Leon sighed and looked up at the stars, knowing that none of his questions had been answered and resigning himself to assume that they may have thought that he was thinking out loud. He picked another piece of grass and chewed on it, figuring that he'd keep watch on the main encampment while the other two would get the perimeter. Basic tactics stuff. He cracked his neck as he sat down right up against the stone circle of the fire. It felt warm and welcoming and he began to think 'maybe, just maybe, I have found a place where I belong.' He shook the thought away, figuring that they would not welcome him so warmly tomorrow night or even as soon as morning. He drew up his naginata and set it across his lap, making sure of his cutlass as well. He poked at the fire gently with a random stick as it died down. For some reason he interpreted it as a sign that the end was indeed near. He turned around at the new girl. "Most of the people here are asleep, but they let me stay, so I don't see why you may not. There is plenty of room, so please relax. Get some sleep, you look like you could use it." he said kindly. If she was going to get in trouble for sleeping here, he figured that he would take the blame. It was in his nature.

Talon blinked in surprise as the Ibixian acknowledged her. That was the first time she'd actually seen one of his race. They were interesting creatures. She looked him over, appraising the impressive horns he had.

And he was right. Most of the group were asleep, or close to it. There were a few humans, two of them asleep, a Ferrile, and a couple of elves. That was such a strange mix. She'd have to remember to keep quiet around the Ferrile - not like that was a problem.

She allowed a quick, small smile at the Ibixian's friendly words. They were the first, besides the boy's, she heard in a while that were welcoming. That was a good sign indeed. Her feet pulsed, a small ache spreading through their soles. And he was right, she was feeling a little tired. The prospect of rest appealed to her, so she came closer to the fire, edged around the pair of sleeping humans, and sat a little closer to the only person who had seemed to notice her. The smell of the spiced meat made her mouth water. She ran out of tail rations about a week ago, and only ate a thin rabbit since then, which wasn't a very satisfying meal. "Thank you." she said, looking at the goat-man. Tal wouldn't grab for a kabob since she wasn't sure if she was welcome to them, so she leaned back against a tree and closed her eyes, letting her mind drift off.

Leon's ears perked up as he heard a very very faint rumbling in the woman's stomach. He made a half laugh with a big smile as he picked up a kabob from the swiftly dying fire. He walked almost silently over to the woman. "Here, have mine. I don't eat meat anyway." he said gently, trying to make sure that he didn't wake the others as he offered the woman the kabob. "My name's Leon." His voice was soothing and certainly had the low tone that was at the right pitch to relax people. It was common among his people, and another reason the ibixians were said to be related to the mythological satyr. It wasn't something he put any effort into, and often thought that if he could change it, he would.

[[Sorry it's so horribly short... I'm a little braindead at the moment...]]

"Oh..." She took the food gratefully, now genuinely grateful for the kindness he was showing. It felt so strange to be in such a warm atmosphere with so many people, even if they weren't exactly all conscious.

Without asking whether he was just sacrificing his appetite to be nice, she bit into the meat, closing her eyes and relishing in the taste of well-cooked food. It was amazing. Swallowing, she smiled, wider this time, at the Ibixian she now knew as Leon. His kindness confused her a bit, for they hadn't even really conversed, but it felt good to be looked at as an equal instead of a hireling. "I'm Talon, and thank you again." she said as she nodded.

The scenery around her started to get slightly blurry after she finished the delicious food. Tal was oh-so tired now that she was in a comfortable, safe place, and that let her guard down. Her lids felt heavy, so she let her weariness take over, and she fell asleep.

{{I'll get a post out soon, I promise. It's just that I had one, was ready to post, and... exited out of the box.

