Keegan watched, somewhat amazed as the odd little Pokemon was sent hurtling through the air. He really, really needed to start battling with Moeder more as he often forgot just how powerful the Kangaskhan was. The redhead could see something was wrong with the Dunsparce as it landed on the ground and he could hardly believe his luck - the thing was confused, especially judging by the way the funny pink Pokemon smacked itself in the face and then proceeded to look back at Norman for praise. Holy hell, the redhead thought, keeping his demeanor calm. He'd struggled through his own Pokemon's confusion before and he knew it was not fun to deal with. Time to capitalize before Moeder takes a nap... He straightened up a little. "Moeder, one more hard hit!" he called out to the very-sleep Normal-type. "Brick Break!" The roar given by the Parent Pokemon was a bit strained as she charged, swinging a powerful, glowing fist around at the confused Lucky before dropping to the ground, sound asleep.

The sun was setting and he was still two hours away from Virdian city. It would be to dark to travel safely and he was exhausted from the days events regardless. With a tired sigh the red headed giant sat down on a stump and pulled out his sleeping bag and the bowls for his pokemon. As quickly as his tired arms could manage he poured them all some food and called the out once more to eat.
The quartet of pokemon dug in, scarfing their meals before flopping down just as tired as their trainer. "Haha, I feel you guys. Let's just pass out and head out tomorrow. Then we'll get more training done and be read for Pewter city once we're all done." He recalled the lot of them and simply laid down on the sleeping bag and passed out.

They took her to the largest room in the facility, one often used for traditional ceremonies. While she thought there were plenty of people in this room at her first rite of passage, when she received her Eevee, it now seemed crammed full of every member under the sun. The entire room was filled with either colorful kimonos or drab robes -- the only people not wearing either were herself and another woman, an unassuming middle-aged woman who wore her own robes of choice, which were dark blue in color. Jade wondered who she was. Once the three of them entered the room, whatever chatter there was ceased immediately, and the silence that followed made the dark-haired girl's ears ring.
"Everyone, please be seated." It was Eri's voice that rang out from the crowd, driving everyone to action. They filed to the seats lining the room, even the woman in blue, eyes all set upon Jade still standing in the center. Sora and Ren flanked her, but it was unnecessary; the piercing gaze of her former mentor held her there. As hard as she looked, she could find no trace of sympathy, no hint of friendliness. Oh, Jade thought then, suddenly understanding. She's my judge. After leaving Jaeshan in the woods like that, she thought it impossible to be hurt any worse; that was why the pain she felt then was all the sharper. The woman's voice was colder than the girl remembered. "Kyoko Tanaka, you have been returned to the Kimono Dance Theatre to continue your duties as a sworn member of our order, as well as to face the consequences of your actions. There will be no trial, for this was an unquestionable act of treason. What you have done has jeopardized everything we stand for and everything we protect. Any information you might have divulged to anyone in Sinnoh has put us all at risk. Any personal connections made must be tethered and handled accordingly." The pause after that tightened like a noose around Jade's neck. Before she could reply, Ren squeezed her arm harshly and stepped forward.
"You will not have to worry about that," she said calmly, her expression unreadable. "In the short time that we tracked Kyoko, she was completely alone. She seemed perfectly quiet and reserved during any passing interactions. At the risk of making assumptions, I doubt that she made any lasting connections during those few days when we weren't aware of her presence." Even though they had made an agreement, Jade was slightly surprised that Ren carried out its terms; it was a struggle to keep the surprise off of her face. "Isn't that right, Sora?" After a moment's pause, the blonde girl answered the affirmative, making a point of looking Eri in the eye, as if to prove that she wasn't lying.
"Very well," Eri finally murmured, inclining her head. "Thank you both very much for what you have done. You are dismissed." Apparently, both of them were surprised, as they didn't immediately retract from Jade's side. With some show of reluctance, particularly on Sora's part, they took their seats, leaving Jade unattended. Not that it mattered; she knew that if she took so much as a step out of line, she would be stopped without any difficulty. "It has been a lengthy discussion, what we are to do with you upon your return, Kyoko. As a student, you've shown great promise and as a trainer, you've shown great skill. You have sworn a vow, and it is not so lightly broken. However, we have seen fit to come to terms with you. Give up what you have collected in Sinnoh -- any money, badges, items, or Pokemon that you have gotten in that time. We will keep your Pokemon safe, for the time being. We will allow you to resume your training immediately and, once your Eevee is ready to evolve and you are ready to become a full-fledged member, we will allow you to personally release your Pokemon into the wild. We could release them immediately, if you like, but we thought it best if there was an opportunity for you to come to terms with it. Closure is a privilege, Kyoko." Her hands had begun to tremble at her sides; she willed them to stop, took slow, deep breaths through her nose. She was not weak. She was not weak. Her jaw tightened. Her struggle to remain calm was apparent. Eri's gaze never wavered, never thawed. "We cannot simply let you leave. Years ago, we might have, but you made a promise. You need to keep it, or face consequences even more severe than the ones you face now. We can release your Pokemon this instant. We can keep you from training for years, if need be. Think carefully. You can only choose once." What choice is there? the dark-haired girl wondered, and tears sprang to her eyes. She squeezed them shut, bowing her head and letting her hair make a curtain on either side of her face. Don't let them see you like this. Be strong. For Solaris, for Aquarius, for Cirrus, for Chloris. For Jaeshan, be strong. Jade grit her teeth, biting back any noise. For yourself. It was no question, what she had to do. After only a few moments of hiding her face, she lifted her head up, cheeks dry of tears. It had been Jade who closed her eyes, but it had to be Kyoko who opened them again. That was the choice she had made.
"I understand," Kyoko said, her voice even. She looked Eri in the eyes, masking any hurt or betrayal she felt. She wanted to feel nothing at all for the other woman, but it was undeniable, how she longed for her comfort, for her approval. "I'll continue my training immediately." Even though she had chosen to live, to fight again another day, it still felt like giving up. "Thank you, for the generosity and for the mercy you have shown me." She made herself smile, but it came easier than she'd imagined. For deep in the ocean of despair, Kyoko felt the hard, unyielding grip of anger. Be strong, it told her, and it grounded her like an anchor. Grow even stronger. So that way, when you leave here again, you'll make them regret ever bringing you back in the first place. That was the only promise Kyoko intended to keep.

