Amelia Frances
((It's fine. I'll do the same.))
Amelia laughed, able to now that Sparrow was fine. "Yeah, I got that one. Any spells you would suggest? Or would I not be able to pull them off yet?" She was frustrated by that stand point. Her age had never held her back from learning anything new before, be it reading 'advanced books' ((though her mother had to double check them to insure they weren't adult books)) mathematics or a new solo. She could get it, usually with just a little practice. But being told she just couldn't sucked. She wasn't sure if it was because of her lack of knowledge or just her magic source had to grow; that just made it more frustrating.

Callysto Volkova | Language Master | Head of Slytherin Callysto shook her head, then turned back to look at the new professor once more. The new woman must have noticed their gazes as she then sputtered a quick 'hello' in their direction. The half-elf nodded, "welcome to Hogwarts, Ms. Annette. I am Callysto Volkova; Language Master and Head of Slytherin house." She chuckled when the woman frantically spelled her hair to its natural color. "Your classroom should be hopping with attention in no time -- with that trick."

Olli Hufflepuff ; Fifth YearOlli smiled, but was slightly confused. 'Why wouldn't you be able to pull off a spell? I mean, some spells are for really powerful wizards only, but that means no student could pull them off. You're a Ravenclaw though! Anything a fifth-year Hufflepuff can do, I'm sure you could do too, with a bit of practice," she said, shrugging her shoulders. She was confident in Ammy; she was brilliant. 'I would try the cushioning charm, and Levicorpus only as a last resort, no matter how bad you want to," she added with a wink.

Professor Kalle Ithilwen | Vice-Captain | Care Of Magical Creatures Action | Spoken Word | Thought Kalle smiled at the new professor's lovely spectacle. She was rather impressed by the extreme lengths this woman would take to bring more students into her classroom. 'And I am Kalle Ithilwen, Professor for Care Of Magical Creatures. Very nice to meet you Annette, I am sure that you will have a few additions to your class this week,' she added with a small wave toward the newest addition to the staff table.

Amelia Frances
Amelia laughed a little, grateful for her friend's support. She didn't like the slight hit against her though, "What's wrong with Hufflepuff? So you're loyal? Isn't it true you hold parties every night in your common room?" It was one of the few rumors she believed. She knew of the cushioning charm, but she was going to have to look up Levicorpus. Her comment on it confused her, but she was sure once she tried it, she'd understand. Perhaps it was easy to cast on yourself. If not then she'd accidentally cast it on someone she didn't like.

Olli Hufflepuff ; Fifth YearOlli laughed at Ammy's comment on the Hufflepuff parties. 'Well..." she trailed off, leaning back and grinning. She was going to let Ammy keep guessing for as long as physically possible. "It's not necessarily that Hufflepuffs are bad, but we don't exactly have the best standing with the other houses. I know most people look at us as 'everyone else'."

Callysto Volkova | Language Master | Head of Slytherin Callysto scrunched her face in thought. "Ithilwen?" She asked Kalle; she'd not heard the woman speak her surname before. "That's not English... No, doesn't much sound Human in origin actually -- Faerie, maybe..." The half-elf wondered aloud.

Professor Kalle Ithilwen | Vice-Captain | Care Of Magical Creatures Action | Spoken Word | Thought Kalle noticed Callysto's confusion, and thought for a few moments before realizing that she had never mentioned her surname before in the other woman's presence. 'It is of the branch of Elvish I grew up speaking,' she explained. She wondered if it had died from the many years of it not being spoken aloud or written.

"Well, thank you, Ms. Callysto, and Ms. Kalle. I do sure hope that the students begin to arrive. I have one new addition today, which did encourage me a bit more. I think that things will be different within a few weeks." Annette smiled to the two professors, and continued to eat the food on her plate. She sure hoped the students would start arriving soon, but she would not force them to do so.

Callysto Volkova | Language Master | Head of Slytherin She blinked. Kalle was part-elf? "What branch?" She looked at the woman curiously, but with much interest. She had dearly missed her home since beginning Hogwarts eight years ago and now even more so, as she didn't have a summer break like the children -- or as long a one, rather. The celebrations! Oh, the celebrations were her favorite. Gods, how she missed them. Callysto's spirit fell slightly, suddenly overcome with home-sickness. She'd need to write her Grandmother soon, that would help.

Professor Kalle Ithilwen | Vice-Captain | Care Of Magical Creatures Action | Spoken Word | Thought Kalle cocked her head to the side. Had she really spoken with Callysto little enough for her not to know she was a half-elf? She had known that about Callysto, but she supposed she had been much more private during the past year of Hogwarts... 'Sindarin,' she said quietly, before she began to wonder what branch Callysto had lived with. Perhaps they had much more in common than she ever imagined. 'What about yourself?' she asked, her curiosity now sparked.

Callysto Volkova | Language Master | Head of Slytherin Callysto grinned wildly, though she didn't know much about the Sindarin branch -- they were not widely known -- but as a child, she'd heard many tales of the gifted Elves that were of Sindarin-stock. "I myself am of the Xelenian branch." She told the woman, beaming. Callysto was quite proud of her heritage -- apart from being of her mother's blood. The Xelenian Elves were a very celebratory-folk, they had celebrations for nearly every occasion; as well as traditions and customs other tribes found strange, but Callysto loved all of it. She wondered what Kalle's childhood years had been like. "Tell me about Sindarin." She coaxed, and she felt a warm glow in her chest, soothing her home-sickness.

Professor Kalle Ithilwen | Vice-Captain | Care Of Magical Creatures Action | Spoken Word | Thought Kalle's lips slowly parted into an eager smile. 'Only if you will tell me of Xelenian,' she said. It had been so long since anyone was even slightly interested in Sindarin, or any manner of Elves at all. She was glad she had finally found someone to share her experiences with, let alone someone to learn different Elvish customs from. She beamed; she had heard few tales of Xelenian, but those she had heard were breathtaking.

Amelia Frances
Amelia was learning patience from Olli. She had to bite her lip to keep from begging for an answer. Upon getting one Amelia frowned deeply, "The only way that makes sense is if I'm pathetic because I'm a 'mudblood.'" She looked up at her friend with deep blue eyes, "You're incredible, you know that? So what if you're not in Ravenclaw--you're the best friend I've ever had." The only real one, she silently added. Someone who didn't befriend her because she was funny or stood out in class. Someone who didn't expect her to constantly keep up an act. Hell, no one here was someone who'd actually bully her. That's why here was perfect.

Olli Hufflepuff ; Fifth YearOlli's cheeks flushed a deep scarlet. She had never had a friend who was so nice to her, let alone a friend who meant to say anything nice to her. She hadn't exactly fit in at her old school... "Thank you so much," she said quietly. "You know, you're the best friend I've ever had too?" She decided to leave out the fact that everyone, save a select few, at her old school had hated her. Even those few would leave her at the drop of a hat though.
