Perking up from his place on Ampersands lap Luffy scampered over to his trainer dashing up her arm until he was resting comfortably on her shoulder. He wasn't sure what she was freaking out about but he also wasn't quite so sure why the bug from before was sleeping on the ground. Whatever it was it seemed to upset Robin.

"Oh Raz please get up!" Robin panicked her eyes wide as she looked down at her suddenly asleep pokemon.

Pushing himself up Ampersand sighed softly, it appeared it just seemed to be the Aipom that was immune to his energy stealing. "Don't worry there isn't anything wrong with your Yanma, Miss Knight." Going over to stand across from her he frowned slightly for a second before explaining. "For some reason, I have never really found out why, not through lack of trying though. Whenever I am near a pokemon I seem to suck the energy out of them. They become sluggish and if they are within around three feet of me they just fall asleep. Nothing is wrong with him, if I walk away he will come right back up as if nothing happened to him at all." He explained in a calm voice as he looked down at the sleeping Yanma.

Confused for a second Robin looked from between her new pokemon and Ampersand, then back at her pokemon. "But... but," She really didn't understand all that well, she had never heard of something like this before, on her shoulder Luffy shifted sensing his trainers discomfort. That was when something hit Robin as strange, Luffy was a pokemon and he seemed fine. "Hey! Luffy isn't effected by you!" She accused pointing a finger at Ampersand accusingly.

At that Ampersand grinned at her and tipped his hat somewhat at her. "No he isn't he is the only pokemon I have ever meet who hasn't been. So that was one of the reasons I was wondering if I could travel with you. To see if I could find out a reason why this is exactly."

Taken aback Robin blinked at him startled at the question. "Umm... I don't... ah... I don't have a problem with it. I don't really have any place to be though. I mean I am sure you could find someone more interesting to be around." As she went on a big blush spread over her checks.

Grinning at that Ampersand just chuckled slightly before reaching up and ruffling her hair with his rough hands. "That's ok. It just so happens to be that I have a little bit of business in Kanto to take care of. Why don't you come with me. It's in Viridian but that isn't to far from Pallet town. You can visit Professor Oak while I conduct my business. It shouldn't take to long at all really."

"Umm..." Robin wasn't really sure. The meeting with Professor Rowan was coming up soon and she really did not want to miss that. "How long would it be? I kinda wanna go to the beach party..." She trailed off, she had also promised Kilik that she would meet him there.

"Oh maybe two days, tops. traveling would take up most of the time." Ampersand offered. "We can head right from here to the port in Vermillion to take the boat right to Slateport for your party."

Bitting her bottom lip Robin wasn't quite sure but everything seemed to be all right. It would also be cool to meet Professor Oak to, she could learn so much from him. "All right, then it sounds like a good idea." She grinned up at him. " I still want to battle though so you will have to back up some then."

Grinning warmly at her Ampersand tipped his hat back and held out his hand for her. "Well thanks a lot Miss Knight. I promise to back up if you want a battle."

Taking his hand a warm grin on her face as well. "Deal!"

Lairon buckled beneath the attack. The weight of his body, combined with the force of the Rock Smash, made him create four small craters beneath his feet. When the Mightyena had backed off, the Iron Armor Pokemon shook his body and let out a loud roar from the bottom of his throat, seemingly out of pure rage.

Kilik looked over at the Cloyster then bit his lip. Should he help Mike and get the Tentacruel off of him or go on and hit Mightyena with another attack? His eyes darted from each of his opponent's Pokemon and he raised a thumb to his lips, biting down. He winced when he pulled it away; he'd broken the skin. A small amount of blood began to trickle down his thumb and trailed to the right. Looking over his thumb, Kilik decided to follow the trail of his blood to his target. That would make it...

"Lairon!" he swept the air with his arm, "Use Take Down on Mightyena!" The beast slammed his front two feet on the ground rather harshly, making the craters for those respective paws even deeper and larger. He charged towards the canine, hoping to break a few bones this time. His eyes burned with the passion for battle.

