Lance stalked the halls, still playing with his zippo. He had been playing with his zippo to the point where the fluid was just about out and the flint was dying. Oh well, Lance was pretty sure that the guards were kind enough for letting him have sufficient flints and lighter fluid. Let him have. Lance snarled at the concept and pocketed his zippo. No matter how many times he tried, his zippo still wouldn't mimic what had happened earlier to the guards.

Thorn had also noticed the water hit her, but had said nothing; no big deal, it was just water! Besides, other than a couple in various places, Thorn had not many stitches. After all, most of what had changed was in her eyes.
She noticed that as soon as she looked at the book, the other girl did hte same, and that the other girl, Hal, picked it up. But what surprised Thorn, was that the girl suddenly handed it to her, knowing that the book belonged to her. She hadn't been expecting it so boldy, and now she was teh bookworm.
"I-I.....u-uh.....thanks. Wondered where it went..." she answered, not really sure what to say but showed it in her face as she nodded and smiled slightly, putting it in her lap with gentle fingers.
Strange, Hal was being kind; most of them were, including the boy Thorn herself had snapped at earlier. She'd have to apologize later...if she were still in the mood, that is.

Hal smiled at her. "No prob. We're all in this together, right? The last thing you want is to lose your way of escaping this place." Turning back to Alice, Hal's expression grew serious. "Hey, I've been thinking about something. And since you've been here the longest, you're probably the best one to ask." Hal spread her hands on the table. "Why did Dr. Gerard tell us about our powers - and more importantly, why tell us that he'd experimented on us? I mean, for some of us it's harder to hide than others..." She gestured towards the network of stitches on her head. "But even so, why come clean? Does he mean for us to try and develop our powers on our own? And if that's the case..." Hal took on a troubled look. "Wouldn't it be better for us not to use our powers at all?"
((Oh jeez. *facepalm* I meant to leave a nice neutral post, and look what happens. I'm going to be away till Thursday. BellaTheDevious, you can reply or not as you see fit, but I'm going to be out of the conversation for a while. Maybe Hal's eating again. crying And just when it was getting good...))

Alice saw the girl from earlier sit down, the one that had been with Dawn. She had an uneasy feeling from her and sensed a superiority complex. Alice's attention was torn away from the other girl when Hal spoke. "Meet me in my room after dinner and we will talk more about this. I don't want to say too much here." She whispered as she gave a slight nod to the guards in the corner. It was then that Alice noticed Jack wasn't there. She remebered him saying he was hungry. Hmm...maybe I should go get him. She thought to herself. "Um guys...I will be right back. Hal don't forget after dinner ok." Alice said as she headed towards the dorms. As she walked she couldn't help but feel a little relieved. She hadn't had real friends in so long. All she ever had was Dawn. "Dawn!" Alice exclaimed. She had forgotten that she had told her to stay in her room. Alice ran towards the stairs and tripping on the last step. She landed forward, hurting her wrist. "Fu-...ouch." She cursed under her breath as she headed to Dawn's room. She walked in to find Dawn asleep. "Hey, dinner is down stairs." She said gently as she woke her. Alice felt something fly past her. A vector? Had they forgotten to up Dawn's dosage too? That can't be good. They usually where more on top of things when it came to Dawn's powers. Dawn groaned and sat up. "You feeling ok?" Alice asked as she brushed a piece of hair from Dawn's groggy face. "Yeah." She mumbled sleepily. "You should go down stairs." Dawn nodded and Alice gave her a smile. Then headed towards Jack's room to find him gone. "Where could he be?" Alice pondered. She headed back to the stairs, deciding to check the other floors for him. She checked the second floor, looking in each room and calling his name, nothing. Alice reached the dark halls f the first floor and couldn't help cringing. She remembered when she had first arrived, what the now abandoned classrooms where used for. It was before the basement lab had been finished, the classrooms where used as the lab. Alice peaked into the second class room on the left, no Jack. She walked in an ran a hand over the "teacher's desk", dust collecting on her fingers. The room never did lose it's smell of chlorine and anesthetic. The twisted memories of her first few months here tickled the edge of her mind, but she didn't dare remember. From what Alice had heard, this place actually had been an academy before Dr. Gerard bought it. And before then a mental institute. But Alice had her doubts about that story. She continued down the halls in search of Jack when she suddenly heard a loud bang coming from the lab followed by the shouts of guards. "No..." Alice whispered before she sprinted down the hall towards the elevator. ((It's okay Kittengrl, our characters will converse when you get back)

