Only moments after entering the room the entire world seemed to become engulfed in darkness, the shadows hungrily devouring the light as they crept forward from the wall. When they finished they would only leave a large circular patch of the floor behind, marked with the symbol of a Pokeball. The temperature around the girl seemed to drop several degrees as a hysterical laughter erupted from somewhere within the gloom "GWAAAHAHAHAHAHA! Excellent! Fresh meat after so long!" The voice cackled maliciously at the girl before dropping into a low whisper, a clawed hand grasping at her shoulder "Tell me child...are you afraid?" And then the feeling was gone, the location of the voice switching "Prepare child, for now you face your own personal NIGHTMARE! GWAHAHAHA!!!!" The voice cackled again.
A high pitched bleat game from the far side of the ring, a Pokemon clad in brown fur bristling with leaves bounded into the ring. It was a Skiddo, overall an unexpected sight given the villainous context of the events heralding it's entry. Yet the longer she looked at the Grass-Type the more she would get the sense that there was something off about it. The Pokemon's eyes were dilated, deeply pitted into it's sockets, accented by dark circles as if the creature hadn't slept in weeks. Likewise the Pokemon's fur was dull and greasy, it's leaves drying and cracked...there was something seriously wrong with this Skiddo.
"Now call at your Pokemon child, and if you want it to live..." The voice began, and as it did a small vial of bubbling acid green liquid would rise from the floor "...have it drink this."
[At the beginning of a battle both participants will post the stats for the Pokemon involved. Akumu Academy uses a Turn best Combat System of Attack and Defense, meaning while One Pokemon is using a Move, the other Pokemon will either be Defending, Dodging, or otherwise trying to make the move fail. Who gets the first Attack is decided by which Pokemon has the highest SPD stat.]

The girl was a little uneasy but she did not wait for it to settle in her. She tossed the Pokeball up and released out into the world her only pokemon at the moment. Even though darkness seemed to be around the metalic shield like face glinted.
The Shieldon landed down and looked around. She shook herself a little and let out a small yawn. She had been in the pokeball for a while now and was relieved to be out. She saw the Skiddo and shivered as if she sensed it was sickly.
The girl, who was named Yukia Isano, knelt down and looked at the vial of acid green liquid. "I do not like feeding her strange liquids but if it will keep her from dying for now... I will use it" she said this mainly to herself she whistled a low pitched whistle and the Shieldon turned to her coming closer.
The Shieldon knew what she was going to have to do, she let her trainer pour the liquid down her throat. She shook herself and looked at the girls hand and turned around after having drank the potion.
Yukia sighed and nodded knowing she was ready "We are ready to prove ourselves worthy" The girl said this and stood up straighter.
"Worthy or not you'll bleed the same...but if that later you're sure to make a lovely SPLAT! GWAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!" The voice cackled, his tone swapping haphazardly between mirth and malice. There was a sharp cracking sound and briefly the shadows rippled, the voice calling out to both the Skiddo and the Shieldon "Giddo use Defense Curl! And you...try not to die to fast now. It's boring when they bleed out too quickly! GWAAAHAHAHAHAA!!!"
">Tch. Maaaaaan, this is wack jack. I don't gotta listen to you r' anyone! This Skiddo ain't doin' no pansy a** curlin' maaaaan<" The Skiddo said in a challenging bleat; apparently this one was something of a rebel..
"Is that so?" The voice said darkly, those three simple works seeming to declare so much more.
A shiver went through the Skiddo's whole body in that instant. Suddenly cowed the rebellious Grass-Type lowered his head and bleated ">Then...then again...<" Without another word the Skiddo attempted to curl up on himself, falling to the floor as he attempted to cover all his squishier bits.
[During each turn a combatants will roll 1 D20 by using Post Action -> Roll Dice. This is called an Accuracy roll and determines whether an attack hits or misses. Simply put if the Attacker Rolls highest the Move they used is successful and damage calculation follows (Unless a non-damage dealing move is used.). If the Defender rolls the highest the Move will fail and there will be no damage or ill effects.]
[When someone rolls a 20 this will be deemed a Critical. From that point forward for the remainder of the battle or until the Pokemon is swapped out +1 will be added to their roll for their Attack or Defense depending on when they rolled the 20. Alternatively if you roll a 1 you will receive a Fumble which will add -1 to their Roll on Attack or Defense. Rolls cannot drop below 0, but they can exceed 20 with modifiers.]

