Fern smiled to Bracken, "It's very nice to meet you, Bracken. Who was the little one that went after that skurri?" She looked in the direction that the little sentinel had scampered off, giggling to herself at how adorable he had been.
Micah bobbed his head to Bracken and waddled ungracefully over to him. He looked up at the owl before him and smiled, cocking his head to the side, "You know stories?"
Fern couldn't help but giggle at Micah's question. "He loves stories of all kinds, so if you have one he'd be more than happy to listen. That is, if you don't mind. It's how he's learned to talk."

Roth soon tired of the seed and scurried off to find his Sentinel. He did this nervously, keeping low, for even though he bore Liam's markings, not all the Sentinels here knew Liam! Amidst the rush surrounding some crazy bard, he couldn't find Liam anywhere!
What he did find was a Parus who looked just as lost and bewildered as he was. He twitched his ears at her and did his best Parus imitation. "Chrirku?"
Thorn, meanwhile, had unsnuggled from Hazel's side and was hopping back past the bardic madness. He wanted to hear another story from Bracken! Still in awe of the mighty fish, he snuck in and grabbed some of the rabbit on his way back. Maybe the bard would tell him a story in exchange for some! That is, if he could get it back there without devouring it...
He found Bracken easily enough. He was with a female Sentinel and her companion. He heard the small creature ask for a story, and sped up, gliding and hopping in a dash to the hunter. "Mr. Bracken! Please tell us a story! I'll give you some of this rabbit, it's very fresh!"

Fern laughed again as the young sentinel came hopping up in a mad dash. "Hello, there. I'm Fern."
Micah jumped back when the other Sentinel hopped over next to him and began to shout. He looked up at the young sentinel and took a step towards him, "Who are you?"

Chase ate contently, grateful for the space the bard had provided. Most Sentinels were watching the awful sermon and he sent the Bard quick glances, with unashamed curiosity. “Poor thing… is she going to stop?” he wondered, when the older female paused to hear the younger Mist. Apparently not. As the Bard continued to be the target of the harsh words and Chase started to wonder if the angry female wasn’t related to the Brigadier, the Deep Woods female he had seen before, hopped to the center of the action and started hurrying the Bard, whose name was Birch, as it seemed. So they did know each other! Chase laughed to himself as playful grin adorned his face, with a black mus tail hanging from his beak. “What an amusing pair.” he tough as he swallowed the meat. “I wonder how she’s going to get him out of that mess.”

Thorn looked at the female, a bit disturbed. "Oh! I'm sorry! I forgot my manners! I am Thorn! It's nice to meet you." He peered down at the Companion. "It's nice to meet you, too."

Hazel watched Thorn go back to his entertainment a moment, but it was obvious she had only eyes for Liam. Swelling with pride she continued to press into his feathers, her mind flitting back to the oh-so-recent events before launching forward into what would one day be. Didn't every Sentinel dream of finding their other half one day? Hazel had been no exception, though she would admit to herself on some days, the far lonely days when she hadn't seen talon nor beak of another soul for what felt like years, that she had thought she would never find that special someone. And yet...here she was, about to fly into her new life, with the most wonderful Sentinel in the clan at her side. It was bliss, pure and simple.
Breaking the silence that swathed the loving pair, a little chuckle made its way out of Hazel. "Mmm...Liam, love? Do you want to socialize a little more? Maybe spread the news? Or find Roth?" She nipped his shoulder gently. "Or we can stay here. I'm happy, just so I'm with you."

Liam nuzzled his beak into Hazel's feathers. He'd been so used to seeing other couples' happiness, seeing what came of others' love... his parents had always told him that he'd find a mate one day, but he never believed them, thinking he would just be Uncle Liam forever, a surrogate parent but never a real one. But now... now that might change. "Hmm... I think we should go spread the news. Perhaps we could find a Bard someplace, or go back to Bracken and see if there's others around him. He seemed popular enough," he said, nodding. "That sound good to you, dearest?"

Leaping from one treelimb to another, above the heads of the gathered Sentinels, Hazel scanned the crowd for an oppurtunity for mischief. Being the little rascal as he was, there was nothing Hazel liked better than causing trouble...except for maybe his Rae-Rae...Catching sight of a lone Skurri, the sly Martes immediately flattened his body against the branch he was standing on, hiding his white belly. Raine always liked eating delicacies. Pricking his ears, Hazel heard a chirping noise emerge from the smaller companion, almost like that of a bird. Huh, a Skurri imitating a Parus...there weren't many things stranger than that...Hazel crept closer and closer to the strangely-marked-creature. Hazel, the famous Martes explorer captures the elusive golden Skurri... he thought, before making a bounding leap towards his prey...

