"You're the one who wanted to be the oposition in this pet escapde. I think you should tell him...let him know that you're in on it too and not that I just talked you into it and such." Thus gesturing to the boy who was still playing in the floor with his friend and the critters.

"You'd have to come back, your daddy works for mine." Simple as that to him. The Intharas had to be around sometime or another. But a wrinkle of his nose at the notion of being a girl. "I guess...so how do we be girls then so we can know what they're fighting about?"
PostPosted: Wed May 16, 2007 3:36 pm

"I wasn't opposition, just didn't think it was a good thing to discuss right now. But I'll tell him nonetheless." Glancing at the boys for a moment before she shook her head. "Zykariel? Come here for a second."

"The only way we're gonna figure out what they're fighting about is to ask our daddies when they aren't paying enough attention to keep from telling us the truth. I'll ask mine and you ask yours. Then we can write a note. You be your mommy and I"ll be mine and we'll deliver it to them and set up a meeting. Once they get to the room, we'll shut the door and sit in front of it so they can't get out." It sounded like a good plan anyway. He glanced at his mother for a second and then hopped up, carrying Nym with him. "Yes?"

"We have some good news for you. Your father and I have decided you can have one pet as long as you choose something that is not on the list your father spouted off earlier and you understand that the pet is your responsibility. If you choose not to take care of it, it disappears. That means feeding, brushing if it needs it, playing, and keeping it from making messes or cleaning up after it when it does. Understand?"

He listened, a huge grin popping up on his face and he hugged her. "I'll take better care of him than you do your horses or Daddy does Nym." That was a pretty big promise too. Thus he pulled away from her and hugged his father too. "I want a draithix and Malikhai said if you two said I could then I could have one. It'll be an egg though." Turning back to Malikhai, he gave him a thumbs up. 'They said yes!"

A smile as the boy grinned and duely delivered the good news that came from his mother. "That's a big statement for a little elf. Hopefully you'll keep it and be able to keep your pet. We're serious, you have to be responsible about it."

"I think that works well enough." Writing letters wasn't really like being a girl so it was okay. They would jsut have to be careful about how they worded things, now wouldn't they? Very. Though Zykariel's own excitment caught to him and he jumped up with a laugh. "Well then, let's go pick an egg!" Grabbing his friend by the hand and duely tugging him toward the front doors.

"She won't resent it. in fact, she's having baby thoughts of her own. she'll get all mushy, you flash those adorable 'pretty please' eyes at her, and she'll melt and do what she needs to do to help you at least on this last one. after that, we'll find our own way if you really want three."

giving her a small hug.

"Hey no fair, she's not allowed to have baby thoughts if I'm not allowed." Not fun if Zahara got to flaunt her more than capable fertility. "Those adorable pretty please eyes...you mean these?" Flashing him that look and a bat of eyelashes at him, the one she usualy used to convince him to do things her way, especially if he was being a grumpy tier'dal and brooding. They were useful for quite a few things. "I don't think they would have the exact effect on her that they have on you, A'mael."
PostPosted: Thu May 17, 2007 5:10 pm

A slight chuckle.

"well, leave out the batting the eyelashes part, and you might find them a bit more effective than you think. But I think me and you should get upstairs. I got something made from Yinn, might make it a bit easier on him to move around with."

"He's doing things with and or about the child's pet. Isn't that cute and father like of you." Shaking her head and giving a sigh. "I suppose." Even if Zahara was upstairs...not that the men weren't used to these spats by now...in fact they often shared a drink and engaged in some male bonding when the women were at each other. She was sure that if she wasn't the one fighting, it would be funny. But getting herself up,she crossed her arms. "Come on then."
PostPosted: Thu May 17, 2007 6:09 pm

"not to mention make sure a large boot on a small paw doesn't damage anything."

A small grin and up with him, unfolding her arms and sweeping her up into a kiss just to get her to relax some...before holding out an arm to her.

"shall we?"

He certinally wasn't allowing her to brood now was he? Nope. But she supposed that turn about was air play...she had done it enough times to him. Then again with him it was easier, if you knew the right buttons to push to pull him into a better mood and such. Piper was quite well acquainted with all of his buttons by now though. A smile at him and his tactics before taking his offered arm. "You're a trip and a half, do you know that Malik D'vinn. Some days I just don't know how I put up with you or how I let you get under my skin."

"It's my dashing good looks and charm. and my ability to make you scream to all the gods in the elvish pantheon."

A chuckle at that and taking her upstairs, and leading her to the living area, taking a look around.

"Okay. I left the kids here...where did they go?"