Kasiya blinked a few times and rubbed her eyes to make sure she was seeing who she thought she was seeing. "Flannery! It's you! What are you doing way out here in Mauville? Shouldn't you be in Lavaridge?"

"What, can't a girl travel?" Flannery replied with a chuckle, looking around in dismay at the assortment of coins that had fallen all over the place. "Can I get a hand here?" she asked, bending down to return them to the bag in which they'd been held in. "Good thing there weren't too many in here."

"Oh, yeah, sorry about that," Kasiya said, dropping to the ground to help Flannery recover her lost coins. It took about ten minutes or so but when they were finished, they were sure that nearly all of them had been safely recovered. "Traveling then?" Kasiya asked after they'd both reentered the Pokemon Center, and Kasiya had given the Pokemon in need of treatment to the nurse. "What brings you to Mauville then?"

"What, are you kidding me? The casino! What else?" Flannery patted the Coin Case attached firmly to her side and studied Kasiya. "There was a great promotion today," she added quickly, looking at the ground when she saw the look Kasiya was giving her. Perhaps shirking her gym leader responsibilities and heading to the casino wasn't the best plan for today but she wasn't about to tell anyone that. "They were giving free drinks to players today," she mumbled, fiddling with her belt buckle. "Don't judge me!" she wailed, falling to her knees somewhat dramatically. "Being a gym leader is hard! I needed a break sometimes too, you know!!"

"Great, now if we wanna get you to your party on time we should be heading out." Ampersand said as he made his way over to the door. Before going through he paused slightly and turned around to face Robin a serious look on his face despite the small smile. " I would appreciate it if you didn't tell anyone about my, ah, ability?"

Not quite sure why Robin nodded in agreement not seeing any reason why she should tell anyone. Bending down she picked up little Razputin and followed Ampersand out the door. She still couldn't believe that she was going to another region with this really cool, 'and handsome.' she thought with a giggle, guy. All and all this had been a great day so far, she got to ride on a Flygon, Luffy and her caught their first pokemon, and she had meet a guy she was going to Kanto with. Giddy she followed him out barely noticing that the farther away he got the more active Razputin became, though he fell back asleep when she got closer. When she reached his side she smiled at him. "Thank you for inviting me to come with you again."

Looking down at her and tipping his hat slightly he grinned. "No problem Miss Knight. It might be nice to have a traveling companion."

By now both of them were outside the National Park and making there way down to the train station that would take them to Kanto. Robin didn't notice the pokemon around them sort of drop down drowsily as they walked by before springing back into action the moment they passed.

On her shoulder Luffy could feel the excitement around his trainer. What he was more interested in was the Yanma sleeping in her arms. It was his same friend he had made from before. Maybe he was coming with them, that would be really fun. Another friend to help them out on their journey.

As they walked down the road a older girl approached them, or rather she approached Ampersand. "Hey there cuttie! Why don't you ditch the little girl and head out with a real woman." She said twirling her blonde hair between her fingers. She didn't even look at Robin as she placed a well manicured hand on Ampersands arm.

Puffing her cheeks out Robin pouted at being ignored like that. She wasn't surprised she just didn't have to like it. Curling around her neck Luffy stared at the pretty lady who seemed to be getting his trainer so upset.

For his part Ampersand just gave her a look from under his hat. "Sorry to disappoint you Missie but I can't just ditch my little sister like that now can I?" He was lying and while Robin wasn't quite sure why that didn't mean she was going to complain.

The lady pouted somewhat before brightening up. "Well could I join you two on your little adventure. I am sure my pokemon would be a great assistance to you both. Since your little sister seems to be a rookie trainer."

Not liking to be called a rookie trainer, even though she was, Robin stepped forward. "Hey! You take that back! I bet I could beat your pokemon!" She blurted out forgetting momentarily they were on a bit of a time constraint. Blushing slightly as she remembered she turned to look at her older companion. "Do we have time for a battle?"

