Rex dove through the next passing wave and paddled out pretty far, kicking his legs up to float on the surface. He craned his head to see Colche back close to shore and paddled back towards the girl."I see, now." He came to his feet with the water level at his chest.

"Can you come out here and stand next to me?" he said, taking things step by step. "First we've got to teach you to get your feet off the ground." Water was his element, he'd loved swimming ever since he was a little kid, but Rex had learned from using a life jacket. Unless there was a boat somewhere nearby, he doubted he find one that easily. Just another thing to put on his 'Must Get' list.

Colche nodded softly. The water had never scared her, why should she be frightened of it? It was fun, it was wet and it made sand castles really good when added to sand.

Shorter than Rex by far she barely got to him by standing on her tippy toes. She had never been under the water before, except in the bath. Smiling up at rex, still not quite as far out as he was, the tops of her shoulders, neck and head the only parts of her vissable though her hair didn't seem to wish to sink just yet and floated out behind her like a strange black cape. "Okay" she said, though she din't get all of what Rex said, how was she going to get her feet off the ground? She didn't have wings like a bird after all.

Oops... he thought to himself, stupid height. He chuckled and said, "Okay, now I'm going to grab you by the waist, and you're gonna push the water away with your hands.. er.. paws! And don't forget to kick a little." He demonstated the doggy paddle in a circle around her, then came to his feet and placed one hand on her stomach, another on her back, lifting her backside to the water's surface and turning her in a circle around him. Hopefully this meathod would give her the general idea.

"Oh!" she was quite surprised by the little lift but she had watched rex closely to see what he had done. "whee" she grinned, realising after a moment what she was supposed to be doing. Her clawed fingers started to paddle as he held her though she paused to look at him to double check she was doing it right. It was a minuite before she realised she was supposed to kick her legs too. This was fun, she decided splashing a little as she performed the manouvers that Rex had only shown her a moment before. Her long tail snaked out behind her twitching in the water too, it looked almost like a rudder it was so straight, the very tip just inching back and forth every so often. If this was swimming, iot was easy, she could do this all day. She gave a little giggle her fluffy ears flattening against her head asshe continued to doggy paddle with Rex holding on to her. Swiming was fun, it was easy peasy.

"Good! You're doing great." He said when she looked up at him. She took to it pretty quickly, if not a bit splashy. but there was nothign wrong with that. For a beginner she was really well! He started to push a bit less and less, having Colche be the main power behind swimming. "Now remember to keep your head above the water and breathe." He blurted random advice to the girl, even though it didn't appear she needed it.

After a few more circles, he was getting some confidence in her and removed his hand from her back, while still holding it at the ready. The salty ocean water made it simple for her to float, but he kept his hand on her belly for the extra needed support. "That's amazing... y'got it?" He said, wondering if she had the confidence to swim on her own now.

Colche listened quietly to his advice, keeping her chin up out of the water, her limbs pushing hard against the rolling waters around them. She gave a little gigle and nodded, it was fun. She barely even noticed him removing his hand off of her back she was so heavily concentrating on what she was doing. "s'fun" she mumbled, betwen breaths trying to remember what she was doing, she assumed to swim somone else had to be there with you to hold your tummy, Rex must be a really good swim, person, she was enjoying this so much.

Colche had progressed far in quite a short amount of time. "Very good!" He said, bringing her back side down to the ground once more. "Ready to do it by yourself?" He said, pushing off the sandy sea bottom into a doggy paddle of his own. Keeping it simple would be good for today, maybe later he'd teach her things like holding her breath under the water and the breast stroke. Teaching her was fun and he wondered why he didn't take up a job at a surf school back home. Surfboard... he scribbled that down on his mental checklist as well. He hadn't surfed in a few months because of work, but now he was free.

Oh! You didn't need somone to hold you at all! She grinned and took a deep breath, trying to mimic Rex's manouver and get her butt back on the surface. For a moment, she splashed alot, water flecking around her face, which wasn't really very fun, but she soon started moving rowards and her strokes became softer as she followed Rex "Swim!" she called after him, keeping her head, very high above the water, her chin almost pointing at the sky. Her tail obviously was acting as a rudder, moving back and forwards , though her butt would sink occassionally as she forgot to kick while concentrating on what she was doing with her hands, she soon remembered she had to kick though and eventually managed to do both at the same time. She was becoming rather tired though, how did she turn around without Rex holding on to her?

She's doing it! Rex beamed as he saw the cheetah paddle straight for him, he moved to the side to make way for her as she continued to swim on. "Bravo!" He applauded, spashing a little water and clapping his hands together. he was so proud of his little girl that he'd almost forgotten she was swimming out to sea. "Whoa! Hold on!" He said, swimming out afer her and pointing her back towards the shore. "If yeh want to turn, then just push harder with one side. It'll take some work, but you'll get used to it."

