Daren felt his stomach turn a little at the thought of the girl Tim discribed, "that sounds terrifying." he said his goodbye to Tim and waited as long as he thought he could before getting up and turning on the lights. wouldn't due to have Tim caught him sitting in the dark. Apple wasn't happy he had moved, but she would live. he wondered if Tim would be hungry and decided they could heat something up if he was. there were still left overs to be eaten. the knock had him heading for the door, "hey," he opened it for Tim and smiled, "welcome home. i got you a present as well." he held up Tim's car keys, "returned in perfect working order, complete with a key to the house freshly made today." he handed them over, "we'll have to go back for my bike sometime, but no rush." he shrugged and head into the flat, "hungry? or are you fll on dessert?"

Daren was a little surprised by the flan, he accepted the bag and smiled, "Thanks, Tim. share it with me?" he got two spoons from the kitchen and sat down at the table to eat. "sorry if i sounded off, Iroh and I kind of got into a row at work. apparently they could hear us outside his sound proofed office, just to give you an idea of what it was like. i was still a bit miffed by that, i guess." it was mostly true, the fight was what had caused him to remember things he was better off not remembering. he took a bite of the flan and smiled, "it's good. really good. have some."

Daren shrugged, "yes, well, it's part of the job i guess. Iroh and i won't talk for a while and then there will be a case and we'll act like nothing happened. we've fought before." he took another bite and nodded, "you really did. this is delicious. you heading to bed after this? it's pretty late, i was thinking of watching a little tv and then going to bed myself."

Daren actually considered asking Tim to sleep in his own bed. he wasn't sure he was feeling up to having Tim in his bed with him, but he'd always said he'd be there for Tim no matter what. maybe having a warm body next to him would help. "it's up to you. if you need to come to my room, or want to, go ahead, i'll sleep in my shirt regardless, ok?" he smiled and at the last bit, "that was really good, thanks." he gathered the spoons and too that as well as the garbage to the kitchen. when he was done, he got out and went to the couch, not sure what he was going to watch, "sleep well."

Daren waved a little as Tim left, his eyes on the televison, which was still off. he sat there for a long time, several hours passing without him noticing. finally Apple climbed up onto his shoulder and rubbed against his face, purring, bringing him out of his stupor. "alright, sweety, i'm going." he got up and went to his room, changing into his sleep clothes and sliding into the bed, Apple already happily laying on one of his pillows. "night, cat." he muttered as he turned off the light, his bedroom door was cracked in case Tim had a nightmare. he pulled his blanket up to his chin and settled down for a fitful night of sleep, finally waking up fully as the sun rose and taking a shower to get rid of the night's cold sweat.

Daren finished showering and got dressed, heading to the kitchen only to find Tim already working on breakfast. "Good morning." he smiled, feeling a little better this morning, but not much since he still had to go back to work and sit behind that damned desk all day, "you're a busy bee. want me to set the table? what do you want to drink?"

Daren was reaching into the fridge when he heard Tim's happy little admission. he growled softly and slammed the door shut, milk in hand. "don't say that," he said as calmly as he close, his hand shaking a bit as he poured them both milk, but not spilling a drop, "don't ever say something like that again, Tim. if someone tells you to eat on the floor, kick that ******** in the balls, understand? get some god damned self worth." he returned the milk and took the glasses to the table before getting plates and forks for them as well. "chocolate chips are fine, i like them that way." he said a little more softly, getting the syrup as well and taking that into the table. "sorry." he finally muttered, standing in the doorway, but not looking at Tim, "shouldn't have snapped at you."

Daren sighed and ran a hand through his hair. he'd really done it this time. "tim-" the other passed him and put the food on the table, "Tim, i really am sorry. you were in a good mood and I ruined it. it's not your fault it's mine." he smiled a little and very carefully put a hand on Tim's shoulder, bending down so he could look into his eye, "i really am sorry. don't lose that beautiful smile just because i'm a d**k." he gave Tim a small half hug, "i would never hurt you, Tim. i'll try to be nicer from now on, but tell me if i'm being an a** or if i say something that scares you so i know when to stop." he let Tim go and moved to the other side of the table, giving his friend room, "thanks for this. it looks great." two pancakes decorated his plate and he started to eat, liking them without syrup when they had chocolate chips. "ever had pancakes with peanut butter and whipped cream on them?"