Roth's tail prickled, a sure sign of trouble about. The Parus seemed to be ignoring him, and there seemed to be no Sentinel about for it to return to. He sniffed, twitching his whiskers, then jerked his head around to see a giant Martes leaping at him! Squeaking in fear, Roth had the sense to run blindly in the direction he thought Liam might be, praying not to be preyed upon.
A commotion and a familiar squeak caught Liam's attention. Snapping out of his love-struck daze a bit, he saw a Martes leaping after Roth! Taking off in a hurry, Liam flew as fast as he could at his Companion, catching him in a talon as if he were food. He gripped him as loosely as he could, whisking him away from the carnivorous Companion's snapping jaws, but he still felt the small body go limp. He landed carefully and glared at the Martes, clacking his beak angrily.

Hazel blinked in surprise. What the- ??? His jaws had just about been snapped closed on the Skurri, so how did it somehow end up...in the claws of a giant Sentinel? There was only one feasible reason..."No fair! You steal Hazel prey! Hazel was already pounce! Hazel eat Skurri! Not you! Mine!" the Martes babbled angrily at what he percieved as the "thieving" Sentinel. "Hazel not let you eat Skurri! Hazel save for Rae-Rae!" he pouted, defensively curling up into a furry ball.

Not expecting her cuddly pillow to move so suddenly, Hazel toppled to her face on the branch with an OOF! Shaking herself she looked up, spotted Liam swooping Roth to safety, and bolted after him. She landed nearly on top of the Martes, hissing protectively and flaring her wings to shield Liam and Roth until things could be settled.
"The skurri is not food, martessss." She hissed, uncharacteristically threatening. The once calm and serene Sentinel looked for all intents and purposes like some wild thing that had no trouble making quick work of this like-named animal She snapped at the smaller Hazel once, aiming to startle more than hurt, still barring the way from herself to her mate and his companion.

Liam regarded the weasel-like creature coldly. "Roth is not prey," he hissed, shoving his limp friend under a wing. He was visibly shocked at the change in Hazel. He'd never seen her like this before, but was incredibly grateful. He shook Roth a bit while eyeing the Martes, making sure it didn't try to get at the Skurri while he was down. "C'mon, Roth. Wake up. You're fine..."

Poor Orynn found herself to be quite startled by the unexpected commotion that quickly unfolded just inside her periphery. As the disinterred feathers of the various Sentinels drifted away on the icy breezes, clearing her view of the chaotic scene, she wasn't sure which of the two Hazels most deserved a stern thwap on the nose - the Martes for threatening Roth, or the Sentinel for threatening her namesake - but in the end, she decided that simply slinking away would be a more familiar reaction. All that interfering would achieve would be further attention, after all...

Hazel was a fearless(and rather foolish) Martes, but he was not stupid...relatively speaking. "What say you Skurri not prey? What Skurri then?" he challenged.
I wonder where Hazel has gone off to...
Meanwhile, Hazel's indecisive owner had picked up on a strange commotion towards the far end of the gathering. Uh oh. Coming from experiance, Raine instinctively knew where her companion was likely to be: right in the midst of the scene. Swooping into the fray, Raine caught sight of her guilty Martes, as well as two Sentinels and an unconcious companion. She cringed. Please let the Skurri be alright.
Landing heavily in her haste, Raine awkwardly side-stepped to avoid colliding with the tree. "Oh dear! Please do forgive my Martes for whatever damages he may have caused! I assure you, he didn't mean to! ...Well, he kind of did...but not with bad intentions..." she trailed off, uneasily.
"You see, Hazel has never really socialized with other companions on a friendly level. He doesn't know how to act..." ...Like me... ...

Hazel continued to hiss at the Martes, eyes wide with anger.
"What about you martesss? What are you, if not preeey...Roth is a companion, not dinner for you or anyone else!" She glanced back quickly at Liam, trying to discern the status of the Skurri. He seemed alarmingly limp...but Liam appeared more concerned than anything else, less upset than he would be if there was any real harm done.
Hearing another voice--this one in defense of the martes--Hazel whirled about, clacking angrily until she saw that it was only another Sentinel...the martes' owner? It seemed so. As the other bird approached Hazel settled, folding her wings and stepping back a bit. Her stern look flickered a moment, then slipped back to her previous and much better known face of jovial friendliness.
"No harm, no foul, right? Roth is alright, I believe." She poked her head under Liam's wing to investigate further. "Yes, I think he was just frightened." She nodded at her fellow Ranger, pausing a moment at the companion's name. She looked from th female to the Martes and back again. Then, in what could only be described as a comical imitation of her previous 'attack' on the poor thing, she bolted back to its side, fluffing up and patting the smaller creature with a wing.
"There there Little Hazel! We understand!"