So, excuse me while I try to get my inspiration back and choke FMT with this piano wire. <3333333}}

((*wipes the sweat from his brow* Whew! I thought I had missed my chance to get a post in before the time skip when I saw Yoko's name listed as the latest person to post! *types frantically*))

Seraphis glanced at all of the newcomers that their little fire had attracted. He said nothing, but, rather, gave them all a welcoming smile. Their little group was growing quickly. He sincerely hoped that the others would accept their presence. He also hoped that these three would be willing to join them. One could never have too many allies while hunting the spawn. He silently appraised each of them and they all seemed like they would be able to hold their own. Still, he was getting ahead of himself. These issues would probably be resolved in the morning. Suddenly, he felt a weight gently press on his shoulder. He turned his head and what he saw made him visibly blush. There laid Silver's head, dozing as sleep came to claim her.

A thousand thoughts ran through his mind, nearly all of them irrational. He closed his eyes and took a deep, cleansing breath to clear his head. If only she knew what she was doing to him! He was done denying his feelings. He was infatuated with this woman. To deny it any longer would be pure foolishness on his part. He wanted so many things in that moment. So many shallow, self serving things... But that wasn't the kind of person he was. Besides, he was hardly ready for any romance right now. The memory of Burenna clung to his heart with an iron grip. But it's been so long... Seraphis gazed at Silver for a long time, watching her sleep. It was the only time he had seen her so peaceful... So serene... She was so beautiful...

'Foolishness,' Seraphis thought to himself, doing his best to dispel his thoughts. He reasoned that he was still very tired from the battle and he wasn't thinking rationally. Letting out a resigned sigh, he promised himself that he would sort himself out in the morning. It would wait until then. Gently, he rested his head against Silver's head and the tree. It was then when her scent filled his nostrils. Lavender and waterfalls... The last thought Seraphis remembered having before he slept that night was, 'Intoxicating...'

Leon nodded to the woman who he now knew as Talon. It was an interesting name, but who was he to talk about the weird? As soon as she fell asleep, he quietly backed away from her as to not wake her and went up to the fire and stared at the red coals.

It was ironic; today was the anniversary of his master's death. A sudden wash of depression hit Leon like a brick wall as all of the memories flooded back of his only fatherly figure. He sighed and held his head with one hand as a few tears escaped his eyes. He continued to stare at the coals as he reached for his jug of liquor. It was half empty, but Leon didn't care as he pulled the stopper out of the neck of the bottle and drank. He would not be sleeping tonight, he had too much on his mind. Instead, he went into a deep meditation on the slowly dimming embers.

((Yeah, I know what you mean.))

(Oh come on, he's not that loud!)

Looking up from where he was cooking his raw fish, he noticed how everyone seemed to be nodding off. He grinned amused as the teleporter came over and picked up a piece of deer and began chewing on it. The thing must taste nice...

He posed dramatically from where he was near the fire, muttering something like "I cannot eat the poor thing, after hitting it so many times with the sock of rock."

He ignored the fact that he technically stabbed the living crap out of the fish he was eating.

Leaving the fish bone sticking out of his mouth, he cooked another one, grinning when a hungry cat or two came over, interested in the smell of cooking fish.

"Thought you guys might like this stuff." he said, sounded a little awkward as he struggled to keep the bone in his mouth while talking. "Eat up and then go to sleep alright?"

The cats meowed.

"Damn straight."

He clapped his hand, before announcing in a whisper.

"Alright ladies and gentlemen, sleep time. We have a long day of magic, sharp poking things and monsters of mass destruction tomorrow! We will want to be well rested!"

The lady with the 2 swords and the magic guy were already dozing off. He offered the still slightly awake guy a thumbs up, which he probably didn't see, before dropping off a cooked fish in front of the hungry cats.

The cat girl had climbed into a tree near the leader, and he sent her random hand signals to indicate he was sorry about being so loud. His sign language was rather limited, as he mostly knew rude ones, but he settled for a peace sign.

The cat girl probably ignored him. Oh well.

The chef had left, off to do whatever chef people do. The new guy had drank a large portion of whatever liquid he was carrying around and was meditating. The ghost girl he had met was next to him, chewing on the deer kebab.

"How disgustingly peaceful..." he thought to himself, walking off the lean against a tree. "I suppose I'll do some watch until chef comes back." He drew his dagger and watched the party with an interested look on his face.

