The infodump I've been going through from the Legion's last meeting with the Titans has been very enlightening regarding this situation. I was looking for information on the construct known as Indigo, but instead I found a wealth of information regarding Lian Harper and her family.
This is like the fifth time that the child has been used as a hostage by enemies. Harper really should be looking at getting a more battle-ready daycare at this point.

There is no mission. The Joker wants Tony Stark. Before we give him up, we need to find out why the Joker wants Stark.
Logic would dictate that he wanted the leader of SHIELD to take control of the Helicarrier here in the Metaverse. But the Joker is not ruled by logic. This is my disadvantage; it is...hard...for me to postulate the reasoning behind his actions.
