"Arabelle, isn't it beautiful out?" The Lady's voice was far and dreamy, as if she were not really there. The dove chirped, leaping off Lady Maybelline's shoulder and into the air. Maybelline's hands held the windowsill loosely as she leaned ou slightly, to gaze at the glorious sight of the day. She stepped back but her baby blue dress caught around her legs. The Lady was not one to fall, but at this moment, the world seemed to go just a little bit faster as she lost her balance.

As Amira entered the room behind Grace, she suddenly got a chill. Maybe it was the temperature in the room, or maybe it was that she was dreading the class held in it. Lady Florizel turned to them after a while, startling her. The woman was in a high position, and Amira wasn't surprised that she was all business. She wondered if she should wait for Grace to say something, but then decided that she should say something, and finally stand up for herself. "Yes, um..." Amira began shyly. Suddenly the idea of a picnic outdoors seemed impossible to someone as proper and fancy as Lady Florizel. Amira decided to let Grace handle it. It was her idea, after all. Maybe she would want some credit for it, Amira thought hopefully. "We had a question for you, if you don't mind," she said quietly, hoping that Grace would finish her train of thought. Lady Florizel scared her, although she had a kind look on her face.
Lord Lawley nodded, taking his hand off her shoulder as he realized it may have been making her nervous as well. He brushed it against his pants, not knowing quite what to say or where to look. "Well..." he said finally, looking into Lady Anita's eyes. "I would suggest Whiskey as your horse." Lord Lawley walked towards the gelding. "He's very tame and it takes a lot to frighten him. I constantly use him for new riders. You seem to be getting along well with him anyways. And he seems to like you..." he trailed off, realizing that he was ranting with subtle embarrassment. "Anyways... Whiskey is the perfect horse for you." He stroked the horse softly before turning around to Lady Anita to see her reaction, and see if she was at least slightly less frightened.

Coralie sensed how careful the twins were to make sure she would enjoy herself, and smiled. She was touched, but amused. Those who knew her well rarely asked her opinion, as she had always been very easygoing and open to any suggestion.
"Nothing in particular," she told them. Being outside in the night would be enjoyable enough on its own. Besides, the first night would be something of an exploration - it was better to leave with an open mind rather than a specific decision. "Is there anything you would like to do? Rylan? Aaric?"
Damien watched carefully with his steel eyes, only emerging into view when he was sure Amira and Grace were gone. Not that he thought they would be interested in keeping him company, or anything, but he simply did not want to be seen by people who had already met him.
He resumed his slow and languid pace up the stairs with his hands in the pockets of his black jacket. It was a relatively nice garment, and while not the most expensive he could afford it certainly had not been cheap.
At his unusually leisurely pace, it took quite a while to reach the boys' floor. Eventually, though, he did, and was more than a little irritated to find three students already there.
This place honestly will never let me have a moment to myself, he thought with a sullen look. The black-haired teenager turned around to go down the staircase again. He would head somewhere else for the time being, somewhere quiet and tranquil, where he could be alone. His first day was not for socializing - quite the opposite, as he was intent on making himself as miserable as he could in this stifling school.

Aurora had finished her mini tour among the flowers as she was able to identify most of them. She glanced up from where she stood in the gazebo and saw Webster sitting under the tree, seeming like he was relaxing under the shade that the grand tree was able to provide for him. She smiled as she skipped over to where Webster was and placed her hands on her knees where she crouched down to look at the spider. "You wanna go explore around inside the academy?" she asked Webster. She picked up the spider and held him in her arms as usual and began walking back towards the school. She reached inside the school and placed Webster on the ground again as she began walking down one of the hallways where the classrooms where. Webster walked beside her as she glanced at the huge paintings that were hung across the walls of the hallway. "Wow..." she muttered as she halted at one painting. Webster stopped as well and followed Aurora's gaze as she seemed to be into the painting. The painting revealed a scenery of a nigt sky with dark, shadow trees were painted black. The only bright thing in the painting was the moon which was painted slightly above the trees. "No stars..." she muttered as she continued to stare at it before moving her head to one side. "Doesn't it remind of that time Webster?" she said as her mind reflected back into her memories. The spider understood what she meant though he didn't want to think about it.

