@ Zinc : Geez man, how many times do I have to tell you? Akeru is a special case. What she really needs is some therapy.
Basically because she grew up without a family and was basically disliked by most people around her, the way she forms personal relationships with people is different. She basically seeks out family figures to replace the family she never had, and what she's searching for is the unconditional love and support that comes with a family. Because Tanto believed in her, she started to see him as a sort of father figure. But basically telling her to her face that she was a failure and always had been showed her that he never really did, and subliminally she hates herself for thinking there was someone that actually gave a damn about her. So she's come to the conclusion that nobody does and basically shut herself off.
As for wanting to leave, she's always felt that everyone around her either hated her or saw her as nothing but garbage, and now that she closed herself off to the people that actually do care, she feels alone and isolated. She sees the whole village as some prison cell, like she's being punished for her very existance. And like any prisoner, she just wants out.
And if she did live in sound, she would have never started to see the Otokage as a father figure, so he wouldn't have been able to do the same emotional damage (though the physical damage would probably be much worse). Aside from the people she lets close to her, Akeru is extremely resilient mentally.

Most of everything that is said is recorded and given to him (like 50% of stuff) by jonin like Four. He isn't one for freedom of speech and will do whatever he has to do to shut them up. So it's going to get worse if people continue to oppose him.

Listening in on us...I'm reminded of watergate...
Anyway, herr feurher basically made Akeru vulnerable and hit her hard. She's really not likely to recover unless some people can break her out of her shell, the best bets right now are Akira and Ryumon.
But if Akeru does go back to normal, I doubt she will ever trust Tanto again. So the kage made possible enemies of three of his own ninja. That's not good at all, is it?

You are honestly comparing Four telling Tanto about his interactions with lower level ninja to the Watergate Scandal? Wow. Well, we all know the story of Zabuza and the failed assassination plot. That didn't end well for Zabuza or his men did it? If ya feel like attacking him go for it. biggrin

No, not Four telling him. More of the "He isn't one for freedom of speech and will do whatever he has to do to shut them up" and the "It's going to get worse if people continue to oppose him" lines. Those are both very...totalitarian statements...
And nobody ever said anything about assassinating him. Akira's fiercely loyal to Suna and Akeru would rather run away from Suna than fight it, and Ryumon's a new genin. There won't be any assassination attempts there. They could still work to get him removed or generally undermine his authority though.

For the record Ryumon had a moment of clarity about what MIGHT have been Tanto's true intent... my theory is he sees jounin potential in her. He even thanked Four for helping him look past his anger.
Edit: Also new Genin or not Ryumon wouldn't let himself even try to fight an opponent in rage or anger....he is acutely terrified of himself doing that very thing.
