A nod. "That's right, we would. I'll ask Malik about it." After all, he had done it with Malikhai and they all knew Malik's past was less than pristine, yet the child hadn't seemed to suffer too badly now had he? Nope. But his attention turned from his own thoughts back to his son. "That's right, we would." Though a blink. "You think mommy is going to leave us?" Where had that come from and why did he not like the sound of it...but children were quick to change subjects. "I felt mine too...and yes that means it's back...though I don't want you trying anything till I say it's okay, alright?"

He nibbled his own cookie, beaming when Zahara said it was his idea and such. He was such a smart little elf wasn't he? And now that mommy was clean, it was toddle over and latch to her legs, hugging her again in that toddler way. Yay mommy was back home and all felt right again.

A slight amused look at the draithix that followed her son in odd walking matter. Poor thing, he wasn't used to those at all. But a look up to Zahara as she rested a hand on her son's head. "Mostly...combination of slug and water temple slime, fire temple soot and earth temple dirt, and various kinds of mude dirt and grim in between as well as filthy underdark wilderness water." Raising a hand to touch at the gash in her cheek that was fairly healed on it's own somewhat by now. "I'm just quite the buffet of little injuries...and I think I broke a rib or two. But that's just assuming." A smile at Malik before watching him go sit on the bed. Mmm Malik and bed...But attention back to Zahara.

"You just never know Daddy. Nobody expected magic to leave but it did. And Miss Piper left and now Mr. Khaiver's gonna leave too." He was planning on keeping mommy from ever leaving him again. She'd promised to be his mommy and she was going to stay with him until forever and ever passed.

"Okay. Mr. Malik will probably start lessons back up again soon. He gets real impatient when he has to wait. Plus he wants Malikhai to become just like him." Where do children pick these things up from? Casual conversation among adults was perfect for those child like sponges, now weren't they? "So that means mommy will be able to do her pretty purple healing thing again, right?"

Zahara shook her head and walked over, lightly touching the gash on her cheek. "That's not attractive at all. If I were you, I'd still be in the bath scrubbing myself because Sevilin wouldn't let me touch anything until I'd practically scrubbed the skin off my body. That man and clean." But she reached down and tousled his hair. "You think you have broken ribs?" A groan, "Piper those are not the words to say to your healer. Into the bathroom with you now." She turned to Malikhai, "Mommy will be right back, I promsie." Closing the door, she began a very thorough check of every inch of Piper's body. At the end she merely shook her head. "You have one broken rib that needs to be splinted and bandaged, there's fluid in your lungs that worries me slightly though it could just be from all that slime and Underdark water and you look exhausted. Bed rest, plenty of reverie and as soon as my magic comes back full force, we'll heal that rib right up." So saying as she was applying bruise ointment to the other places that were various colors on her body. "You really went through it. Was it worth it?"

Aella walked out of the front doors at a steady pace. Deep Water would be notified first, then the southern towns. From there, word would spread all over the underdark in due time.

She tilted her head up and looked at Onyx, the ever still and silent observer. They had all taken the Oracle's death in different ways, not many of them really knew how to handle it. It might have been selfish, but she took comfort in knowing she was not the only one suffering.

She waved to Onyx, and wondered if he saw. Turning back around, she headed for Deep Water.

Delta had no need to watch the messenger leave. No need for sight at all. Unlike her mother, who had nown eyesight for the first five years, and the last five of her life, Delta had been born blind. And she would remain blind, no amount of magic or lack of would cure that.

Her fingers traced little trinkets and fortune telling devices that were scattered about her mother's room. "You were a sentimental fool, mother."

She rolled some stones around in her hands. "This home will not find me near as soft."

"I suppose." Children were so perceptive sometimes that it was scary. "Right of course, but I'm sure he's going to wait a bit, don't you? And yes. Mommy will be able to do the pretty purple healing things." Though he gave a slight sniff of the air as they neared the end of his rounds. "Smell cookies? I think they're done...want to get some?"

He was duely detached and he picked up Yinn, toddling over to the bed and climbing up on it to sit next to daddy and wait for mommy to come back out. After all, he knew that Zahara was practically mommy's personal healer.

