@lu-tze: People have gone as far as saying that Serenity is on the Star Wars level of greatness in Sci-Fi. Yes, it's -THAT- damn good.

Personally, Serenity looked like a pile of s**t in the trailer. I'm not sure if it's actually better than the trailer, or if it's just not my taste, but lame sci-fi jokes bundled with cliches don't exactly fit my idea of greatness.

Yeah, the movie does have some jokes in it but so did the Show. I mean, if you're in a small ship with a bunch of other people, (i think) you'd have to be cracking jokes about stuff to break tension. The movie doesn't have as many jokes as they cram into the trailor though. They are there, but they are very well placed. They seem very natural, to me at least.
Give the movie a chance, I was very skeptical about it when I first saw it as well.

ButterBalls This is why I absolutely despise and hate Bush and this reason alone will make me never like him even with all the other "great" things he's done for this country:
CNN - News
And the most disgusting thing about the issue is that it is, in fact, just like racism in the sense of social equality.
CNN News Again
This quote specifically:
"Many Americans do not want persons who openly engage in homosexual conduct as partners in their business, as scoutmasters for their children, as teachers in their children's schools, or as boarders in their home," Scalia wrote. "They view this as protecting themselves and their families from a lifestyle that they believe to be immoral and destructive." The sad thing is that the above quote is indeed true (at least in the sense that people are opposed to gay rights). I mean, even in Oregon, which is one of the more liberal states, gay marriage was opposed by 57% of voters in the 04 elections. http://www.gay.com/news/election/article.html?2005/08/08/1And according to this, gay marriage is supported by only 35% of Americans. (53% support civil unions). What's worse in my opinion is that these numbers have gone up from previous years. I can't believe they were actually lower than 35%, which is still rediculously low.

My thing on it is that either everyone gets it or nobody gets it. If homosexuals can't marry than neither can heterosexuals. If civil unions are for homosexuals it should be for heterosexuals too. So, I wouldn't support the civil unions or I would only support it as a "Mmk, they gave us this, now let's go to the next level."
I still beg to differ on the homosexuality issue. No one has ever given me one good point. If there was, I would recognize it. Nothing.

To those who don't believe in God, of course those aren't going to make sense.
I still don't get it. I'm just glad I live in liberal-minded Canada.

I think that the religion aspect should taken out of the legal part of wedding. Wether they want to call it marriage or cival union every couple should be afforded the same rights by the government and then they can preform what ever type of ceremony they wish.

@AraTeran: I love your sig. Everytime I see it, it makes me want to draw or something.
No one has posted in this thread in awhile. I'm in a post-y mood so I think I will. Heh. I should go to GD and b***h there about stuff. Tomorrow I am not going to school. We have a half day and I just decided that I do not want to go. I also don't have school thursday and friday. It's UEA which stands for Utah Education Association. Dunno how that equals getting a couple days off of school, though.

As for my sig, I like it too smile It kinda looks like me...ok, so not really, but the hair and eyes are the right color. It wasn't drawn by me though; it was drawn by Soteh as a freebie in an art auction. The requests and commissions thread is probably my favorite after LI, assuming I have any gold to spend on art or time to bump for freebies.