with a sigh Chris walked into the dining hall. He'd come by earlier but plenty of people had already been eating, and hopeing that it would be more empty, he'd left again and wandered around the school for a while. Instead, he found the hall more crowded than when he'd left. Noticing the same girl from earlier that day he carefuly avoided eye contact and walked over to the food. After grabbing a plate full of fruit and veggies he seated himself as far away from the other people in the hall as he could and began to eat in silence.
(sorry boring and sohort, but he needed to do something)

Reaching her room Kiri walked over to the small bag that was sitting on her bed. There was no blanket on her bed as she had used it to cover the windows that were in her room.
"A gift, I see he gave me something. I wonder what it is. He better hope I don't figure out how to use it against him. Oh this'll be good."
Reaching into her bag Kiri began lookig for what she needed. THe first thing she pulled out were some sun glasses and a hoodie. "Yes I got them in. Those idiots thought they'd get me." Grabbing some books that were in the bag Kiri filled them open to pull out a few screws and tiny pieces of metal. "My dagger didn't get found either."Setting them aside Kiri headed for the closet to see what she had to wear.
Inside where 3 pairs of pants, 5 shirts, and 2 skirts. All were gray and plain. "I have to where these ugly things. Please there kidding right." Grabbing a shirt Kiri began ripping off the sleeves and hems before grabbing 2 skirts and looking them over. "I should be able to tur these into a longer skirt if I sew them together."
Going back to the books Kiri opened the bind of a small book to pull out a sewing kit. "This'll be annoying but I have plenty of time. Yes, plenty till I get out of here. But of course first I'll have to skin this Dr. Gerard alive and gut him like a fish. Oh yes his head will hang from my wall. I will get revenege. I will kill everyone who is part of this."
Laughing evilly Kiri began working on her knife.

As soon as Alice exclaimed, "Dawn!" Brynn Syvra had been set on edge. She didn't taste the food in her mouth. She actually froze in the middle of chewing it, but she slowly swallowed it. Why does just her name set me on edge? I'm itching to find her, but I don't know where she is. Her gray eyes shifted over from the wall ahead to look at Alice on her right side. Peripheral vision is such a blessing, she thought, managing a small smile of satisfaction that she didn't think anybody noticed. As she saw Alice stand and dash out of the room, she stood up and left her seat, following Alice at a slightly quickened leisurely pace. As she passed some of the other people, she kept her eyes forward, but everybody knew she passed by. She couldn't help her long hair rustling on the stone. She heard Alice go up the stairs nearby, heard her trip, heard her curse. This all amused Brynn Syvra very much. A silent laugh shook her shoulders as she waited at the bottom steps and listened to the onesided conversation going on above as the voices floated down. When she heard Alice direct Dawn to go eat, she decided to stay where she was. She had this unmistakeable, mysterious bond with Dawn and Brynn Syvra was going to find out why.

Smiling at a job well done Kiri stood to leave her room and find something to eat. She was now wearing a long gray skirt that had a green snake embroidered into the left side, a gray sleevles shirt that had red lettering that spelled 'silent as the grave' on the front, over the shirt was the black hoodie, and the sunglass covered her eyes.
'I feel so goth right now but the sun keeps hurting my skin. I think I'll stick to the shadows.'
Slipping unseen down the hall Kiri made to the cafeteria. But s she was about to grab some food something in her gut told her it was a bad idea.
'I wonder if they did something to the food. They probably did but......what am I kidding they already messed with me, I'm not goanna let them poison me to.'
Turning around Kiri ignored her growling stomach and headed for the library. 'I don't need there food I'll find something slse to eat. I should still have thouse seeds I was going to eat. Maybe if I find a book on growing food I can figure out a way to grow them and just live off them.'
Nodding her head at the idea Kiri reached the library and immeaditly set to work finding a book on growing things. 'I'll figure out how to survive int he cold after that and then go for it. After all it's only 7 miles, I can make it.'

