"Thank goodness." He slipped an arm around her, rubbing his thumb over the ring. "But will he still be on our side when we are against Serina?"

Terryn nodded solemly. "He better be. Luckily, I do not think Serina is in his favor right now." She grimaced, looking up at Marcus. "She wishes to start using my father's funds to finance her trips to the springs now."

Marcus rolled his eyes. "Why does she spend so much time at the springs, any how? It seems to me as though you would lose interest in it after the first or second time."

"The woman constantly ails." Terryn sighed, placing her head dramatically to her forehead. "She needs to be treated on an almost weekly basis now. I fear the woman will return one day covered in mud and we will never be able to recognize her again."

Frowning, Terryn nodded resignedly. "We have little choice. It will be rather odd when I begin disappearing at random and then altogether. And when I finally return home after a few years, I daresay she will be suspiscious when I have a child tagging along."

Marcus grinned. "You really think she'd notice?" But he couldn't help but be worried. "Really, she couldn't do anything to you. As long as you were careful."

Marcus pried Terryn's hands apart. "Be serious. She's a monster, to be sure, but not of the mud variety. And so we must think of another way to be rid of her."
