Maybe if she had been herself, she would have remembered her awkwardsness. For the moment, it was forgotten. Sher hands fisted in his clothes, she cried on his chest.

"How can you be so sure? She's....what I lived for. I trained for her, to protect her. Now...what am I?"

Perhaps she was thinking to selfishly...

"Aella is Aella." He welcomed her into his arms, one side much more welcoming than the metallic otherside. "No one wants anything other than that from you. Meillikki accepted you are you are, and enjoyed how you bettered yourself. Not for survice to herself, but for the fact her precious Aella was becoming stronger."

"I am possitive that Meilikki did not intend to leave so suddenly, and I am shure that she is aware of your great love and affection for her. I hope that your strong conviction never ceases, never dies out or becomes stanite. The fires within your soul should keep burning... Even if you are to serve only yourself... For now." He was not going to force her to pick any alligencies at this moment, she would ally with whom she would, and he could do nothing short of preventing her from being herself to stop it.

"Let me tell you something my mother once told me, six hundred years ago. My great uncle fell in battle, and he was my closest tutor. I could not accept the fact that he would not be teaching me anymore, and I raged in my own house. She took me aside, and said to me this: 'Life is like a fire, it burns, and one day it will burn out. As long as that fire catches hold, and starts new fires, there is no reason to laiment the dead flame. For, each fire it has started, retains a breath of the first flame.' By being alive, you keep Meilikki alive, as long as you continue to burn. Honour her life, by living honourably."

"I'll take that one." Hey she was going to take anything she could right now, because she really didn't want to think too hard...hell she just wanted to be on autopilot, or lay around for a week straight. But she dropped her eyes from him as he mentioned Meilikki again, seeing as that was a subject she wasn't keen on because of guilt. "Hm...well, dieties are selfish as ever then and care not for the promises made between those in the mortal world...and they wonder why I would rather shun them than look to them." Bitter, yes. And let's drink down the last half of her glass, hey it was a the good stuff too. Then a shake of her head. "Leaf and Fin will be crushed...she was so happy that she was going to go home and tell everyone that hey guess what, there's going to be a surface." Responses in that stoic tone...she was really wasn't handling any of this well. But a nod to his question, leaning her head lightly into his touch. "Old habits die hard...but it was good this time, or I may have lost them several times over." Staring at the water in the tub a moment...there was never a clean cut happy ending, was there? Would be nice to just have one.

Malikhai wasn't to sure what was going on with Zykariel, but it was rather obvious that the boy wasn't happy at all for whatever reason and he didn't even tell Malikhai. Made him sad. But a look over to Zahara as they were finishing up..hm, maybe this would make Zykariel happy. "Zahara, can me and Zykariel have a bond?"

A shuddering sigh, and she felt strangley comforted though her tears still came.

"Live honourabley."

"I guess I couldn't expect anyone to come up with any answers for me. I need to find my own path right?" Which was difficult still, because she didn't know her strengths and how to play on them.

She decided it was time for a change. She could no longer afford to be the frightened, unsociable little half-elf that she had been since her release from captivity.

She demonstrated this decision by lifting the bridge of her nose under his chin, so that their skin touched. "Thank you."

He noticed that change somewhat aphensively. He was not sure what to think of her sudden attracton for physical touch. "You are welcome." He replied.

She stayed like that for a time, then stood and straightened her clothes. (Right now she was wearing a black, sari like dress.) "Excuse me, Cedric. For as much as I would like to morn longer, I must spread the word so that the Meilikki's funeral attendance does her justice."

She grabbed her staff, checked her ankltes, whipped her tears. "I'll have to figure myself out when I return."

Leaf pulled Fin by his sleeve, excited to see home for the first time since they were gone, and shoiwng more emotion than she had in a lifetime. Perhaps because she finally had sometihng to express about who knew.

Around the next rock face, and they would be able to see the Peninsula. But when they rounded that corner, all Leaf could see was a thin, heavey mist that smelled vaugly rotten, almost sulfuric. "What's...." she didn't understand.

Cedric bowed to her, "As you wish." He said gently as she left. He pondered for a second. He had not seen or heard from Rydia since...

Well, off to figure out that problem.

Fin looked at the Peninsula with horror. He fell to his knees, and felt a very strong thump in his heart. He passed out.

His dream was short, and brutally to the point. When he opened his eyes, all he could think about was reaching the Eastern Peninsula. He looked at Leaf, and back at the mists. "What will you do now? There is somewhere I must be going, and I would like for you to accompany me. Some of our people yet live in Deep Water, you could go to them as well." His voice was much more deep and aloof than normal. "The choice is yours."