Kasiya's eyes were still filled with stars as she repeated Digger's performance in her mind, also drawing back to the contest she'd watched on TV at the Fortree City Pokemon Center a few nights ago. She was definitely becoming more and more interested in trying them out for herself and she made a mental note to find out when the next contest was and where it would be taking place. Perhaps she'd enter and show everyone what she and her wonderful Pokemon were capable of!
While the blonde was off, getting lost in her thoughts, Digger watched closely as his opponent utilized a Rapid Spin of its own, flexing his claws slowly. His eyes narrowed as the Torkoal was suddenly rocketing toward him. The Ground-type darted off to the side, jumping and Curling into a tight, Defensive ball, able to feel the rush of heat pass by behind him. Luckily this series of short events had managed to get Kasiya's attention back on the battle, and she grinned, still clapping. Her own Pokemon were generally fairly resourceful, a fact that she was really quite grateful for.
=-=-=-=-= Lisa only had to glance quickly at the image on Jaeshan's PokeDex to confirm it, and she sighed, nodding as she handed the device back to the blond. "Yeah, this is it," she said. "Leafeon. This is the Pokemon I saw with the kimono-wearing women last night." The blue-haired girl paused, watching Jae as he stared at the screen, face screwed up in thought. "Why? Do you think they're the ones that attacked you?" she asked, wringing her hands together nervously.
The boy sighed, and closed his PokeDex. "Maybe. I'm not sure. But I saw that Pokemon, too. Just before I lost consciousness. It's an evolved form of Eevee and those aren't exactly common so... Yeah. I think it's the same Leafeon," he said, leaning back against the pillow and sighing. His head was still pounding, but it wasn't coming close to rivaling the growing ache in his chest. He looked around the boring, white room, a frown now spreading across his face. "I've got to get out of here," he said, throwing the thin blanket off and swinging his legs over the right side of the bed before he stood up, albeit shakily. He was thankful that the nursing staff hadn't put him in one of those awful hospital gowns (and he realized he probably should have checked that first, lest he give Lisa a show), and he looked at the IV in the back of his right hand, wondering if he should try and take it out or not.
"I wouldn't," said a voice from the doorway, and Jaeshan looked up to see a man in a white doctor's coat watching him, a bit of a grin on his face. He was a middle-aged man, wisps of grey starting at his temples and speckling his otherwise dark hair. He held a clipboard under one arm, and he glanced back and forth between Jaeshan and Lisa a few times before entering the small room. He nodded to the tube extending from the boy's hand up to the saline bag. "It's more that it can be quite messy," he said, still smirking. "I'll send the nurse to take that out for you. I'm Dr Freedman, by the way."
"Does that mean I can leave now?" Jaeshan asked, unable to mask the desperation in his voice. "I mean, I'm okay, right? Just a bump on the head?"
The doctor smiled kindly. "More or less. We did several tests and scans just to be sure, and they've all come back normal - not even a concussion. You're a pretty lucky kid, Jaeshan."
The blond scoffed and exchanged a knowing look with Lisa. Some would argue that he really was quite lucky, as even he was fairly certain that his odds of survival out there in the water hadn't been great, but once again Jaeshan thought of Jade. No, he felt just the opposite of lucky right now. "Can I go now?" he asked again, his voice taking on a decidedly dejected tone. "If I'm all right, can I just leave? I hate hospitals and doctors. No offense," he added, looking Dr Freedman in the eye.
Dr Freedman laughed. "None taken. But yes, I suppose that means you can be discharged. How's your pain level? Any vision troubles? Dizziness? Nausea?"
Jaeshan shook his head. "No, nothing like that," he said. "It hurts a bit, but it's nothing I can't handle."
"Fair enough. I will advise you to take it easy, though. And, if you have any of the symptoms I just mentioned or any other concerns, please, don't hesitate to come back."
=-=-=-=-= Erika felt a twinge of panic course through her as as she heard Riza give the command for a Flame Wheel, and through the smoke she could see the fire-cloaked Quilava streaking toward her dear Ivysaur. "Brace yourself, and counter with Sludge Bomb immediately," the Gym Leader called out, managing to keep her voice sounding strong despite her intense dislike of fire. Ivysaur's shrieks of pain were difficult to listen to, and she knew her Pokemon had sustained serious damage from the attack. Ivysaur wasn't through yet, however, as the bud on its back turned a sinister shade of violet before spewing a large blob of toxic sludge at the Fire-type.

