"I know. I'm simply stating why Alek shouldn't kill you. It wouldn't be good for the baby. You would've probably been less sheltered and more ready for the world if I hadn't been the only one to raise you after Marianne left." Mala stated casually, still keeping her tone soft so that Van could rest. "I remember when you were just a toddler. You were so adorable then. After seeing your adorable face and seeing the horrors that this world has - I guess I grew a little overprotective. After that baby is born, I guarantee you'll see what I mean." As Mala said this, she looked happy - nostalgic.

"Do you really have to bring up the toddler stuff? It's embarrassing!" Riley said turning a little red in the face. "And I certainly hope you're going to help tomorrow. I have no idea how to deliver a baby."

"Don't worry - I'll help. The temple made us all learn how to take care of babies and births back while I was still a priestess." Mala assured Riley, still remembering the teachings from the days she still served the god of fertility. "Bewarned, though, it'll be messy. Many fathers faint when they see their baby being born. I hope you're the exception."

"I hope so too. I need to take the baby and run once she's born or there's an extremely high chance of Angel killing her." Riley said grimly.

"If it'll help, I'll put a barrier around you to keep anything from happening to you or the baby." Mala offered easilly, not about to let Angel kill her(Mala's) niece - Riley's daughter to boot! He'll, she'd sooner risk her own life than allow that to happen.

"I was hoping to stay out of the baby delivery, but I guess I can at least help hold Angel back if I have to..." Van said with a yawn as he slowly awoke once more. He'd been in that nap time state where you're sleeping peacefully but just conscious enough to hear what's going on.

"I think that might be what the chains and rope are for..." Mala said, thinking for a moment. She bit her bottom lip, pretty sure that the birth was going to be a very difficult process for everyone with all the precautions that had to be taken.

"True. I just hope she won't try to bite you because of it." Mala said, frowning slightly at the thought. Mala still kept her arms around Van as they were before - except she had stopped stroking his hair when he moved his head. She's let go of him entirely if he wished her to.

Angel scooted to Mala and hugged her, then grabbed her hand. "Lala, feel my tummy." She pulled the hand to her tummy. "Can you feel Jezebellun? She's cute. I think her hair is going to be pink." She smiled happily. Then her wings rustled. "Ooh, and I know what her demon is, too."

Mala wasn't too happy about Angel's situation, but didn't act nearly as angry as she had expected towards her. Perhaps it was because she was pregnant or because part of her was accepting this. Mala blinked in surprise when Angel grabbed her hand and let her feel the baby. Mala smiled softly, one arm around Van and the other feeling a kick from Jezebellun. She kept a warm smile now. Somehow, Mala also seemed to have a spark of green envy in her eyes. Perhaps it was because she was sure she'd never have the chance to experience something like this. Still, she seemed a bit distracted as she tried to imagine what it'd be like to be with child.

"Van gets to feel too," Angel said, putting Van's hand on her tummy as well. "Riley gets to be the first one to hold Jezebellun, so he doesn't get to feel right now." Then she squirmed a little. "Oooh. I think she's going to be like Alek. Smart and nice."
"Actually, phenomenally small. I'd expect a baby from Angel and another vamp, but from Riley? It's totally unlikely for reasons both biological and, well, common sense."
Her eyes narrowed. "Are you making fun of my TARDIS?"
