User ImageI am gone from my home, my world...
Gwarn was filled with a rage so strong, A purely Feral nature surrounded him.
Meat. Blood. He would spill blood, he would rend flesh. He will kill every last humaniod on this godforsaken plane until he could be home again.
His past had forsaken him. His people laughed at him. The prophesy, the quest, It was all a Lie, and he would take his vengeance upon everything. He would not stop until he drowned in the viscera and gore.
Another roar issued from his maw, and he was ready.
His sword had washed up alongside him- a broadsword wreathed in flames, flames that reacted to his thoughts, that burned with malevolence or Light, depending on Gwarn.
They were White, the flames, and for anything to come close to it, it would mean at least severe burning.
He picked it up without problem from it's resting place in the now-charred sand, sheathed it in the leather scabbard belted to his hip, And Started running into the Jungle.
But it is really gone from me?

"L-L... Love...?" she stuttered, taking in a big gulp as a bright shade of red rose up her cheeks. She'd felt it, of course, but to hear him actually say it was something entirely different. And a whole lot more embarrassing.

Coline still couldn't quite grasp the reality of it all. She wanted to believe him, she did, but it all felt so... unreal. "Love... is such a strong word. I mean, it's only been a day, and I really don't have a lot to offer..." A sudden jolt of panic shot through her and she gripped both his hands tightly, looking the drow square in the face, a lot more eager than she probably should. "D-Don't take it the wrong way!" she blurted out. "I didn't mean to sound so skeptical. It's just that I'm not used to being wanted, that's all! Really!"

It took her a while to realize how strange her choice of words might have seemed and her head sunk into her shoulders, brows curled up and twitching, her lips stretched out into one thin line. This was all starting to feel very awkward for the girl and, as she had done in the past, darted her eyes away to scan for any potential distractions.

"I know it's only been a day," he replied quickly, a note of pleading in his voice as he gripped her hands "I know better than most just how long it takes to build a successful relationship. But you've felt it too, haven't you? Tell me I'm not deluding myself to think that you could want me as much as I want you!"

He stopped, the last part of what she'd said properly registering. He breathed out slowly, watching as the girl's emotions twisted her face; as she lowered her head in... shame? Whatever it was, his heart gave a little ache. This situation was becoming upsetting for her, and he wished he hadn't said anything after all.

Wrapping his arms around her, he brought his hand up to the back of her head and deliberately began stroking her hair.

"Yes - I want you," he whispered, eye finding the fallen endtable; "I don't know what's gone on in your life, but I want you. Everything I have is of infinitely lesser value than you, and I want to give it all to you. The greatest riches I have pale to your beauty and worth. So... the fact that you have nothing to offer except yourself is absolutely ideal, because there couldn't be anything that would hold my interest more."

The niggling worry rose up in him. He was really laying it on thick now. If she wasn't absolutely terrified already, she would be pretty soon. This was a woman who didn't want anything. This was a woman who was afraid of receiving love, no matter how desireable it may be or what advantages it might bring. It would take time, he knew. Well, he had plenty of time.

"I understand if you feel indebted to me. I understand that this is all a lot to take in, and I am really not helping matters with... terribly corny speeches like that," he chuckled "But you know, as long as I stand here and hold you, everything feels like it will work out just fine."

A flag pinged up in his mind. He'd completely forgotten!

"Hey-!" he cried, pulling away, a broad smile on his face "That reminds me! Oh... but," he stopped, suddenly catching himself. Oh, dear. If she'd hated his generosity already, maybe this wasn't such a good idea...

Still, going by the philosophy he'd imposed upon himself already - it's too late now, can't go back - he took both of her hands again, kissing them both in turn, the bright smile reappearing. He could coax her into accepting this, surely?

"No, nevermind. I think you'll like this. But I'll only show you, my dear, if you promise not to run screaming from the room, never to return," he teased, voice dripping with charm. Inside, however, his heart was pounding. This might turn out to be... interesting?