Kilik started to pedal as fast as he could, but the jock had already gotten a massive head start. It appeared that biking uphill was nothing for Dirk. The boy clicked his tongue and moved uphill as best as he could manage. Cable dashed at what seemed to be a leisurely pace for him, glancing over at his trainer. "So I...can't call..." he huffed as he went up the hill, "an attack unless...I stop?" he gripped the brake of his bike and panted heavily, pointing up. The trainer and his Dodrio were already halfway up. If he wanted to catch up, he'd have to command Cable to attack. "Okay! Use your Electro Ball!"
A grin of delight unfurled across the Electivire's face as he charged up a ball of electricity between his hands. He ran forward and thrust it out of his palm, aimed directly for the three headed bird way ahead of him. As soon as the ball left his hands, Kilik began to pedal once more with gusto. Hopefully, he would manage to regain the precious ground lost.
"Chya, brah." Dirk laughed, turning to look over his shoulder. He gripped the handbrake and swerved around to see the action. "Dahdruo, use like...yah Trah Ahttahk." As the bird took the damage from the Electro Ball, each head began charging its own particular element. Ice formed in the mouth of the middle head, with fire and electricity crackling in the beaks of the left and right. Suddenly, they fired forward and then sprinted away with Dirk up the hill. The finish line was in sight!
"This is...preposterous!" Kilik groaned, pedaling harder. Dirk was much faster, much more capable of dealing with the uphill grind on his bike. When Dirk reached the top, Kilik felt his heart sink. Cable had done a wonderful job avoiding the Tri-Attack but it didn't matter. The battle was already lost. It hadn't been more than two minutes! Dirk was already at the top of the hill. Gritting his teeth, the boy went the remaining distance and then stopped on the flat road that lead into the checkpoint station. Sweat was dripping down the side of his face and he was incredibly winded. "So...you win. You're..." Kilik slumped forward on his handlebars and held up a finger. "Fast. That doesn't...mean you're a better trainer though."
Dirk leaned back on his chair with his arms crossing, looking down at his nails with a bored expression painted on his face. Then a half smile. "Ya think that?" he tossed his hair and nodded towards his Dodrio. "Then hows about a real battle, brah?" Dirk shrugged, "Babes still crawlin' for mah. Look at ya. Barely like...biked and yah all winded."
Kilik jumped off his bike, causing it to fall to the ground with a loud clatter. "Look, buddy! My Electivire is going to wipe the floor with your Dodrio! That's just common sense!" And when you thought about it, it was. Electric-types always beat Flying-types. It was theoretically impossible for Flying Pokemon to win without some sort of condition. For instance, they're part Ground or have an ability that sucks up Electricity. "But there's no way your three headed bird is going to beat Cable!" The Electivire nodded in agreement, slamming his fist together with a dazzling display of strength. Lightning crackled and there was a loud boom of thunder.
"Flashy brah," the man shrugged, not stepping off his bike. "But whatevs. I'll beat yah, nooo prah." He pointed forward and without speaking a word, the Dodrio fired off another Tri-Attack in Cable's direction.

Cable crashed against the ground hard, causing Kilik to throw his arms up defensively. "Hey, that was underhanded!" he barked, turning to face Dirk. He felt a massive hand on his shoulder as if to calm him and he turned to see the Electivire grinning at him. "Get 'im." Kilik nodded, swinging his arm forward. "Thunderpunch!"
Cable held his fist up into the air, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. A lightning bolt shot down from the heavens and struck his hand, which he then focused into a tangible force. As the electricity flowed around his fist, Cable dashed forward and crashed with full force into the three headed opponent, repeatedly pounding his fist into its ribs
For the first time since Kilik met him, Dirk looked shaken. He lifted his head up a little and shared his grim look with the rest of the world. "Dahdruo!" he cried out. The bird managed to struggle free from his opponents death grip and took a few steps back, panting heavily from all three heads. "Use like..." he was at a loss. This had never happened to him before. He was starting to lose his cool. He ran his fingers through his hair and held the side of his head. A single Tri-Attack was more than enough to take out mostly anyone who came by. Much less two! But...what was he going to do. His other hand found its way to his head and he grit his teeth. "Whateva! Use whateva!"
Kilik crossed his arms over his chest and smirked, shaking his head. "You don't even know his other attacks, do you?" the boy dropped his arms to his side. Cable dodged the Fury Attack with ease, slamming another Thunderpunch into the gut of the Dodrio. The bird crumpled to the ground and didn't move. The battle was over. "So you're fast. You bike fast," Kilik laughed and recalled Cable into his ball, tucking it onto his belt, "and you lose fast." He picked up his bike and hopped back on. "Maybe if you focused on your Pokemon, instead of on yourself, you could do a little bit better." He took one last look at Dirk, who had fallen off his bike and was practically foaming at the mouth, and he rode on through the checkpoint into Eterna City. The boy was almost floored with the lovely scents of the city. A bit of a ways off, he could see the statue of a very large Pokemon. A low whistle escaped him.
"There's the Gym!" he pointed as he biked past it. He couldn't wait any longer. He skid to a halt and tucked the bike back into his bag. The Pokemon he'd be using to face off against Gardenia were fully healed as it were. Stopping by the Pokemon Center would just be a distraction. Kilik clenched his fist and took a deep breath. It had been quite some time since his last Gym battle, he had almost forgotten how difficult it could end up being. The door slid open and he took a step inside. "Hello?" he called out. The Gym was positively...green. "My name is Kilik, from Verdanturf Town! I'm looking for Gardenia, the Gym Leader!" He put his hands by his sides and waited. It might be a moment.

