Helping Miyuki put back on the tunic, Lin was very grateful for Ulani's help, "Thank you so much."
All the while she was trying to ignore the look that Miyuki was giving the pants. Somehow she foresaw things were going to get difficult.

Ulani grinned. "Hey, don't worry about it. Even if it's only been a few years since I've really had a chance to dress anyone up, I still enjoy it. I've been a mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. I hope I live to see many more generations, and that I get to dress up all of them."
She laughed softly at Miyuki's glare. "And perhaps we'll have to find a way to get her to keep her pants up. She's going to be cold without them ..."

"If she can get them off as soon as the tails are in the hole, I would call her one very determined little girl," Lin replied picking Miyuki up out of habit.
It was then she saw the look Miyuki was giving the poor pair of pants.
"Or... I wouldn't' put it past her..."

Ulani giggled again, then put the clothes atop a crate.
"At any rate," she smiled, "You might as well take her out to join Earendil and Ulrich and Jasmine. I'll try not be long, and then you'll have some proper clothes for her. How does that sound?"

"That sounds wonderful," Lin replied with a smile, "I'll see you in a few then."
She left with Miyuki looking over her shoulder at the clothes that Ulani was holding. If only Lin understood how much Miyuki disliked those pants.
Carefully she made her way down the hall to see how Earendil was doing.

By this time, it was Earendil who was sitting across from Jasmine and playing chess, and Ulrich was the one sitting on the couch and watching them. They all three looked up as Lin and Miyuki entered the room, and Earendil smiled at them.
"So?" he asked. "Any luck?"

"Found clothes that would fit her, but...." Lin chuckled at Miyuki a bit as she set her down, "Miyuki doesn't seem to be fond of the pants, so we'll see how that goes."
To Lin it was funny because she wasn't fond of dresses.

Earendil chuckled. "Well, maybe once she realizes they'll keep her warm, she won't mind them as much," he grinned, moving piece on the board. "You never know, knowing how stubborn she can be, but ..."
He watched as Jasmine moved, then moved a piece of his own.

The moment Miyuki saw Earendil she made her way over to him, wanting to be held. She didn't have fun at all while he was gone, wearing that thing was no fun at all.
"Maybe, but she was giving the pants a dirty look," Lin giggled, "You should have seen it."

Earendil lifted Miyuki to his lap. "Now, don't touch any of this," he told her, nodding at the board and the pieces. "Okay? Don't touch."
He smiled and tapped her lightly on the nose.

Miyuki twitched her nose and stared at the board. She had no clue what was going on, but continued to look at it anyways as if something was going to happen. When nothing did she looked up at Earendil in confusion. Making a little sound as if to try and ask what the big deal was.

Earendil chuckled softly. "It's a game, Miyuki," he smiled at her. He nodded for her to look at the board as Jasmine moved a piece, capturing one of his. "See?"
He reached forward and moved another of his pieces, capturing the one that had just captured his. He grinned at Jasmine triumphantly, but when he saw the look of triumph in her eyes his smile faltered. "What?"
Without hesitation, Jasmine moved another piece forward and set it right in front of his queen. "Checkmate."
Earendil groaned.

"Ma!" Miyuki pointed to the piece that Jasmine had set down.
She was utterly interested in this whole thing and it delighted her because obviously something happened even though she didn't know what it was.

Earendil chuckled and stood up, holding Miyuki firmly. "I'm ashamed to say it, but I lost faster than Ulrich did."
Jasmine giggled up at him, her dark eyes shining. "And that's not easy to do," she grinned, reaching for the pieces and putting them back in place.
"Ulani's the only one who can hold her own against her," Ulrich chuckled, though there was a proud note in his voice. "Her and Serenity."

Lin chuckled at that, it sounded like Jasmine was quite talented.
"So it takes a lot of skill," Lin murmured.
Miyuki, who noticed that Jasmine was moving a lot of the pieces leaned forward to snatch one off the board. They were interesting looking!