Sally slipped out of the room, heading back to her own. She hunched down, not wanting to be noticed. She didn't really like being in crowds. She opened the door to her room, closing it behind her. She sat on the bed, looking at her posters. She sighed, biting her lip. Damn school.

Jack had gone a very long way without seeing a single person. It was when he reached the labs that he ran into trouble. He had eagerly run up to one of the doors and peered inside. Sure enough, just a few feet inside was a metal cabinet filled with different bottles. The shining metal seemed to wink at him. Jack pulled the latch on the door to open it, smiling in satisfaction. But the door didn’t budge. Jack tried again, pulling harder. His smile slipped away into a frown and he realized with dismay that all of the important rooms would obviously be locked. He cursed beneath his breath and turned to walk away. Suddenly there was the boom of a voice just around the corner. Jack bolted, ducking behind the opposite wall. He stuck his head out carefully to see a guard talking loudly into a black radio. He couldn’t make out what the person on the other end was saying, but the guard’s words were loud and clear. “Yeah, I cant believe the Doc is taking them off the juice either. He should just put down all the little runts and hire some really workers or something.” None of the words mattered to Jack or even registered in his mind. He watched in silent anticipation as the guard slipped a keycard into a slot at the left of the doorframe. A green light flickered into life above it and the door gave a soft click. The guard pulled the latch and easily threw the door open. “Im going into the lab now to pick up some things for one of the doctors. Yeah, he is still pretty messed up from Dawn’s little episode last month.” “Hey, what are you babbling about? Why are you going into the lab?” Jack quickly darted back behind the wall as another guard appeared around the corner. His heart was racing but he didn’t dare move. “I need to pick up some stuff.” “Too bad, we got a call to meet up with Gerard. He wants to talk to us.” “Now?” “Yeah, now. Just run by and pick up whatever you need later. Nothing is more important then the boss…” “Ok, your right. I hope this is quick.” Jack stuck his head out once more to see the two guards disappear. He raced into the hallway, just barely catching the door to the lab before it closed. He slipped inside and went straight for the cabinet. That too was locked, but a set of keys was sitting right next to it on the table, and after trying a few he managed to get the right one. Jack eyed a few of the bottles. Most of the thing he didn’t recognize and didn’t dare chance taking. But there at the bottom was a small orange bottle with no other label other then “pain killer.” That would have to do. Jack seized the bottled and rearranged the others so that it didn’t look like anything was missing. Carefully he closed and locked the cabinet, returning the keys to their spot. Jack opened the bottled and tapped it so that a single pill fell out. He lifted it to his face, inspecting it as he headed out the door. Suddenly his foot caught a metal table and he stumbled. Jack tried to catch it, but the table was already crashing against the floor. He froze, holding the pill so tight between his fingers that it was crushed into dust. What did they do to people that got out of line twice on their first day?

Dawn sat in the room a little longer after Alice had left. She stretched her long arms and stood, but must have gotten up to fast because her vision swam with colors for a moment. She thought she saw something whip past her, but when she rubbed her eyes and blinked a few times there was nothing there. Slowly this time she walked over to the door and out of the room. There is was again…that blur across her vision. And then it was gone just as quickly. At first Dawn thought the worst, but she dismissed it. Nothing could go wrong. Her father was so smart in giving her the serum; it protected everyone, made them safe and kept her power away. She was just imagining things, Dawn decided. Just day dreaming.