The remainder of Jasper's evening was spent doing some mild training (and refereeing the fight between Croconaw and Koffing over which of them got to eat the now-useless TM discs) before he brought the lot of them back into the Pokemon Center to get them all healed. The lobby was empty save for an elderly man and his grandson and a pair of trainers that appeared to be Jasper's age - the boy's aptitude for eavesdropping and lipreading allowed him to quickly learn that the grandson's loyal Growlithe had recently become ill and had been here at the Center for the past three days. The other two trainers, both boys, appeared to be waiting for someone but Jasper didn't get much else from them.
The bandanna-clad boy jumped a mile when the nurse tapped his shoulder to return his fully-healed Pokemon to him, and he muttered his thanks as he collected them and rushed off to the cafeteria, able to hear the pink-haired woman uttering something about paranoid kids before he was out of earshot. Dinner passed by without incident, and by then it was rather late. Jasper had considered doing some more training before bed but decided against it. He'd had a long and eventful day as it was, and he was looking forward to getting to sleep. He didn't bother to get himself a room and instead just found an empty couch to crash on.
The sun was only just rising when he opened his eyes the next morning and it took Jasper a few moments to remember where he was and what he'd been doing. Still very much half-asleep, he trudged to the restrooms and had a quick, cool shower to wake himself up. Now that he was back home in Goldenrod (if he could even really call it home), he wasn't quite sure what to do. At breakfast, he overheard that the boy-crazy gym leader, Whitney, wasn't at the gym but someone had taken over for her in her absence, but even still, Jasper wasn't sure he was ready for that gym. Besides that, he still needed to head back to Azalea. The bandanna-clad boy stared lazily into his coffee cup as his Pokemon squabbled over who got to eat the last bit of food, ignoring the annoyed looks and shouts he was receiving from the other patrons of the center's cafeteria. Maybe he'd go back through the forest today - perhaps he'd meet up with his energetic traveling companions from before. * * * * * * * * * * Hayley looked on with amazement as Brock's Onix swatted away Tisyphone's Poison Sting like it were nothing. The Nidorina's response was the opposite of her trainer's, and she growled loudly. The brunette smiled, also quite impressed with Tiss' change in attitude. "That's okay, Tiss! We've got this!" she called. "Go ahead and give that big 'ole rock snake a Double Kick!"
Tisyphone's growl grew louder as she rushed at the much larger Pokemon, jumping up in an attempt to land two fierce kicks to the rock type's body. Hayley watched carefully, not sure how much more her Nidorina could take.

Riza sighed a bit, looking on as the smoke had already started to clear. She heard Erika give the command for a Sludge Bomb and her eyes narrowed. Eris' Flame Wheel had hit hard and the raven haired girl sighed, clearly disappointed that the Ivysaur had gotten back up again. "I don't think so," she mumbled to herself. "Eris, escape it! Use Dig!" Eris gave a yelp as she didn't like the look of that sludge and she quickly turned and started to burrow her way underground. The Sludge Bomb made partial contact with her hindquarters and she cried out again before vanishing completely underground. Riza grit her teeth, hoping that Eris hadn't been poisoned by the attack. * * * * * "Hah, look at that Reg, little girl thinks she's tough!" Roscoe laughed, folding his arms over his chest.
Reggie scoffed and tossed out a red and black ball of his own. From this one came a large bat like Pokemon, and it gave a screech, flapping its wings fiercely as it glared at Katie and Kord. "Let's see just how tough she is," Reggie said with a smirk.
Katie's eyes narrowed and quickly she grabbed a second poke ball from her belt and let it fly. Her tan coloured Staravia appeared in a flash of light and small shower of sparkles and she crowed loudly, giving both Roscoe's Scizor and Reggie's Golbat pause, her Intimidate ability in action! "I think we're about to see just how tough you two are," Katie said tauntingly. "I'm sure being beaten up by a little girl will be really good for your egos. Kord, Thunderpunch on Scizor! Noa, Aerial Ace on Golbat, go!"
"Golbat, fight back with Wing Attack!" Reggie yelled.
"Scizor, you use Bullet Punch!" shouted Roscoe.
The red mantis like Pokemon raced forward, claw outstretched and glowing brightly as it met head on with Kord. The Electabuzz, meanwhile, had beat his fists against his chest, electricity rippling over his muscular arms before he'd charged at the Scizor as well, electricity flaring from his fist. The two Pokemon swung at each other while trying to use their other, free arm to stop the other Pokemon's punch from getting through. Katie could see at a glance that the Scizor appeared to have the upperhand, at least for now. The two flying-types, meanwhile, clashed in the air, wings and claws and feathers flying as both the Staravia's and Golbat's attacks hit home. * * * * * That Nidorina was tough, that was quite obvious, and Brock smiled as the bluish Pokemon rushed in for her attack. "Brace yourself, Onix!" the gym leader shouted. "Take the hit, and then use Dig!" Onix gave a roar, hunkering down as Tisyphone closed in on it. It growled slightly from the pair of strong kicks but was still quite able to battle. Another deep, gravelly roar escaped its throat before the massive rock-type slammed its head into the ground, whole body wriggling and thrashing before it disappeared into the floor, leaving a large pile of overturned rocks and dirt in its wake.

