Karite heard yelling from the base of the cliff and found his partner. It was perfect timing because it didn't seem Kore didn't hear him. As he watched he sail through the air it seemed she had some pretty good form. Surprising but then again he hadn't seen much of Serena's skills at all. As she left the water she asked if anyone needed a partner and he smiled his wicked smile he always did when women were evolved. As he open his mouth his voice was lower then usually "Serena, if you want to win I can be your partner." Karite said as he picked up a ball. "You up for it?" The boy said as he tossed a ball over the net.

A grin spread across Serena's face as she turned around to see who it was. It had been a while since she had actually talked to Karite, except for when she yelled a second ago. It looks like she was going to be in the competition after all. The cold might have some effect on how well she would do, but it probably did for everyone else, too, anyways. She watched the rubber ball fly over the net easily with one quick, strong movement of Karite's arm and held out her own to catch it. The Raiken backed up and caught the ball steadily with both hands, and raised it up with the grin still on her face. "Well, Karite, that just depends on whether or not you want to win."

"Okay!" Orika replied as she watched the ball soar overhead. Was it going to be too much for her? Maybe not if she stepped back and jumped as high as she could. Orika whirled around and sprinted a few metres back, then using the running start she had, thrust her body into the air. Her fingertips missed the ball by at least a metre and she was rewarded by the sound of rubber hitting dirt. "Sorry, Maya. I can't catch to save my life..." Orika muttered, turning her face away from the girl. Well, they'd just have to depend on her weak throws and Maya being really good at catching balls. While the farm girl raced to scoop up the ball to try again, she scanned the competition to check on everybody's progress. Serena had entered the realm and Karite had finally finished collecting the pearls. They were now partners and somehow managed to successful throw and catch the ball on their first try, despite Karite's strong throw. Orika puffed at a few bands that had settled on her forehead from the dive and ran back, not about to let them win.

As Orika reared back her arm to toss the ball, she took a good look at the net and gulped. That was awfully high and though no one had actually hit the thing, she would probably be the first. How high should she throw the ball? It was light enough that Orika felt that a gust of wind would be enough to wrench the thing from her grip so she held it as tightly as possible. The girl stepped close to the net and threw the ball as hard as she could, so afraid was she of failing to get it over the barrier. Instead of striking the net, however, the ball soared way over head, above the trees even, and came down at the far end of their court at an exhausting speed. "You probably need to dive for it, Maya!" she suggested, jumping up and down in excitement as the ball neared the ground just as the divers had rushed towards the watery lagoon.

Maya barely heard the words register - she hadn't been paying attention since Karite had surfaced. The tension between him and Orika was almost palpable... And Maya missed the ball entirely. She sighed, rolling her right shoulder and bending over to pick up the ball easily. She saw one of the village kids with Shisei, and wondered just what he was doing here. And with Shisei? It was odd to imagine the Orochi being close with anyone, since he was so intent on everyone around him being inferior and thus defeatable. Maya chuckled slightly, if only because if Shisei ever got around to learning jutsu like he had been asking from her, he would be strong - jutsu seemed to require someone without any real idea of what went on in the world around them. Like Aya's bubbly-ness, maybe Shisei's nonchalance was his way of seeing the world. How close-minded of him...and then Maya snorted. She didn't see why anyone would want to focus on non-physical attacks...in that way, she was close-minded too, but at least she would never be one-upped in a hand to hand fight like the lioness she was.

"Huh... hi," Kane said, taking Brassa's hand and shaking it strongly. He'd picked up a little of their conversation, but not enough to get offended. He couldn't help but like Brassa, with all his weird dialect speak and missing tooth and boyish bounce. "We'll try," he said to Brassa, before turning to Shisei. But before that, he stuffed his wrung shirt into his pants pocket, a little at a time. Anyone who looked at Kane would see a huge bulge in his pants... just in the wrong place. His pants were loose enough to cover the real deal after all.
"All right, dude," he said to Shisei, waiting from the other side of the net. He watched the ball go up... and up... and up... Wow. Kane was shocked by how well this child could throw. At any rate, he was much better at making distances than Kane. One eye up at his forehead to block the sun, and keeping an eye on the ball's path, Kane tried to catch it, both hands already open in position.

Kane's height gave him a slight speed advantage as he was able to clamp his long fingers around the ball after a leap. Grinning at Shisei, he rolled the ball around his one hand, as if to test it out, before bringing his arm back. This action defined his pectoral muscle quite nicely, and it tightened the further he moved back. Kane's upper torso was really a pretty sight to behold. Completely untarnished, and starting to gain a tan tinge. The water drying off his skin made his body seem even hotter due to the 'glistening' effect.
The net was tall, not to mention the fact that the distance was wide. The air was still, though, so wind resistance would not hinder their efforts... for now. Kane decided to work quickly and hopefully they would finish before any adverse conditions surfaced. Although Kane wasn't as good as Shisei at making sheer distance, at least he still had a decent aim. Throwing his arm forward, Kane called, "Now, Shisei-kun!" before letting the ball loose with a fierce forward spin.