Glancing down at his watch on his wrist he thought for a moment before nodding. "Yeah but we only have an hour and a half until the train to Saffron leaves. So we can't spend to much time battling." That said the older man stepped back so that his strange aura wouldn't affect the pokemon. "All right ladies have fun." He called out from where he was now leaning against the fence on the side of the road.

Now free from his drowsy haze Razputin woke up and buzzed up to rest on top of Robin's head. He didn't really know why he had fallen asleep like that but he seemed fine now so that was ok!

Across from them the beauty pulled out a pokeball from her purse. "Ok let's have a two on two battle!" She called out.

"No problems here! All right Lu-" She was interrupted though by instead of Luffy jumping off of her shoulder she felt her newest pokemon take off from his perch on her head and fly onto the battle field. "Or Razputin, you can go out to." Ruffling through her bag she pulled it out and looked at the list of moves her newest pokemon could use.

"Heh, well it looks like your sleepy little insect woke up. No matter it won't be any use against my Eevee!" That said she tossed her pokeball out to reveal the small brown pokemon. It looked like it was well taken care of its fur all brushed out perfectly as it pranced around on small paws.

Mary-Anne fell back into the world of awareness with a jerk the moment she felt the ground meet her again. Wait. . . again?

Oh, right, it was all coming back to her now; her father was hurt to who knows what extent (a frown), and right in front of her was Michael (a small smile). And now they were in some city in Hoenn she vaguely remembered as having seen before when she was little, but couldn't recall the name of.

"Mornin', Sleeping Beauty," her brother smirked, poking her forehead with his index finger. "Though 'terror' would work better than 'beauty' --" he was cut off by M.A. shoving his side playfully. "Yeesh, such violence towards little ol' me," he feinted, half-falling off the Tropius as if he was feeling a bit woozy. Naturally, though, he landed perfectly and gave a hand to M.A. to help her down as well.

"Mm... I've gotta return this Tropius back to Stephen soon," he murmured more to himself than anything, pulling out a GreatBall and recalling the Pokemon after giving it a 'thank-you' and an appreciative pat. "Looks like you've got an eye for seeing how well a Pokemon's been tended to (ought to, too! You've got an ex-coordinater as a brother, you know.) Stephen's one hell of an amazing breeder," Michael said, having noted the foggy look of admiration M.A. momentarily held in her eyes. The girl nodded, smiling with her eyes glazed and head tilted, apparently still a bit spaced out from her nap. Michael sighed, shaking his head. What a loveable little dunce she was sometimes. He couldn't help but think it'd be easy for some guy to walk in and take advantage of her naive persona, though (insert PBH, Protective Brother Hormone). "Let's get going," he said, taking her hand and tugging her in some direction. "Pops is here at the hospital in Slateport."

Mary-Anne's mood sombered again as she finally shook herself awake to keep up with Michael's long strides. That's right. Michael had kept her from worrying too much on the way here, but they had no idea how their father was... He's probably alright, she thought to herself. It'd take nothing less than a rampaging herd of Rhydons on steroids to take Dad down.

What? How could he say something like that, did Crenu not care about his pokemon? Sure he didn't like to lose, but Ky could never even consider letting his pokemon battle to the point of collapsing. As a trainer it was their duty to know exactly when to throw in the towel for the well being of the pokemon, Crenu had to have known that. But the main thing now was to focus on the battle. "Don't look at her Sting, use Focus Energy!" Sting did his best to block out the piercing gaze of the Ariados staring him down, listening to Ky's command he crossed his arms and tried to block his mind from every distraction and center his attention on precise and critical strikes. Despite his best efforts though, Sting could still feel the cold grip of fear that would cause mental hesitation and slower reaction time, ultimately cutting his speed.

"Not bad Ky, but do you think your Beedrill will be able to land a hit in his current state? Ariados, Constrict!" Ariados regained her normal stance and immediately fired a tough looking coil of silk at the Beedrill.

