"Karri, let that Clefable taste your Thunderbolt!" Mitsu called out. The area had gotten a tad darker, as it had turned out to already be a few hours past noon. The duo's wandering below Lavaridge had taken longer than either of them had expected. "Let's finish this up quick Ed. I'm starving," she said looking over to her friend. He gave a her a sort of half grin before issuing Solrock to use a Sunny Day.
The battle front grew brighter and hotter. Solrock was the source of the energy and light. It was as if it were a minature version of the real thing. "Chan! Fire Punch!" Karen shouted out taking advantage of the increased fire power. "Fable! Use Metronome again!" Lily shouted.
A blazing wave of heat shot out into the field from the Clefable's hand. A powered up Flamethrower! "How lucky!" Lily exclaimed. The attack landed a hit on Solrock, although it didn't seem to phase it one bit. Chan on the other hand raced towards Karri, fire erupting from his fist. With swift manuvering she evaded the attack and quickly retaliated with the Thunderbolt Mitsu had issue beforehand. "Solarbeam!" Edward shouted pointing at the Hitmonchan. With little to no charge time thanks to the extra sunlight that Sunny Day had provided Solrock unleaseh the golden colored beam at the agile Pokemon. "Hold him in place with a Psychic!" Mitsu commanded as the Hitmonchan had made a valiant effort of evade both attacks.
Both the Solarbeam and the super effective Psychic was enough to do him in. The attacks from before had taken much of his stamina away. "Good job Chan," Karen said holding up the Pokeball. "It's all up to you Lily!"
"Right!" she replied. "Fable! Metronome!" The small Pokemon waved her fingers back and forth, back and forth. With deadly accuracy a stunning fissure cracked in the ground and pillars of dirt, grit, and rocks shot up taking out the Psychic Pokemon. "Fissure," Mitsu sighed recalling the faithful Gardevior. "Lucky shot."
And indeed Lily and her Clefable were lucky, but all luck had to run out at some point. "Solrock! Solarbeam!" Edward shouted out once more. It would take too much to defeat the pink Pokemon now that she was weakened. "Dodge it!" Lily cried. With a sidestep, a jump, and a leap the Clefable was able to make it out of the attack alive. "Metronone!" she cried once more feeling the luck was still with her. Clefable waved her fingers back and forth until she began to glow a brilliant white color. Then an explosion blew dirt and grit at the four trainers. "I guess our luck ran out," Karen laughed. "Selfdestruct," Edward said recalling the Solrock. "How lucky on our part." The four trainers laugh before the two girls set off to thier humble home in Mauville. "Let's get to the Pokemon Center Ed," Mitsu said already leading the way.

"Be wary of Regal's Psychic attacks," was all Kasiya said to Seto. The Persian's tail slashed through the air fiercely, and the cat suddenly vanished from sight, appearing next to Regal for a split second for what could easily pass for a Faint Attack - but it wasn't. Instead, the Persian reared back and smacked Regal with his paw rather firmly, making for a rather well timed Fake Out. Kasiya smiled at this - she'd been expecting Seto to attack with something that would land a super-effective first-round strike, but causing Regal to flinch and be unable to use his Psychic powers this round would be just as good. The cat's speed put him back in his starting position, and he let out a soft hiss, baring his sharp fangs at the Slowking.

Unable to protect himself from the attack, due not only to the fact that he was too slow to, but because he was attempting to attack Seto first, Regal lost his concentration and flinched as he was attacked by the cat. A quick "Oof!" escaped from the Psychic Pokemon upon being struck; while the attack hadn't been terribly damaging, it did startle him.
"Aaah... Nina, what now?" he asked, quickly turning his head to his trainer, still keeping Seto in the corner of his eye. "Well," she replied, "Seto's probably got more physical attacks than anything else; if you can protect yourself from them, you'll do good. Let's try a Curse."
With a sharp nod, Regal turned back to face his opponent; he planted his feet firmly onto the floor, and held his arms out to his sides a little bit. Concentrating on improving his own strength and defense, a medium hue of red flashed over his body, followed by a green color; these signified that his attack and physical defensive stats had been increased. Conversely, however, a light blue color flashed over his body and disappeared; this was indicative that his own speed had fallen a bit.
He was then ready for whatever Seto had to throw at him.

