A feeble chuckle escaped him, and he smiled at the Dude.
"...I...think I might actually stay here a while longer. I've never seen a beach like this...and I need time to think."
He glanced down at his own hand...human, thin, pale. But what would it look like...say...tomorrow? Or the next day? He wasn't sure he WANTED to know. With a cringe and a sigh, he looked back at the rather friendly man.
"...But...nice meeting you. And I hope to see you around."

Folding his arms behind his head the Dude followed Julian''s look, surveying the beach as well.
"Yeah. The beach is magnificent. So wild and so free. Unspoiled. Just you and the water. I am glad that Moreau guy didn''t build anything here yet, just left it as it is."
"Nice to meet you, too. Well, have fun. Maybe we can go diving sometime. I can show you the coral reefs." - he smiled and waved then headed towards the village.

"Sounds like fun." He waved back, rather timidily.
"...Goodbye...."
As the Dude left his line of sight, Julian walked closer to the water again, taking a seat in the sand and staring out into the water.
"...So...this is all for real...I wonder how long I've got."

The sun was starting its decend towards the ocean as Ambrose emerged again from the cafeteria, having filled his demanding stomach once again. Idly he mused in the back of his mind that that hunger was helping feed the energy needed to change his body, and that he was only furthering it.
Not that he had very much choice.
Pausing in indecision, he sighed, wanting to clear his mind. He returned to his dorm momentarily, only to gather a set of fencing equipment and start heading towards the beach.
He liked the beach, and it was one of the places on the Island that he didn't particurly have any negative connotations with, and the thought of practicing with his epee on a virgin beach did appeal to him. Even if it was just doing footwork, practice striking and parry angles, and point control.
About halfway there, the dark thought settled on him. Why bother it lamented. He could never go to the Olympics now. THe thing he had trained his entire life for had been snatched away from him along with his love and the rest of his goals. But he shook his head. His parents had always told him that his sport was obsolete and pointless. At least with Dreu's sport, one could become a professional tennis player, have matches shown on television and make money. Fencing was nothing more than a hobby that one could get a medal for. People didn't use swords anymore. And he had always ignored them. It was his passion. He would not let anything take that away from him. They might take his parents away from him, and take the opportunity away from him of ever impressing them through his means, but - when he thought about it it wasn't the Olympics that made him like fencing. The olympics was merely the justification to his parents that what he was doing wasn't worthless. A way to make them proud. With that gone, he still had his passion, at least. No matter what he became.
Getting out to the sand, he scanned around for a good place to start.

Julian was still sitting near the water - only now he was perched on a piece of driftwood, one leg propped up so his knee was level with his hunched-over collarbone.
He didn't notice that he had company - why would he? Silently, he was contemplating his fate.
...A canine of some sort...a sea lion...I wonder what they're planning to do to me. I wonder if there's a pattern...an irony to what they pick.
What animal would I be, if they could pick something ironic...?
Emerald eyes gazed blankly at the water as he thought, book hanging limply from his right hand's fingers.

As he was scouring the beach a small figure sitting on the beach caught his eyes. Funny, he didn't think anyone else would be out here given the circumstances. Curiousity getting the better of him, he wandered towards the figure, epee held in a non-threatening position.
As he got closer he recognized the ill-fitting dark clothing and mop of black hair from the back.
"Julian...?" He queried, wondering what might be going through the turbulent thoughts of the rather frightening young man.

Starting, he leapt up, almost throwing the book. After a moment, he calmed down...that timid little smile crossing his lips.
"...Oh...Mister Ambrose. Hello."
He tucked the book away, sheepishly laughing.
"...How...how are you today?"

"Sorry to startle you" He commented, leaning against one of the palms.
"To be honest, I could be doing a great deal better, but I'm trying to manage" he said, surprisingly honest.
"How about yourself...? I can tell that you've got a lot weighing on your mind.... I thought you might want to talk about it?"

He gave a little chuckle, shaking his head.
"...I'm doing okay, I guess. Or not. Either way." There was that grin again...but the rings around his eyes hinted at a bit more anxiety than he let on.
"...I talked to Mister Dude. Saw him. I...I guess I have to believe you, now."

Ambrose winced. "I'm really sorry I had to be the bearer of bad news, Julian..." He scratched at the back of his head. "You.... you really look like you've got a lot on your mind."
He pondered this for a moment. "Saw the Dude? Did he confirm what I said?" Ambrose wondered why the Dude's word was more reliable than Ambrose's, with his appearance to boot.

Julian sat down on the piece of driftwood again, looking rather drawn despite the smile.
"...Well, talking to one person who this is happening to is one thing...but...." He sighed. "...Talking to another man with flippers and whiskers kinda reinforces theories."
One hand brushed up to his forehead - he had a bit of a headache. This was all just so much to handle...too much.

Ambrose stared. "... Flippers and whiskers...?" It didn't quite click at first. "You mean he's started to change as well?" But into what?! Ambrose wondered. And when did he get his second injection?
"When did you see him...?" Ambrose asked. He wondered how the Dude was taking it. "Did he seem... alright?"
Realizing that he was probably brushing over the young man's own concerns he apologized "I'm sorry Julian. Last time I saw him he was still human."

He let out a tiny little giggle of nerves - but took a deep breath and managed to taper down the smile to a small smirk.
"...It's fine. He...he seemed all right. He was a lot less frightened than me, anyway." Another nervous giggle.
"...And he said something about a sea lion. I guess he asked what he was becoming, and someone told him. He really didn't seem too upset about it, either...."
His gaze fell to the ground.
"...Makes me wonder what I'm going to be."

Ambrose thought about this. Apparently the Dude had had the nerve to not only ask what he was going to become, but apparently had accepted his fate. A small smirk came to Ambrose's face as well at hearing the appropriateness of the animal he apparently was becoming. "A sealion, eh?" Ambrose pondered it, thinking of the Dude's blonde dreadlocks on a rotund, smiling sealion and the smile widened a bit. "I'm glad that he's handling it well... I really am. I should try to talk to him soon if I can."
His look lingered on Julian. "You could ask them..." he started. "You might not want to know what they will tell you, but on the other hand knowing might be a relief." Ambrose kicked at a small mound of sand. "Hell, I haven't even had the nerve to ask. And I even have some vague clues already."

Julian thought over this for a long moment...then heaved a sigh.
"...I don't want to know. I mean, it's weird enough to think that I might not be able to...." A pang of dread hit him. "...Hold a...pen...."
This notion was enough to wipe the smile off his face completely - and the sudden disappearance was shocking. It displayed just how frightened he really was...just how paniced.
"...Oh, god...I hope not...I really hope that won't happen...."
