Orika yelped when the antlers struck her bad leg, ripping through the cast and into Karite's wound, striking the broken bone. She bit down on her lip in order to keep from crying out further, but then her howls echoed throughout the forest, scaring away a flock of birds to the team's right. The girl hit the ground, rolling across the meadow until her body struck a young sapling trying to compete with the mighty forest giants that towered over the stick. Wiping the tears of pain from her eyes, Orika reached around for where she thought the club had fallen, but only turned up a stick. Oh, crap. She squinted, trying to make heads of tails of objects in the darkness, but her effort was futile as she couldn't even see the damn deer thrashing its head around in the bushes. Her head hurt plenty too so that didn't help. Orika staggered to one foot, ignoring the blood flowing from the other. Who knew hunting full grown male deer halfway through mating season was so dangerous? The girl saw the world spinning around her and blinked to make the nausea leave. She licked her icy lips and cooed to the deer, making the deer calls she and Karite had been practicing an hour ago. Eeeeeeeh!
It was the call of a young female in heat so Orika hoped the male would be attracted by the prospect of hot sex. Sure, it knew it was about to die, but at least it could go happily. She coughed, spat out some nasty goo, and tried again. EEEEEEEHHHHH! Never mind her injuries. If she lost the wounded deer, all the work the three put into calling them here would be for nothing. Huh, she never really stopped to think of how this difficult hunt would have been impossible without all three of them, no matter their personalities. It turned out shinobi didn't care about how others acted, as long as their skills were useful. Orika gave a weak grin and leaned against the tree. She closed her eyes tightly since the earth was still spinning and stored that revelation somewhere in the back of her head. Oooh, pain... A branch cracked somewhere up ahead, then graduall closer. The girl supposed that the deer was staggering its way to her, trying to find the call with blinded eyes and a damaged ear. Great! She gave a low, seductive bleat to lure the deer closer, hoping it would go one charging. So, no weapons and half a second before she'd be impaled... what was there to do?
Orika took in a deep breath and gave the loudest call she could, the desperation showing clearly through her voice. The buck seemed arouse by that and charged towards her. Orika wrapped her fingers around an overhanging branch and waited until a split second before the deer would hit her to swing herself up in a backwards flip and into the safety of the tree. Meanwhile, the deer struck the tree with so much force that the girl nearly fell out. Looking down to see the dazed deer, Orika broke off a branch and leaped out of her hiding spot, swinging down with all her newly formed muscles right for the top of the deer's head. A satisfying CRACK lit the air on fire like a hundred whips as her blow struck true.

From there on, it was simple, with the deer collapsed to the ground, barely in motion save for a few twitches here and there. The cries it gave reminded her of a rabbit kitten's as the fox cruelly tore its limbs apart one by one. She wouldn't be so cruel... maybe it would have been better to find the deer's weak spot earlier one. Orika took the branch in hand and positioned the makeshift club right above the deer's head like an axe. She drew the axe back behind her head and swung it in an arc that crashed down onto the deer with a stomach-churning crack. Blood and brains flew everywhere, splattering on her already filthy clothing. Orika looked away. Below her, she could feel her blood and the deer's mix in a dark red pool that quickly grew in size. Without compromising and turning to stare at the deer, the girl backed away and tore a piece of cloth off the cast, then started to rebind her injury. She didn't care so much for the gash on her chest, but it might leave a scar if she couldn't get to Kumiko or Tenko soon.
The smell was getting too strong; If she didn't hurry to store the deer away, other animals would come to feast on the free snack. When she stretched out her leg, everything seemed fine. Those herbs Tenko put sure made things heal at a remarkable pace. She touched her chest and the tiny bumps growing inside them, suddenly blushing. Normally the roughened girl wouldn't care for appearances, but today Karite had given her a reason to primp and preen like the other girls. Granted, she would never wear make up again, for it took waaay too long to put on foundation, blush, coloring, whatever. But, she could at least dress better or did Karite like her regular clothing? This was too confusing for a girl that didn't even think she'd be in this situation for at least 5 more years. With a soft sigh, she set to pulling the deer back across the treacherous terrain to their starting point. It wasn't long before the girl realized that the deer must have weighed at least 90 kilos! She groaned and sat back against the tree, setting the now split branch aside, watching over her prey until her strength allowed her to tow the animal back to town.

Karite was not afraid now. He wanted to hurry and finish this job so he could rest and let his new scars settle in. The cold wind hand numbed his check and ribs and his arms were sore from strangling the boar. He still had push-ups he need to finish and he knew he wouldn't want to wake up to them tomorrow when he was at full strength. listening to Kore roar at the deer, that must have been a trigger for the prey. It charged wasting no time in running full speed towards the boy. Karite did the best he could to spin the the left allowing for Kore to have an open shot. As he spun he positioned the staff at the right angle to spin the opposite direction. When the buck came running in its reward was a broken leg as the staff shattered the knee cap. It wouldn't be running as fast or at all if the buck was weak enough. Now the only thing left to do was to finish the job he had set out to do and return to the grounds with Shisei and Orika.