"Hmm." Kasiya's gaze shifted from Regal to Seto, and then came to rest on Regal again. Cursing himself would mean he gained in his attack and defensive stats, but his speed would suffer, thus making him an easier target to hit. "Let's try your Thunderbolt!" the trainer commanded confidently. A thin smile spread across her lips; she was certain that Nina wouldn't be expecting a move like this to come from a Persian.
A low growl rumbled from Seto's throat as he focused his thoughts on generating a powerful electrical current throughout his limber body. Static crackled from the gem in his forehead and he let out a roar, causing a volley of electricity to rocket forward towards Regal.

Keegan's eyes widened at the sight of the Persian - it had been the last Pokemon he'd been expecting. "Slowking's a dual Water/Psychic type," he mused out loud. "I could have sworn she was going to send out Shocker." He watched the first attacks being exchanged, a shocked expression appearing on his face as the Persian launched a Thunderbolt towards Regal. "That would be why she sent out Seto," he laughed, turning back to Maven. "You really have to be ready for anything, no matter how the situation may look." Turning back to the battle, he made a mental note of the Fake Out move. Looks like Seto has a new lead-off move, he thought to himself, already enjoying the battle even as it had only just begun.

Maven watched as the battle started up. It was her first pokémon gym battle and it intrigued her. Maven listened to what Keegan was saying to himself and smiled. She wanted to meet this girl who was fighting. Her style was different from Trevors. "Wow. That Persian is impressive. This is my first gym battle that I've ever seen. It's coat is very shiny. Almost shimmery. I realize not the greatest word but hard to describe it anyway else. I wonder how she takes care of it. hmm...." Maven got lost in her thoughts as she pulled out a note book and started to sketch the Persian that Keegan had called Seto. She would put lines out from different areas. To indicate the parts that drew her attention; the shiny coat, the clean menacing claws, and the ears were some main points.

"Guh--what?" Nina asked, more out of confusion than shock. She mentally pondered over how to have her Pokemon react. A Normal-type Pokemon using an Electric-type move against a target who's weak against it... It won't be fatal, but it could certainly hurt. Regal can't defend against it, though, so...
"Regal! I'm sorry, but just... hold your ground!" she called out, clenching a fist at her side. While Regal obviously wasn't interested in being blasted by electricity, he had faith in Nina that she knew what he was doing. Bracing himself for the attack, the Thunderbolt blasted into him with such force that he was knocked backwards onto the ground. Feeling drained, he struggled to get up, feeling one of his leg joints locking up--
Paralysis? No! I can fight this, it only feels that way because I've fallen down.
With some effort, the pink Pokemon got to his feet, trying to shake off the damage he had received.
The lights in the Gym flickered a few times. "Now," Nina said, ignoring the aftereffects of the Thunderbolt, "use a Yawn attack, Regal! We'll show Seto how bad of a disadvantage he'll be at when he's asleep!" Nodding, the Slowking opened its mouth widely, inhaling a great deal of air, and then letting it all out in a big yawn, sending the waves of drowsiness over toward the cat.

Kilik stopped cold as he eyed the Gym. The lights inside flickered from what seemed like a very powerful electric attack. "What am I missing?" he laughed, picking up the pace from a walk to a quick strut. "Whatever it is, it must be big!" he broke into a run towards the Gym, a smirk on his lips the entire time.
However, he slowed down and stood underneath a street lamp. The boy shoved his hands into his pockets and closed his eyes. "Maybe I shouldn't go rushing in," he said, "She'd probably throw me out that instant with her 'psychic' powers." Kilik scowled. He ran a hand through his black hair and looked at the automatic door of the Saffron Gym. His reflection looked back at him, though it was very faint. The boy moved towards it, taking a step inside as it opened. He found a battle between a Slowking and a Persian taking place.
On one side was Nina and the other a girl with a green hat and outfit to compliment her blonde hair. He smiled - it was Kasiya! Two others were in the Gym as well - a boy with red hair and a young looking girl with a Vulpix. Kilik decided against going over towards the others and instead chose to lean against the wall with his arms crossed. He eyed the battle with a raised eyebrow, a light smirk across his lips.

