Oi. About how a shooty list work it's like balancing on a double edged sword, orks have mean deadly weapons with lots of dakka, but a bs of 2, but concidering it's alot of dakka you're bound to kill someone! My shooty/mek lists have proven successful so far, they kill (and get killed).
As a shooty list, you should go with atleast 3 units of 30 shoota boyz with either big shootas or rokkits, depending on if you take tankbustas or not, these 3 mobs give you a strong main-body in the force, capable of taking care of units by both shooting and combat knowing even a naked ork is a capable fighter with 2 basic attacks.
A unit of 15 lootas could work as a fire support and light-tank hunting, hailing down a whole lot of DAKKA! No mekboys needed there.
Bikes and/or koptas is a great choice if you want shooty stuff, I prefer big shootas on my koptas, which is pretty simple to make with the Black Reach koptas, or keeping the rokkits for tank-hunting.
A looted wagon with boomgun is a must for a dakka-force! Perhaps even two!
Concidering the list will be a shooty 'un, your best way of using HQ would be big meks, I'd pick 2 myself, 1 with a SAG and one with a KFF, both having powerklaws or burnas as their second weapon, which gives them a good place in combat.
Also if going for a shooty list, don't stop yourself from taking powerklaws when you can, you can't deny the orky fighting spirit!
About Flash Gitz, I ordered mine from a commissioner, but with the new plastic nobz boxed set it should be easy to make them, bying 2 boxes gives you:
10 nobz in total, making 7 of them into flash gits (1 Dok and 6 gitz) with the "Dok" parts and the kombi-shootas, removing the flamer and rokkits snd flashing up the weapons with more dakka or something makes them excellent flash gitz.
You can use the rest of the Nobz for nobz in your boyz mobs seeing as they're bigger than the plastic nobz in the by boxes, and you get plenty of power klaws for them and your big meks. wink

That BS2 is what makes me not want to think about making an army of them. But I guess 'quantity has it's own quality.'BS2 may not be great, but when you can crank out roughly 60 shots a turn, well; it suddenly, as you said, has a quality all of its own.

By Gork, I want YOUR disposable income xd Currently, it's only going to be the one for me, maybe a second when I get a summer job (for da bitz! Or konvertin). I'm actually quite pleased with the kit, from what I've seen. It eaven has a PEAKED CAP! That really appeals to my Blood Axe, well, blood.
