Miriam The Bat
Why aren't you wearing the kimono I let you borrow? sad
Meriko
Miriam: Because Alex (Shu) had to get me a nakie base to use for the July Thank You edits and now inventory's probably being a tart and not letting him get dressed again. ^^; Either that or Alex has discovered the joy of clothing optional avatars.

Yeah. What Meri said. First option there. sweatdrop

Malee: *kicks guys who for some reason think that "we need to talk" directly translates into "I need to dump you, post haste." Sometimes, dangit, we just need to talk.
Miriam The Bat
Boys seem to have a problem with talking. My boyfriend will ususally spend hours talking about things he likes, like interstate highways, and then tell me he's tired, or busy, or running out of minutes, when it's my turn to talk about what I want to talk about.

The worse thing about these cases is that the boy dosen't realize he's doing it.
You guys talk like it's only men who do this. xp I mean, for me, it's the other way entirely. I have to listen about webcomics for hours, and then she's too bored to listen to me at all. gonk And when I say we need to talk, I get something close to "OMG OH NOE WAT DID I DOOOOOO?" save the horrible grammar and spelling.

eek that long, eh? and now he's retiring (or is already retired? i lose track...). now that's what i call procrastinating xd

*looks at all the talk about boyfriends and girlfriends* i'm commitment-phobic xd well, dating, but not putting much effort into it. hurrah for single-ness.

In my (admittedly limited) experience it's only been the women who initiate relationship-fixing conversations and the reaction is always a variation of "Ugh...things are fine the way they are...why are you making me do this?" *heh* I'm perfectly able to admit that there are reverse situations out there, however.

I haven't heard anything about Stephen King retiring. Although perhaps he should. His writing doesn't appeal to me as much ever since he had his brush with death. (Van accident. He later purchased the van from the owner and then set it on fire, or something along those lines.)

Meri: It's just switched around for me. XD I always start up the fixing conversations, and I usually get silence on the other end when I do. XP

kay, I need a bit of advice from somebody with lots of experience. o_o

I've got a long situation to type up as well, so a messenger would be preferred if possible.

Lemme know~

Experience in life.

Meri, you'd probably be a good candidate, being a motherly figure. :3

Btw, the advice is for what I should do about a certain friend's situation.

*mrr* Management Meeting of Doom has been put off. I could have sworn he said Thursday when Wednesday turned out to be a bad day for it, but the manager just walked out the door and said he'd be back tomorrow. *lol*

Alex: I'm old, but not all that experienced with life. I fall off the scale when Myers Briggs tries to measure my introversion. XD

*bids 15k on Pixel Sage's auction*

Meri: Well, it has to do with a certain angst-ridden friend of mind. You happen to be any good in life lessons of the teenage life?

... Screw it, I'll just post the situation now. xD

k, so for 6 months+, a friend of mine has been wanting a relationship with this guy, and for the 6 months+, he's rejected her, because he's already in a relationship and has already said that he does not want a relationship with my friend.

As such, she's been in such a horrible emotional slump for the entire time, and for the longest while, I was trying nothing but to cheer her up. But now, it's gotten a bit too far. She claims she's losing care in everything, and wouldn't even mind dropping out of school.

So today, I gave her a little reality slap. I told her if she didn't have enough common sense to realize that she should stay in school, then she goddamned dang 14 years old, and that she shouldn't worry about some guy now as it is. I told her to give it a few years, because when 20-ish comes around, life gets a heck of a lot better. She wouldn't stop denying that though. I finished with saying she should just hurry up and give up this guy already, as it's not worth all the depression from it, especially after the six months of it already.

She replyed with "...im going" and signed off immediately. About ten minutes later, she signs back online with her user name yelling in a vulgar way for nobody to contact her. .... Why'd she even sign in then, is what I'd like to know.

But I asked my mother what she'd done, and she said she'd have given her a reality slap just as I did. My mother was molested, beaten, and tossed around from foster home to foster home, dozens of times. She told me all she could think about at the age of 14 was suicide. However, my mom survived, stayed in school, used common sense, and met my father at the age of 18. My friend has a life of royalty compared to my mother. She needs to get her act in check, I think.

She signed on so that she could get the "poor baby what's wrong?" messages. *restrains slapping hand with difficulty* She's only fourteen, Meriko...give her a break. *hand curls into fist* I said a break, not a broken jaw. Breathe.

*ahem* She needs some perspective, that's certain. She doesn't love this person from what I can tell. She's just "in love" with him. She's not considering at all what would be best for him or even what would make him happy, which are significant parts of the act of truly loving someone. All she wants is for her own desires and emotional needs to be satisfied. Tell the self-centered little drama queen to go buy herself a vibrator girl to get a puppy.

Many teenagers think they've already reached the pinnacle of their understanding and enlightenment when in fact all they've reached is one of the major plateaus in their ego development and selfishness. Logic is useless, or else they wouldn't shrug off the advice of their elders with such superiority and pity for our inability to understand.

"Woe. No one can really understand."

"No s***, Sherlock. No one has telepathy. We can, however, listen and imagine and draw upon our own experiences so pull your head out and hear what we're telling you."

"I'll never get over this. Pity me."

"Make me. And tell me, when did you acquire the gift of prophesy? Mothers all over the world watch their children die every day. Fathers search desperately for work and then come home to face their starving family's eyes. Don't even get me started about soldiers and homicide detectives and child prostitutes and abused women. I could find fifty million people on this earth who would kill a complete stranger plus a whole basket of kittens to have your life so don't you tell me your life is over just because Orlando Bloom won't ask you to marry him."

My hands are trembling; I'm so angry. I'm going to sign off for a bit and will be back later. Anyway, I just realized that was a rant and not any advice. So my advice to you would be to ignore her angst, pointedly refuse to even listen to any woe-is-me-ing, but still support and encourage her as able. Friends don't let friends embarass themselves by drowning in teenage angst.

Yikes. o.o;

Sorry I got you angry, Meri. sad

Though your rant brought upon me thinking that you agreed with what I was doing and had said, and therefore I did the right thing. That's advice enough for me. 3nodding

Thanks, Meri. I apologize again for upsetting your day. sweatdrop

( Though I must admit. You made me laugh uncontrollably during the first paragraph and with your crossed out text. XD )