Kore was eager to start this fight. The deer had been evading death long enough and the cub as well was tired and ready to rest for the day. Watching the deer, he noticed the slightest movement in the hoof and pounced immediately. The itching cub found out quickly that this was not always the best method. As the cub pounced the deer lowered its antlers and charged forth knocking the cub like he was nothing more then a floating furball. Kore quickly landed on his feet, but was scratched a little. Nothing as bad as the human claws had done. It would heal naturally and quickly. Looking for Karite he noticed the boy moved quicker and more precise then he did. Due to his shoulder Kore ignored that fact but was impressed with how the boy took out a limb with such a little window of opportunity.

Karite was surprised when in all the trauma the deer stood it still managed to turn itself and face the boy. Karite did not want the deer to suffer anymore so was going to simply break the neck quickly. Walking to the deer his hands at his sides he stopped and put down his staff. Raising his hand up to his chest he approached the deer. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Kore jumping up for an attack. When Kore did so the deer panicked and jumped up on its hind legs. Losing its balance it came crashing down. Karite panicked lost his composure and dropped to the ground as the deer began coming close and close about to crush his rib cage with its own weight Karite's hand managed to grasp hold of that red staff stolen from a blacksmith. Raising the staff his hands gripping tightly and his eyes shut tightly he waited for death to claim his life. As time seemed to stop and air seemed to escape him nothing happened. Opening his eyes slowly Karite looked to see the deer impaled on the staff right through the heart. Karite's dead silver eyes shook in his head as he backed away slowly. Spattered in the blood of the deer he was shocked. He had almost died. He had almost left everything behind so young. Killing was not something to enjoy no matter what it was. Sometimes it had to be done and sometimes it was to protect your own life, but killing for fun was not something he could ever do. For the longest time Karite sat there quite. Kore came up next to him and laid sensing something was wrong. "Kore...why is it you kill?" The cub just looked at him, not understanding. It was instinct to the cub of course. After settling down Karite pushed over the deer and knelt beside it. Lowering his head he did something he never did to anyone his entire life. He began to apologize to the deer for putting it through so much pain. Karite's view of the world changed in that instant. He could never view the world the same again. He would have to speak to Maya immediately. She could help him straighten out the thoughts in his mind. Pulling out the staff he hooked it around the deers antlers. He began to drag and looked at Kore, the cub looked up with his ears pinned down and Karite smiled to reassure him. "Come on buddy, you did good."

Kore noticed Karite was acting strange walking slower and placed down his weapon. As Karite did so he raised his hands. Kore took this as a signal and began to attack, but once again was knocked away. As he watched he noticed Karite fell and began to panicked but soon impaled the prey on his staff. The boy then began to panic. Sitting there the cub watched him and wondered what had gone wrong that would make him act this way. Walking over to the boy the cub laid down next to him letting his tail swish across the ground. He would not leave the boys side, but this action was interesting and he would need to ask Baki. Then Karite asked him a interesting question. Why did he kill? Kore could not answer the question. It was something that came naturally. Not rising to look at the boy. Kore laid there and side into the ground causing dirt to spin out from under his nostrils. Something was off with Karite and Kore knew it. As the boy stood Kore watched for a moment and then noticed they boy turned and smiled and said he did good.

Shisei had finished staring at his blood stained hands minutes ago. His eyes were now lifted to the sky enjoying the peace and tranquility. The other two had gone off for their prey, leaving him and his dead victim. Despite the gory scene the snake youth enjoyed the peace. It was something that he had not gotten in a while. While staring up at the sky he heard a crunching sound as if someone stopped through rotting wood. “Something got killed.” he thought while his mind pondered just how it was done. It was not from Karite. His form looked as if it may have trouble taking down the deer. The serpent youth decided to leave it at that. If he needed help then the boy should scream out. It came from the direction of Orika. She had probably clubbed the thing to death. Although there was always the possibility that the deer killed her. Shisei wiped that thought from his mind quickly. After all if some forest creature managed to kill hopper, what would it say about the serpent youth’s strength when she had defeated him? The viper maverick would still need to extract revenge and eliminate the aggressive rabbit for such a disgrace. Steel eyes and his lion may also be a hindrance in the matter, but he wasn’t the biggest obstacle. The largest obstacle lay within that violent man’s ruling. With the adults knowing of this decision he couldn’t touch her until this command was lifted. This may also get in his way of training. Such a nuisance of a situation. “Bound by hate.”. Speaking of situations the small bodied boy was also contemplating very important. Two boars and possibly three deer. A great deal of pounds in all that meat. How were three children, two of them hurt, going to be able to carry all that fat back? Shisei contemplated with a sigh as his eyes took in the form of the sky. It would be nice to be like the wind and able to go anywhere.

