Aideen had finished her doodle of a tree and a squirrel and sat waiting in the empty transfiguration classroom. "Hmm, this is odd." Nobody was there yet, not even Professor McGonagall, and she is normally there several minutes early. Maybe class was canceled or something, Aideen thought while chewing on the tip of her pencil. I'll just sit here and wait a few more minutes. If nobody shows up, then I'll go and find something to do...maybe take a walk...or a nap...

Daniel Evans had convinced Madam Pomfrey that he was okay after a short times rest. He told her he had a hard head and rapped on his skull with his knuckles while making a weird, but cheerful face.
When he was finally released he pocketed the note, and clutched Fluffy in one arm before setting out for his next class, where he knew Aideen would be.
Humming a small tune he walked into the Transfiguration classroom taking in the empty view, at first with sadness. Then his joy picked up when he saw her sitting alone. Straightening out his robes he nervously walked up to her. "Ai- Ai- Aideen?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Devin Williams grew angrier with each step he took away from the earlier scene. Everyone who passed him by was hit with a curse, jinx, or hex. Anyone, especially a Slytherin, who asked how his day was going was answered with the Cruciatus Curse. He needed a punching bag. Someone to put out all his pains and anger within him.
Unfortunately for him, and fortunately for Daniel, a rock that caught on his dragging foot made him trip just around the corner from the Infirmary. He missed Daniel, but not a passing Ravenclaw. Picking himself up off the floor he limped into the Infirmary where he half-threatened Pomfrey for medical attention.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Up in the Tower, Jake rubbed the back of his neck as he waited for Anna-Marie's response. She wasn't saying anything and he had a feeling Tommy was talking to her first. About what, who knew? He turned back towards the stairs as if to leave, but stopped and looked over his shoulder. "Look, if you don't want to go out on Halloween just say so." Then he descended the stairs without another word.
It wasn't another tactic of his. He just...gave up. Threw in the towel and walked away. Half of him was hoping Anna-Marie would come after him, the other half didn't seem to care anymore. Jake felt he might as well wait until AFTER Hogwarts, when he was back in the Muggle world to look for a relationship or a female friend to go out with.
He walked to the infirmary and sat down on the cot next to Devin, but separated by a thin white sheet that blocked each others views until Madam Pomfrey approached him.
"You look fine, deary." Madam Pomfrey said as she looked about his body, and his expression. "But how are you feeling, maybe a nice potion will fix you up."
Jake scoffed a bit. "Physcially, I'm fine. Got anything for getting lucky with the ladies?"
The Magical Nurse giggled slightly and shook her head. "Unfortunately, that you will have to find on your own. But I will leave you here to sulk a little." Then she went to walk away before stopping, looking at her newest patient. "You're a friend of Mr. Williams, aren't you?" She pulled back the curtain in between them to reveal Devin sitting in the same position as Jake but with a scowl on his face. Then she walked off.
A few minutes passed by without a word being said between the two. Finally it occurred to Devin who was sitting next to him. Glancing over he watched Jake for a smart witty comment so he could curse him too, but none came. Which was...odd. The Slytherin didn't feel like talking to anyone, but Jake's odd ways was starting to nag at him. "Not going to ask what happened?" Devin finally asked.
Jake remained the same sitting position as if he were trying to turn to stone. "Want me to?"
"Not really."
"Then I won't."
Williams nodded a bit, totally in understanding with their short exchange of words. But Jake was...Jake. Now that Devin had planted the seed of curiosity, it was only a matter of time before Jake asked.
"So what happened?"
Devin felt a smile creep up to his lips. A smile he never knew existed under all his anger. "Had a duel with a fellow up-coming Death Eater who was protecting a defiant Hufflepuff. I think he fancied her."
"Did you lose?"
"What do you think?"
"No offense. But for someone who desperately wants to support and follow one of the most powerful wizards in the World, albeit evil, you suck at dueling."
Devin turned his head to scowl at Jake. He wasn't expecting that sort of answer, and it angered him just a bit where he reached for his wand. But all action stopped. The American had broken from his mood and was grinning at his housemate. The grin was toxic. The Dark Lord supporter didn't want to, but he found himself grinning back. Inwardly he felt like he should have cursed him right then and there. That felt like the usual way to answer such cheerfulness towards his misfortunes. But his natural answer was to simply accept it and brighten up from his dark mood. It creeped him out.
Jake turned away, his mood brightening up. He yawned and stretched as if it were a nap time. But instead he rubbed his eye with a fist, much like a child would, and continued on with a question. "What's it take to be a Death Eater, anyways? What's the benefits?"
Williams looked away to look down at his legs, which he started to swing back and forth. When the question came up he snapped his eyes back to Jake, wide open as if he had asked the stupidest question in the world. But he was shocked to hear it. All of Jake Defi's...rebellious acts against the Dark Lord and his supporters. All those times he said the Dark Lord's name without a care in the world. And now he was asking to become a Death Eater. Devin felt his consciousness twirling out of control of his grasp, and he almost fainted but held it together long enough to regain control.
The Slytherin hopped off the bed and limped up to Jake clapping his hand on his back. "Well, Jakey my boy! You have come to the right person with your questions about joining our ranks."