She gently detached her son and then let her friend usher her into the bathroom so she could check her out. After all if she had to go through being prodded at, it better be by Zahara. "Well...I did get quite a bit of things down my nose and throat, so it doesn't surprise me at all. You don't care what you're sucking down when you're busy running for your life and such." Giving a sigh and shaking her head. "Just don't tell Malik he may go all overprotective of me. And I am quite exhausted." But then she was quiet a moment. Was it worth it. "I....well are you all happy that magic is back?" That's right...she didn't know if it had been worth it...

"Yup, because he doesn't want Malikhai or me to get hurt and neither do you. Plus Malikhai has to learn all the stuff in that book for his teacher. I'm glad mine doesn't do books, just Wiggles." It was thrilling to know that magic was going to be back for everyone, including his mother because that meant no more icky potions for things that she could heal with her magic. Health was only when she couldn't heal them.

Lifting his head slightly, he sniffed the air as well. "Yes!" He was always up for cookies. "And you can pour the milk because last time I dropped it and it spilled everywhere." Thus tugging on Daddy's hand to drag him into the kitchen and he plopped back up on the stool eyeing those cookies happily. "How many do I get? Five?"

Zahara continued her ministrations, trying to be gentle though some of those bruises looked pretty nasty. "I'm just glad you didn't cut really badly anywhere. Cuts mixed with various kinds of slime, grime, and nasty water generally don't bode well for the healing process as a whole." She picked up a bandage and slowly began to wrap it around Piper's chest and middle, binding her up so that rib wouldn't be irritated. Hopefully it hadn't begun the healing process incorrectly or that was just going to be a b***h. But she finished easily enough and nodded. "That's not really fair Piper. You know we can't live without magic but I don't like the price you were forced to pay because of it either. Now what happened to make you cry?"

Onyx's eyes watched Aella, but he didn't move. Delta's scent drifted through the air, but he was still as the stonework. Meilikki may not have been a mother figure to Onyx, but she was in the consideration of something akin to an aunt or cousin. someone close, but not direct family close. not to mention she had given him a home. upon her death, he did also realize just how delicate having a home might be. after all, in the wilds, your den could be invaded by numerous underdark things. here was safer..but with the Oracle gone..who knows what would become of those that resided in the manor?

Malik picked up his son and sat him on his lap, and gave him a light hug.

"glad mom's back? and see, she's just fine, just like we promised."

though he was sure she had some nasty cuts and bruises at least that she might have been able to hid from him. no one took on such dangers and came out with only little scratches and such. mentally and physically.

He let the boy drag him and plopped five cookies down in front of the boy, before grabbing him a glass and getting the milk out, filling the glass and sliding it over to the boy, putting the milk away and then taking a seat as well. "So you can have five and if you're good, you can have some more later."

She was used to this by now and thus knew just to hold still and let it all happen. "I tried to avoid it...after all, I didn't need a major issue to deal with like that when I had other things to tend to other than being hurt." But a moment of quiet as she let Zahara continue to do things until she was done and Piper pulled her robe back on. "Well...I don't know. I mean, magic is back and there's going to be a surface and all...but, well I guess it just doesn't mean as much to me as it does to everyone else." A sigh at that then at the last question. "Meilikki is dead...I don't want to talk about it...are we done?"

He hugged his father back, giving a giggle and resting his hot little cheek against his father's shoulder for the moment. He nodded. "You always keep your promises daddy." Hugging him tightly a moment before looking to Yinn again as he was chewing on fingers. "And she doesn't have to leave again right."

Zykariel was excited to see that he got the amount of cookies he'd asked for. He had only said five because that was the highest number he felt he could get away with. Bartering worked better from higher numbers after all. "Okay!" He translated 'good' to mean if he stayed away from Mr. Khaiver. Thus he took to making five cookies disappear and the milk as well. "Daddy, do you really love Mommy? 'Cause if you don't you don't have to play the game no more. It's not really fair to make you."