Sting is much faster than Ariados, Crenu knows that. He can't be trying to bluff can he? Whatever he has planned, I won't give him a chance to pull anything this time. "There's no way your Ariados is quicker than my Beedrill, no matter what state he's in! Sting, break through that attack with Fury Attack!" Sting buzzed loudly and rocketed forwards at Ariados, as he closed in he began to jab rapidly at her with his needle arms.

Crenu had to admit, he didn't expect Ariados's silk to be broken through so easily. But this was no concern, he already had another plan up his sleeve. "What's this? Trying to match muscle with my Ariados? A Beedrill may have higher speed, but Ariados always comes out on top when it comes to attack strength. I've done my research Ky, you should do the same! Ariados, Fury Swipes, show that buzzing nuisance a real bug's fury!" Ariados appeared stunned by the Beedrill's sudden attack, but she managed to keep her focus and snapped the silk on her end. Scurrying forward, Ariados rose her two front legs and began to rapidly rake at the pokemon with their sharp hooked ends. The two pokemon met in a fray of swipes and jabs, each blow parrying another. The movements were rapid and hard to follow, but thanks to the Scary Face she had placed on him earlier, the Beedrill's jabs were not as fast as they should have been. She could feel a few of his attacks get through and jab her body hard, but Crenu was not worried. He knew her hits would be deeper and harder. She fought on until the fray had ended.

Sting could feel his arms being knocked away by her legs and vise versa. Above that he could also feel that he was landing some good hits, but for every hit he landed he could feel one of hers hitting as well. Sting could feel his exoskeleton being scratched up by her legs as they hooked into him and dragged across his body, the pain was sharp and getting to be more than he could handle. Sting managed to break free as both pokemon's attack ceased. Damn it, she got Sting good. But I know Sting landed some good hits, too. "Sting, use Harden!" Sting buzzed in agreement and crossed his arms again, this time he focused on his hardening his body and increasing his defenses, Sting tightened every muscle in his body and hardened his exoskeleton.

"Just gonna sit there and try to take your hits like a man now are you? Good, but you're forgetting, there's more than one way to hurt an opponent. Ariados, Night Shade!" Ariados hissed happily as a dark purple aura began to gather on her leg like antenna. Gathering the ghostly energy on the tips of the antenna, she released it towards the Beedrill.

"You love to talk don't you. Well if it worked once before, then why not again!" Then again, the last time I used it Totodile got hurt pretty bad. But it's getting desperate, and this is a battle I can't afford to lose! "Sting, Rage!"

A stunned sort of grin was frozen on Miharu's face after she'd heard her name called, and she stared up at the chairman in awe. "Me? Really?" she asked, and received a nod in reply. She gave a little smile as she went up to the front of the room to claim her prize, silently gloating. She was very proud that the only two girls in the competition had placed, and it made her feel very elated. She held the Park Ball tightly in her hands for a moment before putting it into the empty slot on her belt, and then she took the small box containing her Water Stone from the chairman, staring down at it in amazement. "It's so pretty," she murmured, touching it lightly with her fingers. It was cool and smooth, and Miharu found herself admiring the way the water had been sealed within it's crystalline casing. "Thank you," she said, after shaking his hand. "Thank you so much!"

There was a newfound spring in her step as she exited the building and reentered the Park. Her next stop would be the Pokemon Center, because Aska was in need of healing. However, it wasn't going to happen anytime soon. A couple of boys stepped in her path as she'd started walking, neither of them looking too impressed. Miharu didn't change her expression even as they sneered at her, and just attempted to walk around them.

"Hold it, shrimp," the first boy said, once again blocking her way.

"Get out of my way," Miharu said slowly, glaring daggers at the boys with her bright green eyes.

"So what's up with a girl winning the Bug contest anyway?" he went on, ignoring the fact that she'd spoken up. "That must have been a pretty tough Pinsir if it beat my Beedrill."