Piper rolled her eyes. "You are very full of yourself you know that, how in the world that attracts me, I have pet to find out. Or maybe it's the side of you that's all mind that I can thus overlook the other sides. I think I like that explaination." Raise of an eyebrow to him as they got back upstairs though. "You know...you shouldn't say things like that when mother of said child is around. Not somehing you want to admit to misplacing..."

Sevilin turned a look from Zahara over to Malik and Piper whom apparently were among the public now. Both women in close quarters, gods. "Kids went outside with Keely to the draithix pen, getting Zykariel and egg."

"See, Sevilin knows where the children are. He'd one uping you, love."

They sat across from each other, neither one willing to blink. She moved her hand slowly, totally in control of the situation. "Checkmate." Mai said proudly as she captured the opposing [King].

Kimmuriel stared at the bored, and was dumbfounded at how he lost a game of [chess] to a child. He put a hand of his working eye. "You show no mercy." He smiled, "I certainly love that about you."

"You do not plan out your moves, and act randomly until there is a situation to respond too. All I have to do to beat you is lure you, and you play to my tune every time."

"That is a very clever thing to say. How old are you again, fifty, sixty?" He removed his beaten hand, and reset the pieces on the table. He looked into Mai's smiling face, and felt somewhat ashamed that he lost a child's game to a child.

"I am not sure how old I am. Vesandor was not very big when I was born, so I cannot be very old."

"I guess we will either have a wizard find out, or just pick a number."

"Are we going to play again?" Mai smiled happily.

"Another game wont hurt... Except my pride. Silly me, losing to an infant."

"Your lies and bluffs are not effective in a game that requires real strategy." Mai giggled and patted Kimmuriel on the head. "You can't handle only making one move at a time. You would probably win if you could move all the piece as the same time, or if they moved themselves for you." Kimmuriel allowed Mai to see an expression he used to cripple many negotiators with fear. His communicated his total guilt and total innocence with a simple relaxed smile that lured others into his sometimes very hypnotic eyes. "I see through your tricks, Father."

"Ah, you've only known me for a short while, and already you know me better than most of the pirates who served me. I am an open book if you know how to read the pages correctly. Everything I plan is clear to those who know the key."

"A ripple which likes to start the waves." After a few moves, Mai closed her eyes, to hide the tears forming up inside her. Kimmuriel did not like to see tears in children's eyes, so Mai would not show them to him. Her shoulders sagged, and her head began to shake and quiver. And soon, she was crying. She'd held out pretty long, all things considered. Participated in conversations, and tried very hard to put up a tough 'I'm a ******** drow, so I don't need time to recuperate from the loss of my family' front for her new father. She became too relaxed, too comfortable. Kimmuriel was being far too friendly toward her, and had accepted her without question. She tried to act as maturely as she could, to show him that she was strong, like her parents or the others in the village. But, she reached her limit. Her mind was not ready to be 'happy' so soon after Uthegental. She suddenly became very afraid to open her eyes. Kimmuriel had told her everything about himself she needed to know, and she knew quite well what he does to useless people.

She felt very warm, and it became hard to breath. Her body became heavy, and she found it difficult to move. Her tear stained face felt very stiff. "Its alright, Princess. I promise you I will stop the hurting." Her body seemed to sink into the ground, and she felt the cold touch of metal across her face and neck. She could not find the will to open her eyes, too afraid of what she might see. Her vivid memories of Uthegental stormed into her mind, and she blacked out.

Time passed, a dream formed in the darkness of Mai's slumber (reverie). Two shining purple orbs appeared before her, and bore into her soul. One orb, promised an eternity of pleasure, while the other orb promised her an eternity of pain. She saw the darkness around the orbs begin to take shape. The black became broken when white lines appeared in the sky, and then fell toward the orb, settling into place above them like streams of hair dancing in the wind. The ground took shape, and became a masculine body. Slowly, the black lightened, allowing the ebony skin of the drow forming in the dream to take full shape and character. He was injured, as a red line cut across the 'pleasure' orb, and several others appeared around his wrists, legs, and torso. A very scarlet hand print formed over his chest.

She realized that she was dreaming about the drow who saved her life, and she was cognitively drawing out the injuries he sustained during the battle. She became afraid, and fell to her knees again. A skeletal form rose from the body of the giant drow, and as ash formed about its body to create armour and a sword in its right. Its eyes glowed a blood-like scarlet, and a very malicious aura radiated from its left hand. She saw, remembered, her birth father dash across in front of her, swords blazing. Her mother too appeared, armed as she always was, without fear. The duet stuck down the intruder without mercy, until he appeared to be not much more than ash and bone.