It took longer than Jaeshan liked for his discharge papers to be delivered and he signed them slowly, having to actually stop and consider the spelling of his name. Eventually he opted to just sign 'J. Devereaux' but it was so illegible that no one would be able to tell that he'd forgotten how to spell his own last name. Gotta work on that, he thought miserably as he and Lisa picked up his prescription from the pharmacy downstairs, though it was nothing fancy, just a bottle of extra-strength Advil for his lingering headaches.
"You should have told the doctor about your amnesia," Lisa said as they were now making their way back to the Pokemon Center, as Jaeshan's Pokemon still hadn't been healed after the training excursion the night before. "I mean, he might have been able to help or something."
Jaeshan scoffed. "Yeah, if by 'help' you mean a psych consult and a one-way ticket to the loony bin. No. Thanks," he said, punctuating the last words to emphasize his point. "Besides, all I wanna do right now is get my Pokemon healed, take a shower and get something to eat. And after that, I'm going to track down Jade, and I'm gonna save her. I promised her that I'd keep her safe, and I intend to keep that promise, no matter what."
Lisa's gaze fell to the pavement, and she sighed. "You're not crazy. Though, you might not wanna mention that you think your girlfriend might have been taken by weird women wearing kimonos. That part might not go over very well. I'm kidding, geez. Lighten up, Jae," she added as the blond had given her a very dark look.
"Lighten up? Are you serious?" Jaeshan had stopped walking, and he turned to face the blue-haired girl, a very-rare expression of anger on his face. "How can I lighten up when I don't have the faintest clue where Jade is right now? How can I lighten up when all I can think about is how scared and lonely and.. and disappointed she might be? Tell me, Lisa, since you seem to know everything. Just how am I supposed to lighten up, huh? Go ahead and tell me, 'cause I can't wait to hear it!!" He'd spun around and there was a shattering sound. The blond's anger subsided as he realized he'd just put his hand through the glass door of a newspaper dispenser and once again he was bleeding.
Jaeshan's anger was both unexpected and somewhat scary, and watching him put his fist through glass didn't make Lisa feel any better. "I'm just trying to help you, Jaeshan," she said quietly, the hurt obvious on her face. "Don't take it out on me, because the last time I checked, you're running dangerously low on friends." With a huff, the blue-haired girl turned and walked off, in the opposite direction of the Pokemon Center, leaving Jaeshan all alone again.
=-=-=-=-= Ooh, a challenger! Georgia thought, jumping to her feet. Facing challengers that wanted to see Gardenia was decidedly more interesting than weeding and watering all of these flower beds. The pretty, auburn-haired girl brushed her hands against her jean shorts and adjusted her pale green tank top before she made her presence known; practically jumping out from behind a tree as she waved at the dark-haired boy. "Oh, tall," she observed, still smiling as she studied Kilik. "Gardenia's.... around here somewhere buuuuut.... if you wanna find her, you're going to have to battle me first, 'kay?" Her tone was pleasant as she held up a Pokeball that had been painted camouflage. "How's about two each?" she added as she tossed it out, revealing an obvious Grass-type with a rather large head, long, sharp fangs protruding from every inch of its mouth. Its whole body was long and slender, with two thicker, arm-like leaves extending from under its large head and roundish, yellow abdomen - most Sinnoh natives would probably recognize the Carnivine on sight. "Whenever you're ready!" she called, but then stopped herself. "Oh yeah, where are my manners? My name's Georgia! Nice to meetcha, Tall-Guy!"
=-=-=-=-= Erika watched with dismay as her Ivysaur's Sludge Bomb made only a partial hit on the quickly retreating Quilava; that little Fire-type certainly was a speedy one. In the blink of an eye, Eris was hidden deep beneath the gym's soft earth, and the Nature-Loving Princess sighed. Not much could be done but wait. "Ivysaur, darling, use Growth again," she called finally. She was fairly certain that her dear Ivysaur wouldn't be winning this round, but hopefully he could leave the Quilava with some parting damage and make it easier for her next Pokemon to take down. Ivysaur gave a growl and pawed the ground, a greenish-glow covering his body as it gave the illusion he'd grown before shrinking back to normal. Either way, Ivysaur wasn't going down without a fight!

Kilik had slid his hands into his pockets and had started aimlessly walking amongst the bushes before a girl suddenly jumped out from no where. He flinched a bit, surprised to see someone so soon. He had figured the Gyms in Sinnoh were like the ones back home - you had to battle a couple of underlings in order to get to the big prize herself. Kilik's spirits lifted when she offered to help him find Gardenia, and when the condition was to win a Pokemon battle, he nodded in agreement. "Fine by me!" He hopped back and snatched a ball from his belt, tapping the button to enlarge it. When the girl sent out her first Pokemon, he was slightly surprised by its appearance. "What in the...?" he lowered his Pokeball and stood up a little straighter, taking his Pokedex out from his pouch and holding it up to the strange plant.
"Carnivine, the Bug Catcher Pokemon. Using its tentacles to lash itself to trees, it lies in wait for prey, luring it close with sweet-smelling drool. It can take a whole day to devour its prey."
He then took note that it had the ability Levitate. How bizarre. Putting the red device away, he changed his mind on his Pokemon choice. Using Monferno would give me the type advantage...but I'm not quite sure how this Pokemon fights. I'd better play it safe and use someone a little stronger. "What an interesting Pokemon, Georgia!" he replied, "My name is Kilik, but Tall-Guy is an acceptable nickname!" He threw the ball forward and revealed his newly acquired Exeggcute.
The seeds emerged in the familiar flash of white. The center egg stood tall with the other five floating around him like some sort of protective barrier. I have arrived to do battle with you, the Overlord Brain spoke to his fellow Grass-type. Kilik, what is your order?
"Let's start things off with...!" he paused and scratched the back of his head. He had only gone over his Exeggcute's moves once. A quick flash study of his Pokedex revealed everything he needed to know. "Hypnosis!"
And with that, the Overlord Brain's eyes began to glow bright blue, along with the eyes of all his fellow seeds. Slumber awaits you, my brother. Fall in...slowly...let sleep take hold... he whispered into the Carnivine's mind as blue waves began to fly towards his opponent.
I hope this was a good idea, Kilik thought, looking up at Georgia.