Canis jerked to attention at the sound of the female voice, his eyes widening slightly when he saw Lady Josephine standing in the door way. Making sure not to hesitate, he stood and quickly put up a happy mask, smiling with laughter in his eyes. As far as he knew, only one person had been able to see through that act and she was dead. Tilting his head to the side, Lord Canis continued to look at her for a moment, never bored by her beauty, before speaking. "M'lady." He bowed slightly, before standing straight once again. "It's a pleasure to see you again after such a short time."
She frowned as the girl left, wondering why she was so skittish. Shrugging, Cassiopeia glanced out the window before deciding to take a small walk and find her own little place to hide when she wanted to be alone. Moving slowly but with a careful precision that had been bred into her since she was a child, Cassi left the room and continued on up the flight of stairs, past the boys floor and all the class rooms, as well as the ball room until she reached a small door. Twisting the handle, Cassi was annoyed to find that it was locked, but she hadn't given up just yet. Kneeling before the handle, she reached up and pulled the small pin that held her bangs back, her hair cascading down in front of her face as the door swung open. Smirking, she closed it gently and quietly behind her, before continuing up to the roof.
Although Anita wasn't any less frightened of the idea of riding, she was begining to calm down somewhat at being around it. And besides, if it Lawley was there then she knew nothing too horrible would happen. Plus, if she was going to be riding Whiskey, at least she was used to him and she had a feeling that he could somehow sense things, like when she was afraid or something. Sighing but offering up a small, tentative smile, Anita nodded. "Alright."

Having given a greeting, Machi felt there was little else he could do here as he had now seen where his sleeping quarters were and was satisfied. The room was also to his liking, comfortable, open and spacious. But not spacious enough to keep him inside nor small enough to discourage his inquisitive mind. Before coming here, Machi had thought terrible things of this place, and the thought of leaving home for so long had made him disgruntled. But Fuego had reminded him that all things must change in order to survive. To these ends, Machi had decided to stop struggling and allow the change to happen. After all, change came as a challenge and he was always taught to accept it. To run away was to be a coward, to remain the same was to remain a child who never matured.
With out another word Machi left, book in hand to step out into the hall. Fuego hadn’t caught up yet so maybe he had a little time to be on his own. As much as it irked Machi to be the only one around with an aid, it was something that could not be avoided. He was already at a disadvantage to fall farther behind would surely cause him to fail. And that was something Machi could not allow. As soon as the boy stepped out side he heard voices, life all around. Perhaps the same students before? Machi wasn’t sure. His ears also caught….faint music? Music he’d never heard before from instruments he’d certainly never seen. Once his interests were sparked, Machi wasted no time setting to investigating. That was when he caught sight of another student. The same one in the building that held all the animals. If Machi might say so, the other student was trying as best as he could to appear to all the world as if everything irritated him. Misery given form. Maybe those bad vibes from before where really this youth's irritation. No doubt Machi's presence had irritaed him, but Machi wasn't even around and here this lad came, anger itself as if the world had accosted him.
Or perhaps....
Machi eyed the boy as he retreated back the way he came...Perhaps it wasn't just Machi but EVERYONE irritated him. If that was so, then Machi perhaps should be quite impressed. For if the boy could find something in everyone that irritaed him, he must have a crystal clear understanding of himself. He knew what he liked and disliked and why that was so.
Very impressive. Machi was still trying to understand why somethings bothered him and trying harder still to give voice to it. But he could not pin point it and because of that, Machi knew he still need to learn more about himself. You'd think that since you are yourself, you would know yourself better than anyone. Machi sighed.

"Canis, I wish you would not be so formal." Josephine smiled at the Lord, the smile just as small as the one before, but just as real. She turned from him and continued to the grand piano that was placed in a corner of the room. Her scarlet hair swung behind her with each individual step, coming to a stop as she sat down behind the piano. She began to play again, her hands moving swiftly across each key.

He stared at her, surprise riding on his fair skinned face, before he returned the smile and watched her walk over to the piano. Listening to the first few notes, Canis slowly made his way over to stand beside her, tapping out the rythem as he listened quietly. Canis' desire to dance was strong, but he thought the idea of dancing with air would be rather embarrasing, especially in front of Josephine. Running a hand through is blond hair, he watched as her fingers moved elegantly over the keys.

"Why don't you dance Canis? After all, it is your profession." Josephine did not look at him, her gaze remaining focused on the keys. Her foot tapped lightly with each note, helping to keep the beat. A smile lit up her face as she played, seeing as the notes seemed to carry her away from the world she lived in. The notes were peaceful and simple, the world a complicated and dangerous place. It was her haven, the Lady's life and love.

