"I've never seen that Pokémon before," Annie commented as she watched the Riolu introduce herself to her Audino.
"Me neither," said Brett, carefully watching the Fighting-type as she sat down cross-legged in front of a bowl of Pokémon food and sampled a piece. "What the heck is it?"
"Jesus Brett, think before you talk," Jack sighed, shaking his head. "It's a Riolu, obviously."
"Rio-what-now?" asked Brett, a mouthful of food, which resulted in him being cuffed in the back of the head by an annoyed Annie.
"Riolu," said a quiet voice from behind Annie. "The Emanation Pokémon and the pre-evolved form of Lucario, it has the peculiar power of being able to see emotions such as joy, and anger, in waves. It uses these waves, or Aura, to communicate with others."
Juliet, Jack, Brett and Annie all turned to stare at the tiny girl that had finally come out of hiding. "Yeah, that's… pretty much it exactly," Juliet said, instinctively reaching for her PokéDex. Everything that Claire had just said was word for word on the screen. "How did she know all that?" the blonde trainer asked, looking to Lottie. Charlotte had yet to really show her ability to read Aura, but Juliet's mother had always told her that it would come later. "She reads a lot," Jack said with a shrug. "And she has a photographic memory."
"That's incredible," said Juliet.
"No, it's annoying," Brett grumbled, taking an angry bite of his sandwich.
"Brett just doesn't like being proven wrong by a seven year-old," Jack laughed, and then promptly yelled in pain as presumably Brett had kicked him from under the table.

It was lunchtime when Jaeshan finally dragged himself into the cafeteria, silently feeding his four Pokemon before returning them all to their Pokeballs, though he had not missed the worried looks Grotle gave him before being recalled. After getting enough food for himself, he sat down in the same seat he'd been in yesterday morning before Jade had surprised him, and as he turned an apple over in his hands, he found himself smiling as he recalled that she'd been as happy to see him as he'd been to see her. Expectantly, he looked over his shoulder and around the cafeteria, but of course, there was no sign of the lovely, dark-haired girl anywhere. In fact, save for the bored-looking woman that had served him, he was entirely alone. Jaeshan sighed heavily and put his head down sideways on the table, still gripping the apple in one hand while he somehow managed to maneuver a forkful of cold scrambled eggs to his mouth with the other.
"Wow. Could you look any more depressed? Dude, you're totally bringing down the whole room," a cheerful voice rang out.
Jaeshan's gaze drifted up until he was looking at the equally-cheerful blue-haired girl that the voice belonged to, and he forced a sad smile. "I'm sorry about before," he said quietly, setting his fork on the table. "I didn't mean to get so mad. And you're right, it's not your fault and-"
"Stop," Lisa said with a sigh, plopping down in the chair next to him. She too put her head down, blinking slowly at the sad mess of a boy in front of her. "I know you didn't mean to yell at me and all, but you really should be apologizing to that newspaper box... thing. Oh, that reminds me, would you please give me your hand?"
It would turn out that Lisa's request was more of a demand as she grabbed his hand. "You really gotta stop fussing over me," he sighed, watching with disdain as Lisa had brought a bunch of tiny band-aids and a tube of ointment. "It's only a few small cuts, it's not gonna - ow! - kill me."
Lisa smiled sweetly at him. "Shut up. If you're going to hurt yourself, someone has to fix you up, but don't go making a habit of it."
It was Jaeshan's turn to smile, and he sighed. "Don't worry, I won't. I am sorry, though. For getting angry."
Lisa put the cap back on the ointment tube, and sighed as well. "Actually, maybe you should get angry," she said, smirking a bit as she put the tube into her bag. "I mean, when you're mad, you're kinda scary. Plus, I think scary-mad Jaeshan is a lot more productive than mopey-sad Jaeshan. You'll find these people eventually, and you'll find Jade. And she'll be so thrilled that her Knight in Shining Armor kept his promise and showed up to save her."

