Tired...
That's all she felt. Just simply tired. She had had a long day, and the toils of the day were catching up to her. Even the stretching she did before didn't seem to help that much; she'd certainly wake up sore in the morning. Yet the day wasn't hardly over: she still had a lot to get done! A fleeitng thought entered her mind: maybe this is what it feels like to be an adult. She trembled softly, as if a cold wind had coursed through her hollow body.
Akiko shook herself out of her depression and returned to the task before her. She removed her hand from the cold pool and shook it off, flicking small droplets onto the grass below. Then, she set about gathering more energy. If she recalled correctly, Aunt Yuki had scribbled in some instructions on this in the margins of her notes. It was vague whether or not she needed a hand sign for this, but Akiko gathered that the key was to focus inwardly. In such a relaxing environment, this seemed easy enough. She let the sound of the water and the scent of the flowers drive away all other thoughts. She lost her duel earlier? That didn't matter. She was unaccostomed to the rigors of the academy? Oh well. As for the physical, mental, and emotional pain she had accumulated over the day, that was far, far away. Who knew pain here? Not she.

Akiko instantly felt better. As she held the technique, the pain gradually flowed out of her body. The wear and tear upon her poor, battered frame was, at least for the moment, covered up with a warm, tingling sensation. Though the damage she had taken could only be cured by a good night's rest, at least for the time being, she felt well enough to push on. Akiko stood, ready to attempt the exercise again.

With her newfound strength, Akiko pressed her hands together in the sign of the Ram. She charged up her chakra and devoted a third of it into the sign. She could almost swear she felt it surge through her! As soon as the energy hit the air, it turned into a thick cloud that wrapped around her body. She felt it embrace her, swirling about her body as it obscured her form from whatever entity might have been watching. She couldn't see through it that well herself, in any case. A tiny smile tugged at one corner of her lips as she developed some semblance of pride in her art.

Akiko was starting to understand now. It was really a primitive sense of understanding rather than anything contrived by the human mind. She realized that, for some odd reason, this was something entirely beyond her intellect. Certainly, the ability to analyze her actions helped refine the technique, but strangely she could best grasp the basics through practice. If anything, focusing too much on the knowledge aspects of the technique made her less effective in achieving the end result. Thus, though she didn't realize it at the time, she just discovered Quantum Genjutsu.
(Joke, funny? I dunno, I need sleep soon.)

Akiko tried one more time. If she could get it, then perhaps she'd feel confident enough to handle the next step. She pushed all of her remaining chakra into the technique, not sparing the least remnant of her energy. Lo and behold, the telltale smoke emerged yet again, granting herself partial concealment from... well, the lillies of the field, she supposed. As she gradually ran out of chakra, the technique began to come apart, slowly dissipating into the evening air. Yet, she had done it: she had successfully completed the first step of the genjutsu.
Feeling accomplished yet utterly drained, Akiko worked her way into the inner part of the estate, supporting herself by running one hand along the wall when she could. She entered the dining room and took a seat, hitting her back unceremoniously against the wood behind her. She let out a strained sigh, staring forward with dilated eyes. "Aunt Yuki," she panted, "heh... heh... I've done it."

After making sure the students were set with their homework and informing them of the genin graduation ceremony, Yuki headed home to get the items she needed to present the genin with at the ceremony. Mainly, she needed the assorted sashes for the headbands to go on. Mai had always been in charge of sewing together the plates on the cloth, but now that she was gone, Yuki took charge of that area. Entering her home, Yuki skipped off her shoes and hung up her jacket to notice Akiko's little shoes already sitting neatly on the rug. "Akiko," Yuki called out as she walked into the house to find her niece passed out on the floor of the kitchen. With a smile on her face, she bent down to gently shake the girl's shoulder. "Akiko, darling," Yuki said, waking up the girl. "Time to wake up! We need to prepare a few things for the genin ceremony to night," the woman said as she walked over to a cupboard to pull down her recipe book. "Along with the headbands, we're going to give them some of my special candies. They give you a small boost of chakra along with some alertness," the woman said as she opened the book.
"I'm going to ask you to go find some honey suckles while I go get some sugar from the store," Yuki said, closing the book and handing it to Akiko. "You can use the book as reference to look for the flowers," the woman said as she headed back towards the door. "We'll both meet back here in fifteen minutes!" the woman said as she walked out the door, leaving the task for Akiko to completed.

Akiko woke up to a soft, gentle voice above her. She hadn't even realized she passed out until the haze in front of her eyes cleared. There was Aunt Yuki, back home from class. Akiko blinked. "Un?" she muttered, wondering precisely how long she had been out. She felt somewhat stiff and sore from lying on the ground, but she seemed to have regained her energy. She pushed herself up into a sitting position on... the kitchen floor... how'd she end up here? She couldn't remember.
Once Yuki was confident her niece was up, she started to course about the kitchen in a whirlwind of activity. Akiko reasoned that her aunt's job was far from over that day. Now that she thought about it, neither was hers. For the time being, though, she sat back and watched as her aunt explained everything that still needed to be done by the end of the evening. Akiko nodded, slowly absorbing what she said. She dug into the book that Aunt Yuki handed to her, and that seemed to explain her task in a little more depth. It looked a bit tricky; the flowers were pretty small. She resolved to find them, however, and she might even be able to work on her Henge if she got the chance.
"I'll get right on it, Aunt Yuki!" she exclaimed, rushing out the door. She knew where to start her search right away. The garden outside showcased a vast menagerie of colorful buds and petals. It was close by, and it would likely yield some of the flowers if she searched closely enough. She scanned across the field of flowers, trying to find her quarry among the kaleidoscope of colors. Regrettably, she had to step back a moment, as the colors hurt her head a little.