"Wonder if they'll teach me how to combust like that fire spawn?"

{{I will not try to say anything back. xD;

And remember that means that Blade is speaking in elven.}}

Blade slept. Hard. When she woke up one of her legs had gone numb because the other was crossed over it. She pulled her eyelids open, slowly, and then moved her leg. She moved her toes in an attempt to send blood flowing through her numbed leg. She let go of Grenth' hand and slowly sat up, her mind in a happy morning fog. She looked around the camp before standing up, limping on her leg towards where she could sense a temperature drop. Soon her leg returned to relative normality and the sound of running water met her ears. As soon as she reached the river she pulled her collar, gloves, belt, and boots off before dipping in. The water was stunningly freezing, but it was welcome. Whatever sleepiness was banished from her mind and she dunked herself in. She came back up, running her fingers through her hair and letting out a happy sigh.

"I never thought that I'd welcome freezing waters so lovingly!" Blade declared to herself, sinking into the water and joyfully blowing bubbles. She sunk in all the way again and then stood up, stretching. She flinched right after and lowered her arms, suddenly reminded of her back injuries once again.

'Oh, I do miss my long hair. If it hadn't been so damn difficult to maintain I would've kept it.' Blade scratched both sides of her head and then rubbed her sore arms.

Then, a small movement in front of her made Blade's head snap back up. Her hand was already moving to reach into her shadow when she recognized the pale white figure in front of her. She sighed and set a hand on her cleavage, the other resting on her hip. "" The figure sighed in response, its snowy hood dipped so low that Blade couldn't see their face. Blade blinked and tilted her head, frowning. "" The being opposite of her drearily shook their head and then sank back into the trees, letting out what sounded like a soft, strangled cry that echoed eerily through the air. '' Blade's frown deepened and she got out of the water, steam rolling off of her body as she dried herself with her magic. She looked down at her shadow, peering into it to be sure that her swords had been returned to their proper places. With a reassuring nod Blade lifted her hand out and a tentacle of shadow swirled up, holding one of her cloaks. She took it, threw it over her shoulders and gave the darkness her thanks before sealing her shadow. She put on what she'd taken off and then walked back into the camp. She stepped into it and noted that there were three additional people to the group... and the area reeked of... fish?

"" Blade barked out in her male voice, folding her arms underneath her breasts. "Rise and shine, ladies! It's time to get a move on." She looked over at the three newbies, her lips moving side to side before she spoke. "New recruits for spawn hunting? I must have been sleeping hard to miss all of you. And why does this place stink of fish guts? And you know what, I don't want anyone to answer that question." '' Blade walked over to Grenth and nudged him with her foot. Still acting like a man she winked at him, smirking. "Hey there beautiful. Got any food? I'd sure appreciate it if you shared some of it, gorgeous."

{{Blech. I had to spend the entire day cleaning out my room.... -still isn't done-}}

The night hadn’t been too bad for her. She slept deeply which wasn’t anything new for her. But as the rays of the sun began to rise her consciousness began to return to her and Doina was stuck between the realm of waking and dreams. Sounds and smells of the outside were making their ways into her dreams. Right now she was replying a memory of her brother.

Agceil was currently laying down in the field of roots she was collecting for her master. He had come to help her, or that was what he said he would do. But the only thing he had done so far was hold the second basket Doina had brought. After picking several roots, enough to fill the basket half way, she stopped and took a break coming over to sit next to her brother.

“You know Agceil, helping someone doesn’t include sitting on your a** and crushing the very precious roots they’re supposed to be collecting…” she remarked dryly as she sat on top of a large rock.

Her brother turned to her, his own emerald eyes filled with amusement as he sat up. He took the basket from her hands and shifted through it, taking some of the roots out. He placed it down after emptying half the contents and laid back down after her yell of outrage.