"Ah, you must be William," she said, tilting her head to the side. "What's the matter? Sore loser?" She knew she should probably just be ignoring the two boys, but for some reason, the fact that she'd won the contest just wouldn't let her. Pride, maybe?

"Ok lets get this battle started! Raz lets start off with your Double Team!" Robin ordered picking a move off of the small list she was given. The list was small now but as she looked at it there was a lot more that Raz would learn latter on. In front of her Raz let out a happy chirp and using his high speed he created illusions of himself in an effort to confuse the Eevee.

The small brown pokemon gave a small confused cry at the now 'two' pokemon in front of him. "Oh Eevee don't let that ugly girls pokemon trick you! Use your Sand Attack on it!" Responding to his trainers cry the small Eevee turned around and started kicking up dirt in Razputin's direction.

It was a good thing that Raz was using Double Team and was so fast that the rush of sand didn't hit him. "Great Job Raz!" Robin cheered happily. In front of her the double Yanma's did a little flip of joy. "Ok now lets go with a Quick Attack!" Robin cheered. On her shoulder Luffy didn't seem to understand why he was not battling but his new friend was. Maybe they did have a new teamate? That would be very cool!

"Oh Eevee! Hit that bug with your Tackle attack!" The Beauty across from them ordered a worried look on her face.

Both of the pokemon made a dash at each other. In the air Raz and his 'copy' were doing barrel rolls as they speed forward going much faster then the Eevee due to the Quick Attack and there boosted speed. The Eevee was also dashing forward, with much less showboating to. Eventually both of the two pokemon clashed hitting each other dead on. The Eevee fell back and Razputin went flying through the air for a few feet before coming to a halt.

Glowing again as his speed went up again Raz decided to take advantage of this and with out waiting for a command dashed forward in a another Quick Attack.

"Eevee catch that pokemon in another Sand Attack!" The Beauty ordered her pokemon. Giving a small cry the Eevee flipped around just in time to kick up some more sand right into Razs face.

Giving a small cry the Yanma backed off not even finishing his attack, he just wanted to get the sand out of his eyes. On the side Robin pouted somewhat, "Raz you need to wait for me to give you an order!" She cried. Turning to her pokedex again she flipped through her moves again hoping to find one to help her out.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 13, 2008 12:08 pm

"All right Eevee! Lets get that bug while its distracted! Use your Tackle attack again!" The beauty cheered. Liking the sound of that the Eevee dashed forward and rammed its small body against Raz who was trying to scrape the sand out of his goggles.

Upon feeling the impact on his body Raz gave a cry, he didn't like the pain or sand in his eyes. "Raz use Foresight!" Robin ordered wanting that sand out of her pokemon's eyes. Relaxing somewhat Raz closed his eyes and felt the area grow around him as his other sense's expanded. While he had sand in his eyes he could sense the Eevee just fine now. Happy Raz did another little flip as he glowed as his speed was once again boosted. "Great job Raz! Lets have another Quick Attack!" Robin ordered feeling her excitement grow. Using his boosted speed and his new 'sight' Raz dashed forward over whelming the Eevee with his speed as he smashed into the small brown pokemon in a surprise critical hit.

The Eevee gave a small cry and stumbled on its feet before falling to the ground. "Oh Eevee!" The beauty cried out as she recalled her pokemon. "You nasty little girl! How dare you and your ugly bug hurt my beautiful Eevee! Well let's see you get past my next pokemon! Let's go Meowth!" Tossing out her pokeball she released the cat like pokemon the coin on its head glinting in the sun.

Upon seeing the new pokemon Robin frowned, Raz was hurt and he had done a great job so far. Reaching for his park ball she recalled him back. "You did a wonderful job Raz." She congratulated, she did feel a large sense of pride at her newest partner. Turning and grinning up at Luffy, who grinned back just as wide. "Your up Luffy." Jumping off of his perch Luffy dashed forward onto the field and took a fighting stance.