To say that Miharu's sleep had been troubled was an understatement, as the girl woke numerous times during the night, drenched in a cold sweat and quite literally shaking with fright. It was about four in the morning when she woke last, biting back her screams of terror as she did not want to disturb anyone. It was also about this time when she realized that a small, fuzzy Pokemon had invited itself into her room, and not long after had jumped up onto her bed. Miharu could only just make out the creature's features in the pale moonlight; long, roundish ears, a long, fluffy tail, soft, white (or light grey, perhaps?) fur. It showed no hesitation or fear as it crept right up to her, pausing for only a second before it made itself at home in her arms, giving a small cry of "cheeno" as it did so. Miharu felt calmer almost instantly and she allowed herself to lie back against the pillow, suddenly feeling very sleepy as she snuggled against the soft, fluffy Pokemon.
The next time the girl opened her eyes, it was light outside, and she looked around for her fuzzy, grey savior as she sat up and stretched. She had slept more than she had the night before and she felt quite rested. Her head no longer ached, and after inspecting her wound in the mirror, she was almost pleased to see that it wasn't as large or bad as she initially believed it to be, though it would leave quite a scar. She was also able to cover it with a much smaller bandage now as well, and she could now hear the sounds of life within the Juniper residence. Miharu dressed and quickly combed the tangles out of her hair, deciding to opt out of wearing her beret for now as she was indoors and wanted to be polite.
Miharu strained her ears to listen for voices as she slowly crept downstairs, the delicious smells of breakfast foods already assailing her senses. She could hear Professor Juniper's voice quite clearly, but there were a few others she didn't recognize, which made her apprehensive to go any further, despite how fiercely her stomach was now rumbling. She hadn't eaten a whole lot over the past few days, which was fairly understandable, but even her pangs of hunger were having difficulty winning out over the crippling anxiety she felt at the thought of being faced with new people. The girl sat herself down on the first landing between floors, hugging her knees to her chest. She hated feeling this way, as she'd never had to struggle with such levels of fear and worry before. She was quiet and reserved and often avoided confrontation if she could help it, yes, but she wasn't usually so dreadfully shy or timid. The girl put her head down on her knees, hating herself for feeling so weak and useless.

Jaeshan forced a weak smile at the comment and used his bandage-free hand to take a long drink of orange juice. He definitely did not feel like the knightly-type right now, as he was certain that brave knights riding in on their majestic Rapidash certainly did not allow themselves to be taken out by a single swing of a stick to the back of the head. "Maybe I should catch myself a Ponyta," he muttered to himself, prompting a quiet 'hmm?' from Lisa in return. "Nothing," he said, dismissing the thought, and he forced himself to eat a bit more of his cold breakfast before shoving the plate away. His stomach was in knots and threatening to heave everything he'd just eaten back up again.
Lisa watched him quietly for a few moments before glancing over at the clock on the wall. She wrung her hands together fretfully before reaching down beside her and pulling up a paper shopping bag. "I got you a present," she said suddenly, sliding it across the table toward Jaeshan. "Don't be afraid to tell me if you don't like it, but I know you're pretty self-conscious when it comes to your hair and all. Besides, it'll help cover up your scar," she added helpfully.
Jaeshan raised an eyebrow, looking warily from the brown paper bag to Lisa and then back at the bag again. "What is it?" he asked, but Lisa just giggled and pointed at the bag. Sighing, the blonde reached inside and pulled out the item concealed within, blinking in surprise when he saw that he was holding a hat - a stylish beret, in fact. "Oh... kay," he said, turning it over in his hands a few times. "I don't think I'm really a hat person," he admitted, but he knew by the look Lisa was giving him that she wouldn't leave him alone until he tried it on and reluctantly, he set it on his head. "I look stupid, don't I?" he asked with a sigh of defeat.
Lisa's eyes lit up and she reached out her hands to help Jaeshan adjust his new head accessory. "No, actually," she said, leaning back to admire him. "It actually makes you look quite dashing." Jaeshan had mumbled something she couldn't quite hear and he stood up to get rid of his uneaten food and return his dishes. The blue-haired girl sighed and tried not to stare at the back of his head. "So," she asked, looking around the empty cafeteria almost compulsively. "Have you considered contacting your parents yet?"

The moment that his opponent called for a Brick Break Norman know it would be over if that attack made contact. His pokemon was in no shape to take a hit, the poor thing was already hurt pretty badly and they had yet to land a single substantial hit on the Kangaskhan. "Lucky dodge it the best you can!" Norman called out, even though he was worried his pokemon might get knocked out his voice came out cool and commanding, it always gave his pokemon confidence to know their trainer was confident in themselves and their calls. The normal type gym leader watched and hoped that the land snake pokemon wasn't confused enough to not listen to him.
The result was somewhat of a hit or miss for Norman. On the plus side Lucky launched himself into the air, tiny wings beating furiously. On the down side though as soon as the Kangaskhan fell asleep Lucky seemed to get into it's tiny confused mind that falling was cool, and dive bombed face first into the ground. In the end Norman figured he came out on top of this little exchange. It also looked like that last smack seemed to knock the Dunsparce out of it's confusion as sanity returned to it's eyes. "Well, good work Dun-erm-Lucky." Norman called out, he wasn't quite used to this whole nickname thing. "How about we try for a Roost now that the Kangaskhan is having a nice little nap." Norman called out.
On the sidelines Dante was caught between wincing and laughing. Every trainer hated dealing with confusion, or sleep, or really any status effect. It was funny though to watch the Dunsparce hit itself in the face multiple times though. In the end though Dante ended up chuckling in amusement as the gym leader called for a move Keegan had used not even a half an hour ago himself. The irony was delicious.