“But it does include helping them shift through the good and bad roots. Really, if you took those to that old lady she’d hit you over the head with that basket and tell you to pick some more. And you’re supposed to be the healer here…”

She had tipped the rest of the basket over his head and her face burned at his loud laughter. They had both settled down soon after and Doina had found herself lying beside her brother. It really was a nice day, aside from the very noisy birds and a strong smell of fish. The only time she had ever smelt fish like this had been when she traveled to that sea port.

But despite the smell and the noise she found herself drifting off to sleep and the warm presence of her brother was slowly fading away. When she woke up next she was in a clearing grass, not roots, were surrounding her. She had fallen from her sitting up position and found herself laying on her side, wrapped up in her cloak. The smell of grass mixed with the smell of fish and her noise crinkled at the odd mix. Her mind was still a bit hazy and her eyes slowly scanned the area.

“Agceil…”she murmured quietly before closing her eyes and laying on her back.

Her hands came to cover her face as she tried to clear her senses. She was currently in the woods with Blade and the rest of her party. She wasn’t back home in the root fields and Agceil was….gone.

‘I don’t even have Gytha and the others here with me. This will take some getting used to.’

She yawned and stretched out on her back. She knew that she needed to get up and stretch properly, but she was still groggy from the dream. Blade’s loud and deep call had her sit up quickly looking over at the other woman. The fact that it was spoken in elfin alerted her.

She looked over at Blade confused as she mentioned new recruits. Looking around the camp she could see some new faces. When did they get here? She must have went to sleep really early. Slowly getting up she stretched again and tried getting the blades of grass out of her hair. She merely shook her head at what Blade said to Grenth. She was too tired to laugh.

Chi looked up into the morning sky. Normally this would be the time for her to sleep but she supposed that sleep would come sparingly these days. Poking her head out from behind the leaves of the tree she let the rays of sun splash down onto her face warming it up from the night’s chill. Moving back into the tree quickly she stood on all fours and arched her back in a stretching motion. Shaking her head after finishing her pale pink hair settled in its natural place and she replaced the red ribbons in her hair. She tried to recall what had happened yesterday. A group of people was attacked by a fire spawn, her and the cats made ‘friends’ and she stayed up the entire night watching over everyone. Thinking back farther into the night she recalled that there hadn’t been many disturbances that had made her stir from her place thought a few times a larger sized animal, such as a deer, would approach and Chi would become wary of its presence only seeing its figured cloaked in darkness. She could never take to many chances especially since there were things out there that weren’t what they seemed to be. But other than that it had been a peaceful and quiet night. Rubbing her ears, glad that they managed to survive yesterday and that she had her hearing back, she looked down from her spot and saw that Blade had come back from her journey to some where not far from there, probably the near by body of water. She also took note that another girl was also awake though her name was unknown.

Climbing down to a lower branch where the leaves weren’t so thick she looked at the base of the tree where all the cats were awake and mewing. The camp smelled strangely of fish, though to Chi and the other cats it smelled good. Licking her lips she wished she had some fish right now and remembered that she had forgotten to eat that meat that had fallen yesterday. Wondering where it could have gotten to she shrugged and jumped softly to the ground. Stretching once more she threw her arms into the air above her head and yawned making a rather loud meowing noise. The other cats, now aware of her presence, started to crowd around her mewing and pawing her legs gently. Sighing and looking down with sad eyes she shook her head “ I don’t have any fish I’m sorry…” She looked pensive for a moment then added quietly “ I could really go for some though…smells good…” Bending down she pet each cat and allowed some of them to climb onto her shoulders and head and such since they seemed to be enjoying it. She wasn’t to sure that she wanted to talk to the people in the ground and now that she though about it there were more people than there were in the original group she met. Blinking she wondered how she could have missed them coming into the camp and silently cursed her mistake. Folding her arms she inspected the sleeping new comers. One appeared to be some kind of goat thing that she had never even seen or heard of before, and the other was a Divii Sokivs, which she wasn’t to fond of but at the same time probably wouldn’t mind her.