Crenu watched as the Beedrill became lost in rage. "Dejavu, you aren't doing much to keep me interested are you? Ariados, Poison Sting!" Ariados rose her body off of the groudn and cocked her ehad back, all the while trying to ignor the ebraged pokemon. She shot her head forward and released the spray of poison needles at Sting, hoping that he wasn't going to plow through it as he did her last attack.

"Sting, hit her with all your might!" Sting had completely lost it, Ky's words went through, but all that he could register was a blood thirsty will to destroy his opponent. Sting shot forward like a cannon ball, ignoring the ghostly shade of energy that wrapped itself aroudn his body to deal him damage. Nothing could stop him now, the damage was dealt but he didn't feel it, instead it only made him stronger. Meeting the spray of needles head on Sting ripped through it with little effort, recieving little damage but a power boost none the less. Closing in on his opponent, Sting thrusted his his arms forward for a terrible hit.

"Damn it, Ariados move!" It as too late, the speedy Beedrill, speed reduction or not, was to quick for Ariados. Like a jouster on a horse, Beedrill rammed his lance like arms into Ariados and sent her flying. The hit was hard and Ariados took critical damage, it was with much effort that she was able to feebly stand on shaky legs. "Damn, come on Ariados, Constrict!" Ariados weakly opened her jowels and shot a weak string of silk at the Beedrill, sble to do little else as she recovered.

"Coem on Sting, hit her again and finish this!" Beedrill buzzed loudly as the coiling string wrapped around him and started to squeeze tightly. Sting struggled angrily and broke free, his enraged state was too powerfull and he immediatly shot after Ariados again.

"Damn, Ariados Fury Swipes!" Ariados locked eyes with the coming threat, she clicked angrilly and with all her might she started forward for an attack. The Beedrill closed in quickly, but Ariados's speed increased by the second. Within seconds she was covered in a black aura of dark energy and within seconds was nothing more than a black streak shooting across the arena floor at insane speed. "The hell!?"

Completly taken aback by the strange attack, Ky and Sting didn't have time to react. Sting went in for the attack and suddenly lost sight of his target, all he would see was a black blurr that disappeared from view. The next moment, all Ky could see was a black mass plow into Sting, the dark energy lashed out at Sting's already damaged body, the tackle and the dark energy was a two pronged attack like neither trainer had ever seen. Sting fell back against a tree and weakly buzzed as he tried to get back up. Overwhelmed by the attack and the returnign feeling, Sting collapsed on the ground. "...That's enough, good effort Sting. You fought yoru hardest." Ky recalled Sting, fighting back a sad look that he was sure crossed hsi face. He wasn't to confident any more.

The black mass sank into teh ground and revealed ariados standing in the middle of the battle field. "Ariados, good job. Looks like you've been holding out on me. Return." Crenu called back Sting as well and grinned.

The only preparations Jaeshan made before heading out to the Petalburg Woods was a rather large purchase of berries for the road. After giving a few to his Pokemon he set out, full of resolve to get to Rustboro City before lunch time. He knew there would be battles along the way, and he was fine with that, he just decided to set a goal and try to reach it. He wanted to challenge Roxanne today, but if he let himself dawdle, then he'd just keep putting it off, and he was always the one to procrastinate.

He stole a quick glance towards the Petalburg Gym as he passed it, knowing that he wasn't yet ready to take on Norman. Well, he probably could if he stuck with Mightyena, Nidoking and Victreebel, but he did want to give the others a chance to catch up. He exited the city and continued to head west, finding it odd that he hadn't encountered any trainers along the way so far. He could hear the roar of the ocean and see the shimmer of green-blue in the horizon, and he was reminded of the Beach Party occurring within a few days. While he was kind of certain that he wouldn't see Ryka there, he felt better knowing he'd see some of his other friends there, or at least that was what he was hoping. With those thoughts in his mind, as well as Combusken's recent evolution, he reached the forest's entrance. The last time he'd been there, it had been with Gwen, and the memory of that battle was still fresh in mind. I wonder how she's doing, he thought, passing the threshold and entering the cool woods, the sun all but disappearing as the tree canopy served as a perfect umbrella. It was quiet and peaceful, just as it had been last time, and Jaeshan closed his eyes and breathed in the scent of the trees and foliage. He loved these woods, and it was never upsetting to have to pass through them. In the distance he could hear the cooing of a Taillow, and out of the corner of his eye he spotted several Wurmple munching on tree leaves. As he passed them, he wondered if they would evolve into Silcoon or Cascoon, although he didn't dwell on them too long.