Rex lowered himself into the water and swam gently along side her, showing her the proper form for maximum efficiency. "See? It's not that hard. It's smooth.. and relaxed..." He flipped over on his back and pushed gently with just his feet, examining as the girl prevailed in fighting back against the waves and the water.

Colche looke dup at rex, she was heading back for the shore now and her tongue stuck out a bit as she concentrated on getting back to land "Tired" she stated, with a little pant. Cheetahs were short bursts of energy creatures, she only had so much hyperactive energy before she felt tired and needed a nap to re energise. Of course, she didn't realise she could touch the ground and splish splashed almost to the shore before she realised her feet could touch bottom once again. She sat in the shallows for a moment panting softly trying to get her breath back. Still she managed to look around andgrin at Rex. "Like swim" she stated, though she knew she wouldn't do it on her own any time soon, she had enjoyed the experience.

Her fur was all wet as she stood andshe shook doggy style her fur all sticking up on end making her look like a little fluf ball for a minute before her fur flattened at least a little. She looked bacjk to the sea, a long, toothy yawn displaying her need for at least a short nap, though a logn one would be better. It was starting to get cool any way. She shivered to proove the point. She hadn't quite gotten ove rher cold yet though her sneezing seemed to have stopped. She rubs ehr eyes with the back of her furry fingers and long blinks standing up. She wanted ehr duplex though, her bed and her duplex. No more sleeping outside, it just wans't fun any more.

Rex stood up in the shallow water again and trudged he way back to the sandy shore when he realized he didn't have a towel! He, too, shook his whole body as hard as he could, throwing bullets of water to the ground. This was proceeded by the individual shaking of each limb and his head, his hair flew in a frenzy as the ocean breeze acted like a weak hairdryer. "Time to turn in, I s'pose." Rex slipped on his jeans, not caring too much if they got wet, but carried his shirt in his hand.

For a little game while heading back, Rex whisked Colche into his arms just like he had done with Amaya and carried her through the jungle back to their duplexes. The day was beginning to come to a close anyway. "Bed for you?" He said as the village come into view through the trees.

Colche nodded softly. her big blue eyes were already closed as they entered the villiage. She could sleep like a log, she really could. She yawned toothily again, showing those white fangs which had never done anyone any harm "sleepsleep" she stated, snuggling in to rex with a quiet puurr, though the puurr didn't last very long, she was falling asleep in his arms.

Her duplex door was always open and once rex had deposited her upon ehr bed, her fur almost dry by now, she snuggled deeply in tot he coveres and with her eyes, still closed she whispered "night, night" she puurrs and smiles "thankyous" she yawns once final time, her puurr fading to nothing and her breathing becoming rythmical as she dozed off in to a happy, tired sleep.

Rex watched her doze off sweetly and he crept out her door as silently as possible, closing it with a small click. Then he headed back to his own duplex for a second shower to wash off all the salt water. He could get used to relaxing like this.

New Rp:

The sun beat down on the girl, who, although enjoying the burst of warmth, winced at the bright light as she leaned down over her picked 'crop' of beach grass. Most of it was still rather moist, and wouldn't be ready for weaving for almost another week- but in the past few days, she'd been picking out any strands that were dry enough, and she hoped today to find enough ready to complete her third basket.

The first was in her mountain home, sitting next to her "bed"- a pile of dried leaves and moss, over which her sheet bundled it all together and folded under into a makeshift matress. That particular basket was her smallest, and shallowest- made only the day before, solely for the purpose of holding her jewelry box, her picture of Mizzie, and her goggles, when she cast them off to sleep. The larger one she'd made that first day was the largest, and sat next to her on the sand, half-filled with nuts and roots. Her digging stick- sharpened by a rock she'd found by the lakeside- was in the basket as well, two inches soaked in dirt still moist from the rainstorms.

This basket would be in between the two, she figured, as she sat to complete it, languishing on the sand and enjoying the swell of the waves.

A short man in spelunking gear was following the mountain's curve to the other side of the island. Zach had spent over an hour being lost in heavy jungle brush. Surprisingly, he was having minimal difficulty despite his disability - to all who looked, it was obvious he lacked a left arm. A hasty knot to the shirt sleeve was the most he'd bothered to do that morning. He wasn't planning on talking to any of these other islanders until he'd gotten to the bottom of their little scheme.

Whack. That was another branch that came out of nowhere to hit him in the face. While he liked nature, it was preferrably from the other side of a glass wall. He'd had a rough night, and hoped sincerely he could find the caves that Dr. Duvert had mentioned were on the island. Though that too could be a lie. This was so confusing.

Suddenly, he was out of the jungle and onto the hot sand. The sunlight was nearly blinding. He'd definitely gone the wrong way, for sure.

But there! He could see a girl sitting on the beach, bending over something. Well, here went nothing. He carefully strode down the shining dunes to talk. His curiosity always got the better of him.
