"All set," Lin replied looking up at him, "Are you going to commission boots?"

Well she would assume so, but she wanted to know from Earendil whether or not it would be possible.

Earendil nodded. "He asked me to come back in the morning with Leyenda so that I can be measured for them. He says that they don't premake footwear because everyone is different sizes and has different preferences, so unlike the bags they're not likely to sell if they make them ahead of time."

He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "And it seems that they're quite pricey. I'm not sure why but they seem to be the most difficult thing that they make here."

"Maybe because it's never the same," Lin inquired, "I mean... to have boots that fit you, really fit both of your feet is quite different than making a pair of pants or a shirt...."

Of course she was sure elves being what they were both had the same shoe size on both feet, but she had heard it could be different. Anyways she was thinking too closely on it.

"Of course I don't know much about shoe making neither."

"Well there we go then," Earendil smiled. "Though perhaps I'll find out a bit more when I come back and get measured. At any rate, we do have to get going, because time is pressing and we've only been to a few places."

He put one hand on Lin's head and patted it gently before heading towards the door.

Turning for a moment Lin hurried after Earendil, unaware that Senka had woken up from her cat nap inside her bag and was sticking her head from under the flap.

After all how was one supposed to get any sleep when her owner insisted on rummaging around in her sleeping spot. She blinked owlishly at her surroundings.

The entire group headed on down the street, and though it wasn't terribly late in the day, the sun was already beginning to lower in the sky.

"We should make only one more stop before heading back," Alena warned the others, glancing up at the sky. "It will be dark in less than two hours, and it will take us an hour to return to the castle ..."

Earendil looked down at Lin. "Any other ideas on where to go?" he asked her.

She was about to remind Earendil that he wanted to see the woodsmith but then remembered Kaito and then of course remembered about Storm and Starr who were back on the ship.

"Sweets, Kaito was talking about sweets," Lin glanced back at her nephew.

Kaito caught Lin's eye and nodded, grinning. "Storm and Starr need something, they haven't been off the ship here yet and I know Storm loves sweets," he piped up. "I just hope they take our coins, because I don't have anything else to give in trade."

"I'm sure we can work something out," Alena smiled at him reassuringly, leading them further down the street. They passed many different kinds of shops on their way, but she ignored them for now. "Worse come to worse, I will give you some of our coins in exchange for yours."

Lin smiled in return, she didn't expect to get any sweets even though it had been a very, very long while since she had, had any herself.

"That's good,"
Lin murmured, "And I'm sure Kaito as a bit of a sweet tooth as well."

Most people did, she did.

Kaito purred. "You can bet I'll be getting something for myself as well as for them," he agreed. "And for Shiro. Ura's not much for sweets."

Which was interesting considering that any other time, Ura and Shiro were pretty much exactly the same.

"Here we are," Alena interrupted them, leading them into another shop. It was the sweet shop, and inside the place was filled with all sorts of sweets. It wasn't quite as big as the sweet shop in Tor Karad, but it was sizable enough, and had sweets that weren't found on the main continent.

Lin was a bit confused, she was use to Ura being like Shiro, except he was vocal and tended to speak his mind (whether this was a good thing or not was questionable). She could smell the sugar the moment she walked in and looking around in interest she took stock of what was there.

Lin also had to admit she had a bit of a sweet tooth herself.

Like a shot, Kaito was off and inspecting the different sweets, his eyes gleaming as he looked over it all.

Kelirahc looked around, and his expression was one of confusion. He didn't understand ... this stuff didn't look like food, but from the reactions of the others, it was something good ...

"What is it?" he asked Leyenda, standing in the middle of the room and looking around, feeling lost.

Leyenda smiled and linked her arm with his, trying to comfort him. She could understand how he felt, everything about this island was completely new to him, just as everything about his island had been new to her - only she was sure that this would be the more difficult adjustment.

"Candy," she replied. She explained what it was, and why it looked the way it did, but the expression on Kelirahc's face didn't change. It was clear that he wouldn't understand until he tried some.

Lin mentally added it to the list of luxuries that existed in her culture and in most cultures she was familiar wtih. After all it wasn't like candy had any nutritional value. She hovered over some candy that looked just as pretty as it was tasty, well more pretty but she was sure it was tasty.

Art as food.... or food as art.

"Hmm... hmmm...." Lin looked thoughtful.

As it turned out, the owner of this particular shop did accept the gold and silver and bronze coins that the travelers had with them, and Kaito came away with a large bag full of candy, and Leyenda got about a dozen pieces. Celeb wanted to get a lot, but Arwen was supervising him, and of course since his spending money came from her, she made sure he didn't get too much. Rhea also got only a little bit, selecting some of the ones that Aurin assured her were the best.

Earendil alone bought nothing, choosing simply to look.

Lin also brought a few pieces of candy to stash away for later and she could wait to have them later. She hated to admit this but she missed the sugar. Though she had to pull Senka out of her bag to keep the cat from getting into her bag of candy.

Not that she understand why Senka would want to, sugar and full felines didn't go well together. Besides if Senka wanted a treat well... she would ask for fish.