Leaf was still staring. "Wait...what..." She didn't understand, nor did she understand why Fin had reacted so harshley. But she grew frightned and her rbeath quickened.

"What do you mean 'some of our people yet remain.'? Our poeple are here, it's just...misty...out..." The realization fo what the mist was creeped in on her like remembering a long forgotten bad dream.

"No...that's not...it's not..." She sprinted ahead into the mist, she had to see for herself....

"VESTIO ANOITUS CORELLON" Shouted Fin at Leaf as her body wondered into the myst. It was what he hoped was an incantation which would do something to stop that insanity, but he didn't know.

His eyes narrowed at the mists. He knew what it is, and knew what it does. Leaf knew too, but...

He didn't know what to do. It all happened so fast. He knew he had to go there, but did not know...

What...

He could only watch helplessly.

Leaf cept her hand over her mouth, using it as a filter. If the mist had been as potent as it was on the surface, she would have already been dead. It stung at her eyes, but as long as she didn't breath much of it in.

She had hoped..was still hopeing...that the gas was just a leak form somewhere, too thin too do much damage. But it was clear, from nearly the moment she disapeared into the mist, that this was not true. The whole peninsula...at had been flattened as if by some giant foot. A waistland, not even bones left to makr the dead here.

There was nothing for it but to turn back. Stepping back through the mist, to where Fin had shouted at her, and collapsing.

Fin was very happy to see his friend return from the mist. He did not think of anything that it implied, but rushed right to her side, and lay both of his hands onto her. The warm healing energy flowed from him into her, he used up every inch of his soul in the treatment, and haphazzardly passed out.

So, two uselss purian elves passed out before a wall of poisoness gas. It would be some time before they would wake, and travel to Deep Water to find what was left of their people.

Onyx sat on the very tops of the manor, crouched and stooped like some strange gargoyle. he had not spoken to anyone, not even in jest or to answer questions. he just sat there. this was the first death of anyone remotely close to him, and he didn't really know how to process it. and due to that, he just sort of shut down, and sat right where he was. he only ate if someone brought him something, and then only when no eyes were watching.

Even Zell and Cedric got no barbs or rise out of the feline from where he was. Zells taunts seemed to only hit deaf ears, and he seemed to lack the voice to pester Cedric about Aella. Even Aella had not received a visit from Onyx, his brain not connecting that being around her may help. in fact, his brain told him to be around her now would be a burden, and better to not burden her.

"That's usually the case in chaotic or dark dieties. But what happened happened. there was nothing you could have done, even if you were there to try. human life is destined to end. and it's a gift that many elves grow envious of as time moves on."

a small sigh, refilling her glass.

"Because they know thier time is short, they see wonders older eyes overlook or are jaded to. every flower is a brilliant color, because they may never see them again. everyday is more potent and filled with more grandeur and wonder, because for them a day like that may never come again. but we have a gift that they will envy. we remember. while thier memories grow short and lost, we remember. Meilikki will never die, becuase she lives on in those lives she touched, especially ours, becuase we can remember her long after mortal death how she was in life. form the way her voice sounded to the way she dressed and walked."

"I never said I would of tried to do anything, and I know how it is for humans...I've been around them long enough to know how they work, how long they have and even long enough to turn more than one a phrase from thier times." Shaking her head lightly. "I'm just a little more than angry that the one thing she asked me to do, never got done. Mostly in part of selfish gods above that care not for the mortal world at all." But a dismissive wave of her hand at all of that. "I don't want to talk about it, least I want to drown myself in this tub." A sigh at that before looking to him. "Grab me a towel before I do?"

Zahara blinked at Malikhai for a moment and frowned, "A bond?" Sure she knew what it was from her talks with both Sevilin and Piper. Her kind down here hadn't really dealt with them seeing as how surface elves weren't close to them. Sevilin had told her of the times he'd gone up to the surface and torn apart bonds. And now her son wanted to have one? She wasn't even sure it was possible but she wanted to see him smile. "Sure, you can have one. How are you going to get one?"

Zykariel sat there rather dejectedly on his stool and watched as the cookies were put in the oven. He'd been excited thinking about how he could tell his friend that he had a grandfather too but he'd been sworn to secrecy. That meant not even Malikhai got to know. "Really Mommy? Mr. Malik is going to help us get one as long as you say it's okay." And she had so there was that. Of course he was probably going to have to get his father's agreement as well, but if he had Mommy's, Daddy should be a piece of cake.

Slipping off his stool he gave his friend a hug and then raced off in search of his father. "Daddy!"