Coline soon found herself back in the drow's arms, taking in every single word like a sponge, all the more to fuel the heat rising in her cheeks. This was all like something cut out of a fairy tale, but it wasn't. All of this was real. Captain Jessie Hawk... her Jessie... truly wanted to be with her. She could recall very few times in her life where she'd felt anything close to being this happy.

The sound of his voice, his laughter... it was mesmerizing. And his body was so warm and inviting. Whatever it was that she'd done to deserve such a wonderful man, she wasn't sure, but she was glad that it happened. For a moment it felt that all those years she'd spent in that orphanage were worth something, had everything led towards this one moment.

With a blissful sigh the recruit eased her body towards his, and was just about to bring her hands up his back when he suddenly exclaimed and pulled away. She blinked. "Something to... show me...?" she repeated, brows furrowing in concern. What was this about?

Coline took a moment to stop and think things over. From what he said she could gather that this was something that was most likely going to surprise her. But what could it be, and why now? Why could he possibly show her that would cause for surprise after that confession, in the middle of the night, in his bedroo--

...

She brought a hand to clasp at her mouth immediately and a very very visible shade of red appeared on her cheeks. Was... Was this for real? He wasn't going to... was he? B-But it's only been a day! Wasn't it way too early for something like this?! Unless... this was perfectly normal in drow society...? Okay, she had to calm down. Jessie surely wasn't suggesting anything like that, right? Not after everything he just said. And even if he was...

...

There was only one way to find out. Lowering her hand from her mouth Coline, albeit the tremendous worry mirrored by her expression, slowly nodded her head.

Jessie's smile faltered a little at the horrified look on her face. It soon returned with vengeance, however.

"Don't look so terrified! I promise, you're going to like this. Please, wait here. Sit down, if you wish."

He dashed out into the living room, pulling out the large, square box with the bright, aqua ribbon from its hiding place under one of the desk sections. The smaller box on top slid off and to the floor, and he quickly picked it up, praying that it wasnt damaged. Thankfully, it wasnt, and he...

Wait.

He looked at his hands; the dress balanced in one hand, the necklace in the other. Maybe... maybe this WAS too much. He might not have considered only giving her one at a time, but her reaction had given him cause for concern. The necklace... it was valuable, and ancient, and would show her just how serious he was about her.

...Maybe, then, that was one to avoid until another night.

Slipping the small box back into its hole, Jessie took the large box in both hands, moving back towards the open doorway. He stopped for a moment, and swallowed, the worry flaring up. What if she rejected it and ran?

...Would this worry plague him forever?

No, of course not. They were only starting out. This was completely natural. Bolstered, he strode back through the door, stopping again a few steps inside. Coline sat on the edge of the bed, waiting. For some reason, he suddenly appreciated the smoothness of the paper under his fingers. It was like a dream. This whole situation was so... perfect, despite knowing he had to tread carefully. He never wanted these moments to end.

Well, maybe the moments after he got through with giving her the present. If she didn't get up and run, that was. In which case he'd take the moments right before he opened his mouth about it.

Slowly moving forwards, he glid down onto the bed beside her, and slid the box from his lap to her own. "...I hope it pleases you."

Going to like it? Oh... Oh dear. He didn't need to ask; Coline needed to sit down to get her mind around all of this. So then, he was really suggesting... that? And she agreed to it? She brought her hands up to her heated cheeks, heart pounding like it wanted to leap out of her chest. She wasn't sure what she'd gotten herself into, but if it were Jessie then... she supposed everything would turn out fine. Surely he'd be... gentle?

Coline groaned inwardly, her stance mimicking that of a wilting flower, only to sit back up straight when she heard footsteps by the door. Her back was turned to him, of course; she was too terrified to find out what sight would greet her once the door had opened. Although she'd be able to see everything she dreaded to see in a few minutes time...