Making herself comfortable she sat against the tree looking a bit tired and worn out from being up all night. Her green eyes would slowly shut every now and again as though she were falling asleep. But after a couple of seconds they would snap open and a startled look would appear on her face as if she was expecting something bad to have happened while her eyes were closed. To help in the effort to keep her awake the small cats licked her paws and arms and Chi crinkled her pink nose and gave a small toothy smile when one licked her foot and tickled her. After a few minuets of that Chi sort of moved the cats away indicating that she no longer wanted to be licked and stared off into space in the general direction of Donia. Of course she didn’t mean to be staring like that at her it is just that she happened to stare in that direction as her thoughts wandered else where.

"Bwa, I'm awake, I'm awake!" he mumbled, stumbling into the campsite, waving his dagger around and looking half-asleep. His hair was insane, small bags were developing under his eyes and his walk was disoriented.

Stumbling his way past the leader, who had come back from a bath, before walking, fully clothed into the water and dunking his head under water.

When his head re-emerged, he was far more awake.

"MORNING!" he cried, scaring away some birds and fish. He shrugged, at least the cat girl wouldn't be able to hear him from all the way here.

"Now then, what for breakfast?" he muttered, rubbing his teeth with his finger in thought. "Acorns and dead fish? Tempting, tempting...wish there was some bread though...and cheese...I would so kill for cheese right now."

He stumbled back into the campsite, dripping wet and wide-eyed, walking past the stretching Healer, throwing the still sleeping pair a thumbs up, waving enthusiastically at the newcomers and offering another silent peace sign at the catgirl, before climbing up a tree and hanging upside down from a branch.

"Must! Reach! Knees!' he cried, attempting to do situps. He strained, reaching maybe halfway up, before dropping back down, hanging loosely.

"Wow, you guys look weird from here."

He strained again.

"Seriously, it looks like you're angry from here...wait I'm upside down, so that means...HEY, quit laughing! Morning exercise is important!"

He strained again, actually reaching his knees this time.

"Yes!"

He pumped his fist into the air, which looked quite comical from a normal angle.

While everyone began waking up and deciding what to eat for breakfast, he continued this, providing quite a show, before dropping down and starting laps around the camp. Interestingly enough, he was quite fast, and kept popping up at random moments to provide insane commentary.

"Yeah, you show that bread whose boss! Chomp that bakery! Show it your might!"

Vaguely, Silver registered the voices of the other. However, she didn't really do mornings. At least, not happily and always with great reluctance. Instead, she curled tighter around whatever she had pressed up against during the night. Unbeknownst to her, this made an already awkward situation even more so when she when she would finally get around to waking up.

Sometime during the night, Silver had cuddled up close to Seraphis. One of her legs was twined with his, while her head rested against his collarbone, just underneath his chin. One arm was behind his back, the hand curled around the fabric just beneath his shoulder, while her other hand was resting lightly on his chest. Seraphis obviously had not protested unconsciously, his arm securely wrapped around her waist. It was a comfortable position, and it kept them both warm, but it also looked very intimate.

Completely unknowning of where she was or of the compromising position she was in, Silver stubbornly clung to the last dregs of sleep, a soft, sleepy murmur escaping her throat in protest at all the loud noise. She adjusted so that her face was hidden in the crook of his neck, her mind refusing to register the only source it knew that had the scent of thunderstorms, sage, and the underlying, slightly musky scent that accompanied all things male.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 30, 2008 9:46 am

To say that Seraphis had slept well that night would be an understatement. It was the first night of peaceful rest that he had experienced in.....well....a while. Even as Blade called for the party to wake up, Seraphis dreamed...

Seraphis and Burenna sat upon their bed entwined with eachother, leaning against the modest headboard. Burenna laid with her head resting on Seraphis' collar while Seraphis rested his head on Burenna's head. He inhaled deeply, but gently and let out a soft sigh as her scent invaded his senses. Lavender and waterfalls... Was she wearing a new perfume?

"Must you go, Seraphis?" Burenna asked him with a pout forming on her lips.

