Walter walked up to the Inn, his face still pale. Everything would be fine; he'd just get inside, get some ice for his cheek, and try to get a few hours of sleep. Try being the operative word. He shuddered.
There was a girl standing just outside the Inn, but he barely saw her. Alirialie, however, did. She looked from Dani, who was looking upset and uncomfortable, to her daemon, who was looking downright spooked, hesitated for a moment, then slunk after Walter. She was curious, but she didn't want to get more than a few feet away from him, not after what had just happened.
Walter walked up to the desk, and the innkeeper gasped. "Good grief, Wink! What the hell have you been doing?"
"Fighting," said Walter softly, his eyes locked on something far away.
The man sighed. "I'll bring some ice up to your room for that cheek," he said, coming out from behind the desk. His dog daemon followed, it's tail wagging uncertainly. The innkeeper took a long look at Walter's face, then gently took his arm and led him up the stairs, unlocked his room for him, and opened the door. "I'll bring that ice up," he said quietly. He nodded to Luke, then shut the door again.

Dani and Arba watched Walter and the panther walked by them, letting the pair pass before they turned around and hurried away. They went down the street a bit, and took the first turn they came to. Once she was fairly certain that no one was following them, Dani spoke.
"What's wrong? What did you find out?" She looked anxiously at Arba, wondering what could have gotten him so agitated. Now that they were away from James, he had settled down a bit, but was still restless. He paced back and forth as he answered, not looking directly at Dani. "His daemon. It was male."
A few seconds passed before Dani could fully comprehend what Arba was telling her. She furrowed her brow, confused. "But...that's supposed to be -"
Arba cut her off, "Impossible, I know. Which means one of two things. Either James was lying to us about being a boy, or there's something extremely unnatural about that pair."

Shade cocked an ear as the innkeeper's footsteps could be heard coming up the staires. He lifted his head and looked over at the door, as if expectining it to open, but it didn't. He nuddged Jane. She groaned and opened her eyes. "What?" she growled. "Wink and Alirialie are back." "Good. Now let me go back to sleep." Jane rolled over and closed her eyes. But Shade had other plans. He got up and walked out of the door, pulling the strain as much as he could handle. Jane groaned again and rolled off the bed. She walked over to the door to the room that Luke and Wink where in and knocked on it.

Luke was sound asleep in the chair when Walter came in and didn't even stirr as the inn keeper left. Even when James knocked on the door he only stirred slightly before settling once more into sleep. He was too exhausted to wake.
Rhynll though was awake and watched everything silently. He blinked sleepily at the knock, he was tired too, but wanted to be able to tell Luke of anything he may of missed. The last thing he wanted to do right now was wake Luke, who rarely slept as solidly as he did now.

Walter hesitated for a moment, then opened the door. He still felt shell shocked, like nothing around him was quite real. "What is it, James?" he asked. His voice was barely more than a whisper.

Jane shrugged as she leaned against the doorframe, still asleep. "Shade wanted in..." she mumbled. Shade left her side and went to Alirialie and asked, "Did you see him? The church official without the daemon?"

Alirialie and Walter simultaneously became very still, though Walter wasn't sure exactly why. Alirialie's golden eyes narrowed. "What was that?"
Walter leaned his head against the door frame. "I want to go to bed, Aliri," he murmured softly.
Alirialie shook her head impatiently. "They know about the man we saw!" she rumbled.
Walter instantly turned a few shades paler, and stopped leaning against the door, but otherwise seemed not to react. "Oh? Well, believe it or not, I'd still like to go to sleep." He nodded wearily to James. "G'night." With that, he shut the door in the younger man's face.
"What was that?" growled an outraged Alirialie.
"I'm going," said Walter pointedly, "To bed."

Dani nodded, sitting down with her back against the wall of a business building, looking pale. She shot a sideways glance towards Arba. "Do you want to go home?"
"Not really. How about we stay here until the sun comes up, then we decide what to do next?" he replied, curling up in a ball beside Dani, with his head in her lap. Dani chuckled and stroked the fur between Arba's ears, closing her eyes.
"Sounds like a plan to me."

