Karuto, with Saiko in tow, would arrive at the gates "Let us venture onwards! We have a long ways to go and the sooner we get there the sooner we can meet, and fight, new and unusual shinobi!" His booming laugh echoed across the sands at the prospect of a fun battle. Stroking his new beard as he had recently gotten in the habit of doing, he poked Saiko in the ribs with his elbow "And who knows, there might be some cute girls there ey?"
An ANBU would quietly make his way to Karuto's side and give him a note, "From the Kazekage. She apologizes for not giving you your mission in person." He would say before going back into the shadows of the crevice.
Chunnin Karuto, First of all thank you for partaking of this mission, you are now an envoy of Suna. What Lilith did not explain is I want nothing to do about an alliance with just Konoha. I wish to have an alliance with the rest of the hidden villages as well. We have a massive threat that Suna cannot handle alone and I am certain the other villages have issues with the UHV as well. I am sending you and Saiko to suggest a bringing together of the kages. If the Hokage accepts please tell them to send me a messenger hawk. I have the utmost faith in you and Saiko, please do Suna proud. Ayame Hatake

Saiko nodded thoughtfully as he listened to Karuto’s brief on the mission. It seemed like a simple enough task. The boy continued to follow along, stopping as Karuto elbowed him. Saiko knew that it was meant to be playful but it did hurt a bit. He would have to check his body later for any bruising. “It’ll be exciting to leave the village for once.” Saiko spoke. “And I’m sure Konoha has some cute girls.” This was when Saiko noticed the Anbu approaching the two of them and handing Karuto a note. Saikos head tilted a bit in curiousity as he waited for Karuto to read it.

He smiled at Saiko's enthusiasm, however, that smile quickly faded when the ANBU arrived. With a rather stoic face, he took the note and read over it. 'From the Kazekage herself, hmmm?' He had actually only ever met her the one time. From what he gathered, she rarely, if at all, interacted with her Shinboi. He was unsure how she spent her time but it was certainly not mingling with her subordinates, which he assumed to be because it was unbecoming for a person of that stature. Karuto would generate a bolt of lightning in his hand and ignite the paper, letting it fall from his hand as it burned to ash "She wants us to suggest Kage Summit" He would say to his teammate. Karuto knelt down and slung his pack over his shoulders before jerking his thumb towards the trail "C'mon, we got a long road ahead of us" He said before setting off together with Saiko
‘A Kage summit eh?’ Saiko thought to himself as he began to follow Karuto. ‘Well it’s about damn time.’ With that Saiko would make a crystal dragon under his feet that he would ride towards Konoha. Another would be made for Karuto in the case that he wished to not tire himself out.

After leaving the Kazekage's office, Kaori swiftly found herself at the entrance to the village. She hadn't had reason to come to the entrance in quite some time, so she took a moment to look at it as if through the eyes of a visitor. The crevice was large, in comparison to a person, standing an impressive 350 meters tall, though only fifty meters thick. Kaori, having been a suna nin all her life, knew the entrance to be trapped in case of invaders, but also knew that she would be safe to travel to and from the village as she needed. She shook her head and sighed before she looked at her furry companion, still silently amused that she would never again have to look down to meet her best friend's eyes, in fact she had to look up to Nova now, "I think it best that you stay here, Nova. Help out around the village as needed, you can transform into human form if you need thumbs, and your tiger strength will be much appreciated I think. I will return as swiftly as possible. Though I do ask that you not try and start any fights, or eat anyone. You can go hunting if you're truly hungry, and you know it."
Nova huffed and looked over and down at Kaori, her golden eyes narrowing at her human. Nova was never a fan of splitting up their team. They worked well together, why fix something that wasn't broken. She huffed and growled lowly, "And leave you out in a strange land that we've never been to, where you could possibly die? I think not." Kaori sighed and shook her head at her partner, but she knew where Nova was coming from. That didn't mean she agreed with her.
"Nova, I will be alright. And in the case that I'm not, at least Sunagakure will not be completely without us. One of us needs to stay if for no other reason than to be a face for our pair, and to show the village that we are still here for them." Nova rumbled, but heaved the tiger version of a sigh and lifted her head and tail to appear as if she were aloof, and not affected, "Fine. But if you don't come back within two days, I'm coming after you, and I'm telling you I told you so when I save you."
