"You'll need to do more fittings," Earendil replied, "and we'll have to get Andarien's sling ... other than that, we do need to stock up on supplies. Maybe we can get Emile and Luk to do that while you're being measured again, I'm sure they'll have much better luck than we have."

Other than that, they were only going to look around for pleasure; but with the general attitude in the city, it wasn't very pleasant.

Earendil chuckled softly, and if he weren't holding Andarien, he would have patted Miyuki on the head. "I don't know, I've never made clothes," he grinned. "You'll have to ask the tailor tomorrow. It's up to him. He's going to have to make sure they actually fit you, after all."

He'd been the subject of repeated fittings, but he'd never done it himself.

Earendil chuckled again. "Well, it's something that needs to be done. That way you get clothes that fit you properly, instead of clothes that are a bit big on you. Doesn't that sound much better?"

"It sounds good to me," Amalirahc grinned. "I don't like clothes that don't fit me right."

"Me too," River murmured.

"True," Earendil agreed. "Though I do wish it had gone better. I knew their anti-elven sentiments were bad, but I didn't think they would be quite that bad."

Up ahead, just beside the city gate, lively music could be heard: flute and guitern being played together by some black-haired, brightly clothed humans. There was a beautiful young black-haired woman dancing along to the music, and there was a hat on the ground, upside down, with a few coins inside it.

"Rovers!" Amalirahc exclaimed excitedly. "Can we watch for a bit? Please?"

Earendil just grinned at Lin. "Sounds good to me," he agreed. "Besides, we're right around the corner from the others, so if some of the children want to go back on their own I don't see it being a problem."

He also remembered back to their previous encounter with the Rovers, back on their first trip together, nearly 20 years ago. Of course, it wasn't quite as fond a memory for him as it was for her, since he had been quite jealous at the time and more than willing to leave the group, but he knew that Lin had enjoyed their encounter. And things were different now: now he would enjoy their time to the fullest.

Amalirahc grinned at Miyuki and reached for her hand. "They're like us!" he beamed, tugging her forward. "They rove the land their whole lives and never settle anywhere! They're fun, they're kind! So different from the rest of the humans!"

He led her over to the dancing girl and started clapping along in time with the music, his golden eyes shining brightly with excitement as he bounced from one foot to the other.

Earendil chuckled and put one arm around Lin's shoulders. "It's been a while, hasn't it?" he asked as they strolled forward at a leisurely pace. "Think they'll be the same ones we met before? It's only been about twenty years."

"It would be interesting," Earendil smiled.

He chuckled when the dancing girl took Amalirahc by the hands and pulled him into the dance with her. Amalirahc was having the time of his life, and though his dance wasn't nearly as graceful as the girl's (he hadn't the foggiest notion of a proper dance and was mostly just jumping around) it was clear that even the girl didn't mind that.

River giggled. "That looks like fun."

It was mostly women who were there, though the person who was playing the guitern was a middle-aged man. He had a patch over one eye and one scarred arm, but it didn't seem to deter him from playing the lively music with gusto. He was smiling just as widely as anyone else there, and he seemed pleased that Amalirahc had joined with the girl in dancing.

River wished she could put a coin in the hat, but she hadn't brought any with her.

"Maybe we could join in as well?" she suggested to Miyuki. "I don't have any money for them, I feel bad about that ..."