The Steel Singer
“Tue rei ze, croa riou tue ze!” Mawile rested in a nearby tree top, singing gently to the egg that sat in her lap. Although she was a little tired after making her escape she still had enough energy to sing. That was the one good thing that had come from her previous trainer--her ability to sing. Not any Mawile could boast such a thing, but she had persevered and learned most of the human words (or at least the sound she needed to know in order to make them).
Now that she was relatively safe, she felt a little sad about sucker-punching the orange haired guy with her astonish attack, but she wasn’t about to let some unknown trainer take a magic egg that appeared out of the sky. Although he had managed to get one of the eggs, which was frustrating. There was nothing the deceiver pokemon could do about it with that perky, pink cat thing about. She suspected that it’s attacks against her would be less effective due to her type, but the Mawile also knew that the Espeon was quite a few levels ahead of her.
It had been rough the first few days after she was left behind. Mawile found herself in a strange land with no friends and unfortunately the local Pokemon didn’t take kindly to her. Luckily for Mawile, she was a steel type so most of them had very ineffective attacks against her. It was hard to get food though, since the local Pokemon had all the best spots well protected. Eventually the tan and black pokemon had decided to lull trainers to sleep and steal their food and that had worked out well enough thus far. Most of the wild pokemon avoided trainers and most trainers didn't expect to be lulled to sleep so she got into very few battles using this method.
Feeling rested enough, Mawile got up and slipped the egg protectively in her false mouth to keep it safe and warm. She’d follow that orange haired trainer and get some food and the other magic egg back at the first opportunity!

The Memory Experiment
Rajasi and Claire’s fight against coordinators Mina and Jonathan was quickly coming to a close. Kokoro’s Extrasensory was the proverbial straw-that-broke-the-Numel’s-back sending Mina’s Pansage into a nice quiet slumber. Speaking of slumber, Rajasi’s Marshtomp as also still fast asleep. Mina let out an exasperated sigh as she recalled her fallen comrade. “Looks like we’ve still got a ways to go when it comes to battling.”
“I’ll leave the rest to you.” Rajasi said tersely as he recalled his sleeping Pokemon. He was over this place and just wanted to get on with his mission. Getting the research data from the Memory Institute was taking far too long in his opinion. He had no idea why the upper brass allowed Moti to lead the mission. Sure the guy was a good enough trainer, but he let everyone take their sweet time in getting things done. Not to mention, weird stuff just seemed to happen around the guy. Like the strange singing Pokemon they had encountered before their battle.
”Looks like it’s just me and you Jon!” Claire said. “But soon it’ll just be me, Extrasensory one more time!” The messy-blonde haired girl ordered. Her Quilava snarled in agreement as she began to glow the familiar golden hue. In a matter of moments Pansear was also glowing and soon was sent flying into the air to land harshly on his rear end. Unable to get up, Jonathan conceded defeat.
“Man, you guys are just too much for us.” The dark-brown haired man said with a laugh. “Guess we’ll have to stick to contests if we ever want to see any results. Thanks for the rematch though, it was a good time.” The two smiled and with a wave they were on their way once again.
”Good job Kokoro.” Claire said as she returned the volcano pokemon back to it’s ball. Absentmindedly she felt for her neck once again only to realize that what she was feeling for was gone. She frowned, why did she keep doing that anyway? Was it something that she did before she got amnesia on a mission? Rajasi was probably right, they should hurry to this Memory Institute--she felt a bit of a headache coming on, although that could just be because Moti had stumbled out of the bushes, carrying a pink, black, and tan colored pokemon egg.

