Surely you know of the Grim Reaper, Death, Thanatos, El Muerte (i think that is how that one goes). He is traditionally depicted as a towering, skeletal figure cloaked in black robes and is armed with a massive scythe. His duty is to end the lives of those whose time has come. He is inescapable except in song and tale. He exists in nearly all cultures in some form. He rides on a skeletal horse, and it is most commonly referred to as the Pale Horse.