Yukia tilts her head at this display then thinks. Defense Curl was a non damaging move that improved ones defense. She prefered defense over offense. "Okay lets see, he is just building a defense why not get ready for our own attack" She was thinking of making the opponent slower to allow her a better chance to get a faster hit in later on. "Chrome, I want you to just get ready so for now keep your eyes on the Skiddo"
">Come on we can do more than just watch our opponent! I want to make this runt bleed!<" Chrome said this in a rattling clanking way.
Given that their opponent did little more than stare at them the Skiddo's move would easily succeed, the movements of his body easily covering up the various gaps in defense. Given his current position was quite the sturdy one there proved to be very little reason for him to move from his current state. Doubtless the enemy would have a difficult time getting him like this!
"You bleed, he bleeds, it's all the same to me! Blood for all! Splatter against the wall! GWAAAHAHAHAAH!" The voice cackled. Either he was trying to psych the little girl out, or he was truly a raving lunatic...either way it wasn't exactly instructive commentary!
[Now to teach you about Damage Calculation. For the sake of instruction we'll pretend I used a damage dealing move rather than Defense Curl. The formula for damage calculation is as follows.]
[To give an example here is what the Damage calculation would have looked like with our current rolls.]
(9 - 7) + (8 - 10) = 0 (No Damage)
[If it had been a Special Attack the stats used in the second half of the calculation would have been as so.]
(9 - 7) + (8 - 9) = 1 DMG
Chrome HP: 12/13
[Now keep in mind that in Akumu Academy Pokemon can DIE. HP does not stop at 0 but continues into Negative Numbers based on the excess damage. Once a Pokemon's HP drops below -7 they die. Once dead no amount of Revives or trips to the Pokemon Center can bring them back.]
[The exclusion to this rule is Ghost-Type Pokemon whom cannot die.]

Yukia shook her head thinking. She had planned on slowing down the opponent pokemon but she did not know if that was the right call. She closed her eyes and thought as quick as she could "Well Chrome lets just charge in and keep our other moves a secret for now, use Double-Edge!" She called out her command for Chrome.
Chrome was happy for this command, she wanted to cause pain first move if she could hit that is. ">Lets see if you can take this!" sge cried out her clanking plates sounded out as she charged straight for the Skiddo.
As fate would however have it the Shieldon's aim was a little off, and as she drew close to the Skiddo one of her feet would trip over the Grass-Type's twisted horns, sending her rolling tail over head passed him and stopping directly in front of the wall of darkness surrounding them. "GWAAHAAHAHA! Are you sure you didn't want to be a Clown instead of a Trainer child? I knew a Cricus that would be happy to have you!" The voice mocked afterward, you could practically hear the sneer spreading across his face.
"Now then Giddo, why don't you show them a proper attack? Flatten the little meat sack with Rollout~!" The voice commanded sharply, though clearly giddy at the thought of causing some bloodshed.
">Maaaaaaan, why did I get stuck with this looney?<" The Skiddo bleated as he rose onto his hooves, the stance holding only for a second as he curled into a ball again, this time upright, and began to roll forward. Like the boulder in a certain famous film he was set to flatten the hero!
[Now for the subject of items. Items can only be used during your own Attack turn,and it will use up this turn. That means if you use a Potion you will be unable to attack and the battle will proceed directly to your opponents Attack.]
[For obvious reasons items such as TM's, Held Items, or Key Items (excluding things like a PokeFlute) cannot be used during battle.]
[Most importantly is capturing a Pokemon. When throwing a Pokeball you must of course first have a Pokeball. You must additionally roll 1 D20 to see if the Capture Succeeds. This is called a Capture Roll.]
[Each Pokemon has a Capture Rate. To find out what this currently is simply ask the Moderator currently controlling the Pokemon. Capture Rate will drop based on HP, Status Effects, and certain other outside factors.]

Yukia frowned and shook her head "Do not tease me, I am no clown nor is my pokemon" She looked at the speeding roll out about to strike at Chrome. "Chrome get up and dodge that rollout!"
Chrome was startled a little by her trainer's anger. She didnt understand the anger but knew it was not directed at her but the other trainer. She rolled herself onto her side and got up seeing the Rollout coming for her. She tried to wait till the last second to scoot out of the way.
Choosing to rely on speed and agility wise likely not the wisest decision this or any Shieldon had ever made, especially without proper time to do so. The truth in this would be revealed as the Skiddo crashed into Chrome like a mighty boulder which had just come rolling down the hill.
"Excellent! Chip away that steely hide and show me the blood! GWAAHAHAHAAA!" The voice cackled, encouraging the Skiddo to continue with all the force it could muster!
With little real choice the Giddo would follow the command, giving a bleat of ">Maaaaaaaan<" As he rolled off than circled back around, picking up speed with the intent of hitting Chrome even harder than last time!
Yukia thought a good quick head on collision would help her a bit, but it would also hurt Chrome. She had to think quick on her feet and she decided to just try it. After all she did have a slight type advantage. "Use Double-Edge again Chrome!"
Chrome sighed ">You want me to get hurt dont you missie<" She stomped hard and then charged straight for the Skiddo. She did not think twice about it she just charged closing her eyes ready to crash into Skiddo.
"Bah. Seems you've passed...and with significantly less violence than I would have prefered..." The voice complained, still as the Skiddo's body would suddenly vanish and the shadows began to recede the voice would call out "WELCOME TO AKUMU ACADEMY...STUDENT!"
Yukia gasped at how Chrome knocked out the Skiddo in one hit. She looked around and nodded "I shall, try to do my best for the Academy" She said this just as she was about to recall Chrome. The light went out from the pokeball and hit Chrome.
Chrome was sucked into the ball and she wondered just before she was completely in the ball if she would come back out soon.
Yukia after having called back Chrome turned and left the room.