Finding the books she was looking for Kiri began pulling a few off the shelf before the looked around for a cart. Finding one a few feet away Kiri loaded them up before heding off to a section that was filled with torture books.
"Prehaps I an find a better way to kill that Doc. Hmmmm"
Looking through the books Kiri threw a few more onto the cart before going off to find the mangas.
'Now for some light reading. I can't just spend all day looking for ways to ahrm the beast that did this to me. Actually I can but,......this looks good.'
Grabbing about 12 different mangas Kiri looked over the half full book cart before she decided to go look for some winter survival books.
"Hmm at this rate I'll be able to stay in my room and not bother with any of these retarts."
Kiri could see a few people out of the corner of her eye. They were looking at books and trying to obviously figure out there powers as a few were waving there arms around like idiots.
'Hmm I wonder what my power is. The only change I've had since I woke up is that I can't stand being anywhere bright and need to stay in the...shadows.....hmm I wonder.'
Forgetting about the books Kiri headed for the closest, darkest corner she could find. Standing against the wall Kiri stared at the shadow in front off her.
'Move....move....do something......come on.'
Sighing Kiri was about to give up when a thin piece of shadow left the rest of the shadow and touch the cart which was about 3 feet from the shadows edge. At that the cart moved towards Kiri then stopped as the small piece of shadow receded into the rest of the shadow.
'Now that was cool. I'm so going to figure out away to kill the Doc with that. Maybe I could gut him from inside his body.'
An evil smirk crossed Kiri's face as she went back to looking at books to grab for her escape.
Around a few student that had noticed her gave her a slightly scared look.

Alice stopped a few feet from the elevator. Two guards ran down the hall towards the medical station, positioned on that floor. It too had been there since before the underground lab. They just decided to keep it, adding a key card lock. Alice creeped over to the opposite wall peaked into the window to see Jack slink out of view. "s**t!"Alice cursed. If he was caught he would get more than solitary that was for sure. Flash backs from her own punishments made the scars on her wrists tingle. The guards approached the door and took out the key card. Alice had to do something fast. Alice focused her powers on the key card, bending the edge so that the reader wouldn't accept it. "What the-" The guard exclaimed as the card was rejected. "Hurry get out your key!" He ordered the other guard. The second Alice saw the other key come into her sight, she used her powers once more, hoping they would pull through for her. The card zipped from the guard's hand and came gliding right into Alice's. "Looking for this?" She said, as she held up the card. "Why you little-" The guard charged at her, his hand outstretched as a long wire jutted out and wrapped around her ankle. "I think it's time we remind you what happens when you misbehave Alice." The guard sneered as he pulled Alice closer with the wire. Please powers...work just one more time.. The wire stopped tightening and then flew off her leg, wrapping around the guard's throat, tightening until he passed out. Alice blinked in surprised. Using her powers like that had come strangely easy, but that had to wait as the next guard advanced. He removed his tranq. gun from his belt and fired. But Alice had been anticipating on it. She focused her mind on the dart as it was launched, praying to god she got control of it before it hit. Bingo. The dart stopped in midair, inches from Alice's neck. "Nice try." She sent the dart flying back landing in the guard's circuit panel. It took a few seconds for the guard to fall, but Alice knew he was done. Farther down the hall Alice could hear more guards coming. She ran to the door card in hand and open it. "Jack get out of here!! Now!"

