It wasn't long before they were back on the ship. They landed lightly, and Aurin immediately started untying their harnesses.

Rather than waiting, Earendil started to undo his own harness.

"Definitely better with the malek," he muttered, "though still not the most comfortable of rides."

"I won't argue with you," Earendil shrugged, "but I won't agree with you either. Glad someone can enjoy it."

He hopped to the deck and rubbed his temples gently. "Not as bad, this time, but definitely not my favourite way to travel."

The moment Celeb's feet hit the deck, he took off towards the door that led to Haldia's room.

"I hope I can convince her," Earendil murmured softly. He gripped the wrapped package that was still in his hand. "I just hope she's willing to give it another try. Maybe even come back to the city with us in the morning. But her time with Celeb has done her good, she's definitely a lot better than she was at first."

He smiled at Lin. "We can only try, right?"

Earendil chuckled at Senka. "Give the others time to make dinner first," he grinned. "Starr may already have dinner ready for us, but we have to be sure. Besides, I want to put my things back in my quarters, I'm not sure about Lin."

He glanced over at Lin to see if she would do the same.

Earendil laughed. "Then let's go, and then we can see about dinner afterwards," he grinned, putting one hand on Lin's head. "Then dinner, a good night's sleep, and in the morning we can talk with Haldia. If you still want to come with me, that is," he added, "I don't know how tired you are or if you have other plans ..."

He blinked down at her as they started towards their quarters.

Earendil's smile grew wider. "Excellent," he said warmly. "Then let's get our stuff put away so that we can have dinner and get to bed."



When morning came, Earendil was already up on deck, warming up for his daily exercises where he wouldn't wake Celeb, and waiting for Lin to join him so that they could visit Haldia together. He had a feeling that they wouldn't be leaving for the island for a few hours yet at least - Kelirahc and Leyenda had returned to the ship hours later than the others, and since Kelirahc was going to be bringing them - simply so that they wouldn't be such a bother for Aurin all the time - they would have to wait for him to wake up.

Earendil looked up just in time to catch Senka, and he laughed heartily. "Good morning!" he said brightly, holding Senka in his arms and scritching behind her ears. "And here I thought I'd beaten everyone else awake."

He chuckled. He had gotten up much earlier than usual in the hopes that they would be able to talk to Haldia without Celeb - not that he didn't like the boy, but Celeb was possessive of Haldia and didn't really think before he spoke, and he needed to have a good intellectual conversation with her.

"Did you hear anything when you went past Haldia's door?" he asked Lin, wondering if Haldia would be awake yet.
