"Michigan." she answered. "Used to be, anyway. Dad decided it would be better to move to Colorado a couple years ago." she spoke the statement with a degree of venom as though the mention of her father left a bad taste in her mouth.

She watched as an exotic butterfly of some sort bumbled past to disappear into the nearby foliage and found herself envying the little creature's freedom and obliviousness. "And you?"

Great that question went right back at her, but she had asked for it. Only common courtesy to ask that question back at the person who had asked it first. Hmm... and she seemed to hate her father too Lauren judged from the level of disgust in her voice. Lauren decided to steer clear from the sperm donor topic... too painful.
"California." Lauren simply replied. "but I have traveled here and there all of my life. I'm the gypsy sort." She didn't want to go into her life before Cali ever really.

In front of her was a large building different from the numerous duplexes they have passed. It looked fairly open and smelled of breakfast foods. "I betcha this is it." She smiled mischievously.

Karma hadn''t really been sure how to reply to the comment about Thorn being a wanderer. The other girl had given no indication whether this was an existance by choice or not and she didn''t want to have the wrong reaction to it.

Luckily, the appearance of the building spared her, as did the aroma of maple syrup and eggs. "Hope so." she said. "Otherwise they use the most interesting cleaning fluid I''ve ever smelled..." Somehow this wasn''t what she''d expected of this place for being a rehabilitation facility. No strict curfews, no strict punishments, up-to-date facilities, and decent cooking.

Lauren rushed towards the food smell as it hurt too much for her stomach to wait. She probably left Karma behind a bit but didn't mean rudeness, just forgot that she was walking with someone other than herself besides she wasn't really great with being polite or nice so she never really tried.
And yes, it was a cafeteria and they were serving breakfast. She grabbed a tray quickly and piled a huge stack of pancakes, eggs, and sausage onto her plate. She probably had a total of 3-4 servings on her tray alone and the cafeteria workers just eyed her tiny frame and her tray wondering how such a scrawny kid could eat such a large meal for breakfast. She also grabbed a large glass of orange juice as she never was a coffee person.

Remember Karma she looked back to see if she was still following her.
"I'm going to sit down and start eating. I'm really really starving and it hurts to wait. You can join me if you want."
Geese, she was being really really nice today. Ah well, maybe it was all right every once and a while and she did need some friends here because she hated being all alone. It was when she was all alone that memories usually popped back into her head.

She wondered how Fire was doing. Probably stoned off her gourd She answered herself in thought.
And then she started eating like a wild animal.

Greer Cassenwari

Humming cheerfully to herself, Greer taped a note with small, neat handwriting to the door of the ''town hall''. A general missive to all residents, it read:

Greer's Note
To Whom it May Concern,

Hello! This is Greer Cassenwari, sending out a general request that people not tamper with my current study. I''m an entomologist as some of you know, and am currently investigating the insect life on the island. To do this, I have set up several research stations, consisting of water collection points, snare areas, and other data collection spots. I have done my best to make sure that they won''t get in anyone''s way, but if they do, please call it to my attention and I will relocate them. You can find me in duplex #4. And to the cleaning staff in particular - please do not remove my dishes of standing water! Thank you all.

Sincerely, Greer

Walking wearily into the cafeteria, Matthew quietly gathered up a tray and moved through the non-existant line. None of the food was really looking that appetizing at the moment, in all honesty; he settled for a glass of orange juice and some dry cereal to munch on, halfheartedly thanked the lady behind the counter, and walked over to a table close to the door.

It was unusually empty, or maybe it was just that the other day had been unusually active... either way, he didn't necessarily mind. He slumped down into the seat, sipping casually at the juice and occasionally popping a few pieces of cereal in his mouth. If no one was around, he didn't have need to mask his general 'didn't-sleep-well-don't-feel-good' sort of look, and it meant less energy expendature on his part.

Still, though. He couldn't help but wonder what the others had been up to, or if there had been more conspiracies cooked up as he'd slept. Giving a mental little groan at the thought, he went back to his cereal.

