A Vanquisher is a waste if she's not BS 4. You need to have those shots hit home more then 50% of the time. Either drop an Exterminator and shave off a heck lot of upgrades, or dump the Demolisher.

How many points are we talking here? What are the restrictions? What's the time window? Objectives?

What you can do or actually should do is giving at least one vehicle improved comms, seeing as your troops will be dropping in, so re-rolls will be an important option. Heavy bolters or missile launchers for the squads may also be a viable option, giving you more fire power. In a 1.500 pts. game I always try to field two platoons laden with heavy and assault weapons, I'll dig it up as an example.

I see you got a whole new list, I'll study it for a moment.

That's one way of doing it, though two should be enough. Drop one of the three and use it for some goodies. I'm not sure on the points of improved comms, but pintle-mounted storm bolters for both Exterminators is a nice gift.

arrgh its the same points as 2 power weapons ..hint.. ..hint.. and I was under the impression that you were a Hvy Stubber fan
PostPosted: Thu May 25, 2006 2:21 pm

Dang, I always stick to certain upgrades, shows that I don't know them all by heart. A storm bolter is good, as are some other things, bolt pistols for certain characters, carapce for the senior officer or bionics.

I love stubbers, but storm bolters are a little cheaper. Stubbers are my love affair though, where possible I slot them on my own tanks. I mean, it's better then the storm bolter when it comes to strength and shots.

well those 6 extra point im spending on my Stubber is already factored in as set thing in the list. When I subtracked the demolishers points I left the stubbers points in.

Ok with two sets of Improved Comms that leaves 10 points to throw in goodies Ill drop Carapace on the command. Or maybe a Medalion Crimson as he is packing a powerfist we want him to live to use it

(For the price of one improved comms you can get four power weapons - power of the codex)

One thing I'd like to point out is that the officer with the power fist is an independant character, thus he can be singled out in close combat. He strikes last and is singled out, so he wont last long sadly. Something to think of in the future is to give him a power weapon and throw in a commissar who carries the power fist and isn't an independant character. it's something veteran Guard players call the hidden power fist, as it can't be singled out in close combat. Win-win situation really.

A Medallion Crimson may be a bit of a waste on a two wound model though, but that's my thought.