The Haunter took a direct hit from Spinarak's poison sting and floated helplessly through the air for what couldn't have been more than a second before regaining control and coming right back at Spinarak. Haunter laughed as his right hand became engulfed in flames. Haunter launched forward with his fist cocked back, the raging flame's heat scorching the air as he tore through it in order to attack Spinarak. "Spinarak, dodge and use Leech Life again!" Haunter slammed hit flaming fist into the ground causing the leaves to burn slightly before the force of the impact caused the very same flames to die. Spinarak had just barley escaped the flaming fist and was well on her way to sinking her pincers into Haunter's body once again, but Haunter's flames did not die out with it's punch. Instead, his other hand shot up in flames as he rapidly turned and slammed his fist directly into Spinarak. Spinarak caught fire and flew through the air into a tree, her body losing the flaming coat as the hit the dirt after landing o nthe ground. "Get up Spinarak!" Spinarak slowly got up to her feet and stood wincing from the pain, but ready to go on.

No! Kasiya thought, clenching a fist as the cloud surrounded her Pokemon. "Try to fight it, Seto!"
Seto blinked a few times as a feeling of sleepiness came over him. It was in his very nature to enjoy stretching out in a nice, warm patch of sunlight and snooze the day away...no! His drooping eyes opened wide and he tried to focus, growling angrily at Regal. Through the muddled feeling in his mind he heard Kasiya issue an order for an attack, but he didn't quite hear what it was. The feline shook his head, licking his lips and letting out another roar as he generated a second blast of potent electrical energy and launched it forward. He knew from experience that his Thunderbolts sometimes had the ability to cause paralysis in his opponents, and that if Regal became paralyzed, it could level the playing field somewhat. A great yawn escaped the Persian, and his amber eyes rolled back in his head as he collapsed on the gym floor fast asleep, a few stray bolts of static leftover from his attack crackling across his body.

"Awe crap." Mag looked at Sunfire who had suddenly become much drowsier and unstable on his feet. "Get in a good Shadow Ball before it affects you!" Mag commanded knowing that Sunfire would soon be asleep in the middle of his battle. "Right!" he barked sluggishly as the dark black and purple orb of ghastly energy formed at his open mouth. Then taking careful aim at Cagomarg he shot off the attack.
The orb came in and crashed into the female Slugma without any trouble forcing her 'gelatanous' body to become a little disorganized. "Reform and hit Sunfire while he is alseep!" Linalee rallied as her pokemon pulled itself together again. Then looking at the sleeping foe she formed another rock out of quick drying magma and catapulted it directly into Sunfire. The heavy sleeping Flareon was slightly smashed but rolled in his sleep out from under the sizeable rock. Happily dreaming on about something or other.

While a state of paralysis wasn't what Regal received in his vain attempt at dodging the bolt of electricity, something worse occured-- a critical strike. Two Thunderbolts in a row, whether they be from an Electric Pokemon or not, were not easy to shake off; plus, there was the damage Regal had incurred from the earlier Fake Out attack. Fatigue began to creep over Regal's body as he perked up his ears to listen to Nina issuing a command.
"All right!" the girl cheered, "Regal, we can do it now! Let's see how well all that Cursing's paid off-- crash into Seto with a Headbutt attack!"
Aha, Regal thought, that was Nina's plan. Build up my abilities to strike Seto's own weaknesses, like he's been doing to me... Stomping on the ground, one time with each foot, the Slowking charged at his opponent (or, at least, the best that he could) with his head lowered, pointing his sharp Shellder crown at the Persian's body.

He looked out the back window of the helicopter to see the Charizard following. Joeseph crossed one leg over the other and sighed. That Omanyte fossil was found on pure dumb luck. Would he really be able to find another? It had been quite some time since his last major discovery, and that was right around the time that Janie was born.
That discovery was drastic. It really shed light onto the mystery of the Pokemon Unown. Although each was a letter, codes still need to be deciphered. Not all their codes were written in English. Ancient texts, in fantastic languages, were found in the Ruins of Alph. It took many weeks to translate the text, but it brought information upon items known only as 'The Three Relics'. There was one in each region, but where? He sighed again then pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

"Seto!" Kasiya cried fearfully. "Please! Please wake up!" Her valiant cries were unheard by Seto's peacefully sleeping form. The feline's whiskers twitched a bit, as well as his legs. It seemed he was dreaming. However, it would have to be one incredibly vivid dream in order for Seto to avoid the oncoming Headbutt from Regal. The Slowking plowed into the Persian's side, rolling the cat over several times before he came to a stop. A ring of discoloured contusions appeared in the place where Regal had hit him, and Seto cried out in his sleep, his black ears laid flat against his head. The Pokemon did not awaken, however his dangerously sharp claws were now protruding from his paws.
