So....there's a chance I may have already answered this, but I don't think so.
1: How long have you been playing? 7 years on this instrument 2: Are you in your school/college orchestra? yes, that's why I'm taking this - college orchestra 3: Are you in an orchestra out of school/college? I'm hoping I'll get in my local orchestra in a few months or at least a few years, but not as of yet 4: Are you in a professional orchestra? See above 5: Or do you think your orchestra is good enough to be professional? Our university one is not. Neither, for that matter, is the local professional one, although they have some outstanding top chairs who are 6: If you think you guys are, are you totally fooling yourself? hehe, yeah, you would be 7: Is your Director a good director? I like him. He directs the local professional one too. He's funny, although with us, he is never very prompt or demanding of class time 8: Or is she/he really stinky? nope 9: Do you know more about your instrument than your director does? heck yes. He plays violin. I'm a horn player, for the record. I'm in the little wind section and he mostly leaves us to ourselves. Probably because we're the top chairs from our sections 10: Cause he also teaches band and they just forced him to do orchestra too? nah. 11: What chair are you? first 12: Are you happy with that chair? why wouldn't I be? Although I prefer second horn part 13: Should you totally be first or second chair, but you’re not? hehe, we will be lucky to have two chairs, I think, lol. And they're lucky to have me 14: Is the first chair guy really super amazing? yes, I am, lol 15: Like, you could never be that good?(even though you will be someday!) hehe 16: Have you ever broken your string instrument? not a string player. Although I did take a strings class for my music education degree. I never broke our pathetically horrible instruments 17: How much did it cost to be repaired? nada 18: Have you ever dropped your instrument? nope 19: Have you ever stepped on it? no 20: Sat on it? that would be difficult 21: Let some idiot borrow it and then they broke it? (That's you, Madison!) lol, no, I don't let people touch my horn 22: Did it break in the middle of a performance? no. Does water count? Cause I've totally had water in the middle of a song 23: Was it ever damaged by temperature related stuff? (Busted/seriously out of tune/etc) tuning, possibly. Although that would be my mellophone, not my horn 24: You left it too close to the radiator didn’t you? no 25: How many times have you needed to replace your rosin? the one with my violin is still going good, but considering I played for about 4 weeks two days a week, I doubt it would be gone by now. I have replaced my rotor oil...once? and slide grease twice 26: Have you ever busted/lost your rosin? nope 27: Do you have a shoulder rest? horns don't really need one. I have a hand guard though. That count? And how can you manage to play violin/viola without a shoulder rest?! Your teacher should stop anyone trying that 28: A battery powered tuner with the little digital dial? yep 29: A colored music stand? black count? 30: Tapes for finger placement? hehe, my violin did. But I didn't put them there. I wouldn't have 31: Did you ever use tapes? see above 32: Have you ever played at a performance without a rockstop? Haha, another bad thing to do! Unless you're on carpet. But without a rockstop, you should not be playing 33: Have you ever been at a performance without essential equipment, or music? nope. Well, wait. Do you count marching shoes? I forgot those to a competition once. But I was lent a pair, so it was ok 34: Have you ever used your bow as a weapon? no! Geez, what does your teacher do all day to inspire these questions? 35: Your instrument as a weapon?? Nope 36: Is your bow hold screwed up? Mine sometimes was, yeah. My horn embouchure is doing fine though 37: Do you have trouble with it? bow hold? yes. Embouchure: not anymore 38: Is your other hand position wrong? kinda hard with a horn... but no, on either violin or horn 39: What’s your biggest problem with your playing? hm...I'd say my breath support (on horn) 40: Is shifting into positions hard for you? nope 41: Does it get out of pitch and sound like a sick armadillo? hehe, I don't think so 42: Are your fingernails clipped? oh yes 43: Go clip them now! definitely 44: Are you good at vibrato? not on violin. Horn...IDK, we never use it really 45: How long had you been playing when you learned it? Or, do you want to learn it? on violin, about 2 weeks, lol 46: Have you ever eaten something sticky and then tried to play? this affects violin? wow. I've never done that 47: Didn’t work very well did it? no 48: Are your best friends in the orchestra? yes 49: Are you all at the same skill level? yep 50: Have you ever been to any contests? (Group or solo) yeah 51: What were they? too many to count 52: And how did it go? they've all gone fairly well 53: What’s the best song you’ve ever played? I have a lot of favorites. My favorite for orchestra so far is the Firebird Suite, but I haven't actually played it 54: What’s the worst? stupid marches. All I ever get is offbeats 55: What about the longest song you’ve ever played? I have no idea. We haven't played too many. Probably our Carmen Suite, but I don't know 56: The hardest? for orchestra? That's not even fair - they've all been so easy, it's depressing. Of course, they were all written for horn players who didn't have valves 57: Favorite classical composer? Classical? Beethoven, I suppose. Although if you mean orchestra composer, I'd pick Stravinsky, Wagner, or Mahler (sadly, I haven't played a whole lot of orchestra pieces, so that might change) 58: If you don’t know any than you shouldn’t be playing! (Unless it’s your first year or something) I know them 59: Do you make money off of your hobby? I'm hoping to - I want to be a professional horn player 60: Have you seen a professional concert? Like Andre Rieu or Joshua Bell? yes 61: Ever win any awards for playing? yeah - solo awards, and I got some band awards in high school 62: Do you take private lessons? required to 63: Is he/ she really strict? not really. He's amazing 64: About how many times do you practice a week? um, every day, usually twice, about 3 hours daily 65: For how long at a time? hour or two 66: Do you have fun with it or is it more of a chore? It's my life, but yes, I think it's fun 67: Do you use your snake (dampit) like you should? um, yeah 68: Do you even need one? we have one for occasional cleaning 69: Have you ever lost your instrument? no no no 70: Did you get it back? Or what would you do if you’ve never lost it before? Considering I hover over my horn whenever it's not in a locked box, if it really were stolen, I'd go crazy trying to get it back. 71: Have you named your string instrument? yes, both my school violin and my horn 72: What’s its name? violin=Sherman, horn=Igor (after Igor Stravinsky) 73: Do you play any other instruments? yep, piano, flute, mellophone, trumpet, and all strings, so far. Soon it will be everything 74: Do you play them better or like them more than your string instrument? I may play piano better than horn, but I don't care 75: Can you sing also? not really 76: If not, that’s why you picked up an instrument in the first place huh? No choir for me! meh, I like band 77: Are you famous for your playing? not yet. Maybe someday. I've gotten pretty popular around my little tiny college though 78: Do you wish you were famous? not really 79: Are you a loud player? hardly! 80: Or do you play more softly? that's me 81: Do you have a uniform for performances? black 82: If so, is it hideous? hehe, nope 83: Is it hot and itchy? no 84: Have you ever had to do something gay (no offense) while you are playing? Like stomping or yelling or whatever? yeah, we've had pieces in which we had to shout or whatever 85: Embarrassing isn’t it? most of them aren't too bad 86: Do you get nervous before a performance? if I have a solo, then yes, really, really nervous. If not, I don't get too nervous at all 87: Is your instrument a rental or do you own it? mine! 88: Is it trashy? hehe, it looks a little trashy, cause it's an unlaquered horn, but it's really nice quality 90: If you live with your parents, do they make you play for them sometimes? no 91: Your parent doesn’t play a string instrument do they?! they play flute and trombone 92: Don’t you hate it when another section has to practice and you have to sit there and do nothing? yes! It happens all the time! and if they just touched their instruments outside of class, it wouldn't have to happen! 93: Are you a terrible sight-reader? I'm so-so 94: What is your favorite scale to do?