The hair at the back of her neck rose as she felt Jessie slide over beside her on the bed. She still dared not turn to look at him, she couldn't! There was only so much skin she could handle seeing on a man! No. She can't possibly go through with this. If she asked nicely, maybe he'd reconsider? The recruit took in a big gulp. "J-Jessie, I-- Huh?" Her eyes peered open to stare at the neatly-wrapped box upon her lap.

...

She broke into hysterics. So THIS was what he was talking about! And to think that she... oh god, this was just too funny! Of course the Captain wouldn't know what she was going on about, and as such Coline felt she needed to say something before he got the wrong idea. "Ahaha... I'm sorry, this is very rude of me. It's just that, I thought... Pahahaha!" It took her another minute to recompose herself. Wiping a tear from her eye she turned to the drow. She wasn't able to wipe the silly grin off of her face just yet, however. "I thought you had something else in store for me."

This certainly wasn't the reaction he'd been expecting.

"...May I ask what exactly is so funny?" he inquired, a moment of haughtiness as she laughed at his gift giving way to good humour again. She had a beautiful laugh. It occurred to him that she didn't laugh very often. Maybe he'd have to give her even more things, if this was the reaction it brought.

Her explanation, however, drew a great deal of puzzlement. Something else? What else could he have possibly been proposi-

Oh.

Jessie's smile puckered, eyebrow raising. "I'm terribly sorry to disappoint you, in that case."

"I think this package, however, should prove just as pleasing as any other I could provide you with. Please... open it."

That raised eyebrow said it all; he knew what she was thinking. Coline, who was still rather flushed from her recent display of hysteria, quickly directed her attention back towards her lap. She would give no further comment on the matter.

With a small nod she slipped her lonely glove off and held the box firmly in hands, feeling around it briefly in preparation for what would be a more tedious process; most people would simply tear the wrapping apart, but not her. With careful hands she slid the ribbon off and went on to gently n** at the adhesive tape holding the wrapping together, making sure not to tear or break it as much as possible. There were many things this wrapping could still be used for.

Eventually the bare box sat in front of her, and she couldn't help but feel a little anxious to know what he had gotten her. God, she hoped it wasn't something too expensive... She gave Jessie one last glance, as if asking for reassurance, before she grabbed the box by the sides and popped it open to reveal... some sort of cloth? Lifting it up from its container and holding it out for a better look, her eyes widened upon realizing what it was.

"A dress!" she exclaimed, pulling it back towards her for closer inspection, her voice hushing down to a whisper. "It's beautiful..." The silky texture of the fabric was just mind-blowing; the quality of this dress was on a whole different league compared to what she usually wore. Owning something like this... was a luxury.

Coline brought the dress close to her chest and turned to the drow. "I love it. Thank you." she said, a bright smile adorning her features. Her words were simple but her tone reflected a great magnitude of emotion. If only there was something she could do to return the favor...

Hmm... Maybe there was. She must be thinking too highly of herself to imagine that this would please him, but... "Would you... like me to wear it for you?" she asked, a hint of embarrassment in her expression.

"Yes. The very same one. My boat. And I let that Baka drive it, and he crashed it. But it's my fault, I knew he couldn't drive it. And it's a weird top hat thingie. Thinking of that, Bapp was clinging to the outside of the boat. And we..crashed. And I was the only one uninjured. Cause I have mad skills. "

User ImageFeline glanced over to the Professor and saw that he was still absorbed with the High Priestess. She slid her hand over the amethyst and with a little movement as possible she pulled it towards her and dropped it down the front of her robe. It warmed with the contact to her skin and sang happily in Feline’s other senses.

She then moved over to look at the potions on Panda’s shelf, hoping that when the attention was turned back to her he would be so preoccupied with his precious potions that he would not notice the missing artifact till well after she had left the study.

The potions were almost like looking at jewels themselves. Each glowed with a different color, some were opaque while others looked like clouds building up to a storm. Panda was really a magical genius when it came to his potions, but his attitude definitely left much to be desired.