Giovanni arrived at his Viridian Gym, scowling at the damage done. Although the video Kasiya had left him certainly didn't phase him, seeing the true scale of the damage did. He clenched his fist and grit his teeth. A seething hatred began to boil in his stomach. It didn't matter much. The girl, and all of her friends, would eventually pay for what they'd done. To his base, to his organization, and to his glorious ego. He had sent a clean up crew ahead of him on his way back from Sinnoh to repair most of the damages but it was all still very unfinished. The Gym was closed off to all challengers. Those looking to receive their 8th badge would have to look elsewhere, though it was very rare for Giovanni to receive any challenges. Many trainers opted out of the Earth Badge. His reputation as a Gym Leader was very well known in Kanto, and none of it was very good. Ruthless, he would be called. Relentless, some would say. Getting an Earth Badge was incredibly difficult, regardless of the amount of training you would undergo beforehand.
"Tell me," Giovanni asked as he explored the wreckage, "They never made it into THAT room, did they?" The Grunts around him shook their heads, mostly because they were blissfully unaware of which room he was talking about. They figured it was the room Giovanni would keep under lock, key, keypad, combination lock, computer password, and two fire-proof reinforced doors. The scientists who developed the doors used the Rocket Boss' own Tyranitar to test its strength against Earthquakes. The doors were impenetrable. "Good." A Grunt handed him a report. It was from Leo, who had been sent to Hoenn to try and track down the final Relic. As he scanned the page, he eventually crushed the paper in his fist.
"The final piece continues to elude me!" He roared, shoving the paper into the grunt's chest. "If it's not in the Cave of Origin or Mt. Pyre then where!? Those are where Hoenn is said to have been created. It is the most logical place!" He kicked the door open that led to his office. His chair, luckily, was still in one piece.
"Perhaps you must throw logic to the wind, sir." A grunt said simply. "There's...the Mirage Island. It always shows up near Pacifidlog. Maybe it's there?"
"What?" Giovanni growled, looking up. "The island hasn't been seen in centuries, you fool. Why would---" he paused, leaning back. The man tapped his finger on his desk, which had been also been replaced. "I can't waste resources on chasing a myth. But the possibility that it is there..." It was genius. Whoever the Original One was, who created the Relics, tucked them away in hopes that nobody would find them. And what better place than a disappearing island? There was one other possibility that popped into his mind as well. He immediately contacted Leo, as Mai was busy with her duties in Sinnoh. "Make camp in Pacifidlog Town. You will send teams to the east to examine two places. The Sky Pillar and the Mirage Island. I don't care how long it takes. You will find my prize."

Despite the continued feeling that she was holding her new friends back, Miharu was more than a little sad to say goodbye to Karrigan and Damien, as the two older trainers had ridden with her and Professor Juniper as far as Nacrene City before deciding to remain behind. They had all exchanged contact information even though Miharu no longer had her PokeGear (just what had Lee done with it...?) before going their separate ways, and Miharu waved at the redheaded and dark-haired trainers until she could no longer see them from the front seat of Juniper's red jeep.
Juniper hadn't really stopped talking since they'd driven out of Castelia City, explaining about various landmarks and routes and pointing out some of the different Pokemon they happened to spot. Almost all of the information went in one ear and right out the other, as all the green-haired girl could think about was her Pokemon. How were they doing? Was Leroy treating them well? Did they miss her, or think she abandoned them? The thoughts were painful but she managed to keep herself from crying, and instead spent a lot of the trip pretending to be asleep, save for whenever they'd pull over to rest or get something to eat. After they'd dropped Damien and Karrigan off at the Nacrene City Pokemon Center, Miharu had spotted a rather large museum, and she had managed to see that it was also the city's Pokemon Gym, but it had gone past before Miharu could read any more.
They arrived in Nuvema well into the evening, though by then Miharu had legitimately fallen asleep. In a drowsy haze she was ushered into Juniper's home/laboratory and given a room, and Miharu couldn't even remember changing into the pajamas she'd been given as she was just that tired, even after sleeping for a large portion of the journey here.

Train hovered away from the house for a moment, feeling a little awkward. She knew that plenty of trainers stopped in to random houses along their travels, and a lot of people were very open and inviting to the travelers. But, still, it felt…rude. Or something. Her stomach growled again, and the girl sighed; with Saffron not even in sight yet, and her food completely gone, it would be absolutely idiotic not to at least knock and say hello. Well, hello, and, "Can you please feed me?"
She trudged forward, her feet now killing her after having stopped again, and headed to the front of the house. The dirty-blonde-haired trainer raised her hand and knocked a little firmly on the door, stomach twisting and growling as she did so. It was less than a minute before an older girl answered the door, looking down at Train. She appeared kind enough, and did not seem particularly surprised. "Can I help you?"+=+=+=+=+ Good. The Hypnosis had actually been successful. That move could be a bit of a gamble. Though the Machop was asleep now, that didn't change the fact that Ghos' move pool was still pretty limited. But at least now Leon had some time to whittle down the Superpower Pokémon's hit points before it came to. Plus, the Machop's own move pool had been opened right up with its Foresight from earlier.
"Alright. Night Shade."
Ghos' became surrounded by a strong, crimson aura, and his eyes darkened to black before an equally dark beam shot out from them, heading directly for his snoozing opponent.

