"It's very nice," Miyuki replied with a nod.

Though she had to admit, she would rather be able to smell the wood, that was the best part about carvings.

"Have you been here before?"

Her mother had to pause slightly to give her eyes time to adjust to the light. A lot of it was furniture she noted.

Amalirahc nodded. "The man here didn't like me very much, though, so I didn't really talk to him. I let Mama do that."

River frowned. "That's not right. They shouldn't do that."

"Well, River," Earendil murmured, "people will do what they will. There really isn't anything we can do about it."

He glanced over at Lin. "Would you like me to take Andarien for a bit?" he asked her. "You've been carrying him all day, and his sling won't be ready until tomorrow ..."

Miyuki had to agree with River, but she admitted there was no logic in it, and if there was no logic there was no way to convince people to do otherwise.

Which sucked.

Lin held out Andarien for Earendil to take, "Thank you, who knows maybe he'll see more being in your arms."

She could tell Andarien did like to look around a lot.

Earendil took Andarien and put him to his shoulder so that the infant could look behind him.

"It's a pity we can't really buy anything here," he murmured to Lin. "But we really haven't any use for any of it at the moment, not until we have a home of our own."

Though at the moment, they didn't even know where they might eventually settle.

"And that can be a long time away," Lin admitted.

Even if they found a place to settle, the question was, would they ever find time to settle there. So far they were always on the move, though she supposed maybe as the children grew older.

Which was strange since most people did the opposite, stayed when the children were young and travel as the children got older.

"I mean, we don't even know when we would settle."

"Like Mama and Papa," Amalirahc spoke up absently, not quite paying attention to the conversation. "They don't have any idea when we'll stop traveling, if ever. But I don't mind, there's always people we can stay with, and I like traveling."

Earendil chuckled. "True enough." He turned back to Lin. "There's no rush, is there? Traveling with children isn't what we once feared, is it? Andarien is holding up well, and Amalirahc's proof that it's quite possible to raise children while traveling."

Not to mention, it seemed Haldia and Celeb had every intention of doing the same thing.

Lin smiled and laughed at that, "It isn't."

Andarien was the big reason why they knew better now. Miyuki they had waited, traveled to what they had considered safer areas before coming here.

"I would have never imagined traveling with very young children, even after Miyuki was born."

She might have even stayed put when Miyuki came along if Kaito hadn't pointed out it had been done before.

Earendil chuckled with Lin, and just as he was about to open his mouth, the keeper of the shop called out, "Are you going to stand there and take up space or are you going to buy something?"

Earendil blinked at the old man. It wasn't as if there were other customers in the shop and they were in the way or anything. He was used to people being friendly, to shopkeepers chatting along with him while he got around to business.

He looked down at Lin. "What do you think?" he asked her. "Are we finished here?"

"I am," River muttered, one hand still over her nose.

Lin frowned, it was amazing anyone brought anything from this man, but then again maybe he was just that way because it was them. It wasn't like any of them were human, and it was already proven that the people here didn't like Amalirahc at all.

"I think we're done," Lin replied.

"Grump," Miyuki muttered under her breath.

Earendil nodded. "Amalirahc, come on. Time to go."

Amalirahc came immediately, though he was clearly reluctant to leave the shop. He was used to people being rude to him, and he really did like the workmanship of the items in there.

"Where to next?" he asked, looking at Lin and Earendil.

Lin thought about it, she wasn't sure if there was anywhere she really wanted to go. The attuide was kind of off putting, but Amalirahc didn't seem bothered by it at all.

"Do you have any suggestions?" she finally asked him.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 28, 2011 7:52 pm

"Can we find a snack?" Amalirahc asked eagerly, making Earendil laugh as they left the shop.

"We just finished eating!" he chided the boy, though he was greatly amused. "Maybe we should head back and rest for a bit. The others will want to know how it went."

Lin nodded, maybe that was for the best. Especially if Amalirahc was only going to suggest they eat again, though the thought made her giggle.

"You're kind of like Sen-sen...." Miyuki told her friend good naturely.

She didn't mean it in a bad way, only that it seemed like her friend was always thinking about food like the way the cat did.

Amalirahc grinned at Miyuki. He didn't mind the comparison. It was true, after all. The only difference was that he wasn't all roly-poly like the kitty was. It didn't go to his belly - it went to his height. Young as the boy was, he was as tall as River was.

"We should probably get back to her," he told Miyuki. "She's probably bored without us."

"Off we go," Earendil murmured, ushering the children towards the city gate again. "We'll come back tomorrow."

Or napping, but Miyuki didn't say that. She would like to be back with Senka anyways. It was probably better than being here, people seemed too grumpy here.

"What we'll we do tomorrow?" she asked.

She couldn't imagine what else they could do, besides pick up her clothes and Andarien's sling.