Akiko rubbed her eyes. She just needed to focus and pay attention. The flower field was quite vibrant, so finding precisely the right flower would be quite troublesome. Her eyes scanned across the floral landscape, trying to pick out the purple hues specifically. She began making clockwise circles about the place and stopped when she got to a small fence near the back. There, she spotted a purple flower in bloom on the vine-laced lattice. As she drew closer, the soft smell of honey hit her nose. She plucked one of the flowers from its short stem and continued on, leaving the remaining buds to grow back and reproduce.

Akiko followed the fence around. It was a host to a number of different climbing-vine plants in nearly as many colors. A few times, she thought she saw another honeysuckle, but there were too many similar-looking plants. She knew what morning glories looked like, but even so, she mistook one for another when she didn't look closely enough. Finally, she came across another honeysuckle, though this one was growing all alone. She picked it and, for the time being, placed it in her hair. She walked back into the kitchen for a moment and grabbed a small basket so that she would be able to carry more. She then returned to the garden in search for more.

Akiko got back to the area she was harvesting before, but she couldn't quite remember where she had left off. She carefully maneuvered her way past the other flower beds and toward the back, but from there she began to cover areas she had already surveyed. She spied some areas that were a little bit overgrown with weeds. She tried plucking them from the ground, but they kept tearing off close to the root. So, she bent down and began pulling them up. This, however, was taking far too much effort. Thinking for a moment, she came up with a solution. She dropped a kunai out of her sleeve and started cutting down parallel to the plant's stalk. With this method, she was better able to extract the unwanted greenery. She kept at this for a good five minutes before she realized what she was doing. She stood back up, dusted herself off, and proceeded to search anew.

Finally, Akiko managed to regain her focus. She slowly swiveled her head from side to side, straining her eyes to try to find at least one more flower. There wasn't much space left that she hadn't explored already. She strolled along the fence line, her mind drifting off to peaceful thoughts. She knew it was getting late, and ordinarily she would be in her bed with her nose in a book. Today, things were different, though. She supposed that things would never be the same now that she was "employed", in a sense. She could already tell that her training would change her so much. As she looked up at the pastel sunset, her hand ran along the fence, feeling out the various foliage that adorned it. Suddenly, her hand stopped upon another honeysuckle. She looked down to verify that it was, indeed, what she was looking for before lifting it off its perch and placing it daintily inside the basket.
Akiko decided it was time to move on. She didn't want to pick this patch clean, lest they not grow back. Aunt Yuki would be furious, and rightly so. Instead, she turned her attention to the village, where she would undoubtedly be able to find some more. After all, these things grew like weeds. Before she left, she switched the honeysuckle in her hair for a soft lily that grew at the pond, placing the older flower inside her basket. Then, she headed out into the evening, striding gracefully as she went.

Kolo thought that he had found the right place, so he knocked on the dorr. "KOCK... KOCK... KNOCK!" He waited patiently by the door, a little nervous. He hoped that Tenmoki-Sensei wouldn't be too mean to him. He wanted only to find the location for the Ceremony. He wanted to see Shin graduate. That would be the greatest Possible event he could imagine. After the ceremony, he planned on walking home with his cousin, and catch up. It had been so long since he had seen Shin. It had been so long, and now he lived in the same place, but he didn't know if he would even see him that much, between his school, and Shins training... It was a sad thought, be he knew it was true.

Akiko was intent on leaving the house to find another place to harvest flowers. Just as her hand hovered over the doorknob, a sharp rap came from the other side of the door. Instinctively, Akiko's hand shot back, hooking around her back to grab the arm with the flower basket. She gasped softly at the surprise before regaining her composure. She reached back to the handle and opened it up. A bony little boy stood on the other side, though he looked nothing like the one from before--Rolaen, was it? She was a bit confused; Aunt Yuki hadn't told her about any visitors. "Can I help you?" she asked innocently, trying to hide her initial suspicion of his intentions.

Kolo was a little surprised that that the new girl, had opened the door. He hadn't known that she was a Tenmoki. He hadn't been there with her long enough to have found out. "Uhh... I was wondering if Tenmoki-Sensei was here... I wanted to know if she knew where the Genin Graduation Ceremony was... I was sort of hoping to attend." Kolo said a little nervously. He hadn't been expecting anyone other than Tenmoki-Sensei to appear behind the door. He was so stupid to think that only she was going to be there. He looked around nervously, hoping to be told either where it was, or where Tenmoki-Sensei was.

Akiko shook her head. "I'm not sure myself, but there are still some last-minute preparations to be done for it. Aunt Yuki went to go buy some sugar, and I need to find some flowers. I'll have to cook the two together after that. When it's all done, I'm sure she'll want to take them to the festival straight-away." Akiko paused, shifting the basket from hand to hand. "Umm... I was just about to leave to search for some more honeysuckles. Would... would you like to help?"
