A bit off-topic perhaps, but how much of a hassle would it be to model the waist of a Dire Avenger onto the torso of a regular human? I'd check the GW site but it's down at the time of typing this. Also, would there happen to be any helmeted Eldar heads with the visor / face plate removed, thus showing a normal face?

Lady Blodwynn A bit off-topic perhaps, but how much of a hassle would it be to model the waist of a Dire Avenger onto the torso of a regular human? I'd check the GW site but it's down at the time of typing this. Also, would there happen to be any helmeted Eldar heads with the visor / face plate removed, thus showing a normal face? It would take massive modification to use Dire Avenger legs, as the connection is socketed rather than flat like human models, and much narrower. Here is a thread with several sprue examples. As for the helmets, I do not believe any such helmet exists, though a good sculptor could carve out a hole and greenstuff the face.... Actually, this might work, it's got the lower helmet and the plume.

I must've been a bit hungover from yesterday, the question looks a wee bit different from what I had in mind. gonk
I was wondering, would it be possible to mount a Dire Avenger or Eldar torso on human legs. But after seeing the actual models I think that might be a problem. Why can't those Eldar finish their meals and have a bit more skin on their bones! mad

Well, the face above comes with the Dires, so no problem there, but yeah, they dont eat cause they gotta watch their figure, haha.
Now, this week, I have a REAL challenge for people, and this one is moer one I DO need help on cause its a WHOLE new direction...
A TRUE challenge, I promise. 725 list, interesting conditions...
Well, in the last campaign battle, I destroyed my enemy, Black Templar, on some of the luckiest, "enemy throwing bad throws" I have seen in a long time. In the battle, my Striking Scorpions Eldar took from the enemy a strange box encased in rune symbols as they slew the last man.
This has lead my army to a different path that only the other 4 players who also picked up the boxes on their maps shall dive into...
Upon the planet, we have discovered a series of tunnels as we ventured forward. For the match into the tunnels of the planet, these are the new rules...
1) Lists are restarted for THIS match. 2) Only Infantry type units and walker units may be used for the mission 3) Since inside tunnels, "night" is in effect.
So those are the rules. For me, to build a 750pt army of JUST Infantry and Walkers. I think this game maybe a good time to actually use my Howling banshees. I've been dying to try out a max squad with Farseer armed with Fortune and doom on the girls. Of course walkers here are a MUST. Im 80% certain I'll be fighting Space Marines with a chance of Imperial Guard. I know a Ork person won, but I fought her last time, so I dont think I'll be up against here. therefor, Its these I know I'll be up against... SM, IG, or Chaos Space Marines. I have a feeling the person with marines will be bringing dreadnoughts, yet I am afraid to run fire dragons. ATM, here is the list. Suggestions welcomed and appreciated.
HQ: Farseer (1) Abilities: Doom, Fortune Equid: Spirit Stones Total:
Troops: Dire Avengers (10) Exarch BladeStorm
Troops: Dire Avengers (10)
Elites: Howling Banshees (10) Exarch Equid: Executioner
Total ATM: 564pts. Left over: 186
So how to spend these points? Walkers, Fire dragons, all suggestions welcomed...

