•○♣☼♣○• Gold like oil and other resources is used in industry and depending on the supply and demand the price per ounce changes. As a side result it's used in the stock market to turn a profit. Gold is also a highly stable investment despite being removed from a direct link to money and in such a shaky economic climate more people gravitate towards such investments thus pushing the prices higher. Also as natural resources are finite and gradually harder to extract it adds into the equation by the ever decreasing supply.

epic-writer42 Gakre Money don't bring food to the table: Producers (e.g. farmers/hunters) bring raw food to the manufacturers (e.g. slaughterhouses/factories). Manufacturers bring processed food to the stores (e.g. Coles, Woolworths). Stores allow you (e.g. the reader of this post) to bring food to your table. Money may be just middle men in all of this.  Yeah, but without it, it's actually pretty hard to convince stores to allow you to take food, without having cops knocking on your door about your recent killing spree just for a pack of bologna. Good thing they weren't get notified 'bout the bread, butter, cheese and onion as well.

Guess I'll agree with peo. Though, goat cheese is strangely 'nough among the exceptions. And I dare to claim myself to be Norwegian.