The snake king in training looked slightly disappointed when Kane didn’t catch the ball. Did he throw it that hard? Perhaps he had to slow down so they could win. Gold eyes began to stare at the other teams. Maya’s strong arm was proving to be a hinder for the farm girl to catch. Also the Karite had seemed to find a partner in sly smile. They may prove to be a good team since there was a better balance of strength between the two. As Shisei scanned he did not pay attention to Kane’s call or the launch of the ball. When his sight took in the spherical object above his head it was too late to catch. The ball bopped the youth in his nose and bounced off. Shisei remained standing although his nose was two hues more pink than normal around the attacked area.

“Not bad Kane-sempai…” Shisei stated as he rubbed his nose and went to retrieve the ball. The genin was a little stronger than the snake youth had first expected. Which was a good thing, but it also meant silent serpent needed quickly gauge and no for certain his strength so he could rightfully slow or speed down his throws. It would also get him to be more prepared for the blonde’s throws. Taking the ball into his arm again, Shisei hurled the orb like it was going to go into orbit. His palm didn’t mean to toss it so hard, but the fact that his nose hurt must have clouded some of his judgment. Well it would be good anyways to see how far Kane could go with this game. “It’s a strong one Kane-sempai so be prepared.” the serpent said emotionlessly. His tongue didn’t like to use such motivating words if not needed, but to win it was better to use them.

[I swear I caught the ball!]
Kane felt a little annoyed that the snake kid had been too busy looking around to pay attention to the ball, when he was the one who seemed to be all into the competition and wanting to win. Still, he couldn't help but laugh a little (inside) as the kid was thunked on the face with the ball. Somehow this gave Shisei a childish image that didn't fit with his projected attitude. Although if you looked underneath the surface you would easily be able to see it.
A little amused at the uniqueness of this individual standing across him, who was acting with a mixture of superiority and deference, Kane returned, "Gotcha, Shisei-kun." The ball was really quick though, even quicker than the previous one, and even though Kane stretched his arm up high, calculating the trajectory of the ball and many other things subconsciously in his mind, he wasn't sure whether he'd be able to get it.

Kane wasn't even close. He jumped as high as he could, but the ball sailed past him, and by the time he returned to ground level it had landed and bounced off somewhere. Kane acknowledged this only by way of a sheepish grin and went off to get the ball. Fortunately it hadn't gone very far and he was back almost immediately.
"I'll try to make this easy," he said to Shisei. "It's gonna be high." Bringing his arm back again, Kane this time adjusted his posture so that his arm was aiming for height and not distance or speed. Kane was confident that he could clear the distance to the net anyway. A lob would take longer than a normal throw to reach the ground, giving Shisei more time to time and execute his catch.

During the throw, though, Kane fumbled a little. Maybe it was the cold, since his body was beginning to cool down after that vigorous pearl hunt. Nonetheless, instead of getting the ball across the net he ended up tossing it lightly up... and then catching it again as it came down. A more braggy type would have tried to pass it off as intentional, but Kane wasn't like that. He merely ignored it and continued on. Trying to get the unnecessary and tired thoughts out of his mind, he refocused on his target, Shisei. Raising his arm again he threw the ball, aiming for a throw that was as straight but as high as possible. Kane wouldn't have to worry about the ball going especially far, since he knew he didn't have the physical strength for that. "Keep your eyes on the ball!" he called out to his partner.

Maya grunted as she flicked the ball upwards, not even lifting her arm this time. Underhanded shot, barely a flick of her wrist, and still the ball soared over the net. Maya slapped her hands to her face - she was bad at control. It was why she didn't even bother with all that chakra crap. Control required a sort of patience and delicacy that Maya just didn't have in her toned body, and she momentarily shook herself, then arched her back sharply so that, if she leaned a little more and dropped, she would have created a perfect bridge. She straightened out, rolling her shoulders again, and realizing that she wasn't actually being helpful anymore. "Try that one, Ori - I didn' even use my whole arm to throw," she called, her tone quiet but still solid enough to be heard.

Serena held the ball tightly and pulled her right arm back while she held her left one in front of her to get a better aim. "Alright, here it comes, Karite!" She thrusted the ball forwards with as much strength as possible and hoped that it would soar over the net.
Unfortunately, the ball did not do what the Raiken wanted it to do. Instead, it made its way to the top of the net and fell straight down. She had to run forward and catch it, but once it was in her hand again, she put a tight grip on it. "Heh, sorry about that one..Let me do that again"

Serena held her breath and chunked the ball again, this time a bit higher. 'Please go over..please go over..' Yes! The ball flew high up into the air over the net, but now the genin was worried that Karite would not be able to catch it..it looked like a pop fly going over the net. "It's a high one, watch it carefully!" Serena yelled at her partner over the net. If he caught this one, then they would be done..if he didn't, then they would just have to try again.
