Lin took a few steps back but she couldn't help but watch bending over slightly in interest to see what was going to happen. It was clear that worms float, so the rock was to keep it slightly under the water. Which was probably why the ford was such a good place, not too deep and you could still see the fishes.

Kara scanned the area, she could see them but not Lin. Worried that she had run off (even though Lin should know better than this by now), she made her way to the others.

"Ryu, where's Lin?" Kara called out.

Ryu hadn't even realized someone had come out until his mother called, he turned slightly to talk to her, "Adan and Ahren took her fishing."

Shael relaxed at Ryu's words, then smiled down at Kara again.

"Shall we go get Donovan and Celebor, then?" she asked. "Lin will be fine with the boys, they're both accomplished fighters by now - and there haven't been any sightings of humans or dwarfs since Adan was kidnapped, so we really don't worry so much anymore."



The boys grinned and set their fish aside on leaves so that they wouldn't get dirty, then went back to the ford to try again.

"Do you want to try?" Adan offered to Lin, holding out his blade.

"Better not," Ahren advised, eying the knife. "It's too big for her to throw, she would need a smaller one ..."

Suddenly there was a rustling in the trees behind them, and the sound of voices could be heard approaching.

Lin was about to say something along the lines that she didn't know how to throw a knife, though Ahren's point about it being too big for her was also a good one. She supposed either she was going to have to get smaller ones or she was going to have to wait, probably the latter. She wasn't allowed to carry sharp pointy objects quite yet.

Though... it would be nice to be able to practice with them....

She whirled around and frowned, trying to listen. How she wished those butterflies (for it was the season for them) would give her something better than murmuries.

Almost immediately two elves emerged from the trees.

One was a man, tall and lean, with shaggy black hair and warm green eyes. He was dressed entirely in forest garb, and had a bow in hand, quiver on his back, and sword at his side.

The other was a woman. She was short for her race, about the height of Feng and Ryu, and her eyes were also green; but otherwise she was very stereotypical of elves. She moved with a fluid gracefulness that belied her travel-worn clothes, and her black hair fell in tight ringlets to her waist.

The man appeared surprised to see the children there, but the woman ignored the boys and focused her gaze instead on the human child that was with them.

"Lin?" she murmured softly.

Donovan was mentally thinking about the next tasks to do once they got to the Ranch, all the while sometimes feeding Miyu sugar lumps that he kept hidden on him. He didn't have to worry about a hyper Miyu, she had the same ability to process sugar like Yuki.

"Hey," he waved at the in coming women.

Lin's eyes widen and she smiled up at the woman, there wasn't anything to worry here. She ducked under Adan's arm and rushed to hug the woman.

"Lothiriel! You're here! Did you come to visit? Who's he?"

Lothiriel laughed and hugged Lin back.

"This is my traveling companion, and I'm sure you could call him just about any name and find that he will answer to it," she said warmly - though the man was looking at her strangely. "But for comfort, just call him Pen."

Instead of looking at the children, however, Pen was staring at her suspiciously. "Lothiriel?" he questioned.

She smiled faintly over her shoulder at him. "You have yet to tell me your true name, Pen," she murmured. "Why should I?"

Kara giggled at that, "We had quite a long talk and I got to hold Adonijah for a while... well for the while he was sleeping anyhow. At any rate, I'm ready, Lin went off fishing with Ahren and Adan, so she should be fine."

Miyu got up and skittered over to her grandmother, it had been a bit boring waiting, but she didn't want to go with Lin since she wanted to go to the Ranch.
