It plays off the scientific probability that there are multiple dimensions that are next to are own. The ki is used to open up a rift into that dimension and draw upon dark psychic energies emanating from the Great Old Ones, great beings of unfathomable power created by cosmic horror author H.P Lovecraft. His writing was so vivid that some actually depicted his work as fact instead of fiction, and from that crazed mentality came the creation of various Cthulhu cults. The style plays off the possibility of the real life cults actually being right. So the style still has alot of roots grounded in reality, as well still being in line with the Guild Backstory. Just throw some science fiction flavor in there and wallah! You have the Dark Magic Style.

Nobody told me. emo Still, doesn't this mean people can officially make more risqué video games? I was told that since its considered art they can legitimately include more nudity or sexual material. I have my doubts about that, but its what I was told.
