*Michael regained a small portion of his composure and sat on the edge of the bed. His hands shook as they rested in his lap* I'm all alone... *He said with a sob*

*Michael went over and rested his hands on her shoulders* I know we may not always see eye to eye, but I think what we need right now more than anything is each other. I want to be your friend. I want you to feel like you have someone you can rely on. Please give me a chance... *He spoke softly as a tear rolled down his cheek*

*Michael stepped back to give her some space* I see. But should you ever need a shoulder to cry on, or someone to talk to, I won't be far away. You can count on me. *He turned and headed out the door and downstairs*

*Faith stared out the window of the train as the scenery whipped past. She drank two vials of wolfsbane when the sun began to set. Before long she was asleep, but awakened by the loud screeching of brakes and the strong lurch as the train came to a sudden stop. She jumped up and looked around, pulling her wand from her coat and stepping out into the hallway. She quietly made her way along the car, searching for any signs of danger. One of the conductors came back*

Sorry about that lass, but the train seemed to stop all on its own. We should be up and going here shortly.

Okay, thank you. *She turned and went back to her car and sat down. It was then she noticed a sparkling orb lying on the floor* That wasn't here a minute ago... *She reached down and picked it up. There was a bright flash of light and she found herself standing in the middle of what looked like a rundown lighthouse. Her wolf senses told her that something wasn't right. She looked at the orb in her hand* A port key?

Precisely.

*She spun around and was face to face with Voldemort himself* Voldemort. *The name dripped off her lip like snake venom* What do you want?

I have come to offer you a tremendous proposition my dear. Your uncle Lucius was kind enough to tell me of your unique abilities and I found them to be rather fascinating.

Cut the bullshit pleasantries and tell me what the hell you want.

To put it simply: I want you to join us.

*Faith barked out a laugh* Fat chance in hell that will ever happen!

Those who dare to defy me are those that wind up dead.

Then it looks like I'm defying you then, because I sure as hell am not joining your little cult.

Very well. Normally, I just kill people. But I'm willing to make an exception. Seeing how you are a worthy opponent I suggest a duel. The rules are quite simple: I win and you die, you win and you go freely. However, if you refuse my challenge I'll just kill you right now. You being a Malfoy, I doubt that will happen...

*Faith thought it over. He did have a point. It was rare that a Malfoy ever backed down from a challenge. If she were to die, then at least she'd go out fighting* I accept. *She drew her wand and stepped back a few paces and bowed before casting her first charm*

Voldemort blocked the spell and countered with his own, striking the girl in the forearm with a powerful blast*

*Faith clutched her arm, dropping both her wand and the orb. A large smoldering burn adorned her flesh. She looked up and saw that Voldemort was preparing to cast his killing spell* I've only got one chance...

*Voldemort raised his wand* Avada...

*Faith dove, seizing both her wand and the orb. There was another bright flash and she was back on the train, which was moving once again. She went to the bathroom to wash and bandage her arm then back to the car to sleep for the remainder of the trip*

*Michael sat in front of the fireplace petting the black cat that lay curled up in his lap. He sighed sadly before getting up and going to McKenzie's room. He knocked softly before easing the door open a crack* Hey, is it okay if I come in? Or do you still wish to be left alone?

*Michael walked in and shut the door quietly behind him, then sat down on the bed across from McKenzie* I know it would be stupid for me to ask how you're dealing with all this, so I won't. You're not the only one she walked away from. She probably just wants to sort things out with herself first.

*Michael sighed* You still have me. I know you may not like me, but I can be the most loyal person you could ever have as a friend. My mom used to tell others that if they had me as a friend, they had one for life. I just want you to know that you can depend on my if you need a friend. But I know you most likely are not even close to trusting, let alone liking me yet... *He got up and slowly headed for the door*

*Michael turned to look at her* Self-esteem problem? I don't have a self-esteem problem. Not to be rude, but you don't exactly treat me very nicely. I try to offer you comfort and support in your times of need and you shut me out. Maybe you should break down that wall you put up to protect yourself, you may just be surpirsed at what's on the other side. If you don't then you will indeed be alone... *He turned and walked out*
