Adan shrugged. "Maybe," he murmured tentatively. "But Uncle Adonai didn't spend much time here anyways, so I don't know if it really makes a difference that he's gone. Most of the time you can hardly tell."
Really he was just as disappointed that his uncle had gone, he was just trying to put a brave front on for his friend.
Alyse giggled softly, and the moment the room was dark she slowly opened her hands to reveal a softly glowing stone. In the darkness, its glow was bright, slightly white but mostly a pale green, bright enough that, though it was held in her hand at about her belly button level, it illuminated her face quite clearly.
She giggled. "Pretty."
Amdir stopped the horse's training and started walking it around the pen to cool down, smiling at the children who were approaching, though for the moment he was still unable to stop and chat.

"Not really," Arwen replied for Shiro, "we're coming to get Amdir, Mama and Kara want to talk to him about something. Hey, you haven't been to the house yet, you should go! Timeaus is there, Mama's watching him until Arthael and Halmir are done their shift!"
She grinned brightly as she joined the others, and, glancing past Lin at the twins, she said, "Hi! I'm Arwen! Who are you?"

Shiro grinned at Lin and pointed at Arwen as he caught up with them. "Er ... yeah, what she said." He chuckled softly. "But yes, I also wanted to look around. I think Mother and Tou-san are going to be inside for a while, and I was anxious to see what was here, learn what I can."
He put one hand an Ura's back and prodded him forward a bit. "And I wanted to take Ura out so that he can learn, too," he added proudly. "I think it would be good for him. Tou-san says that he will be my guardian once he grows big enough, so it's best if he knows what is safe and what is dangerous."

Ryu smiled softly, "But you love him anyways... it's sad Adonai isn't here since Cindy is. I guess everyone back home tends to forget sometimes that time just moves on without us."
It was one of the harder aspects of coming back each time sometimes you didn't know what happened.
Feng watched it glow, the sort of light that is cast on her skin, "It is very pretty," she whispered softly, "You like pretty things?"

Lin grinned a sort of mischeivous grin at Shiro, that was the other reason why she liked hanging around him. It was his need to learn, not just learn but the fact that the two could relate very well thank you very much.
"Then you have to come and meet Elros with me, he's on duty right now, but I have a bento to give him, so I'm waiting. Until then, Starr and Storm wanted to see around the Ranch, in hopes of finding your grandmother."

Adanedhel blinked at Ryu. "Cindy?" he repeated curiously. "Who's that?"
Cindy of course hadn't been there once since the boy had been born - but the knowledge that there were more people here for him to meet made him eager to make their acquaintance. "Are there lots of people here I don't know yet?" he asked, his eyes wide and eager. "Can I meet them tomorrow when I go to the ranch with Ada?"
Alyse smiled and nodded up at Feng, then pointed to the slightly larger stone that Feng was holding in her hands.
"Open and look," she whispered, her blue eyes shining brightly even in the darkness.

Shiro beamed brightly. "I would love to meet him with you!" he agreed cheerfully. "He's the one who is teaching you Common Elvish, right? Mother is teaching me, maybe we can practice together at home, too!"
He grinned down at the little demon baby and patted him on the head. "And Ura, too, he doesn't say much but I think he likes to learn, just like I do."
He looked back at Lin. "But perhaps we should speak to Amdir," he murmured. "Aunt Haradhel did sound somewhat eager to have him come into the house. I think she wants Mother and Tou-san to meet him."

"Cindy is my older sister," Ryu smiled.
The nice thing about being here is that people would take your word for it most of the time. Especially now that Cindy was a teen no one thought it odd that she didn't look much older.
"She visited I believe before you were born."
Feng looked down at the stone she held and opened her hands and felt the bathing of the soft glow of the stone. It was very pretty the way the stone glowed and she had never seen anything like it. Well.. not that wasn't true, she had seen something like that once, but not when it glowed, but more like the thing that was in Cindy's room.

Lin nodded as she looked over her shoulder to see what Amdir is doing, "I think we'll need to wait for a moment. We cna talk to him once I'm sure we won't bother him when it's important."
It looked like he was almost done with that horse anyhow.

"Oh," Adan grinned. "Neat."
He looked up at Tao thoughtfully. "Do you think I could ride on her back, like a horse?" he asked Ryu softly. "She looks softer than a horse ..."
He looked from Tao to Ryu and then back at Tao again, his eyes filled with hope.
Alyse giggled softly and held her stone up near Feng's, doubling the light that was given off.
"Pretty," she said again, grinning.
Suddenly the door opened again, and Aliya stood in the doorway, bathed in the sunlight that streamed in from the livingroom down the hall, holding Adonijah against one shoulder and patting his back.
"I thought I heard someone coming in here," she laughed softly. "I see Alyse is showing you her glowstones. She found Adonai's collection from when he was just little, the first time Cindy ever came here."
Amdir saw Lin looking at him, and he beckoned for them all to come closer. After all, as long as none of the children came into the pen, they would be fine.

"Come on," Arwen grinned, beckoning for the others to follow. "He says it's all right for us to talk to him!"
And she skipped ahead of the others towards the pen, where she rested her chin on her arms, and her arms on the wall.

Shiro looked at Arwen as she ran off, then smiled at Lin.
"Well, she seems to think that it's all right," he murmured, adjusting his grip on Ura's hand once more. "Why don't we head over as well?"
"As well," Ura echoed, speaking for the first time since they had come through the portal.
Storm and Starr needed no such reassurance, they both of them just followed after Arwen right away. Starr took her time and walked, but Storm was in a hurry and he ran as fast as his legs would carry him.

Ryu looked thoughtful, he had heard that Triton had done that, and because Tao by nature very gentle he didn't have as much trouble with her than he would have riding an actual horse. In fact his mother had done the same too if he recalled.
"Yes, Tao has been ridden before," he admitted.
Feng giggled at that, "So it wasn't just that the two stones the same, I've seen that one I think. On Cindy's dresser back home when I pass her room."
Well now that made a bit of sense.

"Okay," Lin murmured it does look like Admir is fine with it.
She began making her way over to the training pen.
"I wasn't so sure at first, since he's busy and everything."

"But can I ride her?" Adan asked Ryu eagerly. "Can you help me up?"
He turned, grinning, to the griffin. "Tao, is it okay if I ride on your back? I think it would be neat! What do you think?"
He spoke to her as if expecting her to reply like any other person might have.
Aliya giggled a bit. "Well, as I recall, Adonai was somewhat enamoured of her when she was here, he followed her around all the time and tried to share everything with her. I was always running off, so I didn't spend as much time with her ... but that was ... a very long time ago."
She went through the math in her head. "Seventeen years already."
Suddenly Adonijah let out a soft burp, and Aliya took his down from her shoulder and held him instead in her arms.
Amdir kept the horse walking around the ring, but headed over to the edge of the pen to talk with the children.
"Hey," he greeted them all cheerfully. "I see we have a lot of new visitors. Care to introduce everyone, Lin?"