They turned from the fallen skeletal corpse and rushed to her. They smiled and talked about how everything was going to be ok, the bad man was gone now. But then, the most frightful laughter consumed her ears. Her parents were still leaning over her, telling her it would be alright, she thought. She watched her parents, panic welled in her chest, and she tried to scream out, but nothing came. The ashen form approached her parents from behind, laughing as vilely as anything outside of hell can laugh. Her parents did not seem to notice it, the laughter fell upon their deaf ears. She tried to get her parents attention, she tried to tell them to turn around or run away. She tried ever so hard to get her parents away from the laughter, but they did not budge. They could not hear her words, they could not hear the laughter, and they could not do anything to stop the fate that awaited them.

The sword of the ashen form rose above its head, and struck downwards. The impact of the weapon was so great, nothing remained of the father figure. The mother did not seem to notice the absence of the father, and continued to talk to the daughter as though nothing was wrong. The sword rose up again, and the daughter could do nothing but watch as the weapon fell downwards. The mother was gone.

She could not move. The terror gripping her heart was all consuming, all powerful. The girl could not do anything but watch the ashen form lurch before her, leering with scarlet eyes. She saw the blade rise above its head again, and she could do nothing to stop it. She saw the blade begin its decent, but could do nothing to get out of its way.

Then, she heard it. The sound of metal ringing on metal. A shimmering ghost had rising up before her, and stopped the ashen figure from slaying her. She saw the shimmering weapons of the shimmering ghost, and could not comprehend much of what was happening. A splash of red flung across her face, and still she could not grasp what exactly was going on before her. She simply watched, somewhere lost between awe and panic for the duration of the ghastly battle. The aura hand stabbed into the shimmering ghost, and then the ashen body seemed to disappear all together. The shimmering ghost suddenly, or violently, or gracefully, took heed of the girl kneeling nearby. A red line crossed its face, which allowed a red goo to flow down its face. Only one purple orb looked upon her, shinning with a magical glow. The promise of pain and suffering loomed within that orb, and the girl felt her heart sag.

The shimmering ghost floated toward her, grazing the ground as though it were but a mist ready to sink back into the dark abyss which was the under dark. She felt a very soft, very gentle brush on her face. The shimmering ghost remained close to her. It seemed to be poised to possess her, to eat her soul, to steal her away from this wretched world. Its left hand seemed to shin with a silverly light, perhaps a magic spell to drain her life away. Yet, the shadow which was the right hand, gently whipped the blood away from her face. She could see the ghost more clearly, he was a young drow warrior. He did not look familiar, yet his presence seemed to be quite comforting to the child. She felt her heart harden in her chest, or burst with despair. She could not tell. Her face was only wet with blood, no tears fell from her face. She knew her parents were dead, and she was moments away from joining them before the warrior saved her. He saved her life.

The girl was supposed to live. The girl was fated to live onwards. She was destined to remain after the fall of her House.

Mai opened her eyes, sitting on her bed side with a damp cloth and without his armour was the shimmering ghost that saved her life. Two purple orbs staring at her from behind a concerned gaze. His white hair fell softly to the sides of his face, the length much longer than when she last saw him. She looked at him, her face sore with the pains of her rest. He smiled at her, differently than the way he would smile to others. He put his hand over her eyes, and gently kissed her forehead. The softness of his touch contrasted with the strength and texture of his armour. Mai felt herself fall back to unconsciousness. Her dreams retained their frightful images, but her body felt warm and safe.

The king entered the chamber, very very softly. He moved near the foreign prince, and narrowed his eyes at him.

Kimmuriel looked at the king, and communicated his will without moving his body or speaking. The promises and threats of his eyes were enough to let king Jiscal know what was going to happen if Mai should be disturbed. The king exited the room, where he meet his queen.

"We shall be hosting foreign diplomats until the young Princess is ready for travel." He informed her of the anonymous decision. Though, it was hardly anonymous nor a decision.

"I am actually happy to hear that. Despite the Prince, the Princess is rather refreshingly cute." She walked away from the room with the king, "I wished that some other Princes and Princesses would come to stay here... Perhaps ones to stay here after YOU are gone." Being a half-elf entitled Zeranda to a few benefits. Longevity was one of them. "I would like something to remember my attainment to Queenship from you." She poked him softly in the chest and departed from his company.

"No fair. Sevilin was here when I left them so he should know where they went to."

thus getting Piper out of the way of a confronation and taking her to see the kids.

"I see that Zykariel is getting a pet from our stock. might be a way to make some money there...but bring Yinn over here, I got something for him that should help him out in getting around easier."