The Dude XD

Following Greer, the Dude walked into the cafeteria and ploped on a chair, waiting for Greer to get her food. He was visibly agitated and impatient, kept running his hand thru his matted dreadlocks.

Finally, after about ten minutes, he jumped up again, and turned to Greer:"Let's go try this again. Maybe he'll open up now. Wanna come?"

Grabbing a ceasar salad and a bowl of vegetable soup, Greer joined the Dude at the table and began bolting down her food, not realizing how hungry she was until she began to eat. She really needed to drop this habit of letting work distract her from eating!

Cleaning her plate and bowl, she nodded in response to her companion's suggetion that they check on Ambrose. Surely he knew more about these people things than she did. "Sounds like a plan."

Matthew looked up, spotting the Dude and Greer walk into the cafeteria, too preoccupied to even notice him. The Dude certainly didn't look very happy about something...

Sipping quietly at his orange juice, Matthew wondered just what was going on. Should he go over there and ask? Or was this the kind of thing where maybe they wanted to be left alone?

He finished up his orange juice and cereal, glancing up occasionally in observation. They didn't stay long, and after they'd left, his curiousity got the better of him. He got up and followed them from a short distance, thankful the little 'town' was as small as it was.

Greer circled the 'village', carefully collecting all of her mosquito nymph traps and storing them in on of the boxes that her supply packages had arrived in. Technically she should have continued the survey for another four weeks, but there didn't seem much point to it any more. They knew that they'd been lied to by the good doctor and his assisstant, which had been the question the mosquito question had been meant to answer. Besides, cleaning up after herself was only polite, as well as being an excellent way to procrastinate about talking to Aubrey. She really wasn't the person for that job.

Lost in thought and collection, she wouldn't have noticed a herd of rhinos thundering past.

Dr. Madison Moreau

Madison left her bungalow and felt like taking a nice walk. The sun shined warmly on her fair complexion as she made her way over to the village.

She took long strides and made it there in no time. The village appeared to be quiet with no one around at first. Then Madison banged her head on something in the trees.

"Ahhh what the .." she cried out, clutching her forehead. She grasped the hanging object in her hand for a closer inspection.

It appeared to be a trap of some sort. Madison tossed it away and it bobbed on the tree branch. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a girl putting the traps in a big box.

"Hey! You there! Be careful with those..they are an accident waiting to happen!" she yelled out, arms flailing.

Glancing at the ground, Greer frowned at the trap that lay at her feet. How on earth did that get there? Ah well. Sighing, she picked it up, storing it in the box with the rest of its kind. Standing, she heard a yell and jerked her head in the direction of the voice. A slightly odd looking, labcoated woman was standing under the tree the lost trap had been tied to. Ah.

"I'm sorry, I did put a note on the town hall door a few days ago to warn people about the prevalence of traps." she smiled apologetically. "Are you okay?"

Madison remembered her manners and smiled shyly at the woman.

"Hello there! I'm fine..just a little shocked. What are you hoping to catch with these traps here?" she asked, arching a brow.

"I was looking at the mosquito populations on the island. I'm an entomologist." Ah, a life made entirely out of looking at bugs! Twas a wonderful thing.

But of course, she was failing at the social thing again. Still smiling and looking flustered, she shifted her grip on the box and held out a hand. "Goodness me, look at my lack of manners! I'm Greer Cassenwari, and it's nice to meet you."

Dr. Madison Moreau

"Ento..mologist confused " Madison mumbled, repeating the strange word. She shrugged, it was probably something to do with bugs. It had been a few years since she opened a textbook.

Madison held out ..er a paw to Greer. "Likewise. My name is Madison Moreau. Feel free to call me Maddy though" she smiled and hoped that Greer would not be turned off by her rather unusual appearance.

She had been getting used to looking this way herself. It was probably a side effect of the shot that Dr. Moreau gave so that she could hear.

"Do you need any help taking these down?" she offered.