With the surprisingly temperate weather, the plentiful shade, and the chatter of the forest, Jett found his journey in Ilex Forest thus far to be pretty enjoyable -- that is, of course, excluding the grumbling sounds his stomach made every five seconds. That was the primary cause of his discomfort, and of Viy's annoyance. After the fifth threatening rumble, the Venipede chose to walk beside the boy rather than on his shoulder. If he were to collapse and fall, well, he would be done for, and he couldn't have that. The raven-haired boy was wishing he had brought something to eat, as it was getting close to lunchtime by now. At least, that's how his stomach felt. Had he eaten breakfast? The day felt like it was so long, it was hard to remember.
He instead chose to focus on the inquisitve nature of the centipede at hand; every once and a while, the Bug/Poison-type would get so wrapped up in investigating everything around him that he would go too far from the boy's side for his comfort. "Viy," Jett would always call gently, just to remind the young Pokemon of his presence, and he was always answered by a reluctant grumble. Viy would slow down for him, however, and the boy appreciated that. For all the noise they were making, they had attracted no more attention from wild Pokemon and trainers alike. It had been a quiet hour or two, giving him plenty of time to think -- and giving Viy plenty of time to explore. And, since neither was particularly distracted, they both noticed their current predicament at about the same exact time. The Centipede Pokemon stopped dead in his tracks, and Jett's eyes narrowed as he glanced around. He didn't want to be the one to say it, but...
"Uh, Viy, I think we're lost." He nodded very seriously, glancing away just in time to miss his Pokemon's death stare. Nobody was even around for them to ask directions, either. He sighed thoughtfully, retrieving his map and carefully unfolding it. "Man, I think this would be a lot more helpful if we knew where we were, huh?" As if to add to their situation, his stomach rumbled again. That was it. He was going to starve and die here. Scarlet would probably stumble upon his withered corpse. The raven-haired boy looked around nervously, frowning. He was usually so good at keeping his cool, but he was starving and lost and this would clearly be the end of him. Folding back up his map, he laughed nervously. "Well, um, it can't be all bad, right... Viy..." As he spoke, the raven-haired boy looked back up and found that he was talking to himself. He looked all around him, his eyes widening. Panic flooded his heart.
The Venipede was gone.

"Thanks, Kilik!" Georgia called back brightly. "Your Exeggcute's pretty interesting, too!" Being an acolyte of a Grass-type gym, she'd studied many different species, though she'd never had the pleasure of seeing an Exeggcute in person, as they were native to Kanto and Johto. The auburn-haired girl grinned as Kilik appeared to be unsure of how to start, but once he'd picked it, she frowned slightly. "Okay Carnivine! Fight it as best you can, and get in there and Bind 'em!" Georgia hoped she could at least get some passive damage on the weird egg Pokemon once hers had succumbed to sleep. The Bug Catcher Pokemon's long, leg-like vines extended out from under him as he approached Exeggcute, all stretching out to ensnare each seed and hold it tight. The Grass-type wouldn't know if he was successful or not, however, as they Hypnosis finally got to him and he fell asleep.
=-=-=-=-= Jaeshan stood in that same spot for about five minutes, staring off in the direction Lisa had gone. His anger had long since dissipated, replaced by guilt and shame over losing his temper. Lisa had only been trying to lighten the mood and he sighed, now looking down at his hand. He'd managed a few small, shallow cuts, all of which were stinging something fierce, and luckily enough, no giant shards of glass were sticking out of his skin so he wouldn't have to make an awkward return-trip to the hospital for even more stitches. With a heavy sigh and some difficulty, he ripped a large strip from the bottom of his white shirt and carefully wrapped it around his injured hand, mentally scolding himself yet again for his stupid overreacting. Dangerously low on friends, he thought bitterly, hating how true the statement actually was. While he was sure he had plenty of friends out there somewhere, he might as well only have a few, considering the fact that he couldn't remember anything more than a blur of faces.
It was late in the morning by the time he found his way to the Pokemon Center, and Jaeshan paid no attention to the odd looks that were sent his way as he shuffled to the front desk and turned over his four Pokemon. He was a rather sorry sight indeed with his messy, matted hair and bloodstained, torn shirt, dried blood covering both hands, though he did marvel at the fact that he'd managed to avoid getting any on his white pants and aviator jacket. With his Pokemon being looked after, he trudged slowly to the restrooms and stripped, wrapping a towel around himself before throwing all of his clothing into the washing machine, and the rest of his meager belongings into a locker.
He'd started off with the water hot as he could stand it, hoping to relax his aching body, but the heat quickly sent sharp pains through the wound on his head and he was forced to reduce the temperature rather drastically. The cooler water wound up providing better pain relief anyway, and he carefully washed his hair, frowning as he thought of the attractive scar that would be left on the back of his head. After drying himself off, he tossed his wet clothes into the dryer, leaning up against the wall as he waited for the cycle to finish. It felt good to change into warm, clean clothes and he'd fished out a different shirt from a few days ago when he'd raided the lost-and-found bin back in Floaroma Town. The memories made him smile, at least until he realized the t-shirt he'd chosen had been the one he'd lent to Jade after she'd taken her accidental swim in the river and it took all of his willpower not to break down right there in the hallway.