Karite soon dragged his catch back to the original place of battle. Slinging the deer down in front of Shisei. His face screamed of horror. It showed that something was wrong. The usual happy and hyper-active Reaper was nothing more then a clone of Shisei that went wrong. "So where is Orika?" Karite asked sitting down and dropping the staff and throwing down the Aninn Akurakk from his back. Sitting down he slicked his hair back and looked at the snake. "You got some guts there Shisei. I don't see how you can be so calm all the time. What happened to make you so dead?" Karite was traumatized but he still wanted to know what made this madman tick. It just wasn't normal. Laying back he called to Kore. And picked the fur ball up and sat him on his chest. Kore was tired and enjoyed the warm effect from Karite's chest he could tell.

Gold eyes continued a slightly mesmerized look towards the sky. They did not falter until a large animal was dropped in front of him. Another deer, broken and bloodied. Except it was from the reaper himself. Considering the heavy blow that resounded from Orika’s direction, Shisei thought lively girl would be back first. Not that he did not prefer the reaper’s company. Well he did not prefer either, but at least Karite would not be fussing about something. The serpent youth looked up to watch another emotionless face. Like a sculpted figure, making no movements or motions. Neither a twitch nor a jolt of expression. It was scarily similar to Shisei. As the boy’s voice came out monotonous and uncharismatic he asked a question in which the serpent youth could only shrug his shoulders. “She should be within that direction.” his voice stated with a point from his bloody finger. “That was from where noise came last. You may want to check on her. She might be dead.” The youth said quickly after as if to deter his peer from sitting beside him. As the boy peered at Shisei, the maverick returned with his stare. His ears picked up the question which made him contemplate for a second. “Dead…” the boy thought. He could not understand for sure. They thought of him as dead? His lips made a sound of interest as he thought how to answer the question.
“Dead..? Why are you and Orika so lively? You’ll have to be more specific in your question. For as long as I can remember, this is how I’ve been. Probably because my life has been different from what I guess would be the ‘usual’.” His voice replied before turning away from the reaper. He gazed around once to see if the third person of their party was returning. Where was the girl anyways? Amber orbs returned to the seemingly soulless reaper. “You seemed to be spooked. Did something interesting happen on your hunt?” Shisei asked. He was also curious with Karite’s seemingly changed expression.

Orika plugged her nose as she watched the gory scene, watched the blood drain from the deer. She didn't really care about the animal's death, for it was killed so she could live well. There was nothing wrong with that; All the other carnivores and omnivores killed to eat. All she was really interested in was the yummy venison. But the girl had never killed deer before so she wondered if the disgusting amount of blood pooling up would make the flavor go bad, like adding too much aged red wine? Orika shrugged to herself in the silence of the forest and grabbed the deer by the antlers, trying to pull it without remembering about her twice injured leg. This wouldn't do. She painstakingly hopped back to where Shisei and Karite were gathered, one looking slightly more confused than usual while the other was dejected. "I'm gonna need help getting that huge ol' buck over here," Orika announced with a huge smile on her face. She raised her hands to show them how big it was, then remembered that she'd lost the billy club somewhere in the dim-lit forest. "And if either of you see my club, though it's unlikely I supposed, I'd like to have it back," she chirped, already hopping up to search the area for the weapon, quite oblivious to the problems of the two boys until she got a clear glance at Karite's face. "Are you okay?" the girl asked testily, wondering what was going on. He looked like he'd seen a forest oni! "What'd you see that made ya look like a deer in torchlight, eh?" Orika asked.