Slipping out of the library with about 30 different books Kiri headed towards her room. Along the way one of the guards spotted her and grabbed her arm.
"What do we have here, I do believe your outfir is against the dress code."
"Well I do believe your intelligence is less than that of a bug. So please go away I need to do a few things."
The guard started to pull Kiri towards an elevator. "I do not want to have to take do down to solitary but I believe I'll have to."
"And I do not want to have to kill you,...oh wait yes I do."
Pulling out of the guards grip Kiri pulled the dagger she had put together out of the front pocket of her hoodie and jumped towards the guard aiming for the small patch of skin right below the left ear. As her blade was about to connect with the guards neck a claw like hand gripped her thought and held her up causing her to drop the dagger she had.
"Now how did you get that in here. I'll have to tell them to check the rooms later and see what else was missed."
Feeling her air supply lessening Kiri's eyes flew about looking for anything to get her out of the situation she's in. Spotting her dagger she'ld dropped Kiri concentrated on the small shadow the to of them were casting on the ground.
'Come on....I...I...I can do this.....move....damn shadow move.'
At that the shadow moved towards the knife. Keeping her blurrying eyes on it Kiri concentrated on the dagger as it moved towards the guard and slowly up to his back. Using whatever strength she could Kiri imbedded the dagger into the guard's back cuasing him to let her go. Running behind the guard Kiri twisted the knife in his back before she ripped it out.
"Let's see if you can try that again."
With that Kiri fell down face first as another guard came up from behind her and got her with a stun gun. Twitiching in pain Kiri threw her dagger at the guards witht he other end of the stun gun and as it went into his wrist he dropped the gun. Ripping the schocking end out of her back Kiripulled the tiny knife out of her mouth since it was the last one weapon she had on her.
"Come on I'll take you all down myself."
As the one guard with a hole in his back ran at Kiri the other pulled the dagger out of his wrist and threw it at Kiri. Just as the dagger was about to hit her the shadow at her feet flew up and caught it. Grabbing the dagger from the shadow Kiri smirked.
'I have no idea how I keep doing that but I like it.'
Rushing towards the guard that had stunned her a tranc hit her in the neck from her right side. Turning towards the one who shot him Kiri tried to rush at him but another tranc came from her left side to strike her clothed arm.
As everything got blurry Kiri tried to go for any of the guards not really aring which one but she couldn't get far as she passed out and hit the ground. Walking over to her still body the guard that fired the first tranc lifted her up and threw her over his shoulder.
"I'll take her to solitary you two should go get patched up."
Heading for the elevator the guard went dow to the solitary and after cheking for any weapons in her clothess he threw Kiri in and locked the door.
"Night, night little princess, you'll be lucky if you wake up anytime soon when I tell the Doc what you pulled."

Jack looked from Alice to the exit and then back again, unsure of what to do. “But Alice-” “Just go Jack! I can handle this.” Jack nodded curtly and pushed out the door. “Thank you,” he whispered before he darted off, just making it around the corner before the guards charged into the hallway. He slipped into the elevator unnoticed . When the doors clicked open again he calmly walked out and trotted to his room. Despite his appearance, however, Jack’s heart was racing. He was trembling by the time he dropped onto his bed. The stiff mattress and itchy blanket rubbed against his skin and otherwise would have made him more uncomfortable, but for now he didn’t notice. Jack’s mind was set on Alice. Was she alright? What would they do to her? This was his fault. No, it was the drug’s fault. If he hadn’t of needed it… Jack reached into his pocket and pulled out the little orange bottle. He sat up in bed, peering down at the small white tablets as they fell into his palm. Alice hadn’t seen them. She hadn’t even asked why he was down there. She trusted him…she wanted to help him. Jack screamed and threw the pills at the wall. The little white pieces broke into shards and fell to the floor like snow, but the bottle bounced and ended up right at his feet again. In a rage Jack kicked it, this time sending it rolling under the nightstand. He stood up and grabbed a jacket from his stack of clothes, dragging it over to the chalky pile the pills had formed. He knelt down to cover them, but hesitated. He had gone through so much trouble to get these. Alice had saved him because of them. It would be such a waste to get rid of them all… There were seven pills still intact. Jack picked up each carefully and covered the rest with the shirt. Just enough. He took three. That was hardly anything, but he was trying to cut back anyway. Jack shoved the rest into his pocket and dropped onto the bed. He put his head in his hands, already feeling his body relax. Alice didn’t deserve this. She hardly knew him and here she was risking herself to protect him. She didn’t deserve the trouble he carried with him wherever he went. He would make it up to her. Somehow.