Kaori laughed and nodded before she hugged her best friend, kissed her between the ears; after Nova lowered her head to allow Kaori to do so; then turned on her heel and left the village proper.

Bast arrived at the gates at an even pace, her expression an emotionless mask. Mononoke and Maimakterion were waiting for her, backpacks of supplies and the woman's equipment at the ready. The three of them set out at a quick pace, only to turn just outside the gates, heading to the north, then the west.
Obstacles are like wild animals. They are cowards but they will bluff you if they can. If they see you are afraid of them... They are liable to spring upon you; but if you look them squarely in the eye, they will slink out of sight.
Kaori walked up to the crevice and nodded to the ANBU on duty, they recognized her as a Shinobi of sunagakure, and therefore she did not need to answer any questions. She strolled through Suna, only to get bowled over by an overly happy, and overly affectionate, tiger of massive proportions, "That didn't take long. Now get off me, you're not a cub anymore." Kaori laughed as she pushed at Nova's scruff, trying to get the large tiger to move. Nova chuffed at Kaori, but got off so that her partner could breathe, then licked her from collarbone to hairline, "I told you I would be waiting, and here I am. Judging by how quickly you're back, you succeeded, yes? Don't answer that, I know I'm right. So we'll need to go to the Kazekage and then start training, yes?" Kaori laughed again and nodded before she stood up and dusted herself off, then fell into step with her best friend and made their way to the Kazekage's office.

A single desert rose, blooming amidst sands marked by nothing but a gravestone, the scent of blood, and the already fading smoke of a reverse summoning technique, had led Kagerou to the gates of this foreign village. Sunagakure, the great desert village. The most militaristic of the main villages, and lacking in plant growth, Kagerou never got the opportunity to visit it even once in her childhood.
What was meant to be a short visit before she went where she was needed had turned into a trek across the desert that ended in her staring up at the heavily guarded, and likely heavily booby trapped, crevice that served as Sunagakure's entrance. Her hair tied up, and her jacket off and draped over her head to try and provide some much needed shade, the ever calm Kagerou looked somewhat weary for once as she walked past a rather forbidding entourage of golems and a woman who appeared to be made of ice and snow down to her very bones. Figuratively speaking, of course. She walked in the direction Kagerou just arrived in, and though it may have been rude, she paused to dare and look upon the slight back that quickly receded. What coincidence it would be if this woman, too, was seeking Sonyo. After having her fill of fanciful thinking, Kagerou walked up to give her name and village to the ANBU gate guard.
"Kagerou. From Kirigakure," she spoke as if she had no secrets to hide, "I... don't have a permit from my village or anything I can use to request access to Sunagakure, but I seek to enter to search for news regarding a Lady Sonyo and her student, Moana, as the former's friend." Her weary appearance and slightly hoarse, from thirst, voice aside, she spoke gently and amiably, with a smile that matched. There was... a hint of sadness in her eyes, however, and she spoke softly much like one would speak of those they feared recently passed. Kagerou would, if it was okay, allow herself these allowances.
To summon oneself to a grave when they expected a friend could really, logically, only mean one thing. Kagerou had paid her respects to the grave already, presenting the sunflowers that were meant for warm, motherly hands to the cold stone instead. She had only thing she had to do in order to continue to her new post in the Leaf without any regrets. Find and ensure Sonyo's student was alright. Hopefully, what happened with teacher would not happen with student, and Kagerou wouldn't find her new task end in an unfortunate and unexpected outcome.
Being guided by older, more powerful, shinobi was a surreal experience. They all wore the face of battle-hardened fighters, people who had seen a thing or two, lost some people. Her face was measured, stoic, as she watched them lead her to the front gates. Standing there, beside a guard in a mask, was a woman with green hair and red eyes. Moana stopped a few feet in front of her, looking up at the woman, studying her. The guards had said that this woman said she was a friend of Sonyo's; friend of sonyo's with green hair and red eyes? A carefully cultivated face? From Kiri? "Lady Kagerou, it's nice to finally meet you. Shame it can't be on better terms. Sonyo talked about you quite often, said that you two were two of the same soul."
