{Right!} Cart said happily. {After all, Old Silverback may need some help with new eggs. Not that we're leaving all that soon, mind you. We need to wait 'til Sfor and Emblem are teens at least.}

Old Silverback paces restlessly back and forth across the cave. Finally he stops near Khala, Freckles, and Cart. {There are still more eggs out there, waiting to be hatched. I have shown you everything you need to survive, and you know how to hunt. Take care of the little ones, and be ever vigilante for they are old enough to leave the cave. I will be back before you know it; please teach them how to hunt and fish while I am gone.} Without waiting for a reply he bounds out of the cave.

For a minute, Freckles is too stunned to speak. Then the full implication of Old Silverback's speech sinks in. Fish? {We're going fishing, guys!} she says, eagerly running around in the tight space, chasing her own tail. She clambers out of the cave, much less gracefully than Old Silverback, and looks around. Off in the distance, she can see a black and silver speck running off, but she is not in the mood to pursue him. There are little ones to look after and fish to be caught. She looks around at the hardy meadow grass and the distant forest far below her. From up here she can see all the way to the sea, that mysterious dark ribbon stretching away to the horizon. One day, she will go there, but right now she has too many responsibilities. {Are you guys coming or not?} she cries back into the cave. What a horrible stuffy little place! Time to teach the young ones how to stretch their legs and race the wind.

Pax followed Freckles as quickly as he could out of the cave. {So what are we going to do? The silver one said something about fishing. I want to do that.} Pax followed close to Freckles heels waiting for answer.

Freckles nuzzles Pax. {Fishing is the most wonderful thing in the whole world. Fish don't taste as good as deer, and they're smaller, but they're easier to catch. I'm afraid it's all you little ones will be able to handle for now. And don't worry... I'll teach you my special technique.}

{We're leeeaaaaving! We're leeeeeaaaaving!) came Madra's singsong voice as she left the cave. It was nice to be out of the dark cave.

Spotting Pax ahead of her, Madra got into the proper position and pounced on her unsucspecting hatch-brother.

{Don't know...never fished before so I don't know if I'll like it.} Madra said from where she had landed after the tumble. {It will be nice to know how to hunt though...that way we don't have to rely on others}

{Says you!} Freckles calls back into the cave. {I fish with style.} She turns away from the cave entrance, somewhat miffed, and runs after Pax and Madra. {Excellent sneak attack!} she says gleefully.

((Since I can't rp....because I'm writing my term paper on Edward Hopper's Nighthawks XP I'll just do a quick post to say what jabari is doing :3))
Jabari wasn't really interested in learning to fish right that moment. Instead he had wandered off a little and laid down. Then before one could bat an eye, he was out like a light. Sleeping and snoring soundly.

{No, seriously!} Cart said. {Freckles may not be quite so good as Khala, but Khala leaves all of the fun out of fishing!}
Sforkok raced out. {Bet you can't catch me!} she taunted her brothers and sisters. {Come on, Pax, stop fooling around! We're going fishing! I'll race you there, Madra!!} Without waiting for a reply, she sprinted off.
