Wow I didn't thik they'd ever name a gundam "psyco..." But yeah The arms are hugeamongous on that thing.

No the Titans (Zeta Gundam) had a special training facility or school that would genetically enhance orphans to have like mental abilities (something like telepaths). They would be called Newtypes or Enhanced Humans.
Usually the training would cause great stress on the mind of the subject and would either totally destroy the subject by form of a mental breakdown or they would wind up insane in some way.

alot of them were, but then you get the occasional one that comes out not harmed or just really good at hiding the side effects.

I thought you were born with Newtype skills and only Cybernetically enhanced humans (Like Four) were affected...

Nah, some natural occuring Newtypes went crazy too.
I.E. Chara Soon - ZZ Gundam
Iron Mask - Gundam F91
Also not all Cybernetically Enhanced Newtypes would go crazy
I.E. Gyneuss - Char's Counterattack