Moana bent at the waist, giving Kagerou a deep and respectful bow. Pink ombre locks fell in to her face and the clanging of metal could be faintly heard from her jewelry. She stayed like that for a few seconds-- a condolence, an apology for her fallen friend. Then the young woman straightened up, her face still a blank slate. "How can I help you today, Lady Kagerou?"

Kagerou wasn't permitted entrance to the village, but even the most ignorant would be hard pressed to feel offended, not when they were basically hand-delivered the person they sought. Hot damn. The customer service in Suna was top notch. She wondered, half-jokingly as an amused smile played on her face while Moana approached, if maybe she should ask about Takeda or Shadow and see if they would be delivered to her as well.
Moana, the girl with hair of roses and skin of desert sand. This was Kagerou's first time seeing her, but her appearance matched the few offhand comments Sonyo had mentioned of her description, details that snuck their way into whatever stories she and Kagerou exchanged
It was to her surprise that Moana bowed. Kagerou wanted to chide her that such a gesture was unnecessary, but she could see how, from Moana's point of view, the friend of a teacher ought to be shown respect. Kagerou would have done much the same in her position. Instead, Kagerou followed her lead, and before Moana would raise her head, she would see Kagerou's face first, now at a level below Moana's as the other woman now kneeled on one knee before her. Her face upturned, she knelt so that she could get a better look at Moana's lowered face. Two hands raised up, the bells upon one ringing, to gently hold one of Moana's hands between them. Her fingers rested lightly against the pulse of the wrist.
"Such high praise... I can't accept it." Kagerou shook her head as she smiled faintly. She hadn't come here to talk about herself, though. She had come here to talk about Sonyo and her student. Of those two topics, one was as good as answered. "I saw her grave, your teacher's, and the rose you placed upon it." She studied Moana's reactions and paused briefly to give her space to correct her if she was wrong. While looking to be in distinctly better condition than her, Kagerou could spot the signs of travel weariness. It didn't appear that Moana had been in the village for very long. "I came here because I would regret it otherwise if I simply left. She had done so much for everyone. Even if I came too late, the least I could do is make sure the student she cherished so much and was so proud of was safe. How are you? Are you fine?". By these last two questions, Kagerou meant both physically and mentally.
Careful pink eyes studied kagerou's, the question was heartfelt but unnecessary. Moana looked to the side, thinking about her words before they left her mouth. "I'm crushed. But it is part of the job, part of being medical personnel-- seeing friends and loved ones die in battle, not being able to save them all the time. She didn't deserve to die, none of them ever do. Though it's hard, that is life, especially here in the desert." Her words were true-- she missed Sonyo more than anything, and Sonyo did not deserve to die, not the way she did. Sonyo deserved to die happily, comfortably, in her sleep at an old age surrounded by family. But that was often not the end to a shinobi life, and she knew that.
Moana met Kagerou's gaze again, her lips thinning a little as they pulled taut. "She told me once, that someone had given her that name. Desert Rose. One of Lady Kazekage's cousins, I believe. She never told anyone-- he saw her as something so fragile in a desert so harsh. That image stayed with her for a very long time. I thought it was fitting to leave one on her grave... she always loved nature." Pink eyes darted upwards suddenly as she thought, checking herself over momentarily. "As for physically, I could be worse. I was born here in the desert unlike Lady Sonyo, I learned how to travel here before I could even remember. I slept very little in my travels, as one person traveling alone is an easy target. Not many people make the trek across the desert." Once again she looked back down at kagerou. "Otherwise, I'm fine. Lady Sonyo protected me during the attack, I sustained no injuries."