Anna-Marie had been waiting to see if Tommy would speak before she answered Jake. She had a feeling that he might have wanted to protest. However, after a few minutes of an awkward silence, Jake decided to up and leave. Apparently, it seemed as if she wasn't interested in him any longer. That wasn't really true. He did frustrate her immensely though.
So, she turned to Tommy a moment or so after Jake left. "I'm sorry Tommy, I need to go. If you're up to talking later, we'll do so...." She trailed off before turning to leave. She left the guy with an apologetic look before leaving. She rushed down the tower to follow Jake. She hurried, not knowing where he was headed. Great, just great. Anna-Marie had waited just a bit too long to chase after him. She finally decided to ask around to see if anyone had seen him.
Five minutes later she had gotten a response. Some fourth year had spotted him heading into the infirmary. She made her way there as fast as she could. She was just starting to come through the doors when she heard the question. She couldn't really believe she had heard it come out of Jake's lips, but she had.
The color left her cheeks quite quickly. Before she could be spotted, she turned and exited the hospital wing. She waited outside the door, ready for Jake to come through them, no matter how long it took. She was going to have a little chat with him.
Carina smiled, remembering that they were going to go find Neville. Well, maybe not. It was already too close to class to cut it short. He'd be in there though, that's when she could see him again. "Maybe we should just head to class. We'll be late if we don't. Besides...He should be there too..." .

Jake wasn't in there for long. He and Devin agreed to meet elsewhere, away from anyone who could listen in. But upon their leaving they were intercepted by Madam Pomfrey who insisted that Devin stay.
With a little arguing and a lot of yelling from the Nurse, Devin was forced to stay leaving Jake to freely walked out of the Infirmary, right past Anna-Marie, not even seeing here there.
He wasn't aware of the fact that she had heard him and Devin talking either. Nor did he expect her down so soon as he walked off to...wherever. The American didn't feel like going to class.

Anna-Marie was glad that it didn't take long for Jake to leave the Infirmary. Good, she could speak her mind while she was still fuming. She followed behind him and eventually caught up. "Jake....Jake!" She called out, acting as if she had just found him, rather than knew where he had been. "I've been looking for you! I tried to follow you out of the Astronomy tower, but I lost track of you..." She half-lied. It was true, but she left out the last bit. He'd find out soon enough anyways.

"Yeah, right. Whatdya want?" He asked, slightly annoyed that she was around. Jake had been hoping he wouldn't see her for a while so he could forget about her and go on with his life. But now here she was, and he didn't feel like trying anymore. The Slytherin turned around to face her, but placed his hands on his hips and waited for her answer, his whole physical emotions practically telling her to hurry up.

Anna-Marie raised an eyebrow at his stature. It looked like he was impatient. Really? He was getting an attitude with her? Bad idea. However, she played it off momentarily. "Ummm.....I was going to tell you that I had wanted to go out with you...." She trailed off, waiting to see his reaction to that..

Aideen looked up from her drawing of the squirrel and tree, which had several flowers, a tree house shaped like a pirate ship, and a cartoon of her dressed like a pirate sword fighting what appeared to be cartoon vampires that sparkled. She was a bit shocked to see Daniel standing next to her. Aideen just stared at him for a few seconds trying to collect her thoughts into coherent phrases. "Yes Daniel?" She paused and looked down. When she spoke again it was said very rapidly. "I'm a bit shocked to see you here. I was under the assumption that you hated me now because...well..." She looked down to see him holding Fluffy. "..of the reasons that my note explained." Aideen stopped talking and looked up at Daniel; she tried to give him a rather goofy looking apologetic smile, but she just ended up looking stupid.