The Fiery Fibber
Moti gave a mareepish grin as his comrades spotted the egg nestled in his arms. “What?” He asked. “I can’t help it if I’m lucky and find eggs in the middle of the woods.” Rajasi rolled his eyes while Claire shook her head in response (slowly, mind you because of the headache). “How’d the fight go?”
“We managed to win. Now, can we be on our way?” Rajasi said, turning to head north toward the Memory Institute without even waiting for a response. Claire gave Moti another glance before she too, followed suit.
”At least you’re happy about the egg, right girl?” Moti asked his Espeon. She gave a soft mew in response before deciding that she had enough walking for today and promptly returned to her pokeball. “I see how it is, leave me with the ones with no sense of humor or adventure.” Moti chided as his darling disappeared in a red flash. The young adult shifted his egg to the other hand. It was pretty heavy and also seemed to wiggle every now and then which meant that it was probably close to hatching.
All those years working at his grandparents pokemon daycare/breeding center certainly had perks at times like these. It gave him a lot of useful knowledge about many pokemon, but he could definitely see the benefit in having one of those Pokedex things. ’Note to self, get a Pokedex when everything here is done.’ As much as he liked his brain’s storage ability, it did fail him from time to time. Especially with all these new regions popping up.
The rest of the walk was decidedly uneventful. Now and then Moti could swear he saw something following them, but every time he looked it was gone. Although he attempted to strike up a conversation several times, the orange-haired man found his conversation partners to be less than stellar. Rajasi was taciturn as could be while Claire was less talkative due to her lack of memories. Eventually Mag gave up and enjoyed the silence (he could do that, too, believe it or not).

The next day was far quieter than the last. No warring pokemon barred his way, so he simply ate breakfast and fed his team before setting off down the road at a light jog. Some time needed to be made up and it would help him be prepared for any unforeseen circumstances such as more wild pokemon or trainers. He was hoping for trainers to battle with so they could train more effectively.
He'd soon get his wish for just outside of Viridian city was a couple. Two picnickers had just set up for a meal, but wanted to work up an appetite. Upon seeing the red head the male approached. "Hey, the names Jack. We were wondering if you wanted to have a double battle with us if you were a trainer and had the time."
Grinning Kressen nodded happily. "Of course. I've been looking for someone to battle with!" He drew out Gigas and Mateus and tossed their pokeballs down to show he was ready. The Butterfree and Charmander looked raring to go. "Excellent!" Said Jack who called Jill over. Jack sent out a Sandshrew while Jill sent out Meowth. This would be his first Double battle, so it was bound to be interesting.

Keegan leaned back on a heel, almost wishing he'd taken a small break to head outside for a cigarette rather than press on right through to the gym leader's room, as he wasn't sure Norman would appreciate him lighting up inside. Moeder's Brick Break had missed, which was unfortunate and the redhead frowned, watching the strange Dunsparce flutter around before introducing its face to the ground. Moeder stirred a little in her sleep, both from Lucky's impact with the floor and Norman's voice, and Keegan chuckled a little at the command. He wasn't sure how hurt the Dunsparce was but Roost only healed so much, and despite the irony of the situation he watched and waited, now carefully studying Lucky's movements. All of the times he'd been forced to deal with the lazy and almost-constantly sleeping Tierra had taught him that yelling at his Pokemon to wake up was just a waste of breath. When the Kangaskhan did awaken, however, he planned to make the Dunsparce's time on the field short.

"Sandshrew use poison sting." Shouted Jack. "Meowth use scratch!" Shouted Jill in perfect unison with her boy friend. The two liked to be aggressive and keep their opponent on their toes. Kressen was just as aggressive though and had the advantage of having pokemon with superior ranged attacks. "Gigas use ember on Meowth, Mateus confusion on that poison sting!"
Gigas fired his ember off at the cat pokemon causing it to dodge out of the way. However, Matues used confusion to take control of the poison sting and sent it flying into the Meowth bowling it over. It stood up shakily on its feet looking rather green. "Ah hah! Good job, we've got the advantage now guys!"

Alright, Night Shade wasn't anything to worry about at this level of a fight. Were that Ghastly a Gengar, then things might be a little different. And by different, he of course meant a massacre.
Despite the eerie dark front that washed over him and sapped his life force, the Machop remained entirely asleep. Just in case, Brawly took out his next Pokeball and readied it. If his Pokemon didn't wake up soon, there wouldn't be much of a point to letting him sit out and get slapped around like this.
"Come on, buddy. Rise and shine!" the gym leader yelled, his tone still quite pleasant.