Zahara nodded, understanding that Piper didn't want to talk about anything she had encountered or anything that had to do with her body and healing. Sighing, she finished capping her jars and set them back into the various places she'd pulled them from. "Yes, remember Piper. Once you and Malik and Malikhai have some time alone and he's not so clingy, I want you in reverie and staying in that bed. You need to regain your mental capacities." And she obviously needed to grieve. Giving her a smile before setting a hand on her shoulder. "Welcome home, Piper. It's good to have you back. And thanks." Thus she opened the door, repeated the instructions to Malik and then left the room.

"Good." Simple as that sometimes and he propped an elbow on the table, in his own thoughts again before he turned his eyes to the boy. Why did children have to ask such questions? "Yes, I suppose I do....it's okay." A look to him though fully this time. "You were so adamant about the game before."

"Alright, I'll be good this time and take my rest. I think I really really need it this time." Like when she had Malikhai, she really needed that rest too. But a smile at her friend. "Good to be home." Walking out of the bathroom and over to the bed where her son and husband were, sitting down next to them, taking Malikhai and pulling him into he own list, while leaning back against Malik.

Delta spoke from a window a few feet underneath Onyx. It was an atic type room, used for storage. And how did she know he was up there, being blind as she was? Oracle to the Sky Father. She knew more than she would ever let on.

"You needn't worry aobut such things." Not a kind voice, more of a blunt voice. "My dear departed mother left offical documents in my care. They elves, and such as yourself, are not to be touched."

Zykariel glanced up, still chewing a mouthful of cookie, and scanned his father's face to make sure he was telling the truth. A satisfied nod and he turned back to wash the chocolate down with the tall glass of cold milk. "Yup, 'cause it was important to me before." He picked off a lone chocolate chip and ate it then continued,

"I want you two to love each other because you want to, not because I burnt a candle or made you get married. I guess when you grow up and learn stuff, you kinda learn that you can't make others do things they don't really wanna do. I can't make you and Mommy bond and I can't make you and Mommy love each other, just like I couldn't make Mommy love me. She had to want to first." Yes, Kariel had been thinking about this for a little while.

He blinked at his son, watching him a moment before reaching over and pulling the boy into his lap, nuzzling him then ticking at the boy's stomach, about the most normal action Sevilin had shown in two days. "When did you get so smart, hm?" Giving a chuckle, he let up on the tickling...after all last thing he needed was the child throwing up on him and such from laughing too hard or something. Kids did odd things.

Zykariel squealed both in happiness and distressed at the tickling, squirming half heartedly since he really didn't want to go anywhere. When it stopped he merely leaned back against his father's chest and shrugged. "My head told me one day." A nod and giggle at that before he said "Mr. Malik really missed Miss Piper and his letters were just like Malikhai's. I want you and mommy to be that way, but if you're not that's okay too."

He turned in his father's lap and threw his arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. "I love you Daddy but do you know what?" Waiting a beat before whispering. "You should tell her 'cause Mommy's silly and she doesn't know these things."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 09, 2007 3:39 pm

He smiled at the child he was holding, after all Zykariel was very much a soother in his world of turbulant chaos. Zahara was as well, though she had a tendency to cause that turbuant chaos as well. Complicated. "Did it? Well, that is a very smart head of yours. You should remember to give it plenty of reverie later to congradulate it."

A little tickle once more for the boy before smoothing a hand over his puffy hair. "Do you now?" Yet seemed the boy had made some sort of peace with the fact that things may never be what they were like. "I love you too Zykariel...sure you're not still mad at me?" For...whatever it as hte boy threw a fit over about Khaiver. But a blink and a shake of his head. "She's like that."

"It doesn't need that much reverie, Daddy." He recognized the subtle innuendo regarding either an earlier bedtime or staying in bed longer in the morning, neither of which appealed to him. He gave a crooked little grin to his father and laughed.

"Silly Daddy. Even when I'm real mad at you, I still love you. But nope, I'm not mad anymore. I don't get it but you're bigger and older than I am and you have a smarter head than I do. It's probably a good idea to listen to your head over mine." He shifted in his arms and twisted, picking up the last of his cookies. "You gonna tell her?"