Grace stifled accusing Amira of leaving her to the dogs, and merely asked the question. "We were wondering if we could have a picnic lunch," she told the headmistress. Not detecting any open hostility, she pressed forward. "We could spread out blankets or something so we don't get dirty and have sandwiches, fruit, and such. It's turned out to be a nice day if slightly crisp." It felt like she was babbling, so she just tried her best to curtsy - she stumbled backward a step. Then she clasped her hands together and tried to look half as innocent as her friend.
Lady Florizel considered. It wasn't such a bad day out, and it was unlikely that such an event could be organized again with the tight schedules. She stood and nodded. "I think that's an excellent idea," she announced. "Thank you ladies for suggesting it." She noticed the relieved and gleeful look on Grace's face. The girl would have to learn how to control her emotions - you weren't supposed to read a princess' face like a book.
Rylan grinned. "Hey, I have an idea," he said. "Let's see if we can get into the kitchen and swipe some food, and go eat in the gazebo. Plus, the apple tree still has fruit." It would take a while to journey over to the opposite side of the castle, and they would probably regret it in the morning. But from his experience classes were hardly ever difficult on the first day.

"That's quite alright," Canis said, smiling slightly as he continued to watch her fingers move gracefully over the keys, like a hummingbird as it carefully had its fill of whatever it was it got from flowers. Leaning back against the wall, Canis glanced at the Lady's face, not surprised to see the same look he usually wore when he was dancing. "Besides, it's more fun to dance with a partner than it is by oneself."

[Take your pick Princess Mandy ^.^ ]
"Oh really?" Josephine smiled before playing the last note and standing up. She stepped lightly, spun, and then held out her hand. "Will you give me the honor," she asked curiously, with a smile. Her scarlet fell in beautiful ripples across her face as she stood there, her slender hand waiting.

Amira smiled politely, but didn't show her gleefulness as clearly on her face. "Thank-you, M'am," she said with a smooth curtsy, before turning happily to her friend. It had originally been just Grace's idea, and the rest of it had been too. "But it was really only Grace's idea," she added, feeling as if she was taking credit. Perhaps it wouldn't be what all princesses would do, but Amira figured that her honesty would be appreciated. She wondered if they should leave the room or wait to be excused, as per usual with her father and mother, the king and queen, when they had an audience. Amira stayed put just in case, thinking that it would be the case, considering that Lady Florizel was their superior. There were a lot of rules in the world of a prince or a princess, she considered. They weren't too hard to remember after a while, though, and they were all necessary if you were to become a king or queen.
"And now we're stealing," Aaric said, a twinge of pride in his voice. It was surprising to see Rylan so enthusiastic already. He had already seen that the food in the castle was exceptional, and he had only been to breakfast. He couldn't wait for dinner, when there would no doubt be some deserts. "Sounds great, Rylan. As long as Cori is up to it, of course," Aaric added politely. He suddenly got his mischievous grin back onto his face. "And you two will still get your romantic setting in the garden, of course" he teased as he lifted himself off of his bed to stand in the middle of the room. Aaric knew he was in for it, and probably embarrassing Coralie much more than she was used to, but it was rather fun.
Lord Lawley shifted his feet, feeling awkward because Anita hadn't said much in return to him. "We could practice a little before lunchtime, if you like," he offered, opening up Whiskey's stall. Lawley walked inside, the smell of hay becoming stronger as he stood next to the horse. Whiskey turned his head to watch him, his eyes gentle. The young lord stroked the horse's side gently, and his hairs rippled gently. Clearly, the stable hands had washed him the day before, and he was very sleek. "What do you say?" he asked Lady Anita, turning to her, and beckoning her into Whiskey's stall with him.

Canis smiled, before bowing and taking her hand gently in his, setting the stance for a simple waltz. He moved slowly at first, making sure that Josephine was able to keep up, before moving much more quickly, dancing to the rythm of the song that she had played earlier, in her room. "Yes, really. It's very interesting to watch the facial expressions of the person you're dancing with because you can see so much just from that."
Hesitating for only a moment, Anita moved slowly into the stall and stood just a few inches behind Lawley. Though she had often petted the horse before and came a few times a week to feed him an apple and visit with Lawley, she had never been so close to Whiskey before and had never realized his actual size. Anita clenched her fist at her side, before reaching out a shaking hand to let him smell it.

Josephine had no trouble keeping up with Canis. Her dress swished with each step as she moved smoothly with Canis. Her hand held his gently as she smiled at him. Her head titled slightly when he mentioned the fact that you could see so much from facial expressions. "And what do you see now?"