The remainder of breakfast was rather uneventful, for lack of a better word and Jasper was still fighting off an annoying blend of purposelessness and drowsiness. It made him feel like he really didn't want to do anything, but his lethargic mood certainly wasn't shared by one Ditto-chu, as the imitation electric type rode shotgun on its trainer's shoulder and eagerly showed its aggravation by continually giving the boy light zaps. Though he wasn't exactly ecstatic over being repeatedly electrocuted, Jasper did his best to pretend that he didn't notice it and that seemed to work pretty well until Ditto decided to kick it up a notch. The next current of electricity that was sent through his trainer's body was enough to disrupt the poor boy's nervous system and walk him right into the nearest telephone pole. "Not cool, buddy, not cool," the bandanna-clad youth grumbled, his words punctuated by the involuntary twitching of his limbs from the leftover electricity. "I gotta say though, you're really starting to pack a punch there and I'm pretty sure you could totally give a real Pikachu a run for its money these days."
The fake mouse preened at the praise and hugged the side of its trainer's face, which was still partially numb thanks to the previous electricity. Regardless, Jasper chuckled as he reached up to give Ditto a scratch behind the ears. "I mean it," he said, and the Pika-copy scrambled up onto his head. "You and I, er, us... all of us... the team? Eh, whatever. But it's official, our past life is behind us." Ditto's ears drooped and it gave a pout, warning sparks flaring up from it's cheeks. "No man, I'm serious. We don't need to do that... that stuff anymore. I'mma trainer now, and we're actually winning battles-" he'd since opted to pretend that yesterday's horrendous double battle had never happened- "and we've got potential, yeah. We're totally gonna go places."
"Oh, yer gunna go places, alright," a less than pleasant voice called out from behind the dynamic duo.
"Yeah, an' I bet that yer first stop will be the emergency room," said a second. The third voice didn't say anything, but its owner was giving a cruel-sounding chuckle.
Jasper didn't have to turn around in order to find out whom the trio voices belonged to. He felt Ditto's grip tighten on him as the Imitation Pokemon recognized them as well, and the pair shared a brief, worried look that clearly said Oh, crap. * * * * * * * * * * Both Hayley and Tisyphone watched with dismay as their rather large opponent had suddenly made itself scarce, disappearing underground in an impressive display of digging mastery. Tiss' Double Kick hadn't been as effective as Hayley would have liked either, and now, all they could do was watch and wait. The brunette then was struck with the realization that she was not worried in the slightest, for even if her Nidorina were to fall (and if that Dig attack were to hit, well, it was more than likely...) she still had Ivy, and she was more than sure the little Snivy could handle herself.
((I don't know why it took me a week to write this but it did. Ah, well.))

The boy dug his foot into the soil and raised an eyebrow as the vines began to ensare around a few of the seeds. While the Overlord Brain had managed to avoid being trapped, only one of his seeds came with him. The vines were clutching tightly around them and even though the Carnivine fell into a deep sleep, they refused to let go. Kilik clicked his tongue and waved his arm forward. "Exeggcute! You just need two! Use Barrage on Carnivine!" He crossed his arms over his chest and looked across to Georgia. While the match had just started and they both had interesting Pokemon, their attack choices were anything but. A sleeping pile of leaves vs a Psychic group of eggs that didn't know any corresponding attacks. Honestly, he felt a little embarrassed to even be there.
Certainly out of his own character, the Overlord Brain hovered up and began to fire the remaining seed at the head of the sleeping Carnivine. After the first shot, he himself tackled the opponent. The Overlord Brain shot the seed one final time before backing off. He had figured it would be more important to attack and avoid the chance of being destroyed by an angry Carnivine upon waking up. It was all brilliance.

Certainly, Leon could continue to use Licks and Night Shades and whittle away the Machop's health very, very slowly, but that was a stupid and boring idea, so Leon opted for the move he had intelligently bought for his Pokémon instead.
"Giga Drain." Though it seemed a little silly to use a health-absorbing attack whilst his Pokémon was still at full strength, that attack also happened to be the strongest move Ghos had right now. Sucker Punch was a very nice addition to his movepool, but Machop was a pure fighting type, and therefore strong against Dark-type attacks. Leon was less than pleased with this fact, but he had known all of this when he'd decided to send his Gastly up against it. They would manage. +=+=+=+=+ After a short phone call with her father, Bonnie headed back out of the Pokémon Center. He was sending her a new PokéNav ASAP. For now, though, she bought a cheap phone in case anyone (hopefully not her partner) needed to contact her.
Transferring everything over was simple enough, and soon the young woman was all set. As much as she loathed the idea, it seemed that her next course of action should be to head towards Clyde and finally rejoin her partner. The thought could have made her vomit.
Bonnie idled for a minute, and when she looked up, a younger girl with shorter brown hair was exiting the Pokémon Center. She looked familiar, and a second later Bonnie realized why; she'd seen the girl entering the gym the day before. She seemed in pretty good spirits, so there was a decent chance she'd won. As far as Bonnie knew, Surge was a very noteworthy gym leader, striking down many opponents--and brutally. That meant that the girl likely had some strong Pokémon on her team.
Perhaps it was time to do some work, after all (though she would have jumped at anything to stall meeting up with Clyde).