Karite stood and looked towards Shisei. "Life is to short not to enjoy the subtle changes of the season. Death is to long not to memorize your pains." Again Karite was speaking in riddles and again his movements and facial expressions matched that of Shisei. "You always seem alone Shisei and always pushing those around you away like Maya does. When your alone you may as well be dead. Not that I want you dead, your good to have around when you not being a complete a**." Turning once Orika stated her kill. A shaking hand reached for the staff and stopped for a second. Before grabbing it, as if something propelled him not to. A fear of some sorts. He slung his head back quickly to shake away the loose hairs in his face and then He turned to Kore. "Come on buddy, lets see if you can find that club." He began to walk off Kore slumping along beside him. When he heard Orika speak he stopped. She wanted to know what happened to make him feel like this. It was not hard to explain, but hard to put into words that would give him time to get back to the grounds. Turning his a little so he could see both parties out the corner of his eye his spoke in nothing but riddles again, "You have a choice. Live or die. Every breath is a choice. Every minute is a choice. To be or not to be. Frankly the world is a fine place and worth the fighting for and I hate very much to leave it." With that said and off his sharpened tongue he made his way to the kill to drag it back so he could go to the only place he called home.
Kore was not sure what was going on but the same heat and vibrations he got from Karite on a normal base was not what he was feeling right now. It was much different and little scary. The cub could feel the words pouring from his chest and everyone felt heavier and more dead then the last. Something about this hunt really upset the boy and Kore could not help but feel it was his fault. Hunting was in his blood so seeing it from Karite's perspective would be hard and unusual at least. Jumping from the boys chest as he stood he waited for all three children to finish speaking and noticed Karite was going off and wanted him to follow. Where Karite went he went. That was the rules of their engagement. Nothing less and whole lot more. They were friends, partners, family, and together forever. So this was a hard time for the cub to see the boy like this. It showed as he followed him off to get the deer.

Shisei listened curiously to his peer’s words. The serpent youth was neither a poet nor a writer. Most of Karite’s speech passed through the boy’s ears like a strong wind through a tunnel. The Orochi did agree on life being too short, but for different reasons. What was the point for the strongest and best to succumb to death so quickly? A fleeting life just seemed so useless to even start. This concept Shisei has pondered before and would ponder frequently in the future, but for now his brain absorbed the other words of Karite. His tanned solemn voice had compared expressionless kid to Maya. While Shisei knew nothing of Maya, he could see that the girl seemed to express solitary behavior. Although the gold hair lioness and the white snake were different. The teen had her pet. Shisei had no one.
“Maya and I alike…. I doubt so, but if there are similarities of us being alone then she’s probably figured it out. When you put your faith in someone else they’ll just disappoint you in the end. That is just the nature of life. Aside from your mother and father, everyone else will betray you in the end…” the snake stated, thinking of his answer. After all it was true. This island that he was on was proof of that. The few people he put a miniscule amount of trust in on this island easily dissipated with one event. Seshiro and his elder brother betrayed the Tenmoki’s , supposedly his family, for his clan. Yuki had locked herself up away probably never wanting to see an Orochi again. She secluded herself so much that even her daughter was lost without anyone. Speaking of daughter’s the eldest one, Aya, had also gone missing, probably for the same reason. The perfect family so easily demolished. A glass house, no matter how beautiful, can easily be shattered. That is the fate of ties to other people in this world. That was human nature though. It was to be expected. At least in Shisei’s mind.
“It is infinitely difficult to form a bond with someone than it is the shatter it. Maya probably realized there was no point in working for something that can easily be erased. Just don’t mix up loneliness with solitude. Solitude is what makes you stronger. It is…” the snake child stopped his lecture as both of his eyes watched Karite walk off to find his staff or something. His left brow slightly lowered. How rude. Well hopefully he heard some of it, because Shisei was not feeling to repeat himself. His eyes then turned to hurt rabbit, who returned with a few more scars than when she left. She may have gotten damaged the worse of the three. With a displeasing shake of his head the youth began to walk in the direction of where Orika returned. “Just wait here. I’ll bring it back somehow. Think of a way to carry all this meat back to the grounds while you wait.” the snake ordered tiredly as if he was a general finally haggard from his troops.

Karite ignored Shisei as he spoke. Sometimes words were not needed and now was one of them. Walking towards the kill he saw the brains spattered around and he stopped. The image of his own kill came flooding back into his mind like a smell would linger after a good meal. He shook it off and calmed his gloved hands from shaking. Maya would see this and think something had gone wrong on the hunt. That was the last thing he needed right now was Maya accusing him of being inferior again. He had messed up enough. Now he just wanted to rest and leave the trouble to trouble makers. Sliding in the staff through the antlers he pulled what was left of the body towards the trap. It wasn't to heavy with the help of the snow, but carrying three like this might be hard, but if they built a sled type thing it would be easier, or used the vines and tied all their kills together and then just dragged them. "Kore find the club." Looking up towards the trap he yelled. "Take down the vines leave no trace we where here the last thing we need is someone saying students when in a forbidden section of the island."
Kore snapped from his dreaming as he heard Karite speak. He looked around and smelt nothing but the intensified smell of death. The forest itself was already drenched in the stuff. As the cub worked past that he continued to move along and sniffed along the snow only to smell more blood, but in it was a small scent of Orika. Keeping the smell fresh in his nose he continued to move long the forest his eyes buried into the floor looking for the club. As he sniffed and got closer to the smell of the girl he came to the club. Putting the strap into his mouth he began to drag the club along the floor following next to Karite towards Orika.
