Left strike. Miss. Right strike. Miss. Kick, kick. Miss. Now, the pattern was becoming a steady rhythm. Once in a while, the doll would rebound back but she was able to dodge better and somersault out of the way, landing on her feet. She stretched her palm out again and attempted to strike the dummy once more.

And Elruda managed to hit the dummy once again. Crack. The previous damage to the dummy deepened. Elruda frowned. Did she use a little too much chakra? Juuken was not supposed to do visible damage... Shaking the thought off, Elruda directed her other arm to head in for a quick jab or two.

She missed but that was alright. Elruda reangled her right foot to head in for a quick, chakra-laced kick. Without the Byakugan, the Juuken felt quite foreign to use but she had quickly adapted to the current style. In battle, she may not always have the energy to keep up her Byakugan.

She had almost managed to hit the dummy but the kick only barely grazed the dummy's side. Elruda made a circle with her foot to drop back into her original stance and headed into for a quick strike. This was proving to be a good test for her originality.

The doll rebounded but this time Elruda did not have the time to dodge. So instead, she released a bit more chakra from her body to slightly alter the dummy's path. She couldn't release chakra from her whole body yet but with more practice like this, one day she would be able to handle the basic requirement for Kaiten.

The released chakra was only able to temporarily slow the doll's falling path. Before the dummy would hit her, Elruda twisted her feet and managed to dodge, reappearing behind the dummy. She made a half circle with her left foot and delivered her right in for a kick.

s**t. Elruda cursed to herself. The kick was aimed correctly but her stance had broken because of a slight miscalculation. She was able to stop herself from falling by quickly bending her left knee and landed her right foot on the ground gently, to make a half circle clockwise and reassume the Juuken stance.

With that, she was ready to try attacking the dummy again. Palm, kick. Palm, kick. The doll bent over. A somersault. Palm, kick, kick. Bend back. Palm, palm. Elruda felt that her body is gradually becoming used to the required flexibility. She still freeze for a moment or so when dropping from her stance but she gradually self-corrected herself, using a combination of new moves to reassume the original stance. This was almost exciting... She thought contentedly to herself.

Well, of course a Hyuuga would be pleased with taijutsu. For the first time all of yesterday and today, she did not complain about the assignment and instead, dutifully took it up. What she felt was the greatest achievement so far was figuring how to reassume the basic stance from different angles. Her following strikes were always a bit slower, however. It worried her a bit but she was sure soon enough, Wrath will make her work on speed.

And her efforts were once awarded again when a kick made contact with the dummy's side. Crack. Now Elruda was worried. She turned her chakra release a bit lower. Hopefully, the dummy would make it through practice and even more hopefully that Wrath does not see the condition it's in. It looks funny... Some of these cracks formed a beard! Mentally, she chuckled to herself. Brushing her dark bangs away from her eyes, Elruda continued with the workout.

What a shame... Elruda thought to herself. She was very close to hitting the dummy, she was sure of it but then a strong gust of wind have to blow and bend the dummy off course. A bit disappoitned but still undaunted in spirit, Elruda returned to training once more.

And once again her efforts were rewarded with a successful hit. Wrath had ordered her to do so five times and so far she completed four. One more time. Elruda calculated she would miss a couple more but that was fine. Taijutsu was enjoyable to practice, though it was proving a bit difficult to maintain a low chakra release level on her Juuken.

Just as she had expected, Elruda missed. She stopped for a bit and rested to catch her breath, sweat glistening on her brow. It was still early and if she hurry up and complete her teacher's quota, there would be more time available to cram a greater quantity of Jutsus and skills in her head. Wrath had already proven to her the other night that he has no problems working her late into the evening.

A little while after, Elruda still haven't manged to hit the dummy another time. This time she tried altering how she combined different moves. Palm, palm. Kick. Spin. Kick. Resume position. Repeat. Resume position. Palm, palm. Lean backwards. Resume position. She had certainly quickly learned which movements she was more comfortable with and which she had trouble.

But the dummy was still proving to be quite...elusive. While keep jabbing, punching, and kicking at the dummy, Elruda didn't notice that she activated her Byakugan, slowly the veins had bulged around her eyes. The way the dummy moved made it easier for her to imagine this was a real person and that she was fighting an opponent on a battlefield.