44gah I'm thinking of getting an Eldar army what do you guys think I should get? Nice going. A great choice. For what I'd get, I'll list off what and WHY you should get them. Eldar Battleforce set: This is a good set to start with. It comes with 5 Dire Avengers, 10 Guardians and a platform, a wave serpent and a warwalker. I personally have got 2 of these so that i have 2 walkers and 2 serpents. The serpents are a MUST have in ANY Eldar army. Dire Avengers: MUST HAVE. Dire Avengers are the superior troop choice for ANY Eldar player. A soldier with 18' range and assault 2 weapons. Get a pack, if not 2 of these guys. You HAVE to have them. War Walkers: Now, you DONT have to have these, but when I began, I didnt get these guys. Now that I have played more, I have gotten 3 of these. Why? Cause for only SEVERAL pts, you have a single 10 Armor all around unit that can fire 6 S6 AP5 shots. SEVERAL pts. Think about that. Now, you will get one of these already with the battleforce. Farseer and council: This set comes with a HQ Farseer and 3 warlocks. I personally suggest this only cause since you are going Eldar, you need to learn to use one of the items that sets us out from other armies. That is our psykers. The Farseer you can build up to support your men however you want. Be it rerolls to hit? rerolls to wound? Reroll saves? All possible with the farseers. The Warlocks can be added on squads, and if you DIVE into Eldar as I have, it wont be long before you're fielding a seer council... Fire Dragons: Ok, these Elites are ANOTHER MUST HAVE. Fire dragons are DEADLY if you run them up in the serpent. They are essentially SEVERAL pt. 12' Melta S8 AP1 units. Most times, they WILL die. This is why you essentially put them in a serpent, get the serpent up to w/e tank or strong unit there is, drop them out and fire. 3+ to hit, and with the Meltas, no question. Those are the beginner must haves. Later on, you'll want to get these... Fire Prism: Possibly the Eldar's scariest Heavy. has the option of 60' large template S5 AP4, or 60' small temp. S9 AP2. The better part being that if you have 2 of these Fire prisms, you have the option to fire the prism at the other prism you can draw range to, and then that Fire Prism can fire its scatter blast, but everything is lvl'd up. So the large template is S6 AP3 (Perfect for marine killing) and the small template is S10 AP1! Yeah, so much for that 14AV that tank is sporting. Eldrad: This is a Spec. HQ that you should look more into. When you understand Eldar more and test them out, you'll know WHY hes a beast. So I say star with the ones mentioned, and then once you build more, you can figure out your play style and where to go from there.

Nekage, as a reminder, no posting points costs.
44gah: If you're looking into Eldar and need something as a "close support," I suggest that you look into Striking Scorpions. They hit just as hard as Marines in CC and do so faster. That and Exarchs can have one of the nastier CC weapons available in the Biting Blade.
Jetbikes are good as last minute objective grabbers.

You could add a squad of 3 Warwalkers with Shuriken Cannons for a measly 120 points, I would definitely drop a couple Banshees so you could add a squad of Fire Dragons because you're entirely vulnerable to vehicles right now.

This list I THINK I'm finally hitting that area of "I can now understand what the enemy will throw at me and I can TRY to build these lists with less and less help as I go". and now after a half a year of playing, Im beginning to realize what I need on the table size and all. So for the next 800pt game, I have this in mind.
HQ: Farseer (1) Fortune
Troops: Dire Avengers (10) Exarch x2 Shuriken Cat. BladeStorm
Dire Avengers (5)
Elites: Striking Scorpions (5)
Fire Dragons (5) (Wave Serpent Unit)
(x2) WarWalker (x2) x2 Shurkien Cannons
Wave Serpent Twin Shuriken Cannons Equipment: Spirit Stones
Wraithlord x2 Flamers Scatter laser Bright Lance
TOTAL: 797pts.
IMPORTANT NOTES: What I CANNOT REMOVE DUE TO CAMPAIGN RULES Farseer 14 Dire Avengers Fire Dragons SS WS 1 WarWalker
Strat: So my general plan is since I realized I had LESS anti-tank in here, I decided to take the Wraithlord. KEEP IN MIND, THE TABLES ARE ONLY 4x4ft OR 4x6 TYPICALLY. This is why I gave up on taking a Fire Prism. Dires of 10 go with Farseer. Wraith runs next to that unit. Farseer Fortunes either wraith or Dires, w/e the eney is going after first (Most likely they WILL shoot at the Wraith I am guessing?) Dires of 5 on other side to take w/e side is weaker to try and go for objective/provide tiny fire support. Fire Dragons stay in Wave and do their thing. SS and Warwalkers come in from reserves from the side to provide support. Thoughts and opinions are welcomed. ATM this set is more anti hordish, but the Wraithlord and Fire Dragons are there meant for anti-tank if need be.