"Man and Spirit alike tell me I cannot withstand the storm…"
Still in his emotional daze, Theodin would appear in another cloud of smoke at the gates of the village, slowly walking into the desert. Any guards that may attempt to stop or talk to him would be met with a glare that could halt an army. As the large man wandered into the nearby desert, he kept mulling over all the emotions he was feeling, not that he had any choice in the matter,he couldn’t stop them if he tried. Once he was a good half mile beyond the village’s walls, Theo turned off the road into the open desert, his chakra seeping out of him now that he was far enough away for no one to get hurt. Each step he took, the patch of sand under his foot crystallized into a patch of iceAfter a few hundred yards passed since he had left the road, more chakra began flowing from him, causing sand to melt around the ice from the electricity he could generate. anyone that could see his chakra would think they were watching an exploding dynamo right now as Theo started focusing chakra through his staff before swinging it in an arc before swing his other arm across his body behind it, letting out a loud, thunderous cry as a massive tidal wave of ice erupted from the sand before him and a huge pulse of electricity followed it, charging the wave as it went roaring across the sand before crashing down, leaving a large patch of frozen glass where it hit. With another cry, the winds that always whipped the desert of the land of Wind started to spin and form into giant tornados as dark clouds formed above him and started spreading, growing darker as they went. Lightning began striking the ground all around the man as he dropped to his knees where he stood and laid his staff on the ground, the tornados circling around him among the lightning bolts. Finally the wind started turning cold as snow and hail fell around him. This continued for several minutes as what would be the storm of the century if it weren’t concentrated in one spot raged as the jounin cried for his fallen friend. Gradually, Theo started to calm down, the snow and hail subsided, the clouds dissipated and the winds slowed and warmed back to normal. Theo returned to his feet and looked around him, seeing the piles of snow and ice, the patches of glass where lightning struck the sand, and the small dunes where his tornados redistributed the sand. Though far from happy in that moment, he was relieved that he could hold that until he could get away from people, as he looked back at the untouched walls of the village he loved and served. Taking a slow, deep breath, Theo let out a long sigh before activating his summon seal and vanishing from the center of his distructive outburst, bound for somewhere he could sit and relax his mind. What could Kagerou say? She had hoped Moana would open up to her a little more, but it seemed, like the gift she had laid before Sonyo's grave, she would not be so easy to approach. This was, in its own way, a good trait. After all, aside from the connection they shared through Sonyo, they might as well be strangers.
Still smiling sadly, Kagerou closed her eyes and breathed in. "A desert rose... It is really fitting. Fragile she may have seemed, a flower that blooms in the desert is truly tough within. Sonyo was like that. Her inner strength, if I was prone to envy, I would certainly envy it. Well, that and her green thumb." Weak was not a word Kagerou would use to describe Moana's heart as she looked upon the girl who recited, without so much as a hitch in her breath, the cold truths of a medic shinobi. Hearing them made Kagerou remember a small memory that drove into her like a thorn for a split second, and then the pain quickly passed. "What you said is true, but don't feel like this duty, this obligatory sacrifice means you must endure Sonyo's death silently. It is okay to grieve... whenever it is you feel ready." Then in a whisper, "And it is not a weakness to reject the philosophy we must follow," came words meant for another. Moana, though, didn't need those words. Beneath her fingers, Moana's pulse had beat steadily without hesitation. Whatever misgivings this young woman's surface may have shown, they did not claw so deep as to disturb her core. Perhaps at another time, she may doubt, but in this moment, she exemplified what it meant to feel like a medic but act like a shinobi. "I haven't known you for very long, but I can see why Sonyo brought only you along with her on her travels. I think you also carry those same traits that made the desert rose. Perhaps you could consider carrying on that moniker yourself. In place of blood, it could be your way of continuing her legacy."
Kagerou's words came from her mouth smoothly and with a small lilt. Her motions were just the same. With the grace of someone who'd grown up dancing, she'd stood up while talking until now, she would be looking down at the shorter Moana. Her words were one thing. Kagerou peered thoroughly at her body just to make sure she spoke the truth and really wasn't hiding any injuries. She had more than enough experience with people trying to hide holes in their chests. It appeared Moana had nothing of that sort going on, though. What was more, she had reached a safe haven, so whatever issues she had, Kagerou really had no good excuse to be prying into.
With these obstacles cleared, Kagerou could release the breath she had, figuratively, held in. "I'm glad to see you're fine, and to see that you've reached Suna. That's really all I came to find you for...I suppose, also, I was trying to find Sonyo to tell her this, but I'll be stationed in Konoha for the near future. If you ever need me for something, or are simply nearby, please don't hesitate to ask for me."
It was for a moment like this one that Kagerou would envy Sonyo. If she had been Sonyo, she would have, without hesitating, extended a helping hand and offered herself through a summoning contract. However, standing in front of the gates to Suna, which she knew Moana, the near stranger, would walk back through at any time, under the watchful gaze of who knows how many ANBU, Kagerou simply did not have the guts to make such an offer. She held too many worries over such a proposition, both for herself and Moana. In that sense, she wasn't someone who could be compared to Sonyo.
