Hakurei Meimu considering that many anime still sucks or is super cliche. That or you're just watching the wrong anime.
Also, no one says ZUN's character designs HAD to be original. I'm not surprised to see a similar design come first. It's called inspiration.

Considering the source material, I highly doubt ZUN came in contact with that similar image.
Plus, most of ZUN's stuff is nicely adapted from mythology anyway. Seems the scroll is probably a copy of the lotus sutra, which was claimed to have some very intense mystical effects.

Hakurei Meimu  Holy s**t And for those of you wondering, Jerdana came first. Am I the only one who dosen't see simularities. I mean personally Jerdana looks more Sarasvati to me. Both are have a whimsical moving dancing/playing pose with their eyes close, have dramatic scarfs, heck even the sides of Sarasvati's head wear and and the article of clothing hang down from behind kind of makes it kinda look like she has pointed ears and a tail. and even then I still wouldn't consider one to be copying the other. While on SMT though, look who I ran into a while back on Imagine. and for a final SMT/Touhou referance, Okuninushi. oh, and to whom it may concern...(a bit early but I will probably be too busy/lazy later)

I figured every one would be recieving "Merry Christmas" and Touhou Christmas pictures would be easy to find, so I would make those those it does not apply to feel welcomed with hastily made crappy Touhou edited holiday pictures. What? Byakuren's outfit is similar to Suigintou's. She was based on the nameless sister of the real life monk, Myouren.

Now that we're on holidays, I find it kinda strange that Mexican people in the state of Guanajuato ask for gifts to the Magi. ^^
Also, if you think this guild is dead, it's not. I know what a really, really dead guild is like gonk