Jake stared at her in disbelief, not believing her at all. He shook his head. "You're lying. If you're going to lie, do it better." The teen said plainly, crossing his arms and shaking his head a bit sadly. "Honestly, why are you here?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Silently Daniel stood there listening to her. When she was done he held out Fluffy towards her. "It's my fault...if I wasn't so clumsy with everything I wouldn't have jumbled up my words and gotten you and myself mixed up to make it sound like I didn't want to date you. But I like you. I really do...I just don't know how to say it."
Aideen spoke before fully hearing all of Daniel's words. "No. It's my fault. I shouldn't have over reacted when you said that you didn't like me. You would think that I should be used to rejection by now." After she finished speaking Aideen sat there for a moment quietly. Then what Daniel had said hit her. Aideen blushed. He likes me? She reached out and took Fluffy. "Let me make sure that I'm understanding you properly. You like me?" Aideen paused again very confused and shocked. "I'm sorry. This is just very shocking...and confusing. I mean, one minute there's this guy that you like, and he, in other words, practically tells you to bugger off; then the next minute he tells you that he DOES like you." By this point Aideen had gotten up and began pacing circles around Daniel while her mind was doing flips. She paused and looked at him. "So, you do like me, right?"
Anna-Marie scoffed. She actually hadn't been lying. Why else would she have left Tommy behind without waiting for him to respond. She reached her hand up and smacked Jake on the face. "How dare you. I was being honest...." She stated, voice shaking with anger. "After all....what should I have expected, right? I should have forgotten about you when you asked about becoming a Death Eater....." Anna-Marie said coldly, glaring at him. "After all, they only kidnapped my parents and my little brother. My seven year old brother...Plus, I just have to bend to their every whim in order to make sure they aren't tortured or killed." She added, a single tear rolling down her cheek. She was so angry right now. Why would Jake want to join Voldemort. It didn't make sense. "But go, go and join the blessed Death Eaters...." With that, she turned and stalked off, not caring if he tried to throw a curse at her. She might just see it before it came anyways. ..
Daniel watched Aideen walk away to talk to herself. And the whole time he could only think, Wow...she's a bit weird. When she was done he nodded at her question. "It's just as I said before. I do like you." The Gryffindor said plainly and truthfully. No bravery was involved, he just opened his mouth and said it, now that he was sure he wasn't going to get slapped.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jake recoiled from the smack and put a hand to his cheek as if to see if it were bleeding. He shook his head once more. "I meant you're lying about coming down with a conclusion with my earlier request. Yeah you came down to find me, but for a different reason. And I was right. You were eavesdropping. What's my life to you? Why do you care so much if I join the Death Eaters or not?" He asked despite the fact that she started to walk away.

Anna-Marie turned around in a second. What the hell!? She just said that she had wanted to go out with him. What part of that did he not understand? "I honestly came down to tell you that I would love to go out with you on Halloween...so sorry that you can't believe me..." She said, glare still intact on her face. Why did she care so much? Hell if she knew, she just did. Apparently that wasn't enough for him. "I wasn't eavesdropping. Some fourth year said you had gone into the Hospital wing. I was looking for you so I could tell you that I did want to go out with you. I had just opened the doors and that's when I heard you ask him. At first I didn't believe it was you, but it was your voice, and I saw you....If you knew what they had done to me, to my family...to other wizarding families, I would hope you wouldn't dream of joining them....but that's my luck, right? The one guy I like and actually begin to trust because he doesn't give a damn what the death eaters want ends up running to join them. Sorry, but I've had enough of His supporters....I'll be on my way..." She turned once again and stormed off, tears running down her cheeks, but she didnt' care. ..

Jake watched her storm off. He turned away sadly, and retrieved folded up paper in his pocket. Opening it, he read it over again before sighing heavily. The piece of paper was not parchment. And it had two stamped seals embedded into it. One, was the United States Department of Defense, and the other of some other origin. Pocketing it again he turned away to walk the grounds on his own and in thought. "You wouldn't understand And you never will if we lose."

Aideen couldn't believe what she was hearing. A goofy smile spread across her face. "I..I.." Aideen stammered. She paused and took a breath. "In case you couldn't tell, or didn't notice, I.." she paused again. "I...Oh! I've never been good at this kind of stuff. What I'm trying to say is that..I...I...I'm going to stop talking before I say something bloody stupid." With that, Aideen leaned in to give Daniel a kiss on the cheek.