"I'm afraid so, love," Seraphis said practically, with a hint of regret, "The people of Tordale need elixirs. Plus, with the volume they're buying, we'll be able to live comfortably for a long while."

"I don't care about the money," she said, "I want you here... Next to me. Let some other alchemist take care of it."

"They can't afford the prices of another alchemist," Seraphis said, pulling Burenna closer and gently caressing her inner thigh, "I'll only be two weeks at the most." Again, he smelled that foreign, but oh so intoxicating scent. He wanted to ask her about it, but found that he couldn't. He took his hand from her thigh and used it to gently tilt Burenna's head upward so he could make eye contact. "Plus, when I get back," he continued.

"We'll be married," Burenna said, completing his sentence.

"And I will be able to pay for the most lavish wedding celebration this village has seen in some time," Seraphis said wistfully, "It will be spectacular! You'll see."

"But two weeks is so long, especially when you're not here," Burenna said somewhat coyly, "I'll be so lonely."

"Well," he said, a roguish smile forming on his face, "perhaps I should give you something to remember me by." With that, Seraphis pulled Burenna in for a long, passionate kiss. His hand wandered down to her thigh again and he began to lightly run his fingers across it once more. Soon, they parted and Seraphis looked deep into the woman's iridescent blue eyes. She was so beautiful.

"I love you, dearest," Seraphis said softly with a trace of lust in his voice.

Quite suddenly, Seraphis noticed many things. Things that were quite unwelcome and jolted him out of his half asleep state. The first thing he noticed was the sound of the morning birds. Not too unusual, but they sounded closer than they ought. He then noticed that he was in a woodland clearing and not with Burenna, but with Silver. He noticed that his lips were barely an inch from hers and that his hand was on her thigh, though it had stopped its caressing movement now. They seemed to be awkwardly entangled. How did that happen?! Taking all of this in, Seraphis blushed heavily. This wasn't the worst morning of his life, but it ranked highly. Right under the morning after he discovered the devastation of his village and the morning after his coming of age ceremony. The worst part of it all was not that he was physically entangled with a woman that he had met just yesterday. No... The worst part was that despite it all, it still felt somehow right. He would have moved to untangle himself, but found that his limbs would not respond to his mental commands. He couldn't even speak. Seraphis just sat and gazed into Silver's eyes, petrified from embarrassment.

Confusing dreams swept through the private theater of Talon's mind. Memories and fictions alike bounced around in her head, making her sleep uncomfortable and feverish. The dreams of her old pack were especially strange, making it out to be like she was still with them, when she knew they were dead...

With a start, she woke up. Unfortunately, during her sleep, she'd slipped from her comfortable spot on the tree to the ground, and when she arose from her groggy state with a jerk she smashed her forehead on the tree. An angered shout indicated that it, well... hurt. Other loud shouts and commands were barked, making her wonder, Am I... back? Opening her eyes, she thought she saw the familiar faces... but they reformed into their unfamiliar originals. Except for Leon, who still seemed to be sleeping.

Another glance around, she confirmed that she wasn't actually back in the mountains and suppressed the sigh that threatened to come out. Two of the elves were awake, same with the boy she'd met before, and two of the humans. The woman was kicked the man she slept snuggled up with, barking another command at him. Everything was so familiar, but not... and she welcomed that. Maybe she could get along with these people. They seemed very friendly already.

Talon groaned and sat up, still with a hand on her forehead. "Good morning..." she managed. Though she smashed her head on a tree, she was still tired. Sleeping only made her weariness from traveling with no rest come back tenfold. Her legs protested as she stood, but she ignored it and started to stretch, feeling her other muscles firmly say 'NO'. Stretching would help that... but not her hunger, which had reappeared. This time, if they were going to wait before they moved out - she doubted that - she see if she could find something for everyone to eat. And idle finger itched at her pointed ear, then she folder her arms on her chest and leaned against the tree waiting for instructions. "Anything I can help with?"
