Domesticated War

Back at Shimmer village, Kian was too nervous to leave his arranged room without Kia.  

[Duchess Marie]

Kia came running to the window from the outside, "Kian! Are you coming out?" She added in a lower tone, "the Shimmers do not bite, they would have to get off their pillows for that."

Kian looked to her. "How would I know if they hate me like they do at our village? The kids make fun of me and.....I don't know why the adults hate me."  

[Duchess Marie]

Kia rolled her whole torso in a sign of exhaustion, "they have not tied me down for a bath and a comb. I think you will be fine," she giggled.

Kian smiled a bit. "You scared they try to make you wear a dress? Or pink? Or something just as girly?"  

[Duchess Marie]

Kia put on a mock serious face, "I would rather die." She broke out laughing hard. "Just come out, you have me out here alone."

Kian soon came out hesitant. He stayed near Kia.  

[Duchess Marie]

"You want to get to know some of the others here or do something now that you are out?"  

[Reciter5613]

"I....I guess...."  

[Duchess Marie]

"Come on," she urged, "no one even knows you. How could they hate you? Not that I think anyone back home hates you either; you are just paranoid."

"Well.....as long as your with me....I guess....."  

[Duchess Marie]

"Where else would I go?" She nudged his arm playfully, then waved at some Shimmer boys who were sparring in the grass.

Kian was being shy.  

[Duchess Marie]

"Everyone, this is my brother Kian. Kian, these people think that they are the next great warriors of their village," she smiled. Not one of them would last a day in a Silverblade training.

"What? Why would they think that? Their tribe does not focus on fighting like ours."