"Viy!" God, Arceus, Whatever Other Powers That May or May Not Be -- his brain was a mess of praying to them all, because he really needed some cosmic intervention right about now. Honestly, this was astounding. He managed to lose a Pokemon that was just -- just given to him via mysterious means, a Pokemon he was clearly destined to have, it was just gone! It -- well, he, rather, was going to die in this forest. Or worse, something else in this forest was going to die and it would be all his fault. Viy was made of tougher stuff than he knew, which did not do much for the boy's nerves. He called out for the bug's name again, running aimlessly about the forest, trying to look for any traces of the Venipede's whereabouts (predictably, none he could discern). He didn't even have time to dwell on how pathetic and uncool this was, mostly because he was overwhelmed by a surprisingly fierce protectiveness. Who knew how many Quilava were in this place? Nothing was going to hurt that centipede if he had anything to say about it.
"Athena," he gasped, finally stopping and thinking rationally. "I have an Athena." Jett released the Noctowl, who trilled rather happily, which was all good and well but -- "A-athena, you need..." Huff, huff. "Viy is... missing..." Huff, huff. He should take up jogging. "Do... flying thing..." He gestured overhead the trees that were blocking his path. Athena simply cocked her head, hooting softly. What was a Viy? The boy gaped, and immediately wanted to smack himself in the face. "If all of you weren't so freaking temperamental, I wouldn't be scared to have you all in one place at the same time and then this wouldn't be happening right now!" Trying to keep calm, he withdrew his Pokedex and quickly flipped to the Venipede's entry. He showed the picture to Athena. "But he isn't those colors -- he's brown and green. You can't miss him; he'll be sticking out." Glancing over the entry again, he frowned. "Oh, don't get bitten. That'll be bad. Just bring him back to me, okay?" Taking one last look at the picture, the owl blinked and took off, leaving the boy frowning at the trees. There was one that caught his attention in particular; it was smaller, and it seemed out of place amongst its neighbors. After a few minutes of frowning at the odd tree (that was just precisely blocking his path; why did he feel like he was forgetting about something?), his concern worsened. Now he hadn't seen or heard from Viy or Athena.
"I don't think your bird is coming back." Jett nearly jumped out of his skin because, even though it was the middle of the day, losing two of your Pokemon will make any place creepy and having people just pop up out of nowhere? That didn't help the problem at all. The raven-haired boy looked over to find an older girl dressed like a safari ranger, hat and all. She smiled a little, sweeping some of her blonde hair away from her eyes. "You know, there's an HM that lets you cut trees like that down." She inclined her head towards the small tree blocking his way. "I can cut it down for you, if you beat me in a battle!" Jett's brows furrowed. Was she being serious? Did she not just notice that at least one of his Pokemon had just gone AWOL? He didn't have time to battle!
"Uh, sorry, but like... two of my Pokemon are missing. I really can't... battle right now." He tried to keep any urgency out of his voice, lest he come off as rude and ruin any chances of this girl helping him. However, when he asked, "Could you just cut it down, please?" there was a hint of desperation in his voice.
"Tell you what!" the girl said, undeterred, "It can just be a one-on-one; real quick, real easy! Are you ready?" Before he could say 'no,' this safari girl was already throwing out a Pokeball, revealing a Pokemon the boy quickly recognized as Ivysaur. "Oh, my name's Cassidy, by the way!" He looked between Cassidy and her Ivysaur for a moment, wondering if the girl was joking. He glanced back at the tree, into the forest beyond, and figured that he better get this over with very quickly.
"Sorry, Cassidy," Jett said, snapping open River's Pokeball. The Emotion Pokemon glanced back at his trainer, almost startled by the rapidly rising anger that he felt coming off of him. But he also felt panic and fear mixed in, so he decided not to question it and instead braced himself. The raven-haired boy fixed his opponent with a cold stare. "I don't think this'll last long enough to qualify as a battle."
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
In his trainer's panic (and all of that fumbling with that blasted map), Viy had begun to move on, assuming that they had missed a turn at some point or another. "Venipede," he grunted, calling the boy to follow him, but he seemed very busy talking to himself. Oh, well. Once he had found his way out of this forest, the Venipede would simply retrace his steps and find the boy again. This would go much, much quicker if he was on his own, anyways. So, as merry as the centipede could be, he went merrily on his way. It didn't take long for him to discover their error: the path they should have taken was blocked by a tree, which was exceptionally poor planning on the rangers' part. He examined the bark carefully with his feelers, deciding that it would cause him nothing but a headache should he try to knock the tree down with his Rollout attack. That being said, he didn't even have to knock the tree down. He could fit perfectly between the tree trunks. Not much could be said for his large human companion, but that was a bridge to be crossed at a later point.
Being without trainer (albeit temporarily) was so liberating! Viy was simply delighted to find that he didn't have to slow down or temper his inquisitiveness for the sake of always being in sight. He examined the environment around him with great speed, already progressing far beyond that pesky tree. And the ecosystem had started to emerge again! Here he caught sight of a cluster of Caterpie; there were some organisms that resembled pinecones! And above, oh, a Flying-type! Rapidly descending upon him!
Despite being a young, rather inexperienced Pokemon, Viy was not at all afraid of such predators; at least, not nearly afraid as he ought to be. Assuming it was only a native (and thus as weak as him, considering the fight that Caterpie put up earlier) Pokemon, the Venipede's eyes narrowed, instead feeding upon his own anger that flared up whenever something had the gall to interrupt his studies with such little shame. He reared back at the last moment, hearing talons scrape the earth, and bit into the large mass of feathers that invaded his vision. In the next moment, there was a weakened squawk and the Venipede felt the vindictive joy gleaned from landing such a devastating blow. And it was devastating, at that -- after a moment of what seemed to be surprise, on the bird's part, the Pokemon collapsed, twitching. Natural selection favored Venipede, as Viy soon discovered: their bites contained strong paralytics. And now that the bird was grounded, he could easily eliminate it with a few choice Rollouts...
If he could cackle, he would. Eager to see what kind of foolish Pokemon he'd be exterminating, the Venipede crawled over to see his would-be predator. It seemed to be a large (very large) owl, whose eyes focused upon him and widened. She tried to hoot, to no avail. "Venipede," the Bug/Poison-type said, rather smugly, before he backed away. He Curled up, boosting his defense, but before he could continue (after waiting politely, of course, to make sure that the owl could do nothing), the sound of buzzing filled the air...
Oh, dear. While he wasn't afraid of taking a single predator by surprise, Viy was not equipped to handle what sounded like an entire swarm of them. Admittedly, he was becoming quite afraid.