Kasiya and Flannery had picked up the majority of the coins by the time Keegan reached them, and he spotted a few lying idly nearby as he approached them. He was just in time to witness Flannery flailing about, and he chuckled, holding out the coins in the palm of his hand, a wide smirk plastered across his face. "If nobody was judging you before, I think they might be having second thoughts about it," he said, throwing the coins up and down a few times before tossing them on the ground in front of her. "But it is good to see you out and about, Flan. Besides, you're just the lady I wanted to see." He placed his hands on his hips and looked to Kasiya. "Should be a few hours before your bike is repaired," he added.

"And my Butterfree should have taken at least third, not that good-for-nothing Yanma," the second boy went on, prodding a finger at Miharu. "There's no way a couple of girls could have done that well!"

"You got that right, Joshua," William laughed, crossing his arms. "That Water Stone is rightfully mine, so I demand you give it to me right this instant."

"You forgot to say please," she said quickly, hands on her hips. "And I don't like to play with boys who don't mind their manners."

"That does it, you're gonna pay for that!" Joshua yelled, holding up a Park Ball. "We're going to show you how real bug catchers play this game!"

"You're going to battle us," William nodded, also holding up a Park Ball. Miharu didn't really have to guess who her opponents would be this time, and she wished that Aska was healthy enough to take part in the battle. "Show us just how strong your Pinsir actually is, and then maybe we'll let you go."

You have got to be kidding, Miharu thought, rolling her eyes. "Whatever. You jerks are going to owe me one after this," she said, her voice low. She took the Pinsir's Pokeball from her belt and threw it, ready to begin. It was then she realized she hadn't named the bug yet. The boys both sent out their Pokemon at the same time, a Beedrill and a Butterfree. "Oh, a double battle," she mumbled, reaching for a second Pokemon. "Let's go get 'em, Sparkle!" The little Mareep materialized in front of her, gazing up at the large menacing bug with wide eyes. She gave a little bleat and ran over to her new partner, rubbing her woolly head against the Pinsir's leg. For a horrifying instant Miharu thought the Pinsir was going to snap and attack her own partner, but she sighed with relief as the Pinsir seemed to welcome the affection and gestured towards the two bug Pokemon. Sparkle nodded, and the duo took up battle stances and prepared to fight.

Good, they're getting along, Miharu thought, the back of her mind searching for a name for the Pinsir. "Okay you two, let's show these punks why we won the contest! Sparkle, Thundershock attack on that Butterfree, now! Pinsir, get fired up with Focus Energy!" The small green-haired girl pointed at her opponents, wearing a determined grin. She wasn't about to let these two punks show her up.

On William's order, the Beedrill shot forward, jabbing at the Pinsir with its sharp forelegs - Fury Attack. Pinsir held her arms up protectively, blocking most of the attacks. Then, she stepped back, letting out a loud growl as she psyched herself up for battle. In the meantime, the excitable little Mareep had hopped up and down to generate her electricity, and the energy was launched from her body in a bluish-streak. The Butterfree let out a pained cry as the attack was super-effective, and the remaining static crackled over its body as it struggled to stay in the air. Joshua called for a Confusion attack, and Butterfree complied, its body glowing with a greenish psychic aura that shot out to engulf Sparkle. All Pokemon on the battlefield were still very ready to battle though, and both sides exchanged glares, neither wanting to go down without a fight.