Jane stiffened as the door slammed in her face. "Jee, thanks Shade. I could have gotten my nose broken because of you." She walked back to her room and flopped on the bed. She feel asleep quickly.
The next morning she stumbled down the stairs into the common room. "Never one to wake up in the morn', James. What brings you out so early?" aske the innkeeper. "Shade kicked me in the face," Jane said, rubbing the spot the fox hit her. The innkeeper laughed. "The cooks have just started to cook breackfast. If you want, you can go back and help them. I'm sure they'll let you." Jane thanked the man and walked into the kitchen.
((The night was getting a little to long, thought we could speed it up. If you don't mind))

((i dont, personally. if any of the others complain ill edit mine.)) Rayne watched the sun rise over the waters of the river, sending the blue into dazzling lights, reds, pink, yellows and oranges, all shimmering on the water. In the tree's nearby a single bird began to trill her welcome to the morning, and then more voices trickled in until the dawn chorus was well underway, the bird filling the air with their sweet song.
Waiting until the sun was slightly higher in the sky, so that she wouldn't attract to much attention for being up so early, she stood up, staff of cedar in hand and with ember flying over head, and walked back towards the Inn.
She reached it shortly and waited outside the door for a moment, before walking into the room underneath, a small bar with only a few people inside. she blinked as her eyes adjusted, then looked around, wondering where the others were. With a shrug, she decided to wait down here and, ordering their special of the day, paid with a few small pieces of silver and settled down in a dark corner, sipping the dark, sweet smelling yet strong liquid.

((That's completely fine ^_^))
Luke woke about an hour or so after everyone had retreated to bed to find Walter (he smiled a little when he saw that Walter was back and, in this light, aparently unharmed) in his own bed and the room dark. Or not exactly. Rather starting to get light with the dawn. He yawned widely and winced, a hand going to his chest feeling the sharp pain there. He sighed slightly. He had wanted to keep it a secret as long as possible, so as not to inconvenient anyone.
Getting up off the chair and he made his way to the bed and climbed into it. Rhynll, who had been asleep as well woke up when he was moved, said quietly, "Something strange happened while you were asleep. Something about a Church official that Walter saw who didn't have a demon."
Luke couldn't help but shiver at that news, even just the sound of it, let alone picturing it.
"James knew about it as well, but Walter didn't seem to want to talk about it," he continued.
Luke smiled slightly. "That's so like him," he said.
He could feel himself becoming sleepy once more and drifting off but just in that void between being awake and asleep he remembered something else Walter had said. He had said he would be taking him to a doctor. That was the last thing he wanted, all he wanted right then was to get out of London and go to Oxford like they had planned. Not like a doctor would be able to do anything. It was a painful inconvenience, that was all, nothing more. Needless to say he didn't like doctors and wouldn't go to one if he could help it.

Dani let out a small gasp of pain as she opened her eyes. Rubbing her lids, she felt with her other hand for Arba, and gave him a good pinch, "You weren't supposed to let me sleep!" She opened her eyes slightly for see the daemon snuggling deeper into her stomach, still asleep.
Jutting out her lower lip, Dani stood up abruptly, letting Arba fall to the ground with a yelp. He looked up at her disdainfully, scratching his nose. "What was that for?"
"You fell asleep!"
Arba looked up at Dani impatiently. Yes, he had fallen asleep. That much was obvious, seeing as how he had just been rudely woken up. He waited a few seconds for Dani to speak, sighing when all she did was glare at him. "And that was enough to warrant you dumping me on the sidewalk because..."
Dani glared at him. Arba could bo so thick sometimes, it really could get annoying. Grinding her teeth, she said, "Because, you were supposed to keep me awake until dawn! What if we got murdered or kidnapped or something?!?"
Arba was silent for a few seconds, thinking. When he did speak, all he could utter was a soft "Oh."
Dani snorted at him. " 'Oh', he says. I'm never trusting you to keep me awake again." Here, she paused, unsure of what to say. She settled for the simplest thing, tapping her foot impatiently on the ground. "So now what?"
The daemon looked up at her with the same wary expression he'd worn a few moments before. Dani sighed. This was gonig to be a long day, apparently. "So what are we going to do now! Are we going to go back to the house or to the inn or to Oxford or what?!"

Walter stirred, then opened his eyes, automatically glancing at the armchair where Luke had been. He wasn't there. After a momentary flash of panic, Walter noticed the lump in the other bed and relaxed. He should get up; they had to get moving, which meant that Walter had to go out and buy clothes, and then boat tickets... He was asleep again within seconds.

Jane worked in the kitchen with the cooks. The smells and the fact that her body was moving was enough to get her mind functioning. She started to hum to herself as she worked, a smile playing on her lips. "If it wasn't for the fact that I love doing what I do, I don't think I would mind working here," she told Shade. "You maybe. I'll be bord to tears." She nudged him in the ribs and looked up as the head cook came her way. "Here you go. This is for helping us," the man said as he layed a tray infront of her. "Bring it up to your friends aswell." Jane thanked him. She picked up the tray and walked up the stairs to the room Luke and Wink slept.
